The best restaurants serving British food in Stow Hill Newport South Wales

Ordered an afternoon high tea and a savoury yesterday, the food was lovely plenty of filling in the sandwiches, I phoned to say something was missing from the high tea and in no time it was reckifed , but not just one item they sent more. First class service as always, have ordered Sunday roast dinners for tomorrow which in sure will be excellent thanks royal mail

My wife and I drove the 30 minutes to Newport in anticipation of an amazing meal from Holy Cheesus. And we were not disappointed.

Angie and the team were so friendly and kind. 💖 The "super" [huge] vegan breakfast was top-notch too Bring cash if possible! Paid for my drink with card, but I got cash out when I returned for food. Well worth breaking habit for such a nice place + people.

Brekky Girls monthly lunch date - ex Woolworths employees & friends, catching up over a meal in the best pub in Newport. EXCELLENT prices on food, open 7 days a week. Entertainment on weekends & a much used Rooftop terrace which is always busy

The worst service and atmosphere ever threw my food into the sandwich! Did not want to serve as they had already cleaned down, althought it was four in the afternoon and they close at 6 pm. I never write reviews could not believe the service and how the girl was employed, she is clearly not happy working at all. Food was good rest was awful!

Great pub in Newport City Centre, friendly atmosphere, great staff and they do a very good cooked dinner on Sundays choice of meats and a healthy portion of veg, gravy boats are served with each dinner well worth a visit and very reasonably priced

Excellent venue for events, I can't comment on the rooms, service or the food as I set up for a party but the staff were very friendly. It has a split level stage area lost if seating.

A very busy Wetherspoons pub. Always a pleasant atmosphere in there. Never seem to be enough staff working. They work flat out tbh. I had a pint of Doombar, £1.49 but it was poor. Lacked body and the flavour you get from a well looked after pint. The Worthingtons is £1.10 which is incredible value.

We use the otter a lot for lunch maybe once or twice a week, always have a very nice lunch and always treated well. It is always clean and the Christmas grotto look really good.

Had to give this a go as seen it on TikTok and my sister booked it for us all and we had a lovely time , the staff are rude but it’s not offensive and we all found it funny and would deffo go again

Having arrived at approximately 6pm on Friday evening, we sourced menus as not on tables, which were photocopies and stapled pages together, not a good first impression.

Just popped into the bar for linch, the food here is excellent and we were looked after by Georgina who could not have been more helpful, a true star for this hotel - we will be back
