The best restaurants serving British food in South West Scotland

Excellent food. Beef and ale pie melts in your mouth and the fish was perfect! Then comes dessert. Sticky toffee pudding drizzled with toffee sauce and ice cream from Arran. It is definitely the best I have ever had The restaurant is tucked away in a lovely garden area with lovely views in the summer. Staff are friendly and courteous with an amazing atmosphere. Coming here is a must!

Lovely lunch, Finished off with a delicious piece of Lemon Meringue Pie. Great place to visit especially on a beautiful sunny day.

Great service portions are enormous and very tasty

This used to be a lovely pub but since the people that owned it left it has gone down hill a little bit. Whoever, owns it now needs to spend some money and give it a bit of a spruce up, the seats have been torn and look shabby plus paintwork is dirty and has marks on it. Toilets are clean but could be better. Staff were lovely but there is only so much they can do to keep it looking clean. Would like to seeing back to how it used be when you walk in, clean, bright and welcoming.

Excellent fish suppers, very tasty and freshly made, well priced too. The chicken suppers and pizza were also good, staff were pleasant and helpful.

The menu was very nice and a great selection of starters and mains. The staff were very friendly and very helpful in answering our questions. The meals were served promptly and they were hot. The dessert was also very tasty and I recommend the terramisu! Heather, our waitress was very friendly and had a great sense of humour too. She is also a co-owner with her husband Vito who is the pizza chef

Good honest food at good honest prices. Great service and great atmosphere. There’s nothing not to like here. A warm friendly welcome from helpful staff that can’t do enough to help makes it a ‘must try’ when you’re on the island. You won’t regret it!

All three of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals, in this spacious pub. Haggis bon bons? Don't mind if I do! That burger too, tasted exactly how it's meant to, like real beef...

My friend and I were at Brookside today for afternoon tea. We were both very impressed the food was lovely and plentiful. Very good value for the price.

A huge thank you to Irish Liz who makes our family birthday brunches amazing. She is a credit to the owners. Her service is professional, friendly, kind, courteous and attentive. Her jolly jovial personality turns a good service into a great service. Our food was also amazing and the coffee, tea and cakes that followed were also lovely. All of the staff were great. However Liz just makes our day at GG s. Highly recommend.

Had a quick meal before heading to ayr racecourse

Went in for breakfast and I was met by a young lady named jenna so happy and cheerful so willing to help absolutely lovely person nice to see that early in the morning Thank you very much

A very welcoming pub and restaurant with a lovely atmosphere and excellent staff who were very pleasant and efficient. Amazingly varied and interesting menu and all the dishes we had were excellent. Large portions using local produce and well presented. Delicious.

Love menu £5 very good for family been a lot of times and Megan has been our server and she is great with my granddaughter and explains things well

Visited here to have lunch with a friend, as celebrating my recent retirement, warm friendly,family orientated atmosphere. Food cooked to absolute perfection! Scallops. Were awesome . Chicken Balmoral with a superb sauce . Staff couldn't do enough for us, 5 stars from me,what an awesome experience,
