We booked for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Fabulous vibe, and the restaurant was really busy. There was a slight delay in being served, but the food we had was excellent. We ordered cauliflower pakora for starter to share with a bottle of water and bottle of sauvignon blanc. We ordered the winter salad with chicken and one without with a side of fries. All was delicious and will definitely go back. Including 10% tip total cost was £83.95.

We arranged to meet our son this afternoon in Nairn to exchange Christmas gifts as this was "half way" between where we live and where he lives. Thanks to traffic and parking difficulties we finally arrived at the Classroom - just as the kitchen had closed!! No problem at all, the young man and lady servers sorted us out with great service and lovely food - we were all starving and left with full tummies. Added bonus is they are dog friendly and wee Ivy enjoyed fresh water and treats too. They really went above and beyond and we will most definitely return. Highly recommend - thank you.

We went for an Afternoon Tea expecting it to be as good as its write up. Thoroughly disappointed the 4 tiny sandwiches looked to be cut by a child, scones were crumbly and extremely cold. I asked for mine to be warmed. The promised cream was missing and the service was poor I had to go up to counter a couple of times. I think they are missing a trick as an Afternoon Tea isn’t hard to produce.

I thought I would try this place for a change when I last visited Nairn. The place has real classic style. On entrance I wondered if I was too early as the place was largely empty. I was asked if I was part of a larger party? I was then asked how long I would be? I only wanted tea and a scone. I did enjoy the tea and scone, but it was obvious they were concentrating on the later arrivals. I can't give five stars, it wasn't a great service or welcome.

This was a lovely experience, the food was not ' swimming in grease' as i saw from another review, but it was great to see that the more recent reviews have been validated. We went here for my birthday at the end of october and honestly everything was really lovely . the service was great they were so friendly from the getgo, the charcuterie board we had for starter was very filling and diverse just wish they would have told us what the cheeses were ( i think the brie was from tain though it was familair) but thats a minor niggle that we had no info. the main courses were fab the skin on chips were AMAZING , and its a dog friendly place which we loved , we dont have dogs but we did get to pet some which made our day !

We started to go back to the classroom after a break of about a year, we had two good visits recently but this time we discovered they had changed the menu not for the better, the starter main and dessert I enjoyed all had been deleted from the menu, so both of us had fish and chips they were both poor frankly, thick batter with little fish, the pea purée was strange the peas didn’t seem cooked and tasted weird. They had live music in a very small venue nice try but didn’t work. Staff are attentive and pleasant. They had patatas brava as a starter fried potatoes in a hot sauce Spanish tapas. Cried potatoes for a starter a strange one.

Disappointing. Didn't have the burger one of us wanted initially (pork and chorizo) so opted for the black pudding and haggis one instead... Cheek to describe it as anything but a plain burger. Not a hint of haggis or black pudding, and a whiff of a salad leaf on it. Better burger from McDonald's which is a shame. Chips pretty tasteless, though a nice texture. Also didn't have the dessert I had wanted either. Mediocre at best. Server could have told us what wasn't available from the menu at the start, but for both main and dessert they waited until we had decided what we wanted and asked for, to then be disappointed not to be able to get first choice when the kitchen told them they had none left. Poor service in that regard. Wish we had spent our money elsewhere.

The menu is uninspired with very little in the way of vegan / plant based food unless you love vegan cheese. Lovely place in Nairn, friendly staff. We ordered a simple steak each, Medium rare with a small side salad and a bottle of red wine. When the food came it was a mountain of food. Somehow they thought we'd ordered a steak platter each !!One plate would easily feed two people so we had enough food for four people! Plus a large mixed salad and a large Caesar salad (no chicken but anchovies?) this was after the seasonal veg was wrongly delivered. It did spoil the evening as we were both looking forward to a simple steak and a glass of decent red wine. It was a complete mess. The platter is a large salad with cheesy chips and chunks of steak all mixed together on a large wooden plate .I did say this was not what we'd ordered but was told that's how the steak is served. So we went ahead with it , but could barely eat half of it . And it really wasn't what we ordered or wanted. We did have a chat ,there was an apology of sorts and the bill was made out for what we actually ordered. Overall very very disappointed.

Food, service and atmosphere are all up there. The menu is typical for a bistro with all the classics being present. Prices are affordable and pretty good value, on par with what you'd expect today in the wider UK. Staff were lovely, very down to earth and easy to talk to. I had booked and would recommend that you book also because there aren't many other restaurants in the area so it tends to be pretty busy. This made my visit to Nairn worthwhile as I wasn't a big fan of the rocky beach or the town centre to be honest. I'd highly recommend this restaurant!

We (my brother and I) were greeted with a smile by a young lady who was very welcoming and friendly..We had to wait a little bit for food but that was our fault for being in so early and food (main meals) didn't start until 12 (which we were made aware of) food came out soon after 12 and was lovely molten bowl of macaroni cheese cheesy goodness.. I was warned by the server lady it was very warm she wasn't wrong 😂..All of the staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful it has lovely food and a good choice of drinks too.. Not sure why we were treated in this way because we went by about half hour later and many tables were empty? Face didn’t fit ? Clothes not trendy enough? English accent? The burgers were good, but just a bit dry - none of the opulence in the pictures. The just too eoon burger belongs - not enough sauces, not enough lettuce, onions, cucumber - in one the tomato has everything. missing. All patties deserve special praise for this, great quality! And: the pepper sauce that was ordered and paid for was ripped out, it was sensationally good! The Caesars salad didn't quite live up to expectations either, but hey, compared to what else there is in Nairn, it's certainly one of the best options for a decent dinner.

During our stay in town we sat in at the classroom for lunch once and supper twice. The food was fantastic 2/3 times. The third time the bun of the burger was stale and didn’t have any dressing on it, making the burger really dry. However, the server did get us additional condiments when we asked. We also got a Caesar salad that had way too much dressing. For anyone ordering this salad, I’d recommend asking for the dressing on the side. Despite these things, the rest of the meals we had were tasty. The staff were friendly and provided good service. For the issue with the burger, our server happily gave us a discount on the meal as an apology which was much appreciated. Overall we enjoyed our experiences at the Classroom and would recommend to others.

Had mussels for starters, the lamb burger for main and a cocktail for dessert, all very nice, especially the sauce and bread for the mussels. Only thing I'd knock is it seemed like the staff were really overworked. They were all friendly and professional, can't fault them at all, but my drink arrived after my starter and the waiter said the bar was backed up because there was only one person working on it. When I arrived at the time I booked, the person that greeted me said she still need to clean the table too, not a problem but she seemed a little stressed about it. Maybe the business could put one or two more staff on to improve the experience for the customer and to save the rest of your staff a little stress, they were all great and deserve to be well supported!

There is a lot to like about this place, the food is very good but I must say I thought the starters and puddings were not great value for money, the mains were though. Great cocktails and a good wine list with prices you would expect. Unfortunately we were put onto a small table close to the toilets door and although they are upstairs there was a smell of cleaning products. The disabled toilet was not upstairs or locked so people were using it a fair bit and they wasn't a great experience. The place was busy and the staff handled it very well, it's a bustling place so not for a quiet romantic meal, at least not where we sat which is also close to the bar.

Once seen to a table, I ordered the battered haggis balls , which at £7 were in the expensive side for 3. When they arrived they were 90% oats, 10% haggis. Never seen this before and very upset to have paid so much for oats. Burger and chips were nice but if I were to guess burger was grilled ahead of time and then kept warm / heated up in the over later to serve which led to a lack of that flames grilled taste. For £17 I would expect to have chosen how I wanted my burger cooked but alas not. Would not attend again.

Service was very slow and inefficient. Multiple times we had to get up and go get a waiter. We were left sitting with plates stacked around us, we had to start moving them to the window sill and they still weren't cleared. 15 minutes AFTER I ordered they came back to say neither vegan burger on the menu was actually available and offered me what turned out to be a pathetic breaded, mushed vegetable patty instead (like the cheapest ones you'd get from Iceland) with a laughable two tiny bits of onion as garnish. Two people pushed their meat mains away while two others were bland, mediocre but passable. The vegan options are basic (curry, mac & cheese), the only decent thing being the £8 for 3 arancini balls. Beer menu is particularly bland but I needed something to pass the long wait between courses. Once dragged over by the ear at the end the waiter admitted that he hadn't given us good service but did nothing more to fix it. It was a stressful and unpleasant dinner with children that we eventually just sent home early because everything was so slow. Can't believe the 4.5 star reviews for basically expensive Wetherspoons fare while the service is this dreadful.

Came for the pub quiz. It's a big pub with a long bar that goes around the corner, making it a bit fragmented.. If they focussed on the basics it could be a really good pub. Nice building, interesting features. But not sure if the revolving door really belonged in a classroom... Maybe I haven't be in enough classrooms. Staff are trying their best. Prices are very high though . Place is always spotlessly clean . And it's obviously popular as every time I've been, the pub has been full up.... Or maybe that's as a result of the epic Quizmaster. Could do better.

Came here while on holiday as wanting good fish and chips. Battered haddock was really tasty, nice flakey fish, lovely crispy batter. Children's potions generous, and meal for them came with a good ice cream sundae. Can recommend.

Waited an hour for toasties, bad bread. Waitress did not seem apologetic. Expensive for what it was.

Great spot for dinner. We had a roast beef and steak and ale pie, both were delicious. Service was good. Let down by the chili mango Margherita cocktail, however as it wasn’t up to scratch with the rest of the meal.

Food was lovely and the service was good although it does take a bit long for order to come to the table even when the restaurant is quiet at least 30min wait or sometimes longer so be prepared to be there a while

We know the Tongue area very well, and like to eat locally, so it was obvious we would decide to eat at the Craggan, and i'm happy we did! The restaurant area is welcoming and clean, staff friendly, and the car park was easy even with a big van. The only problem was choosing from the menu! So many tasty things - i wish we had more time to visit again.. All three of us enjoyed our food, and we shared everything so i know it was all delicious. Thank you for making a rather wet evening so special..

I recently had the pleasure of spending a delightful day at Dores Inn, and I still find myself reminiscing about the experience six months later. Nestled along the shores of the iconic Loch Ness, this charming inn offers a perfect blend of stunning views, a warm atmosphere, and exceptional service. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a lovely ambiance that sets the tone for a relaxing visit. The inn has ample seating, both indoors and outdoors, making it easy to find a cozy spot to enjoy the picturesque scenery. We opted for an outside table, and it turned out to be the best decision of the day. The views of the loch were absolutely breathtaking, providing a serene backdrop for our meal. Speaking of the meal, I must rave about the food—simply sublime! I usually find coleslaw unappealing, but Dores Inn's homemade version was a game changer. It was fresh, flavorful, and complemented our dishes beautifully. Every bite was a testament to the culinary care that goes into their offerings. After our satisfying meal, we joined a Rib-Boat journey on the loch, which was an exhilarating way to experience the surroundings. The thrill of speeding across the water, combined with the breathtaking views of the loch and its mythical charm, made for an unforgettable adventure. As a memento of our day, I couldn't resist purchasing one of their handmade crochet teddies of Nessie. It's now a cherished keepsake that brings back fond memories of our visit. To wrap up our day, we took a leisurely walk along the shoreline. The tranquility of the loch, coupled with the stunning natural beauty surrounding us, was the perfect ending to a fantastic day. Overall, Dores Inn exceeded my expectations in every way. From the lovely atmosphere and great views to the delectable food and friendly service, it’s a place I highly recommend. If you're looking for an exceptional day out near Loch Ness, don’t miss the opportunity to visit this gem. I still think about that wonderful day, and I can’t wait to return!
