Beautiful food, great service and lovely atmosphere 😊

Called in twice. First time had a very nice gluten free bacon and brie toasty. Second time had a gluten free bacon sandwich. My husband was very hungry but doesn't eat bread, he asked if he could have an xl bowl of soup, which they very kindly gave him. Staff were lovely and very helpful.

Lovely place for good wholesome food in the morning and for lunch.

The morning after the marathon before. The perfect place for our breakfast the day after the loch Ness marathon. The full Scottish breakfast is lush. An awesome selection of cakes was too tempting. The home of the breakfast pudding! Lovely service and great value.

Used to be a fab place have been going for years, ordered a speciality sandwich was delivered a plain cheese and ham toastie, asked the waitress was it right and she said no, took my plate to replace it. 30 mins later the correct food came and unfortunatley was not great, the waitress was very nice and offered a FOC hot drink while we waited for my food as my partner had eaten his. When we got to the checkout we were charged for everything including the FOC hot drink. Not a great experience and will choose other places to eat in future

Excellent meal cannot fault the food/service however, they need to do something about the dress code of staff. Having skirts that short that the elderly gentleman across from us had to divert his head in the other direction was appalling. Is there ANY need to have skirts that short they are literally just covering your bum cheeks it’s the only thing that lets the place down. So Girvens please address your dees code as it’s not appropriate for what is perfect every other way

Poor side salads, literally some rocket with slithers of red onion, a very small chicken ciabbata for £9.30, tempura king prawns were in a normal batter which was overcooked, £2.45 for a small glass of milk...... Disappointed!

The Scottish breakfast was outstanding – delicious flavours and perfectly prepared dishes! The service deserves 6 stars – exceptionally professional, friendly, and attentive to guests!

Attratti dai dolci in vetrina ci siamo fermati qui per prendere una zuppa del giorno con un buonissimo scone cheese e un brownies con gelato. Zuppa carote ed arancia molto particolare, il brownies un po’ diverso dai soliti ovvero con tanta frutta secca e a mio gusto forse un po’ troppo dolce e pastoso. Prezzi medio alti. Personale molto gentile. Su Tripadvisor ci sono scritti credo degli orari errati. Siamo ripassati verso le 19:30 ed era chiuso. Quindi accertatevi prima.

We had smocked Haddock, and two vegetarian full breakfast. Also we had mocha, chai latte and flat white. It was lovely and delicious. We'll come back soon😍😋😎

Good food. We had lunch and ended with a delicious cake. When we arrived we were able to walk in and get a table. There was a queue when we went outside. Friendly service.

We were over two days. First day for cake and coffee/tea, second day for lunch and cake Wonderful atmosphere. Mega busy, but both food and cake are worth waiting for.

We usually go to the museum cafe where they have amazing fresh food but it was closed. We saw Girvans and it looked lovely. It is clean with plenty of staff. The menu was good if a bit pricey but we thought we would spend the extra and treat ourselves. (Bear in mind, one of our favourite restaurant/cafes would have this price range and their food is incredible with good portion sizes, so this is what we were expecting.) We were shown to a window table straight away and allowed plenty of time (at least 5 minutes) to look through the menu. We ordered the special sandwiches, pulled pork ciabatta and a Reubens toastie along with a side of sweet potato fries. The sandwiches were edible but the fillings were very meagre, which was surprising given the £15 - £16 price tag. The sweet potato fries were nice and crispy but stuck together when you tried to take 1, the portion size would have fitted in my hand and were served in a stainless steel cup that reminded me of school dinner tableware ! All in all, it was a nice place to sit down and rest ourselves, the staff were lovely, the food was edible but given those prices I would definitely expect bigger portions ...or at the very least, a bit more filling in the sandwiches, and a few more chips...preferably not served in a stainless steel cup !

We visited on our way back from Loch Ness. The aesthetic of the place were not the best BUT service, atmosphere and food made everything to work out. We had their mushroom bruschetta and a chicken wrap, wrap was good and the bruschetta was AMAZING.

I’m used to terrible breakfasts at premier inns so to experience a first class one was a real treat! Service was excellent from Molly and I will eat here again for sure!🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

We went to Girvan's two days in a row, once for breakfast and then for lunch. Their staff go the extra mile to make your experience wonderful and I highly recommend visiting them. Right from the eggs benedict (salmon), to their pancakes and wraps. I liked the iced coffee as well. We were taken care of by Sophie and all the people were kind.

We had lunch here. My wife had seafood pasta and was thrilled with the portion size. I had a burger and was also satisfied. Gladly again. Don't be surprised, you pay at the cash register when you leave and not directly at the table. It helps to remember the table number ;)

We came for breakfast due to this place having great reviews, however service was poor - half of our drinks arrived followed by the rest 10 minutes later. Asked for the bill and it never arrived, ended up paying at the till. Scrambled eggs were microwaved and sitting in a large pool of milk which was very off putting.

Wit went here for breakfast every morning during our stay in Inverness. The staff is very nice and attentive and the food is also very tasty. The cakes in the front display are very, very good!

Service very nice. Unfortunately the food was poor. I had ordered pasta with tomatoes and basil, unfortunately the pasta was already overcooked and wasn't prepared very nicely. In terms of taste, it tasted more like a finished product and the basil was not there at all. The toast was okay, but a different one was ordered than what came to the table. In my opinion the price for this meal is way too high. We also had a very musty smell in our noses at our place.

Everytime I come to this place I am not disappointed. The food is great, the coffee is amazing and the staff are terrific 😀!

Haven't been in here for years, always far too busy when we've been passing. Used to have a very good reputation for it's food although I notice the Google reviews are mixed. Well there was no queue out through the door today, so we ordered Eggs Benedict with Bacon, Smoked Haddock and Eggs, and Tea. All came pretty quickly and well prepared, served well by a group of well managed and attentive servers.

Arrived here for a wee day trip to Inverness for the day was recommended for breakfast. So decided to head up. Ordered a roll and bacon with black pudding and my mum went for a veggie sausage and scrambled egg, initially we were greeted with ‘we can’t make scrambled eggs the kitchens too busy’ but that was soon reversed and the food was ideal. Quite hefty prices in this wee shop for what you get, with most breakfast items including rolls to be over £6 and a lot of basic breakfast items a tenner, but I think that’s the restaurant just using the tourism to raise its prices a wee bit. Lovely place though good variety of cakes friendly staff and clean toilet facilities.

My partners scottish breakfast was lovely however my French toast with "nutella" and strawberries was dissapointing. I didn't get what was advertised on the menu, what came to the table was French toast coated heavily with cinnamon sugar, with a bitter chocolate sauce and strawberries. It just wasn't what I expected and for me wasn't very enjoyable. I can't fault the service the staff were friendly and it was a pleasant place for a meal.

This cafe should be and could much better if it sorted a few things. I will add photo of what a good Scottish breakfast should look like that’s delicious and under £10 from a typical cafe in East Kilbride shopping centre. I was recommended this place by family as I was up visiting I heard it was good. I ordered the full breakfast it was £13 I was surprised to see no beans when It arrived so it wasn’t the full Scottish breakfast for me I found it expensive at £13 compared to cafes in my area that provide a delicious and full breakfast. usually under £10 and with a lot more variety on the plate. I found it hard to relax and to hear conversation mainly down to the person who works behind the bar drying cutlery and slamming it into a container after drying with an almighty crash creating an awful racket which went on for quite some time. it made it uncomfortable and on edge waiting for the next crash of cutlery to happen I don’t think they realise how much crashing and banging she’s creating. Perhaps drying cutlery should be done in the kitchen and not in the dining area. Also observed and can hear the noise it makes from fully inserted the steamer wand deep in the milk overheating the latte milk and creating a loud noise. The milk tasted burnt. More training required behind the bar. I noticed no phone signal so asked for Wi-Fi which they don’t have which is a shame as at this price point I feel Wi-Fi should be available to customers. I paid for a burger and one latte and a full Scottish minus the beans it came to £32 not cheap was surprised to see people queuing up for a table. Not up to normal standards experienced elsewhere but now you know what to do to improve it.

We cannot recommend this place enough, the food if so tasty freshly made. The staff are lovely and friendly. And the place is spotless. I unfortunately left my umbrella behind which has sentimental value, I phoned and the manager Francis very kindly agreed to post it to me, as at the time we visited I was on holiday in Findhorn. Can’t thank her enough. We will be returning. X

Poor all round. If you want to eat tiny portions of microwaved food served by a very snippy server, this is for you. Getting someone’s attention to ask about our meal was difficult, I had to walk around the corner and stand in the middle of the floor to get attention, then the waitress came round chewing a mouthful of food. We sent back a tiny baked potato, no bigger than a clementine with a very small, shallow bowl of tuna. The snippy waitress came storming back round with the same plate in hand, irritated and explained this was a portion size. Her attitude took us all aback. We just refused that plate and anything further as we wished to leave. When paying the bill we were told that we weren’t being charged for the potato! As if that would be a favour… Food and service has nosedived. We will not return and be encouraging friends and family to go elsewhere.

What a place...Food was different level. We had the soup of the day and a chicken mayo sandwich. Had to wait for a table but was worth it.. The strawberry cheesecake was the best I have ever had... Brilliant..

Girvans has always been a firm favourite and the staff are typically very cheery and welcoming. My friend and I were advised that a free hot drink and tray bake was on offer alongside our lunch. We were very pleased with this. We had asked the waitress who was serving us if we could take our hot drink and tray bake away with us due to us facing time constraints. The waitress has no issues with us doing this. We then went up to the till to pay and had made our choices of tray bake and hot drink. We were then told that we were not allowed to take these items away and we had to sit in in order for them to be a part of the deal. I can’t understand the logic to this as it is freeing up a table space and less dishes are being used. I feel this needs reviewed as both myself and my friend felt mislead and disappointed. The older blonde waitress who served us at the till was very abrupt and rude in her communication of this. We had decided just to leave our tray bake/ hot drink and just pay for our meal. It would have been nice if a consideration had been met towards our circumstance. It would be beneficial all staff were made aware that this deal is only included when customers continue to hold a reservation over a table and continue to dirty dishes.

I’ve been to eat in this restaurant more than several times now & every time I’ve eaten there more often than not I or my partner have had complaints & refunds. We give it a chance every time because fortunately for Girvens there’s nowhere else in Inverness worth eating in either. I ordered chicken fajitas today and they were swimming in grease & gave me stomach cramps & in shear need of a toilet after leaving. My partner ordered tuna sandwich. Well it was returned due to stale and just the crusts of bread, the replace helping wasn’t much better. I’ll never set food in that place again…. Ever. Not recommended.

My other half and I had a meal after reading the reviews. We ordered the vegetarian lasagna which was absolutely delicious worth every penny. The prices for the food and drink are a lot higher than what you’d find in your local Wetherspoons, however the old saying of your get what you pay for is certainly true. If you are looking for delicious food made with high quality ingredients then I’d highly recommend this place.

Popped in for lunch. I am Coeliac and they really catered for me with a lovely BLT on gluten free bread and a GF cake to follow, my wife also enjoyed her choice of lunch

My friend and I visited Girvans for a girls lunch and were left very disappointed. Firstly, my friend ordered an iced coffee and I ordered a diet pepsi. The diet pepsi did not arrive and when the iced coffee arrived it was gone in around three sips. This was likely due to the fancy but not essential small glass. She requested another on the off chance it was a bad pour and I requested a diet pepsi as it was quite busy and things happen. My pepsi again did not arrive and the coffee was gone in three sips. I ordered the triple deck chicken club and my friend ordered the vegetable lasagne. The food arrived and, after a third attempt at asking, so did my pepsi. The vegetable lasagne didn't have any vegetables in it and my friend was left disappointed with only cheese and pasta. (She was initially impressed with the vegetarian options but the dish was not done well). And on top of this; my sandwich was incredibly salty to the point of inedible. All in all - it was not a good experience for us and we would likely not be back.

A friend and I went to Girvans today for lunch, we waited for a while but normally don’t mind as it is worth the wait. My friend and I ordered the exact same thing - a chicken, bacon and mozzarella toastie with chips. When it came out it was clear they had used chicken mayonnaise, which is not what we had asked for. My friend brought this to the attention of a waitress, she apologised and offered to have them changed. The waitress that then took our original order came over and asked us again what we had asked for, she told my friend that she had not asked for the correct thing as she didn’t specify ‘plain chicken’. My friend had told me it is what she gets every time and had never had this problem. I thought it was a very unnecessary comment especially as we also didn’t specify ‘chicken mayonnaise’! Afterwards while we waited for the correct order some of the waitresses seemed to be discussing the issue behind the bar and seemingly adding a cost or altering our bill somehow from what we could see/hear which felt rather uncomfortable! Finally our rectified orders came out, toastie was fantastic! However the chips were now STONE COLD. Don’t mind that they didn’t replace the chips but goodness sake they could have at least kept them warm! To add to this we paid our bill and there was an extra 50p charge on it, not explained to us and it wasn't specified for anything. £17 approx for a toastie, cold chips, a drink and not a great reception from ALL staff. Usually love Girvans but felt let down this time, hoping it was just a one off!

Food was average to be honest, the sausages were not burnt but couldn't put a fork in them. Then a young child fell out of a child seat provided by the cafe and none of the staff attended to the screaming child, the customers did but not 1 member of staff did. The child had hit his head of the table behind, luckily he seemed fine after a few minutes. But very disappointed in the staff TBH

We walked past and the place was packed. So we decided to have brunch. I ordered Cranberry Sausage Risotto and my partner ordered Salmon. We had a lovely meal and the staffs were very friendly and the atmosphere was lovely!

I continue to eat here, I have had many of the items on the menu, even more potentially obscure from duck pancakes to Greek salad- that arrived at my table and was a big one! . Burgers generally good, prawn pastas or pastas nice. So much I like about this cafe. Atmosphere, staff, just great

Been going here for many years, always good food. May have to queue, but it normally moves quite quickly. Current favourite is fish and chips. If you get there earlier, the porridge and apple is pretty good. There are a great selection of cakes for desert, if you have room.

Just a shame it’s no bigger and they do table reservations but let me tell yah the food is the best Inverness ♥️♥️

Went here for breakfast for the first time with my wife, and we both really enjoyed the experience. The service was very quick and friendly and despite the place being very busy, with the food and coffee being first rate. Nice interior and atmosphere as well.

Me and the hubby came here because we thought rory worked here who bullys our son connor, apart from that the meal was fan dabby dosey, bloody fantastic! I had the Ham & Mushroom Tagliatelle and it was super dooper, the hubby got a salad. because thats all hes limited to at the moment as hes going to burst, overall great experiance deffo recoomed luvs xx

Really disappointed with the quality of the breakfast. My son asked for poached eggs and got fried. Our scrambled eggs had been microwaved. My bacon was all watery. I thought the fact that it was busy it was going to be good. But it wasn't

Had lunch here and food was amazing. Potions were too big if anything meaning sadly I couldn’t have the cheesecake I was eyeing up. Service was great and reasonably priced.

Lovely place. Friendly efficient staff. My husban and I had the Scottish breakfast. The flavours were amazing everything was cooked to perfection. Our daughter had avocado toast with bacon and egg, our grandchild both had the French toast. They were all really happy with their choices and cleared their plates.

The fruit scones had hardly any fruit in it, and the texture was a cross between a buttery and a scone, not for me! Ordered a 1 shot latte but it was still really strong. We were seated next to the coffee prep area, staff were so noisy crashing cutlery and plates we couldn't hear ourselves speak 😢. Shame really as it wouldn't take much for this to be a nice café

Very cute (and busy!) location. Staff was friendly and efficient. Selections were good and turn around was very quick. The floor manager was a delight as they helped us relocate an unexpected arachnid visitor. Good place to start the day.

I was visiting with my mom and the restaurant was recommended to us for lunch. We were seated right away and were grateful for that, but we were put in a very back corner at a shabby old table. Not sure if they’re all like...

The usual very high standards. Just first class.

Excellent food and service. Nice atmosphere and very busy. Still the waiters seemed to have time for everyone. The portions were huge, so luckily one of our dishes was the kind you can take away (sufficient for an evening meal for the two of us).

We were in for breakfast this week, £13:50 for a breakfast with coffee but it wasn't the best, the poached eggs weren't cooked to perfection, the mushrooms were slimey, the toast wasn't great and only came with 1 sausage which could of been better quality...

I have eaten at Girvans many many times over the years and never been disappointed until now. I visited with my daughter for lunch. My daughter ordered the tempura chicken, it was overcooked, dry and actually tough. The coating was a different recipe than before...

Difícil hacerlo peor. Hamburguesa del tamaño de la palma de mi mano, la cual venía sin carne (sin previo aviso en carta). Tras esperar 20 minutos por la carne, la cual estaba quemada. Parece que el único punto posible es el de zapatilla quemada. Relación calidad/precio lamentable.

We visited Girvans Cafe while staying in Inverness - an easy walk from the carpark. A family friendly cafe with a wide variety of food options from tea or coffee & light bites to a full lunch menu. The food both looked and tasted fabulous...

We did enjoy our lunch. However, beef burger not as juicy as hoped and chips a bit soggy. The on-site made cakes were excellent.

Completely overated! I’d heard about this place from folk over the years and decided to finally go there to see what the fuss was about. Service was just okay, took a while to be seated and to get the bill, however the waitress was friendly...

Very cosy place, very friendly and correct service. Good coffee and definitely try the cheesecake.

Surprisingly spacious with staff that make you feel right at home. Lots of delicious breakfast options with good coffee.

Best Fish&Chip ever. I rarely post a review, but this one was well worth it. Chicken burger was also delicious. Awesome service. Even if there is a queue outside, wait! You won’t regret it.

Portions are quite big. I had Fish & Chips, it was nicely done, overall delicious, but I found it a bit unsalted.

Good drinks and cakes, service was ok, nothing to complain coz they did their job. I would go there for breakfast or brunch but not for lunch because I find Stake is too dry and not reasonable price.
