Lovely food, friendly welcoming staff, well worth the trip.

The food was excellent and the service was great. The price was very good too. £39 pounds for 2 meals and 2 drinks. My wife has given the gammon she had 15 out of 10 and she’s very picky. Definitely worth a visit and we have booked in next Saturday. Keep up the good work!!!

Out and about tmand we found this gem right at the start of a really good walk. I had the stake and ale pie was full and proper. We will be back again

Very welcoming. We stopped in our campervan overnight and the Host and staff where very friendly.we had some food and drink and really enjoyed the garden. Nice local walks. One to re visit

Cracking meal at the Admiral Rodney. Proper pub food without breaking the bank. The landlord was super-friendly and our young kids and dog were made to feel most welcome. Can't wait to go back!

We were spending a weekend in a local camping site near by. Decided to go for a bite locally. First we were very nicely greated by the gentleman behind the bar, very welcoming. The pub was probably the cleanest pub I have been in, despite being fairly busy. When the food arrived we were pleasantly surprised, it was delicious! They also cater for children. Do recommend 👌

We spent a night on the pub car park in our Motorhome. Stuart the Landlord is very welcoming and we managed a walk up to Rodney's Pillar before our evening meal.

As always Stu and his staff looked after us impeccably. The food was piping hot, well presented and there were very good portions. There is a good choice with a good selection of home made food. Highly recommended, with sensible prices.

If you like the outdoors you will love this pub! Lovely home cooking, great beer, and a good wine selection at affordable prices. The owners and staff are friendly and welcoming. Take a hike up to Rodney's Pillar and then have a pint and a bite to eat. Very dog friendly. Cosy fires and a lovely beer garden where you can hear the nearby brook. If you are lucky enough to be in the area when the Christmas illuminated tractor runs take place. This is the place to watch them go by and join in.

Came for Sunday lunch. Landlord very attentive, friendly atmosphere, great food as always. Been a few times and can’t fault it. Probably one of the best Sunday dinners in the area and great choice of puddings. Booking recommended.

Had a great Christmas lunch here. Easy to find and plenty of parking. Warm and comfortable inside with lovely Xmas decorations. The service was very efficient, professional and friendly. The food was all well cooked and generous portions. Especially enjoyed the crumble and custard. Good value for money too.

Great little pub serving good honest food. Cosy, friendly and traditional with really good ales, beers and wines. Try the Gammon or Lasagne, gorgeous and locally sourced. Service is always first class, and owners Stuart and Jo are super friendly. Excellent!

Felt really looked after when we turned up for a meal to remember my late father. He used to take me to the Rodney nearly 40 years ago. Sunday dinner was very good and the staff couldn't have been more helpful.

Absolutely love this place, Stuart the landlord must have a fantastic memory as he never forgets what we drink or our favourite food.

Not been here for many years, we were visiting friends in the area so decided to see if we could get a table so called up and was told yes no problem. Service was very good greeted by name, ordered drinks sat down told what Sunday lunch was available, ordered it and it arrived with in 10 minutes, cooked beautifully all fresh vegetables. Won't leave it so long next time 🥰

On arrival we were greeted by the owner , who was friendly and welcoming. We came here today as guests of some of my husbands work colleagues. The place was lovely and clean . Our food arrived, it was a beautiful Sunday lunch , homemade roast potatoes were delicious. The cauliflower cheese was to die for . We were so impressed we’ve booked again for my birthday and my mother in law whom we think will love the food and atmosphere. Looking forward to going again in July .

Gorgeous home cooked fresh to order food. Lovely location. Super friendly and accommodating. Spoilt for choice on the menu which is really reasonably priced. Only 17 miles from home (by bike) but feels like we’re on holiday. We’ll be back!

What can I say other than absolutely perfect. The food was fresh, piping hot and tasty. Desserts were home made and very moreish. Stu and Jo were the perfect hosts. Would highly recommend.

Great Sunday roast - not a plateful of frozen veggies, hand made desserts too. We took my elderly mum in law which can be difficult sometimes but the landlord was very kind and accommodating, he even made a fuss of her when she asked for biscuits to go with her cup of tea! Would go again and recommend.

Such a welcoming landlord! We couldn't comment on the food as they had been so busy and sold out of their entire menu! The landlord took pity on us however and gave us the last bowl of chips. They serve an excellent pint of local beer. We look forward to going back and trying the food properly.

Our go to, we have been several times, the food is always amazing, they add new dishes to the menu that never disappoints, good home cooking, great value for money, a warm welcome, we will keep returning. Dawn and Andy

Arrived at pub car park and admired the frontage enough to take a pic of it. Looked very inviting. Had pre booked for lunch and on entering were greeted by Stuart the owner with a welcome smile Shown to our reserved table and quickly seated. Drinks ordered and small but interesting menu perused. Short ish delay after ordering and food arrived freshly prepared. All four of us were amazed at the presentation of our selected dishes, they looked scrumptious. Silence fell at the table while we got stuck into our ample plates of food, occasionally murmers of pleasure at the quality and taste of our meals were heard. We all agreed that we had enjoyed the meal beyond our expectations. Prices too were reasonable. We decided to return again as quickly as possible All in all a great pub off the beaten track and a warm welcome from the landlord Ten out of ten. Thank you!! Bryan Jackson.

We went to the admiral Rodney for a family meal whilst on staycation. The food was delicious, great portion sizes and the service was top class. We would highly recommend this as must go to. Thank you we had a great evening

Booked in for Sunday lunch today and we had to add an extra person which was no trouble what so ever for the landlord. Very welcoming as we arrived nothing was too much trouble and the food was just perfect. We will definitely be returning very soon.
