Very disappointing. Busiest weekend in the Largs calendar and this poor pub/bar/restaurant was ill equipped to cope with the footfall. Been a couple of years since I have been in this facility, but very sad to see the demise of a lovely wee local. The place was filthy dirty, food would take over 1 hour and bar staff unable to manage queues at the bar. Hope the next time I visit this review will help them constructively to put the appropriate measure in place to restore the reputation of not just my opinion but the opinion of fellow customers.

We arrived a bit late and the staff were amazing, letting us order food even though the karaoke was about to start. We ordered pies and mash and they were brilliant. Lady doing the karaoke was so friendly. We had a fab night. Bar staff were very welcoming too.

Visited on a Wednesday afternoon for lunch and drinks. Musicians playing inside restaurant, as we ate and drank in the sunshine of the beer garden, out back. Seafood pizza was great, as was the neck oil. Friendly staff and punters. Would hurry back. Best pub in Largs!!

In a busy crowded bar on a festival weekend cautiously asked if there were any gluten free options on the menu. The bartender went to ask the chef who came out to talk with me. Said he had some gluten free flour and offered to whip up a batch of fish and chips. Delicious. Chef stopped by the table later to check in. I’m very impressed how accommodating Scotland is for dietary restrictions. Very friendly establishment.

Chose here as our friends had a dog and the pub is dog friendly. Sat in the beer garden under some umbrellas and they brought water for the dogs. We all had fish and chips which were great and a couple of drinks each. Was quite surprised by the bill it transpired that a pint of IPA in a pub on the corner in the back streets of Largs had cost me £6 and the Guinness £5 a touch pricy we thought

I've never reviewed anywhere before but I'm so angry I felt I had to do this. Four of us went for something to eat and not one of us had anything worth paying for(but we did). Cold and inedible was the general consensus. Firstly we were given the wrong meals. Then we waited another half hour to get the correct ones. We were in the beer garden which was full of drunks swearing like troopers in front of families. When I went to the toilets I couldn't believe there is CCTV in them. My husband said that cameras in the gents are pointed at the urinal. The owners were working the male owner was drunk and swearing at the staff and the female owner who served us at the bar was incredibly rude. We will never be in there again. We paid although we shouldn't have(it's also incredibly expensive). It was pointless complaining, another group of customers were complaining and the response they received was a joke. I'm still fuming. Absolute incompetence of the highest level.

Was out in Largs for a few drinks with my wife, and it had been years since I was last in Sharps Bar. Not much has changed in that time, as its still easily the best pub in Largs. Dark and dingey, but in a cool sort of way. Good selection of drinks on offer and at good prices. Will most certainly be back again in future.

J.G. Sharps is a very smart pub. The decor is traditional, ie lots of dark wood, ceiling beams, red leather seating and rustic stone walls. The service was friendly and our Tennents was crisp and refreshing. On the Sunday evening we visited however, there were relatively few people in the bar so there was no atmosphere to talk about, and the atmosphere among customers and staff seemed to be that of shared boredom. Covid has also hit the business pretty hard and a notice advised that they are currently only opening at weekends. I believe that this is to do with staffing concerns, but it also seems that they are seeking new owners. Perhaps this has contributed to this general feeling of malaise. Based on this visit I can really only rate this as an average pub, but on a previous visit a couple of years ago we experienced a completely different, vibrant atmosphere and are aware of the potential that this pub has to be the best in town. I certainly wish everyone concerned the best of luck.

Stopped here when we couldn't get in anywhere else because every restaurant was booked up due to eat out to help out. A real local pub feel, very friendly, welcoming and helpful staff who gave us ideas of day trips for our staycation. Food was super cheap and the home made pizzas were fab!

JG Sharps is a beautiful looking pub with low ceilings, beams, thick stone walls and traditional decor including cosy, leather wall seating. It is clearly a very popular pub and the atmosphere is really nice. The service was also very good and this is a really top bar.

Stumbled across JG Sharps on a day out to Largs with my dog and I’m so glad I did! Staff couldn’t have been friendlier or more welcoming to me and my boxer. Put the football on for us, gave her some water and treats and jumped around for a cuddle any time the bar was quiet! The locals all very sociable and quick to strike up a conversation about pretty much anything! Nice wee beer garden out the back for sunny days or to let the kids run around a bit. It got really busy after the local football games finished and the place was buzzing which all got a bit much for Miley (my dog) so we hit the road but it was great to see a wee local pub with a buzz around it! I’ll definitely return on my future trips to Largs.

My wife and I have been to this pub for a drink so decided to give it a go for lunch in the beer garden on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Felt a bit stung when I bought a bottle of wine to sit outside and got charged an extra £1 as I paid by debit card, even though I was buying good. The menu was basic pub grub, almost all deep fried with absolutely no healthy options. There was also no cooking skills on offer evidenced by a portion of shop bought onion rings at £1.75. Our burger (£6.95), panini with tuna mayo (£5.95) were hot enough and well served by attentive staff.Beer gsrden is an attraction as is the football on TV. Food offering is just disappointing given the local competition.

Glad to hear Sharps is still going strong. We were there last July visiting Largs for the first time. The pub was pretty empty and seemed to be off the beaten track. The staff were very friendly, the whiskies were wonderful and so was the real ale. Really super pub. A few locals came in and we all had some good laughs and banter. Good to learn it's busy at times and does good meals. We're from London but we're coming to wonderful Largs again soon and we'll be back at Sharps drinking the whisky again. Can't wait.

This is a well known bar where many locals choose to go ( that tells you something) The food is excellent, a wide range of beers, whiskey's wines and other drinks are on offer, while a friendly good humoured staff are there to serve you.Perhaps one weekend you may not fancy cooking Sunday Lunch, why not take the day off and visit Sharp's Bar where in addition to the extensive menu the Sunday Special 'Traditional Roast Dinner ' is available, it is lovely, a good portion of roast beef with gravy ( no skimping here) Roast and mashed potatoes with two vegetables all at a very acceptable price, probably less than it would cost you to buy the ingredients, pay for your gas or electricity to cook it , the hot water to wash the dishes or the cost of turning on your dish washer, not to mention your own time which could be better doing something you enjoy, altogether an excellent experience. So, next Sunday, just do it , give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

Using a retirement voucher and had an early evening dinner. Decor lovely, staff very pleasant. Pity the food doesn’t match. Couldn’t eat the batter on the butter chicken as it was brick hard, onion rings hard , chips tasteless and again overcooked. Steak pie - top layer of steak was burnt and inedible. Starter bread was tasty. Took far too long to be served despite being almost empty. We mentioned to the waitress about our food and we were only charged for drinks and bread. Whilst this is a great gesture, our evening was ruined. Not be back any time soon. Such a shame as it has the potential to be excellent.

We played two rounds at Lamlash on the weekend of 10th May and really enjoyed the experience. Relatively short course, but by no means easy and some tremendous scenery to view throughout. We were fortunate to have great weather as well. We were well looked after by Drew at the Starters Box on Friday and again by James when we played on Sunday. Sincere thanks to both gentlemen for looking after us. If we are back to Arran again for golf we will for sure play Lamlash. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Drinks one visit, delicious meal the next. Besides the great food and service on our visits, I lost my glasses there and didn't realise until I got home. Not only did the Ormidale staff find my glasses, they also took the time to phone and let me know and post them to me. Above and beyond. We would highly recommend The Ormidale for its service, atmosphere, food and after care of careless customers! Thank you.

Went in, and girls ran off their feet, and had a sausage supper, and a half standard/half special fish supper. Girls were lovely, and the food was outstanding. Best chippy in Largs by a mile. It's a bit chaotic, as all good traditional Italian chippys should be. Wouldn't go anywhere else. 5 star from us.
