The best restaurants serving British food in Powys Mid Wales

We were staying in Hay and Drover offer the only charger for electric vehicles in the town (and it's free). They were generous with their suggestions of using it overnight. They sell maps for local road and MTB rides too, so after we'd been out on one, we stopped by for a coffee and cake. They sell energy bars and gels too, if you're stocking up before or during a ride. A very friendly team!

A lovely take away and cafe,in a fascinating old building We stopped here for coffee and a cake on our journey. Delicious cakes and excellent coffee. Faultless friendly service, fast and efficient. All the locals come here for their bread and lunchtime food. ! We thought it was brilliant!

Excellent. Booked a meal for a sunday and had the starter, which was tomato and red onion soup, which was amazing, followed by roast beef dinner, which was also amazing. Can't fault it at all. Reasonably priced, lovely service, friendly staff, and the food was spot on. So yes, I definitely recommend this, and they really deserve praise. Book early, though, as they are very busy to guarantee a table and time.

We had a lovely breakfast at Lychgate Cottage Tearoom. It is such a nice place, there were fresh flowers on the tables, the food was excellent and the staff are very friendly. We will definitely visit again!

We have to buy in bulk, and transport talerddig sausage rools over 300 miles for our daughter, that tells you everything you need to know. Lovely bread too

Really nice food all homemade I had a steak and ale pie very very nice 12 of us had food inc kids everything was really good and the desserts were excellent I'll definitely be making this a regular place to eat 100% recommend

As hoc stop for dinner after a long day on the hills was met with awesome food and great atmosphere. Julie and the chefs were brilliant- a genuine delight

Phew. When we moved here 10 years ago The Harp was legendary both us a pub and as somewhere to eat. We went there ourselves and recommended it to others. Then the woderful couple he owned it had to leave. Cue a long period when it was bascially avoidable. Now with new owners it's back to its best. Food is straightfoward, intersting, served well, and very well priced. Wine is amazing - the mark-ups are very refreshing and the choice is excellent. Basically everything is back to what it was and you need to support them!!

Excellent service fitted us in without a booking though this is not recommended. staff were very friendly food was top quality & plentiful.top quality ingredients. Catered for GF too will call again when in the area

Without a doubt the best home cooking I have had in years. This establishment is a little gem and the staff and chef are amazing and welcoming…. We will be back Phil and Julie x

Absolutely lovely country pub with fantastic views. Didn't eat....

We went there a couple of weeks ago and must apologise for taking so long to post a review. We went there with our son & his wife. The meal was delicious, no other word for it. The staff were welcoming, very friendly & helpful. The meal was very reasonably priced. We have tried lots of eating places around the area when we visit our family and we would certainly go back to this one.

Delicious meal, fantastic atmosphere, great service. Would thoroughly recommend. So lovely to see a pub thriving with people eating and drinking.
