Phew. When we moved here 10 years ago The Harp was legendary both us a pub and as somewhere to eat. We went there ourselves and recommended it to others. Then the woderful couple he owned it had to leave. Cue a long period when it was bascially avoidable. Now with new owners it's back to its best. Food is straightfoward, intersting, served well, and very well priced. Wine is amazing - the mark-ups are very refreshing and the choice is excellent. Basically everything is back to what it was and you need to support them!!

Sorry Not what it was! Food had mixed reviews at our table Starters: Tight with the gluten free bread (ONE little slice with all that lush duck pate to go with it?! )… for the sake of a few pence please divvy up! Main was nice but pork chops had a huge layer of fat (my dogs will love).. so not much actual meat. Dauphinoise pots nice but I like more creamy sauce (zero here) My pudding (like a crème brûlée but without the lovely crispy top) wasn’t good and the fruit with it tasted old and I don’t think it worked (flavours). BF’s profiteroles yummy! Service lovely View to die for (and might with the church next door haha!)

We visited for the first time since this lovely pub changed hands, having been fans of the previous set-up, and were greeted so warmly, every member of staff going above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The food was wonderful, so tasty and fresh, served in a timely manner and full of flavour. My partner and father-in-law had the lamb, which they loved, and I had the vegetarian option. So brilliant. It takes a skilled chef to make a veggie roast taste THAT good. What a winning combo. I wish the new owners and their staff every success. You deserve to do well, and we’ll be back! Thank you all for giving us such a lovely experience.

The meal was fantastic and generous: roast pork with perfect roasties and fresh vegetables. The local bitter was perfect and well cared for. And the staff handled a health emergency among the group with calmness and professionalism. Thanks so much to all the team.

We visited on a Saturday evening in the sun. The location is fantastic, being at the end of a road and looking out over the valley. We opted to eat outside in the warm evening and all really enjoyed our food - I had the lamb tagine which was especially good.

I’m a very happy returning customer to The Harp. This week we made a group booking, so that we could have a festive treat and enjoy their Christmas menu. Yet again the food was absolutely delicious! I had the ox cheek and it was so tender. The amazing food, magical festive atmosphere and excellent service ensured we all had a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this little gem!

This is the third time we have come here for lunch, and each time we have had just the BEST SUNDAY LUNCH EVER. Superb, every single element was stunning, the staff are helpful and friendly and the pub itself is set in the most stunning countryside. I cannot fault the experience, and I can’t wait to come back. Thank you to all the staff, and to the skilled chef. Brilliant!

Great pub and art gallery. Beer is always excellent with very good prices. Kevin's art is wonderful hung around the walls and the pool table and darts are always popular.

Amazing, I would give 6 stars if I could. A large group of us had a delicious selection of meals ranging from slow cooked beef brisket, halibut to a cheddar and spinach tart. Lovely dining room and immaculate service

We popped in for lunch and ordered the quiche and the Welsh Rarebit. A nice couple arrived celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary and sat on the table across from us. They ordered steaks from the menu and a bottle of prosecco. The server then turned on ambient music that was so loud that it was impossible to hold a conversation. I managed to turn it down just as the server appeared back to say that they had no steaks. I looked out of the window behind her and the nice couple to where I could see a lovely local butchers where I was pretty sure they sold lovely local steak! They could probably even deliver for free! The couple, disappointed ordered the fish and chips instead! Another couple arrived, were seated and given menus by the same server who mentioned nothing about the steak...a short while later she returned and they ordered... steaks...to also be told that they had no steak!! The piece of quiche that arrived was the smallest piece of quiche I've ever seen in my life and was almost lost in the garden of green leaves that surrounded it on the plate. If there was a big draft it would likely have blown off the plate. The Welsh Rarebit was soggy and tasted bitter. I asked if we could have a bigger piece of quiche. Ten minutes later the server returned to tell us that all the quiche pieces were that size. I explained the situation to the duty manager who apologised, didn't charge us and told me that the chef had recently left, the kitchen was staffed by trainees and the place was probably going to close down soon anyway. I suggested that they do so sooner rather than later and that the prosecco for the nice steakless couple should probably be free. We went to a nice deli down the road and purchased two single pieces of quiche about 10 times the size of the one we had been served...oh and there was indeed lovely fresh local steak in the butchers shop. Since then they have announced that the restaurant will close on 31st October 2024 Hopefully it will re-open one day with properly trained staff and a kitchen that makes the most of local produce and chefs who have the ability to cross the road.
