Lovely pub in an amazing location. The food and drink was great and the staff really friendly. We were there in winter and the interior was lovely and cosy but I really want to go back and have a tipple or three looking out over the incredible view.

Had Sunday dinner here while on a trip away in Powys. The food was delightful and unlike some pub dinners, the serving size was very large. The meat and veg were cooked very well and the dessert crumble that I had was fantastic and the sticky toffee pudding that my partner had came in the tate and Lyle tin which was a nice touch and also delicious. Would highly recommend to people staying in the area.

We had a first-rate experience at The Harp. The new and recently moved-in owners have established a warm, friendly, welcoming ambience in the pub. The food and service were excellent, the staff attentive and friendly and the rooms warm and comfortable. We can’t wait to go back there - and take our dog with us this time to make the most of the excellent and nearby Hergest Ridge walks.

Thank you again to The Harp for a wonderful stay. We met the new owners Mel and Martin who looked after us brilliantly. Delightful hotel rooms warm clean and everything you could need. And the food is excellent good choice on the menu. Breakfast great choices especially the English breakfast. Food is hot and served with a smile, nothing is too much trouble for Mel and Martin. Lots to do and see around The Harp if you have not been it’s well worth visit. Get clear skies and look up you will see the Milky Way. Great parking and the prices are reasonable will definitely be going back

Very nice meal had in a lovely country pub with amazing views. We were a large party and the food was served in a timely fashion and was hot and tasty. The steak was a bug success with many remarking how nice it was. My fish and chips looked very impressive, and was tasty, but felt it was a little over cooked so didn't eat it all. Mushy peas and tartar sauce was very good.

A lovely roast dinner in a quaint pub. After a long hot walk it was a lovely venue to end up at. However, no ice on a boiling hot day dampened our spirits. Staff were lovely, although bribing children to behave with lollies we found was somewhat passive aggressive.

We were staying nearby and booked early tea on Saturday. Quiet when we arrived, starters came quickly, smoked trout pate was ok, my wife liked her figs. V quick also for mains, steak was ok, a bit gristly in places but cooked as ordered. Chicken was declared good. Irish coffee was lukewarm and we waited an age for my wife’s pud but they were charming and eager to please so it’s a 4. The wine was good value. They missed a drink off the bill but we owned up as they deserved it.

Our party was on holiday locally and we were recommended to try the pub out as it was only a short walk away as it was a nice place for food and to enjoy the views. To our surprise the pub was closed! I could understand if this was midweek however this was 1pm on a Saturday!Despite the website stating that they were open 12-3. We weren’t the only ones as another family also turned up claiming they had a booking and they were also turned away! This left us very disappointed and didn’t return during our stay as it was pot luck to whether it would be open.

It was a 'spur of the moment' request for a table on a Saturday night. I didn't expect to get one but we were lucky. We've been to the pub a couple of times before for a drink; this was out first time for food. It's a lovely location and it was a warm sunny evening, so we sat outside enjoying the views before going inside to eat. We had baked fig along with a selection of breads for starter which was really good followed by a chicken pasta dish and hake; both dishes were superb. For desert I had warm peach cake with ice cream, which was also very good. Not the hosts fault, but the experience was marred a bit by a noisy group in the same room. Otherwise a really enjoyable night. Service was excellent and the cost was very reasonable. We'll be coming again.

Excellent location and very friendly staff. They were very busy, which I always take as a good sign. Food was well presented and hot, even though we had followed a group of 20 other customers through the door Good choice of ales and cider, together with a reasonable wine list. Young guy behind the bar was super helpful, apologies I didn’t get his name. Highly recommended. I live nearby in Kington and will be back.

Today we had a truly exceptional Sunday lunch at the Harp Inn. The main course was cooked to perfection and thoroughly enjoyable. We had delicious roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, leeks au gratin, peas, mange tout, carrots and cabbage, served with good gravy. We had the lightest sticky toffee pudding ever with clotted cream ice cream. The service was welcoming. The views from the pub to the Shropshire hills are breathtaking. All in all a perfect Sunday lunch! We cannot recommend the Harp inn, Old Radnor, highly enough.

Supposedly the food is still just as good but as I've not tried it I can't comment, they have however recently lost their head chef who was by all accounts very good. Since the once thriving pub has recently changed hands it seems, if you are local you aren't welcome anymore, last orders seem to be 21.30hrs if not sooner, They seem to be only interested in passing trade and room bookings. There are a few local pubs who warmly welcome local trade and aren't in a rush to close the doors. Avoid if local

This is a lovely café situated in a small alleyway called The Backfold, which cuts through from the High Street to the front main entrance to the Castle and the main car park. If you're looking for a good British breakfast or brunch, or lunch, this is the best in Hay. Homemade, order by choosing from the outside board, choose a table number and then enter the café. It's tiny with limited seating but there's quite a few tables outside with umbrellas for protection against the elements. They do close early; about 2, but great food at great prices.
