Popped in on a trip from Inverness. Never been before but it was lovely. We went in to browse the gifts, then left to go for a wander. Hubby had spotted the large cake on the way out, so we stopped on our way back and took out said cake and tiffin and ate them whilst admiring the view and enjoying the weather outside. Beautifully made food and the place was busy inside and outside. The gifts are really lovely too. Will come back for lunch next time. ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

We popped in for coffee and cake. It’s small - three tables in a shop but has a lovely feel to it. The lemon cake was delish but the coffee a little weak for our taste.

A delightful tiny cafe and souvenir shop which are cute and not at all tacky (just a little expensive by Italian standards). We stopped for a snack and enjoyed delicious cakes: orange and chocolate and coffee and pecan. Calling it a "tea room" seems a little exaggerated to me because there are 3 small tables and 6 chairs in total in 4 square metres.

We almost didn't take anything because inside it's very small (but cozy) with most of the space being dedicated to crafts. But the weather was summer and the pastries were appetizing. Great good has taken us!!! Even from the side of the road the view of the port is very pleasant. The soup with the fresh bread was a delight and the salmon salad was a treat. Desserts the same. A very very good address with quality products. Thank you for this good time

Yet another great start to our holiday recently, with our fourth visit this year to this wonderful Award winning tearoom and gift shop. We have been visiting Tea by the Sea since they opened 6 years ago and they are always extremely welcoming and polite, it is always one of our favourite places to stop on route up to the far north west corner of Sutherland We have always experienced a great quality in all this time and especially the freshly baked cakes which are absolutely delicious, the Bakewell tart is so good we always take extra for our next leg of our stay in central Scotland The gift shop has very classy and offers unique gifts for everyone’s taste and price range Keep up the good work Joanne, Jo and all the team because you are appreciated by so so many tourists and locals alike and the Awards you have achieved prove that and speak for themselves Can’t wait to see you all in the Spring of next year Mandy and Dave

We stopped here while on our road after having read the reviews and we couldn’t have been more disappointed. Firstly this is a gift shop, not a cafe, it has a few tables outside but as it was raining we chose to sit at one of the two tables Inside. We were not even greeted by the lady behind the till so we just sat down, after a few minutes of silence we helped ourselves to the menu which was very limited. I opted for a pie as there was not many hot options. We eventually ordered but there was very little conversation and a smile would have been nice. Food was served fairly quickly and I knew it was ready when I heard the dinner gong go (the microwave). We left quite quickly as we clearly felt like we were a nuisance. As we were away to pay somebody came in looking for takeaway food and was offered a bacon sandwich. I have since read on here that they were tasty, I wish I had tried it however it was not on the menu, maybe I had helped myself to the wrong one. Sadly we will not be back

Coffee was from a machine and wasn’t very good. Main issue was I ordered the runny scotch egg. It was not runny at all and was close to hard boiled. I raised this with staff who said the sign is wrong and they need to change it. No apologies, no alternative offered. If they know their sign is wrong why not mention it when I asked about the scotch egg initially?! Think I was either lied to/fobbed off and the staff overcooked the scotch egg accidentally, or if not then it’s just a pure scam to make something sound much better than it actually is. Icing on the cake was no apology or acknowledgement they’d messed up. Was £4.95 for the warm runny scotch egg (which wasn’t runny at all). Was akin to a supermarket scotch egg warmed in the microwave. 100% would not recommend.

Tea by the sea is more like moan by the water. The staff could not have been worse if they tried, The cafe is insufficient and is no good as the range is awful. If you want a hot pie the petrol station would be better. No friendly greeting, and apparently if its Sunday that's the excuse for being below par. Is it a cafe is it a gift shop it doesn't know and the staff look like they are ready to tell you to go away. There is one clear word that covers our visit shocking, and Ullapool is no better dark, damp, closed shops if you can avoid it do so.

Sadly COTS has went downhill rapidly over the past couple of years, the food is great and the products they sell are great but the staff service is very poor and just keeps getting worse and its now getting talked about a lot in the local area as the place to stay away from. The past three times ive been in Ive ended up walking out because I just didnt get served and in my latest visit I sat for 35 minutes in a half empty shop waiting for someone to take my order but no one was interested. Sorry Tara but you are taking people for mugs and if you cant be bothered then sell the place to someone who does care for the customers. We wont be back.
