We were there on a Monday so the restaurant was closed but we thoroughly enjoyed walking around the beautiful gardens which are open even when restaurant is closed. Maybe you’ll even get greeted by the friendly dog Luna too! She was out helping her mom in the garden. Worth a stop to see the gardens & leave a donation for these clearly passionate gardeners.

Very nice food and freshly prepared but again very expensive. The soup was great but the bread portion was minuscule and needs to be a decent bit of bread and no offering of brown or white choice. The Rollmop salad was superb all be it expensive but again freshly prepared but not allot of salad basically a few leafs of lettuce but it was dressed with dressing. Great chips keep that up to standard. Good service but typically expensive for the west coast of Scotland.

Beautiful location and seemingly the only food for miles when the pub is shut. Strangely no sandwiches when we stopped for lunch but an array of 'small plates'. My son had the crab which was indeed quite small but my soup was absolutely delicious. Quick and friendly service. The restaurant is literally in a walled garden right by the loch and only a moment from the Applecross Heritage Centre.

Beautiful surroundings. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. We enjoyed it so much we ate here twice on the same day. The evening ambiance was lovely. Good size portions and well priced. Food was delicious especially the tapas dishes. The venison ragu and the haggis dishes were our favourites. All produce was locally sourced, fresh vegetables and salads grown in the walled garden itself.

Unaccommodating, unfriendly, unhelpful staff….very disappointing experience…we arrived only looking for a coffee and were greeted with ‘have you booked? if not, oh well sorry’ there were a ton of available tables but they advised they were expecting a ‘bus load?!’ … so they could not serve us coffee unless we wanted to stand at the counter…10 people appeared from a mini bus so coukd have easily been more accommodating if they wanted to…poor customer experience but hey ho went to the Applecross Inn instead…they totally understand excellent, friendly customer service!!

The restaurant was very accommodating when I had to change my reservation twice due to unforeseen circumstances. We had lunch one Sunday, I hadn’t realised they weren’t doing Sunday roast anymore but was presently surprised by their tapas (small plates) menu. My partner and I shared a few and the flavours were delicious. The service was polite and quick. The gardens obviously were an added bonus too to enjoy a little walk after lunch

Such a great find! Beautiful gardens and lots of great walks to explore the estate. The cafe/restaurant was such a delight - amazing food. We would recommend the salmon gravlax, lamb ragu, roasted aubergine, seafood croquettes - all delicious and a really lovely setting. Definitely worth seeking this out on a visit to Applecross.

A treat. We had been a while back, maybe 5 years, and remembered sitting outside, in the sun enjoying something. This was cold, damp, and miserable. The trip over the top was misty, in cloud etc.. meeting too many tourists in Motorhomes which realistically were too big. So we wanted cheering up, and found it here. Like the lovely lady who found us seats despite not having booked. (Worth doing). For me the menu was a bit of a problem, in that I was spoilt for choice. We opted for the Nettle soup. It came with a slice of white bread. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. Recommended. A minor point was I requested a black Americano, and it half filled the cup it came in. But the young lass brought a jug of hot water to top it up. So thank you. For me a plus was it was in British crockery (Churchill). Thus confirming rating it as 5* Footnote, it is on the way out of Applecross, so the tendency it to try those in Applecross first, on the way. Don't bother, go straight here.

We had been told to try the Walled Garden after a disappointing start to our evening elsewhere. My friend had messaged them on Facebook to see if they had availability and Jon the owner had responded quickly to say that there was and he had booked us a table. We arrived at just after 6pm and we were welcomed warmly. We weren't quite ready for food, but they were happy to serve us drinks until we ordered just before the cut off time. The food was all delicious and around the table there was a mixture of tapas items which we shared and my husband ordered a burger from the specials board. It was all lovely and felt very fresh and the crispy gnocchi was a star dish. Reluctant to get back to our campsite nearby due to the weather conditions, they kindly let us stay at our table whilst they were clearing up and we were glad to meet Jill, Gilbert and Gabriel working that evening. We had a fabulous time and could not have asked for a better last night on our holiday. Its just a shame that we didn't really get to see the garden in the daylight because from the glimpses we saw, it looked beautiful, but if we are in the area again we will come back and will recommend to family and friends also.

This restaurant was perfect! We chanced upon it, hadn’t booked, had had a long winding drive across Bealach Na Ba and were keen for a bite and a coffee. The staff could not have been friendlier. The menu was diverse and great quality. The garden provided a beautiful outlook and was lovely for a wander after lunch. Worth booking ahead but we were treated very hospitably, as were others whom we observed to arrive unannounced.

We were revisiting a place we had loved 10 years ago, and it did not disappoint. The garden has grown in that time, and the restaurant is still cosy, good quality food, and a wide range of menu for a big or small appetite. The walled garden doesnt have updated information, so you are taking a big chance going all that way on the offchance, so its better to call and book, to avoid disappointment.

Visited the walled garden about 7 years ago and was keen to return as it was amazing! I have to say after reading some of the reviews and thinking no this can't be right. Unfortunately I have to agree with some of them. I am not sure why the menu that is pushed is the tapas, in the highlands of Scotland. I could understand if it was Scottish dishes, but it was a total mishmash, it didn't make sense. The tapas was okay, some of the courses cold, some fine, nothing amazing. Toilets dirty. Staff friendly enough and a beautiful setting. £72 for the food and 1 glass of wine, far to expensive, £8.50 for patas bravas (not very well cooked boiled potatoes). I hope the restaurant listens to the reviews to improve, I've read some aggressive responses. It should be the no.1 place and it could be again. But get back to Scottish dishes, reduce your very expensive prices and make sure the meals you cook are warm and delicious. I did message the walled garden saying I was disappointed the table I had booked was not booked when we arrived, luckily it was quiet enough. I received a very rude, sarcastic response back. Poor show from the person responding, "these things happen, we can't be perfect all the time" hence my urge to write a review more so. So looking forward to this but it wasn't great.

The place is gentle and worth a walk around the garden before you enter. We had dinner after arriving over the top into Applecross. The sat at said it was 147kms, the reality was it was 690 metres. We’ll worth a visit for Scotlands answer to Tappas. The creamed haggis was to die for. Mackerel was fresh. A delight to sample lots of Scottish dishes. They say 3-4 dishes per person, I’d recommend 3 unless you’re really hungry. Puds we’re a bit disappointing the deer we saw on the way back to our B&B finished off the lovely evening.

There are really only two restaurants in Applecross itself. This one, and the inn. I was really looking forward to a lot of really wholesome fish dishes , but was disappointed to find only a linguine of fish and chips on the mains menu. So we had to buy tapas. They recommended 3 to four each which was correct. They were very tasty, fresh however, even the friendly staff, wonderful garden does not justify £8.50 per tapas, nor does a pudding such as cheesecake or two scoops of ice cream with Tia Maria and espresso. The local beer was £6.50 a head, lovely on a hot day but £1.50 more than the pub. A short meal for two with four beers was £102 which was way too much. Town for fresh seafood would have been 35% less. So thanks guys, you were welcoming, including a funny email reply, but the prices cannot be justified.

Should get an extra star for the freshness of the ingredients. We had the small plates - spoiler - they are not that small. All the dishes were lovely with the deep fried gnocchi especially good. Best bit for me was a simple Caprese salad with home grown tomatoes and basil. Applecross tomatoes! Beautiful. Beer was also local and lovely. The care and attention required to produce such a gorgeous meal and service in far flung Applecross is quite something. The team should be really proud of this wee gem of a place. We’ll definitely be going back.

We also had a cake for pudding from their specials, toffee and banana cake. It was perfect and so moist. Price wise, I couldn’t believe the total when it came. Eight of us (two fours) had coffee and light snacks here in lovely surroundings, we sat inside the cafe but plenty seating outside in the garden, pleasant friendly staff a good place to visit in Applecross.

We had a lovely family breakfast here. The food was good and the staff were lovely, but the best bit was the location itself.

We had two dinners and breakfast. Every meal was exceptional and delicious with fresh seafood, great steaks and home grown vegetables. Beautiful location and excellent friendly service. Drinks also nice with local beers. A must visit and easily the best place to eat on. The Applecross peninsula. Book ahead - understandably very popular with the NC500 tourists and other discerning visitors.

We visited this restaurant as part of our NC500 trip. The beautiful garden is so welcoming and just made me happy, especially after the breath-taking bealach na ba drive. We ordered hot & cold salmon with salad as a starter, it was presented well and tasted good until I realised there was a live slug in our plate . I was so shocked and just felt sick, crying too as I can't believe it has to happen to me. It ruined the whole experience. We were not charged for our order, but I didn't touch my food; I even couldn't look at it as all I can imagine is that slug. I hope this will be a learning experience for them to wash their greens well... And for customers to inspect their food first? No salad for me for a long time, for sure..

My husband and I are doing the N500 & we were both getting very hungry when we spotted the sign. We parked our camper-van in the FREE car park, saw a gate & it looked like it was closed, I opened it & was delighted that we stumbled across this place. The gardens are beautifully kept & luckily it was a beautiful day so we roamed around taking lots of pics. We were greeted nicely & we sat at a lovely table, it was quite busy. My husband and I had a superb & tasty lunch followed by a coffee and Icecream- not expensive then we meandered towards a little gift shop which was delightful. All staff were very pleasant.

Applecross is just a stunning place and I'd strongly recommend eating at the Applecross Walled Garden. We had a lovely evening meal and popped back for breakfast the following morning. Super-helpful staff and the setting is delightful.

Arrived without booking on a busy day as apparently the Applecross Inn is closed on a Tuesday. Car park overflowing and a damp drizzly day but food and fabulous staff made up for that. Tables sanitized and chairs and the customers looked after. Scallops fabulous as they were on our last visit 2 years ago. Smoked haddock chowder with homemade bread wonderful and managed to squeeze in sticky toffee pudding too. Bliss

We know the Tongue area very well, and like to eat locally, so it was obvious we would decide to eat at the Craggan, and i'm happy we did! The restaurant area is welcoming and clean, staff friendly, and the car park was easy even with a big van. The only problem was choosing from the menu! So many tasty things - i wish we had more time to visit again.. All three of us enjoyed our food, and we shared everything so i know it was all delicious. Thank you for making a rather wet evening so special..

I recently had the pleasure of spending a delightful day at Dores Inn, and I still find myself reminiscing about the experience six months later. Nestled along the shores of the iconic Loch Ness, this charming inn offers a perfect blend of stunning views, a warm atmosphere, and exceptional service. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a lovely ambiance that sets the tone for a relaxing visit. The inn has ample seating, both indoors and outdoors, making it easy to find a cozy spot to enjoy the picturesque scenery. We opted for an outside table, and it turned out to be the best decision of the day. The views of the loch were absolutely breathtaking, providing a serene backdrop for our meal. Speaking of the meal, I must rave about the food—simply sublime! I usually find coleslaw unappealing, but Dores Inn's homemade version was a game changer. It was fresh, flavorful, and complemented our dishes beautifully. Every bite was a testament to the culinary care that goes into their offerings. After our satisfying meal, we joined a Rib-Boat journey on the loch, which was an exhilarating way to experience the surroundings. The thrill of speeding across the water, combined with the breathtaking views of the loch and its mythical charm, made for an unforgettable adventure. As a memento of our day, I couldn't resist purchasing one of their handmade crochet teddies of Nessie. It's now a cherished keepsake that brings back fond memories of our visit. To wrap up our day, we took a leisurely walk along the shoreline. The tranquility of the loch, coupled with the stunning natural beauty surrounding us, was the perfect ending to a fantastic day. Overall, Dores Inn exceeded my expectations in every way. From the lovely atmosphere and great views to the delectable food and friendly service, it’s a place I highly recommend. If you're looking for an exceptional day out near Loch Ness, don’t miss the opportunity to visit this gem. I still think about that wonderful day, and I can’t wait to return!

This was a lovely experience, the food was not ' swimming in grease' as i saw from another review, but it was great to see that the more recent reviews have been validated. We went here for my birthday at the end of october and honestly everything was really lovely . the service was great they were so friendly from the getgo, the charcuterie board we had for starter was very filling and diverse just wish they would have told us what the cheeses were ( i think the brie was from tain though it was familair) but thats a minor niggle that we had no info. the main courses were fab the skin on chips were AMAZING , and its a dog friendly place which we loved , we dont have dogs but we did get to pet some which made our day !
