The friendliest service. Very reasonable prices for the quality of the food. The food itself was so tasty! Great portions, we both had burgers with chips and the burgers were delicious! Coffee was great too. Definitely returning to try one of their cakes !

What a place...Food was different level. We had the soup of the day and a chicken mayo sandwich. Had to wait for a table but was worth it.. The strawberry cheesecake was the best I have ever had... Brilliant..

Girvans has always been a firm favourite and the staff are typically very cheery and welcoming. My friend and I were advised that a free hot drink and tray bake was on offer alongside our lunch. We were very pleased with this. We had asked the waitress who was serving us if we could take our hot drink and tray bake away with us due to us facing time constraints. The waitress has no issues with us doing this. We then went up to the till to pay and had made our choices of tray bake and hot drink. We were then told that we were not allowed to take these items away and we had to sit in in order for them to be a part of the deal. I can’t understand the logic to this as it is freeing up a table space and less dishes are being used. I feel this needs reviewed as both myself and my friend felt mislead and disappointed. The older blonde waitress who served us at the till was very abrupt and rude in her communication of this. We had decided just to leave our tray bake/ hot drink and just pay for our meal. It would have been nice if a consideration had been met towards our circumstance. It would be beneficial all staff were made aware that this deal is only included when customers continue to hold a reservation over a table and continue to dirty dishes.

I’ve been to eat in this restaurant more than several times now & every time I’ve eaten there more often than not I or my partner have had complaints & refunds. We give it a chance every time because fortunately for Girvens there’s nowhere else in Inverness worth eating in either. I ordered chicken fajitas today and they were swimming in grease & gave me stomach cramps & in shear need of a toilet after leaving. My partner ordered tuna sandwich. Well it was returned due to stale and just the crusts of bread, the replace helping wasn’t much better. I’ll never set food in that place again…. Ever. Not recommended.

Welcome, staff, food, cleanliness, warmth on a cold January day just perfect. Can’t recommend highly enough. Good nutritious tasty traditional and also modern spin offs with exotic tastes afoot x

My other half and I had a meal after reading the reviews. We ordered the vegetarian lasagna which was absolutely delicious worth every penny. The prices for the food and drink are a lot higher than what you’d find in your local Wetherspoons, however the old saying of your get what you pay for is certainly true. If you are looking for delicious food made with high quality ingredients then I’d highly recommend this place.

Popped in for lunch. I am Coeliac and they really catered for me with a lovely BLT on gluten free bread and a GF cake to follow, my wife also enjoyed her choice of lunch

My friend and I visited Girvans for a girls lunch and were left very disappointed. Firstly, my friend ordered an iced coffee and I ordered a diet pepsi. The diet pepsi did not arrive and when the iced coffee arrived it was gone in around three sips. This was likely due to the fancy but not essential small glass. She requested another on the off chance it was a bad pour and I requested a diet pepsi as it was quite busy and things happen. My pepsi again did not arrive and the coffee was gone in three sips. I ordered the triple deck chicken club and my friend ordered the vegetable lasagne. The food arrived and, after a third attempt at asking, so did my pepsi. The vegetable lasagne didn't have any vegetables in it and my friend was left disappointed with only cheese and pasta. (She was initially impressed with the vegetarian options but the dish was not done well). And on top of this; my sandwich was incredibly salty to the point of inedible. All in all - it was not a good experience for us and we would likely not be back.

A friend and I went to Girvans today for lunch, we waited for a while but normally don’t mind as it is worth the wait. My friend and I ordered the exact same thing - a chicken, bacon and mozzarella toastie with chips. When it came out it was clear they had used chicken mayonnaise, which is not what we had asked for. My friend brought this to the attention of a waitress, she apologised and offered to have them changed. The waitress that then took our original order came over and asked us again what we had asked for, she told my friend that she had not asked for the correct thing as she didn’t specify ‘plain chicken’. My friend had told me it is what she gets every time and had never had this problem. I thought it was a very unnecessary comment especially as we also didn’t specify ‘chicken mayonnaise’! Afterwards while we waited for the correct order some of the waitresses seemed to be discussing the issue behind the bar and seemingly adding a cost or altering our bill somehow from what we could see/hear which felt rather uncomfortable! Finally our rectified orders came out, toastie was fantastic! However the chips were now STONE COLD. Don’t mind that they didn’t replace the chips but goodness sake they could have at least kept them warm! To add to this we paid our bill and there was an extra 50p charge on it, not explained to us and it wasn't specified for anything. £17 approx for a toastie, cold chips, a drink and not a great reception from ALL staff. Usually love Girvans but felt let down this time, hoping it was just a one off!

Food was average to be honest, the sausages were not burnt but couldn't put a fork in them. Then a young child fell out of a child seat provided by the cafe and none of the staff attended to the screaming child, the customers did but not 1 member of staff did. The child had hit his head of the table behind, luckily he seemed fine after a few minutes. But very disappointed in the staff TBH

We walked past and the place was packed. So we decided to have brunch. I ordered Cranberry Sausage Risotto and my partner ordered Salmon. We had a lovely meal and the staffs were very friendly and the atmosphere was lovely!

I continue to eat here, I have had many of the items on the menu, even more potentially obscure from duck pancakes to Greek salad- that arrived at my table and was a big one! . Burgers generally good, prawn pastas or pastas nice. So much I like about this cafe. Atmosphere, staff, just great

Been going here for many years, always good food. May have to queue, but it normally moves quite quickly. Current favourite is fish and chips. If you get there earlier, the porridge and apple is pretty good. There are a great selection of cakes for desert, if you have room.

Just a shame it’s no bigger and they do table reservations but let me tell yah the food is the best Inverness ♥️♥️

Went here for breakfast for the first time with my wife, and we both really enjoyed the experience. The service was very quick and friendly and despite the place being very busy, with the food and coffee being first rate. Nice interior and atmosphere as well.

Me and the hubby came here because we thought rory worked here who bullys our son connor, apart from that the meal was fan dabby dosey, bloody fantastic! I had the Ham & Mushroom Tagliatelle and it was super dooper, the hubby got a salad. because thats all hes limited to at the moment as hes going to burst, overall great experiance deffo recoomed luvs xx

Really disappointed with the quality of the breakfast. My son asked for poached eggs and got fried. Our scrambled eggs had been microwaved. My bacon was all watery. I thought the fact that it was busy it was going to be good. But it wasn't

Had lunch here and food was amazing. Potions were too big if anything meaning sadly I couldn’t have the cheesecake I was eyeing up. Service was great and reasonably priced.

Lovely place. Friendly efficient staff. My husban and I had the Scottish breakfast. The flavours were amazing everything was cooked to perfection. Our daughter had avocado toast with bacon and egg, our grandchild both had the French toast. They were all really happy with their choices and cleared their plates.

The fruit scones had hardly any fruit in it, and the texture was a cross between a buttery and a scone, not for me! Ordered a 1 shot latte but it was still really strong. We were seated next to the coffee prep area, staff were so noisy crashing cutlery and plates we couldn't hear ourselves speak 😢. Shame really as it wouldn't take much for this to be a nice café

Very cute (and busy!) location. Staff was friendly and efficient. Selections were good and turn around was very quick. The floor manager was a delight as they helped us relocate an unexpected arachnid visitor. Good place to start the day.

Excellent food and service. Nice atmosphere and very busy. Still the waiters seemed to have time for everyone. The portions were huge, so luckily one of our dishes was the kind you can take away (sufficient for an evening meal for the two of us).

The best breakfast venue we visited in Inverness

We were in for breakfast this week, £13:50 for a breakfast with coffee but it wasn't the best, the poached eggs weren't cooked to perfection, the mushrooms were slimey, the toast wasn't great and only came with 1 sausage which could of been better quality...

I have eaten at Girvans many many times over the years and never been disappointed until now. I visited with my daughter for lunch. My daughter ordered the tempura chicken, it was overcooked, dry and actually tough. The coating was a different recipe than before...

Difícil hacerlo peor. Hamburguesa del tamaño de la palma de mi mano, la cual venía sin carne (sin previo aviso en carta). Tras esperar 20 minutos por la carne, la cual estaba quemada. Parece que el único punto posible es el de zapatilla quemada. Relación calidad/precio lamentable.

Fantastic dining experience. Great quality food, reasonably priced, generous portions. The service is great and waiting times not too long. I definitely recommend this place for a lunch or a cake and a coffee.

Completely overated! I’d heard about this place from folk over the years and decided to finally go there to see what the fuss was about. Service was just okay, took a while to be seated and to get the bill, however the waitress was friendly...

Best Fish&Chip ever. I rarely post a review, but this one was well worth it. Chicken burger was also delicious. Awesome service. Even if there is a queue outside, wait! You won’t regret it.

In contrast to our other weekend breakfast experience in Inverness, our visit to Girvans comes highly recommended. Very attentive and pleasant staff and a delicious, freshly cooked breakfast, with our order taken at the table and all food and drinks nicely served to our table....

I have just had one of the best cooked breakfasts of my long life. Bacon just at the edge of burnt, poached well-sourced eggs precisely cooked (with no vinegar), the world's best black pudding from Stornaway, a tasty tomato, lots of nicely done mushrooms and a local potato cake. A good pot of tea too, all served promptly.

Delicious Scottish breakfast, had the vegetarian one and it was very tasty. If I’m in Inverness again would go back.

This is a pleasant 'cafe' for a light meal. Spacious interiors, smiling staff, a great spread of desserts, well presented and delicious dishes. Strongly recommended.

This has been a regular for years. The cake cabinet is worth the trip alone. The burgers are proper thick butchers burgers, the pasta has just a little bite and the friend who barely eats a thing managed two whole bowls of porridge one winters...
