This is a lively and welcoming old fashioned proper pub. There were local beers on the bar which were a good pint. The log fire was blazing and the food really good.

We had the pie that was sadly cold when it came to the table, at £40 for a sharing pie a little disappointed. We had it reheated but had no apology. It was also quite salty and due to being heated in the microwave the suet pastry was hard so I only ate the filling.

We were enticed by the great reviews, but felt disappointed. The food was fine, just not as wonderful as the reviews, and the Chef Award, led us to believe. I had sea trout. Large fillet, but unfortunately overcooked. Dessert (cheesecake) was lovely. All in all, overpriced for the quality provided.

We went to Glenelg via the famous Glenelg turntable ferry and stopped for lunch at the Glenelg inn. There was a great menu including Sunday lunch of roast venison and all the trimmings, vegetarian choices and a good choice of starters, mains and deserts. We chose the fish and chips ( hand cut and cooked daily) and the venison cheese burger and chips which were both very good. The beer choices were great too.

We ate here twice on a recent trip to the area. Menu is on a chalkboard by the fireplace and they rub choices out as they run out - so good to go early if you want most choice. It’s one year since I visited Glenelg last time and there was an exciting anticipation in arriving once again. After a horrific week on the East coast of non stop rain and flooding throughout even up as far as Inverness the approach to Glenelg was dry sunny and very welcoming. With there only being the one place to drink and eat out the Glenelg Inn offers highland hospitality to all who cross the threshold. The walls are adorned with historical pictures and books to look over even guitars hang for anyone wishing to play and a few Italians we met did just that. The menu this year had moved up a notch, the same chef had upped his game and we three were delighted to on a cold evening after a walk opting for the pea and ham soup a delight all over the country, however this was a soup that broke barriers. Normally made from marrow fat peas and ham hock this was not the norm. This was made from green frozen peas which are the healthiest of them all in a delicious ham stock and what I thought were croutons were in actual fact cubes of dried smoked ham which on breaking with one’s teeth revealed a sumptuous taste sensation so much so had we not already ordered our mains we would have had another bowl. Served with a delicious homemade seeded bread it was well worthy of a Michelin grade 10/10. As an ex chef and restaurateur alongside my fellow restaurateur we were very impressed. This is one of those dishes chefs keep on the menu. My fish n chips were also a great dish bound in the lightest almost tempura batter and lovely white flesh moist to taste. In this part of the world they serve an Angel cut or a block. I’m more used to the J cut with haddock. My friends enjoyed the Venison burgers also homemade which were thick juicy and delicious. I enjoyed their home made hand cut chips last year and dreamt of them as we arrived this year, I wasn’t let down they were as always perfection, thick well cooked browned ( I detest bought in frozen white chips) fresh potato chips a great sign for any establishment like they do on the island of Crete where serving frozen chips will push you out of business. No room for dessert although they too looked inviting and all homemade. Guinness and coffee finished us off. The service was on point with the staff looking after a busy room full of tourists darting from table to table. It’s a 10 from us

We are holidaying nearby and went for dinner on Sunday night. We were blown away by the vegan choices - two starters, four mains and two desserts. All of the food was beautifully cooked and presented and was, hands down, the best vegan food we’ve had out in ages. Service was spot on and there was a cracking atmosphere - we felt very welcome. We took our own wine as they don’t currently sell any vegan ones and we were charged a small fee for corkage. Booking is essential for dinner… the place was very busy. We loved it so much we’re going for lunch today and dinner on Saturday. Give them a visit, you won’t be disappointed.

Visited Glenelg Inn for dinner after a driving tour of the Isle of Skye. This traditional pub serves up some delicious fine dining. We ordered the Venison Pie for two. It was absolutely the best meal we had during our three weeks in Scotland. Followed by a warm brownie with hazlenut ice cream and hazelnut brittle, our dining experience was complete. Reservations are highly recommended. While visiting Glenelg Inn, drive an extra 5 minutes to see two brochs, ancient large stone house structures. They are pretty amazing and are rarely visited by tourists. Also look into riding the little ferry that connects Glenelg's small community to the Isle of Skye. It's the world's only operating turntable ferry. The deck rotates on top of the hull so that cars can drive on and off easily. What a cool thing to experience. Altogether with the ferry and the nearby brochs, the Glenelg Inn is a foodie destination that is very unique and rewarding.

Not for us! We booked our meal when we booked our B&B. On arrival we were shown to our 'claustrophobic ' table in a corner with 2 seats both facing a wall! We asked to be moved and were shown to a lighter area of the restaurant. However the restaurant was dark and noisy and very smokey - from fire and all the lit candles in wine bottles on each table. My headache got worse because of the smoke and noise - I was unable to eat my gluten free fish and chips in the restaurant and asked if I could have them to take away? I had to leave and head back to our B&B! Hubby brought my gf fish ad chips overto the B&B but unfortunately I couldn't eat them as they were coverd in salt!! If I wanted salt on the fish and chips I would have added it myself - I HATE SALT!!! Why put condiments on the table???

We came here from Morvich, about 25minute drive and it was well worth it. The views on the way are lovely. The Inn was warm and friendly with good service. The food was fantastic and reasonably priced for this day and age. The fish and chips appeared to be very popular for good reason. The batter was light and crispy and the fish was a fair size and tasted really fresh. 3 members of our party were waxing lyrical about it. There is a small salad that comes with the fish which had a dressing that my wife loved, so much so, I didn’t get to eat any of it. She normally leaves the green stuff to me! The pork belly was delicious too. Good friendly atmosphere. Would definitely come back if in the area.

I enjoyed every mouthful and not only did the tender stem broccoli, carrot and star anise purée and honey roast beetroot taste delicious with it, the colours were stunning on the plate. With black pudding and potato rosti too, this was such a well thought out dish. My husband and I were still talking about it the following day! I was very impressed with the lovingly crafted vegan and vegetarian options. So often we are just stuck with a veggie burger or uninspired pasta dish, but Glenelg Inn had exciting choices. I had the gnocchi and it was one of the best meals I had on my trip, with delicate flavors and edible flowers. Just perfect. My husband had the venison burger and said it was tasty as well.

It's a pity - this meal didn't deliver for us. It is a lovely place with plenty on character it just left us feeling underwhelmed. Hopefully we were just unlucky.

We stopped here for lunch. The pub is quaint and yet accommodating the staff friendly. There is a menu board for lunchtime. There is a short wait as the food is freshly prepared. The quality is good and the portions generous. The staff seem to take a pride in where they work and it is not disappointing for the patrons. Well done to the management as they try to give good service to visitors unlike some other places we have visited.

Avremmo voluto ritornare e spero avrò ancora l’occasione. Fantastico. Consigliato a tutti.

It is always a pleasure to visit the Glenelg Inn (partly because it means you must be in Glenelg!). Really nice atmosphere; book in the pub (same food) for atmosphere, restaurant for quiet. You may need to book well in advance, especially for a pub table.

A group of us dropped in here for lunch, and were all very happy. I shared a meat and a cheese platter with my partner, which had a very good selection of items, and some delicious goats cheese. The others were all pleased with their salads and light lunches, too, and service was good.

Dropped in for lunch on a cool, sunny day. The bar was warm and cozy with a fire blazing in the hearth. We're always interested when a chef offers something a little different. For lunch on this day the menu offered gnocchi filled with field mushrooms rolled in pesto and toasted pumpkin seeds. It was simple and simply divine! Service was great, friendly and attentive, and the restaurant's waterfront location is beautiful. Well worth the visit.

We know the Tongue area very well, and like to eat locally, so it was obvious we would decide to eat at the Craggan, and i'm happy we did! The restaurant area is welcoming and clean, staff friendly, and the car park was easy even with a big van. The only problem was choosing from the menu! So many tasty things - i wish we had more time to visit again.. All three of us enjoyed our food, and we shared everything so i know it was all delicious. Thank you for making a rather wet evening so special..

This was a lovely experience, the food was not ' swimming in grease' as i saw from another review, but it was great to see that the more recent reviews have been validated. We went here for my birthday at the end of october and honestly everything was really lovely . the service was great they were so friendly from the getgo, the charcuterie board we had for starter was very filling and diverse just wish they would have told us what the cheeses were ( i think the brie was from tain though it was familair) but thats a minor niggle that we had no info. the main courses were fab the skin on chips were AMAZING , and its a dog friendly place which we loved , we dont have dogs but we did get to pet some which made our day !

Stopped for the night while doing the NC500 with my husband and 8 + 9 year old kids, one of the only places in Thurso that you can have a sit down meal! Absolutely delicious meal, got the chicken Ceylon roll as a starter and it came out piping hot and so fresh!! The flavours were absolutely amazing! My husband had the medium spice chicken Ceylon curry and said it was amazing, the flavours and spices were absolutely spot on! I had the mild beef Ceylon curry and it was equally as good! All cooked fresh to order and you can tell as it was piping hot and so fresh to taste! There is a children’s menu for the fussier eaters, my daughter had spaghetti and my son had a burger and there was no complaints from them! Our first time trying Sri Lanka food and won’t be our last thanks to this restaurant! Staff are delightful as well☺️
