The best restaurants serving British food in Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh Highland Highlands and Islands

We arrived a little to early but it gave us some time to enjoy the gardens. All the plants were lovely and so was the food in restaurant. We only ordered coffee and some small portions, as we were between meals - but the portions were actually quite big. And very fresh and soooo tasty 😋

We went to the Shieling twice when we were staying in Poolewe. Firstly just for a snack and drink after a walk however ended up having soup and a sandwich which was very generous in portion size “he doesn’t do small “ the waitress said laughing. I had mushroom soup which was delicious and my partner had the Cullen Skink which she declared the best ever! As it was so good we booked to return with our friends for lunch on the Friday, we all had fish and chips or scampi all of which were really fresh and tasty. The staff are really helpful and friendly and service was great. I would definitely recommend the Shieling if you are in the area but booking ahead especially in high season and weekends are a must.

If you’re in Shieldaig you must stop here, the minute you enter and feel the relaxed and friendly vibe and smell of fresh food cooking you will already know you’ve stumbled upon a gem. We had two morning rolls with black pudding and they were of supreme quality and priced fairly, the home made cakes are to die for and the coffee is great. It’s an interesting cafe too with local information and crafts to browse.

We have been to the Clachan many times. The atmosphere is great and staff are always friendly and welcoming. Food is also exceptional! Would highly recommend.

Restaurant was only open very limited hours at the time of our visit due to Covid restrictions. Had a nice meal and wine at reasonable price served by very helpful, friendly staff

Pris un petit déjeuner bien copieux (avec un peu de Haggis dans la formule) qui nous a bien calé malgré la pluie à pieds ensuite, bon accueil

Stayed for one night and had a very enjoyable time. The bedroom was comfortable, the bathroom looked very new with an excellent shower. Had a couple of pints and dinner in the bar area which was great. Food was really very good. Had breakfast in the restaurant area overlooking the loch. The porridge was great. Overall very friendly staff. Would be happy to stay there again.

Out of this world good food! The fish and chips were the nicest ever tasted, honestly never had such incredible batter! We had a wonderful meal here this evening and thanks for the intro to Isle of Harris gin which is now a firm favourite 🍸❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🚐🙌🏽 An absolute gem, just gutted we were too late to book food for Hogmanay!

A delightful stop on our motorbike tour of Scotland. Delicious array of desserts, beautiful setting overlooking the Loch, outside and inside seating, really friendly staff and good parking for the bike. Just Perfect!

This is a lively and welcoming old fashioned proper pub. There were local beers on the bar which were a good pint. The log fire was blazing and the food really good.

Lovely little spot for a take-away breakfast. Opted for the blue cheese and ham toastie and it was superb. Ate it with a lovely coffee to accompany by the harbour making friends with a cheeky crow who shared my passion for a tasty snack.

Called in today for a coffe and a slice of cake it took 30 mins for the coffee to appear and when it did they had forgotten about the cake that we had paid for and orferd cake was OK coffee was awfull the table we where sat at was filfy and near by tables looked worse the prices in the shop attached to it are disgusting daylight robbery plz avoid unless younwant to be ripped of

Wonderful takeaways which were very much enjoyed during Covid times when other local places were shut. Very efficient service!

Awful customer service very rude staff to the point we left before we ordered. Says 5 star on poster but this really isn’t true, do not recommend.

We ate here on Saturday past, we both had the macaroni with chips. Both the chips ( home cooked ) and the macaroni again home cooked were to die for, the best macaroni we have ever tasted. A very big well done to the staff and the chef.
