Popped in on the off chance on bank holiday Monday was travelling from Fishguard on the A40 and we came across this wonderful pub with plenty of paki base. We popped in and asked if there was any reservations so we could have a meal there was a spacious restaurant and also a conservatory, and a place if you had pets to dine the menu was a good choice. I had an excellent starter and both of us had steak.

A very nice venue and the food was ok. Biggest disappointment was that the plates were cold and the food soon followed. Not sure why they couldn’t have been heated up. My husband would have liked more than 2 roast potatoes. Plenty of veg available. Staff were lovely and service was generally good.

Went fo Sunday lunch. Bar and restaurant appeared clean and inviting and bar staff were pleasant. Then the meal started. Dreadful. It is billed as a carvery but your only choice is type of meat. Our plates were taken off us and a server piled spoonfuls of sorry looking mush on our plates and piled so high that it didn't fit on the plate. Plates handed back to us only to be taken off us again by the boy in charge of gravy who slopped a ladle of watery brown liquid all over the plate. And eating it was worse. Everything tasted the same, as in no taste due to being very over-cooked. Had to put a layer of salt and pepper on top of the pile, eat that layer then put more salt and pepper on next layer and so on until got to the meat. Pork was mostly fat. The crackling was inedible gristle and beef was like chewing carpet tiles. The sweets appeared acceptable but I only had icecream which was nice but small portion. Had we not been with a good group of friends we would have walked out. Paid £49.50 for 2 two course meals (no drinks) which is a complete rip off.

Call today for Sunday dinner. Good points are easy parking also harp inn very clean including toilets been looked after. When arrived staff where friendly and service was quick. Been at the harp inn before at lunch time and food serve was as good as anybody including price wise but as the previous reviews . Sunday lunches is not as good . Quantity was good but quality of the vegetables was below par it needed salt or something no taste at all also gravy was like colourd water.it’s a pity really that they don’t read reviews and improve on their Sunday lunches because it’s a lovely and homely place to call.

Walked in and heard a couple complaining at the toll and only paid for some of their bill, we should have turned round and walked back out then. Sat down and ordered drinks, my coke was watered down and I ended up asking for a can of Pepsi rather than another watered down drink from the bar. They forgot to tell us we could go up and get our food so I had to go and ask… carvery Sunday dinner where they just slap everything on your plate. Plates were cold and the cauliflower cheese was just sauce. Sat down looking forward to my Sunday dinner, dinner was luke warm, the mashed potato tasted like the the potato’s had been burnt when boiled and the swede had a very odd taste to it. The one roast potato I had was so hard I couldn’t eat it. Ended up leaving a lot of it as it was tasteless, really disappointed and should have complained when we had to pay the bill. No-one asked how the food was. I paid the bill in full which with hindsight I absolutely shouldn’t have… will never come back for Sunday dinner here. Needs some atmosphere in the restaurant also, no background music, just feels like a canteen to be honest.

The restaurant was clean and inviting. Was told by a not very helpful or interested member of staff that it was a carvery lunch on Sundays. Drinks order was taken by a somewhat more helpful staff member. Waited for a short while while the carvery was ‘replenished’. Was quite horrified when I viewed the food on offer. The beef was tough, overcooked and dry. The lamb wasn’t much better and the pork was unidentifiable. Veg was overcooked. The only thing fresh was the yorkshire pudding which I’m quessing was the ‘replenished item’. The server plonked everything onto a plate and looked like she’d rather be anywhere else. We should have left. Disappointing experience. Will not return. .

Not great … we were seen to our table lovely an quick and drink orders arrived quick too 👌 Carvery Sunday roast with lamb beef and turkey ! Lovely ! 🙂 We had the lamb - lamb was cooked beautifully. However the veg was tasteless and not really hot, just warm…. The gravy had no flavour, there was plenty slapped on your plate (dinner lady style). We felt we were being watched as there was so many members of staff just waiting Round, felt very uncomfortable… All looked very unorganised… Very underwhelming and extremely bland. Plates were cold which is a major bug bear.. the young lad behind the bar was quite rude when paying, just slapping the bill down in front of us, I said it was cash, where he rolled his eyes and slammed the card machine back down by the till, took the money handed the change and walked off, not even Thankyou , bye etc……….

Just had a meal here and have to say very disappointed. A nice welcome at reception but all down hill after that. Ordered the lamb chop special which wasn’t cheap. The chops were OK, but were served with 3 undercooked small new potatoes, a few peas and half a tomato. When we asked if we could have some gravy, the reply was ‘No sorry’. When asked if we were enjoying our meal, we commented on the lack of gravy. To be fair, the front of house gentleman queried this with chef but this fell on deaf ears. Clearly chef and other kitchen staff don’t care about customer service. Two other couples were also complaining while we were there which was a bit concerning. Sadly will not be returning.

Starting with the positives: a warm welcome from cheerful staff who quickly confirmed our booking and took us to our table; an online ordering system which is easy to use and efficient; a bright and cheery ambience; the Guinness is good, lovely and cold; the chicken jalfresi is decent. Not so positive was the fact I was served the wrong meal. Having ordered a seafood lasagna I was given a vegetarian one. When I pointed this out that vegetables were part of the seafood lasagna. Having to point out a second time that there was no seafood in my seafood lasagna eventually it was changed with the reason being that they had a trainee in the kitchen. Unfortunately the seafood lasagna didn’t have much seafood in and more or less an over-cheesed gloop. To give credit, the staff did come and check if everything was ok and I said it wasn’t very good. The chef came out (I assume he was the owner given his air of authority) admitted it wasn’t up to their usual standard, apologised and instructed his staff to issue a refund. It was a real shame as this was our first night of a two week stay in the area and we probably would have visited this restaurant a few times. Perhaps I just ordered the wrong meal!

We have been here for a meal a few times over the years, it has always been slightly more expensive than other local establishments however the quality and choice has been worth paying for. Yesterday 4 of us went for an anniversary meal and were horrified at the experience. All of the food was cold, vegetables in the veggie curry were almost raw, curry sauce lifeless and tasteless and the portions were all toddler sized. Tomato sauce on the arancini balls was just sweet and tasted like neat tomato purée which was inedible and the fish was full of bones. Puddings were ordinary and overpriced. Not once did anyone come and ask if everything was alright and they didn’t even enquire about the meal when we were paying, they haven’t a clue about customer satisfaction. The eat out to help out scheme there was a joke as they only took discount off the main course and nothing else, We will never set foot in this pub again. Just don’t bother eating out here unless you want to get ripped off to eat rubbish you are better off with a frozen value meal from a supermarket!!! Would give this place a rating of zero if one was available!!!

You are guaranteed a very welcome from Becky and Giles on your arrival at The Harp Inn. They really helped to bail me out at very short notice when I was let down very badly by the Rose and Crown at Goodwick who had totally and incompetently made a mistake with my booking. The Harp Inn really came to my rescue and I am delighted they did because my 2 day bed and breakfast stay there worked out really well. It’s a genuinely nice place to stay and very well situated to travel to the many nearby tourist attractions. The rooms are neat, tidy, well equipped and immaculate. The pictures on the website are a real reflection of what they look like and just how good they are. I could not find fault. There’s a bar and a restaurant and these are both lovely areas to eat and drink in. I thought the quality of the food (both the breakfasts and the evening meals) was very good indeed. The evening menu offers a very good range and variety of options - I would say something to suit everyone’s taste and appetite. Serving staff are friendly and capable too. Overall I was impressed with everything I experienced so despite having felt very let down by the Rose and Crown I actually ‘landed on my feet’ by discovering The Harp Inn. If you visit I do not think you will be disappointed.

An invite to Sunday lunch from friends found us back at the Harp. I wasn't over-impressed last time so returned with some trepidation. The Sunday lunch menu is OK but no more with a very limited choice for starters and mains (3 of each). More puds to be fair. We missed the starters and had three beef and one pork. The meat was OK for us (I had the pork as I don't like well cooked beef!) but the veg were a bit of a let down with a big portion of mash potato and roasties but a bland root veg mash and watery leek gratin. No table check at any stage and no opportunity to comment without leaving our dinner as staff seemed to not notice us. At the end of the day you get what you pay for and this was quite cheap but that was reflected in the food and service standards.

Opted for fish terrine (husband) and chicken liver pate (me) which came in Olympian portions. My advice is to go when very hungry. My main was a local beef serloin which came as ordered, medium rare, with a wonderfully caramelised crusted outside - goodness knows how they managed it; the result was wonderful; I ate every scrap except the edging of fat but only then because of a nod to slimming world. My husband had the special of fish in watercress sauce which he walloped down. Highly recommended if you are here and want a good feed with great ingredients.

The head of the table thought the child meal had not been ordered so asked for chicken nuggets but within a few minutes asked to cancel. We were served a child scampi only but charged for chicken nuggets and adult scampi, which is disgusting! The apple and cherry crumble was sold out but the table was not told and sent out apple pie, this was not acceptable. The apple pie was not sweet and pastry uncooked, it was more of a savoury dish. I would not recommend the curry was minimal with sauce with 4 prawns for £13.95.

Drinks are average. Furniture and comforts are average. There's no real character and no real reason to stop and eat other than a good-sized car park. Sorry Harp but you'll have to up your game for 2017.

We stayed over for one night, as we had a wedding to go to near by. My brother and his wife had booked separately. We had an excellent lunch together on arrival and checked into our rooms. We were then told the inn would be closed from 3 until 5:45. So we would have to stay in our rooms or go and find somewhere else to have a drink. This was dissapointing we had been driving for 2 hours and were looking forward to a leisurely afternoon in the bar. The rooms were clean and comfy with a good bed. Breakfast next morning we arrived to get told the tables had been laid for couples and it was not possible for us to all sit together. Again this put a dampener on the experience. I can't say I would recommend you to drive over 100 miles to stay here which is what we did. But if you want something to eat and your in the area the food is good.

For: A warm welcome and good beer. Nice surroundings.Against: Sadly, the food! It seemed to be made to appeal to the 'lowest common denominator'; Sunday Lunch by numbers. It was Ok, no more! A little bit more imagination from the kitchen would make a huge difference. For a couple of pounds more go to Allt yr Afon for a far better three course Sunday Lunch.

I wouldn't return. Caters for pensioners more so & the food is lousy. The place lacks atmosphere & comfort. Like eating in a school canteen. The owners are not friendly & I have no clue how it's still in business. Very disappointing.

I was I have to say pleasantly surprised by a number of things. 1) how well equipped the owner and staff are to deal with children 2) the quality of food- I had venison which was superb as was the onion rings and roquefort cheese sauce. Salad was great with a mix of fruit through it too 3) allowing children to have desert a little earlier 4) selling hand made knitted hats with all monies going to charity. And from talking to staff they do a lot for charity. Only downside.was the chips. Not great so go with salad or potatoes. I know I will when I definitely return next time I'm in the area.

We arrived as a large party for Sunday lunch. We had heard mixed reviews for The Harp and sadly we all agreed that Sunday lunch was rather poor. Quantity was good but everything from the meat to the vegetables to the gravy , was very bland. No taste at all. Disappointed , won't return

My partner and I live local, and we have never tried the harp, outside they advertised the "special lunchtime menu" for £6.99 so we thought we would Try it. The menu itself had a few selections. My partner had the hunters chicken off the normal menu which was a good portion, and I ended up trying the "steak & ale pie" off "special lunchtime menu" what I received was a poor portion and disappointing quality. The pie was most disappointing as it was poor quality and the size was to small to be served as a meal. The chef must have only counted 10 chips only to go on the plate as if they were going to run out of food and a desert spoon full of peas. I probably would have only paid £2.99 for that portion and quality of food. It was a kids meal really. We will not be returning again.

We called here early one evening on a Saturday, we hadn't booked and as it was filling up fast were doubtful about getting a table. No worries, the manager seated us in the bar area and asked the barman to take our drinks order. We were warned there was up to half an hour wait for food, this was a very accurate prediction. We pondered an extensive menu and made our choices, the ambience of this restaurant was really enjoyable and the time flew by. All staff members were really polite and efficient in this busy establishment. Starters arrived and were happily received, mains arrived quickly after our first plates were empty, puddings took a little while longer but to our relief.

Enjoyed our lunch, eventually chosen from a very extensive menu, plus daily specials, plus a selection of mains @ £6. Definitely something for everyone including superb salads. Attentive, friendly service and noticeable attention to detail. Good draught beer and everything sensibly priced. Recommended - a good stop en route to the Fishguard ferry. We will definitely return.

In previous years visiting family in Haverfordwest we have thoroughly enjoyed meals here. However this time unfortunately it wasn't the case this time.I have to say we did arrive at the end of service and was accommodated which we were thankful for. Although the food served was bland and I would have preferred then to refuse the table rather than serve rushed food.

A long overdue night away was needed after working hard in both our jobs. We wanted to stay local so decided to stay at The Harp. After an enjoyable day walking the coast path we arrived at The Harp. Our room was ready for us it was immaculate and the décor beautiful and tasteful. The converted cowsheds are a delight. The bed comfortable and the en suite shower room with plentiful supply of hot water was well received. We made our way over to the pub where we were greeted by the lovely land lady, we enjoyed a couple of drinks whilst deciding what to eat from the varied menu and specials board. We decided on the classic steak and gammon which were cooked to our liking and both proved to be delicious. The home made puddings were also delicious we can highly recommend the Banoffee pie and summer pudding. After a comfortable night sleep we enjoyed a full English breakfast with fresh orange juice and lots of hot coffee. Again the hosts were welcoming and making us feel at home. We will definitely be staying again and cant wait.

We booked a table with only about an hour's notice for a Bank Holiday evening meal. When we arrived we encountered a small problem - the restaurant is described as "fully accessible" with dedicated accessible parking bays, but the car park was deep gravel and we couldn't find the accessible parking. Crossing it with two wheelchair users was very hard work. But with that hiccup out of the way, everything went much more smoothly. The landlady came out to help us in, and showed us to our table which had been already been prepared with chairs removed for wheelchair users. A highchair was on hand for our toddler, and there was even a mat to go under it to protect the carpet from food spills (this is a fantastic idea which I'm amazed I've never seen anywhere before!).I hadn't seen the menu before booking (the link on the website wasn't working) so we were going in blind, as it were. Most of the dishes are Welsh and English pub food, with a few others such as curries, and with main meal prices coming in at about £10-15. We were pleased to find a dedicated children's menu too, with a good choice of meals in two sizes. The landlady and the staff were a pleasure throughout. They chatted to our toddler across the bar, brought everything out with a smile and generally made us feel so welcome. The food was delicious - I had the Welsh pancake with leeks and mushrooms in a creamy cheese sauce. We often expect a frosty reception when we arrive with a small child and multiple wheelchair users, but our visit to the Harp couldn't have been further from that. We'll definitely return next time we're in the area.

My wife and I called in on Sunday evening for dinner. It was a really friendly welcome, comfortable layout, first impressions highly positive. The choice on the menu and the 'specials' board was great, the waitress friendly and efficient. BUT When the food arrived, it was disappointing. The quality of the ingredients was certainly high, but the taste of both meals (I had casserole, Sue had chicken and mushroom pancake) was bland. It could well have been just one of those things that can happen from time to time - there were certainly more positives than negatives but at the end of the day the meal itself didn't match everything else about The Harp.

On the first Sunday of our holiday and not wanting to cook, we stopped by "on the hop" and were easily accommodated. As we hadn't booked a table we couldn't sit in the main restaurant so we were shown into the small conservatory dining area. Despite being a busy time of day the staff remained helpful and friendly, although service was a little slower than we'd anticipated. The food was tasty, almost like home cooked, but the portion sizes were small, especially in relation to the final cost as no prices are shown on the menu.
