Absolutely outstanding. On a recent visit to Newport in South Wales, I stumbled across the above bar/restaurant. Myself and family were totally surprised by this beautiful establishment. The welcome, the professionalism of the helpful and informative staff, the quality of the fresh and tasty food, and the ambience were perfect. I will look forward to visiting this area again just so I can visit this business!

So today myself and 8 other family members went to the queens brasserie after booking some weeks ago in preparation for it being a busy opening month.......never again! Upon entering it was clear it did not have any ambience of a restaurant, I felt like I was sitting on a put up table on a dance floor not in the middle of a brasserie, but things could only get worse!! a stapled paper drinks menu arrived, we ordered drinks which took about 20 mins, we received menu's not all the same, some had a adults others of us a childs, some had 2 sides others only 1 was printed (I should have know the seen was being set!) On chasing starters with the manager after over an hour we received luke warm soup from the microwave, a bread roll with butter that was fluid! the described pan fried assiette of garlic mushrooms and wild mushrooms, with brown butter foam sounded great but was in fact button mushrooms microwaved with garlic butter. AFTER A TOTAL OF 1HOUR 45 MINS with only a starter and drinks we left as couldnt be bothered to wait further. No apology from the manager, no sorry for the inconvenience......or have a voucher and try us again only insisted we paid in full for what we had. Mind you the whole time there the manager only sat and eat, or stood at the bar resembling someone off ramsay's kitchen nightmares who doesn't have the slighest clue how to run a brasserie which this is clearly NOT will be sticking with better options like Bistro Pierre or Ego at the Groes Wen in future recommend everyone des the same!

Visited with family for Mother’s Day. We waited 5 minutes at front of house with a few staff members walking past, nobody seemed to acknowledge us waiting but seemed very busy. Not the best start but as they looked busy, we let it go. Once we were seated downstairs we ordered drinks. As we leaned on our table we noticed a screw sticking out of the side of the table (a very important one which should make sure the table sits still and sturdy). This made it very difficult as we had to be careful not to move too quickly otherwise the drinks would be on the floor. A little while later the waiter came over to take our food order except he soon realised he hadn’t given us the menus. Menus were printed on A4 paper stapled together (granted they have only been open a month but this wasn’t very professional). Only one of our menus were printed double sided with the desserts but the rest were not. Aside from this, the male waiter with curly black hair was very attentive and we couldn’t fault him. Orders were taken. An hour and 30 minutes later our starters arrived. The man we believe was the owner (?) brought us our food. He said they had forgotten our food as it was sitting around but not to worry he had brought us fresh. Brilliant! Or so we thought. The starters had quite clearly been microwaved. Bowls were piping hot, as were the napkins that were underneath them. The bread was rock solid and the best part - the butter pats had been left on the plate and so when picked up, seeped out of the sides, it was completely liquid. We asked for new butter and in fairness, we were given some. When we read the menu the food sounded lovely, but when in front of you it was very disappointing. Once we finished our starters, 35 minutes later and we were still waiting for our mains. The male waiter/chef/front of house (we are not sure of his role as it seems he was made to do every thing!) was running around and doing an amazing job. It seems his talents and hard work are wasted here. We watched as the owner walked around whilst his workers worked their socks off. You’d think he would have got involved and helped. We watched as some of the servers ran up and down the stairs several times carrying stacks of chairs as it appeared they did not have enough for those that had booked in to eat. One of the younger servers sighed loudly several times whilst walking past us. The general atmosphere was poor and I didn’t see many others sat eating looking happy and enjoying the experience. Some others sat nearby to us were also disappointed by the long wait so we know it wasn’t just us. After our long wait, we decided to leave before our mains arrived. Not a single apology was given and instead, we were greeted with bad attitude and rudeness. I believe the owner should remember, in most circumstances the customer is always right and a little goes a long way. This ‘bar and brasserie’ has lots of potential and aren’t far off from being a fab place to eat, but lots of little changes to be made and a fresh attitude from the owner! It seems most of their budget was spent on advertising rather than actually renovating what is said to be ‘the best that Newport and the surrounding area has to offer’. Definitely won’t be returning any time soon.

Having arrived at approximately 6pm on Friday evening, we sourced menus as not on tables, which were photocopies and stapled pages together, not a good first impression.

Excellent venue for events, I can't comment on the rooms, service or the food as I set up for a party but the staff were very friendly. It has a split level stage area lost if seating.
