The Barn Cafe in Highland

Pris un petit déjeuner bien copieux (avec un peu de Haggis dans la formule) qui nous a bien calé malgré la pluie à pieds ensuite, bon accueil

Given the reviews expectations were high, started off well with the greeting from the waitress and shown to our table, wine, starters and mains were ordered. Nice Malbec to table served with a dirty glass, waitress quickly apologised and changed the glass. How can a restaurant with limited menu run out of steak at 18:15?. Burger ordered as a poor replacement, burger if it was not for the location I would say wasa supermarket special, over minced and bland. Main courses finished and then ignored for twenty minutes no table cleared no offer if desert's. Evening spoilt so went to pay, Again ignored for around 5 minutes and then when asked if everything ok no apologies made from "Johnny" just wanted to take the money. Credit where credit due to the young waitress who was pleasant and accommodating, service let down by her being over worked with "Johnny" not appearing to be doing much other than the bar. Very Disappointed and won't be back

We ate at the Barn Cafe on a Friday evening in Sept, group of 12 of us so it was a lot of work for them, but everything was super. Service was prompt and friendly, food was hearty and fresh with a couple of Highland twists (irnbru king prawns, haggis pakora), and all reasonably priced. Also really nice selection of beers. Thank you!!

A lovely spot for any meal of the day. Very good food, super friendly service and a place with a view. Because they were fully booked for dinner we went for their take out for and happy with it.

Stayed at this campsite. We had take away pizza for dinner. The pizza was home made and delicious. We had a full breakfast in the morning which again was delicious. The staff were all so friendly. Such a great facility on the camping site.

Wow, I really can't say any more than that, just go as it doesn't disappoint on every aspect, staff, price and quality of the food.!! Try the local IPA on tap too, beautiful pint.

Here we are, back at the Barn after a year away and it is still as welcoming as ever. Staff are really friendly and the cafe is light and airy, overlooking the motorhome and camping site. This is a good place for a casual lunch - my filled roll with vegetarian sausages and mushroom was delicious. The soup is good too and they serve a range of paninis and a few main dishes, alongside great cakes. We look forward to our next visit.

We booked for dinner whilst there for a coffee. Unfortunately our Westerbus from Inverness was held up after an incident in Garve but the staff were happy to adjust our arrival time. The food here is pub style grub, but cooked and presented well. We had fish and chips, lamb and scampi. The portions were very large. The fish and chips were delicious; the lamb served as ordered and the scampi generous. The starter haggis pakoras are HUGE! Order to share….! Prices are very reasonable and the staff are friendly.

We ate at the Barn Cafe after arriving in Gairloch. Service was good and there seemed to be a great range of home bakes. We had a fish and chips and a burger. The fish was pretty greasy but ok. Partner said the burger was average. Nothing too exciting. We didn’t stay for pudding due to a German lady across from us coughing, blowing her nose and clearing her throat excessively. No fault of the cafe obviously but good lord some folk really have no self awareness or consideration of those around them. The puddings looked delicious too.

Fantastic cafe, we enjoyed the Friday night curry, and the cakes are sublime (I recommend the Snickers tray bake) The staff are also great, really helpful and friendly. We were staying on the campsite so brilliant having such a good cafe so close

Situated a few miles out of Gairloch on a large campsite with pods, mobile homes, caravans, etc. Huge lovely beach adjacent. Full bar, good selection of dishes to eat in or take away all reasonably priced.

We totally recommend this place to eat. Don't be put off with it saying its a cafe its much much more than that. I can recommend the pizzas and garlic bread The staff work so hard . We'll done all it was perfect in every way.

Didn’t manage to book a table for dinner despite trying at 1pm on arrival day. We were told that too many dogs were booked already and they couldn’t accommodate us with a dog. Only option was to leave our dog behind or eat on table outside where only take away menu is available. We decided against that. We had some takeaway lunch which was tasty. Next day waited 30 minutes for a take away espresso and tea around 10 am!!! Some people didn’t pick up their take away, guess got tired of waiting and left. Orders were shout to outside, perhaps customers didn’t hear it. Generally, place looks great but customer service is poor, perhaps short staffed before season?

All vegan and vegetarian foods are cooked in the same fryer as pork beef chicken fish so not good if you have an allergy and should not be advised as vegan if cooked in this manner

Great cafe for lunch. We arrived as a large group. The staff did work hard to help us all get settled with drinks and food. Plenty of parking. Dog welcome. Free WiFi. Homemade cakes and traybakes are delicious.

Visited twice for lunch, very much recommend. Good coffee, food & service with some Gluten Free options such as soup/toastie. Fairly quiet on both visits, were able to sit in window for view.

Went for breakfast nothing amazing about it. Expected something really nice after reading the reviews but we stuck to cooking our own breakfasts. After this. If you like extremely strong coffee this is the place for you.

Great food, would recommend the salmon and seabass. Staff was vert friendly and interested in the well-being of its guests. The plates were served quite fast as well. All-in-all, a good experience at a wonderful surrounding/area

I've been going to camping at Sands Caravan and Camping for several years now. Always go to the cafe in the evening for a drink, always make sure to go for dinner a couple of times while there and usually manage a couple of breakfast trips too. Everyone is lovely, service is friendly, food is great.

For a little cafe on the edge of a camp site, the food served here is out of this world! Pan fried hake was cooked to perfection, and the coconut and raspberry panna cotta was absolutely delicious. The staff were all very friendly and polite. Absolutely brilliant end to our week in the Gairloch area.

We had dinner here on the last night of our holiday. We had already had breakfast which was great and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The food is restaurant class, so don't think this is a typical caff! There were a couple of things off the menu but the alternative options and the specials were delicious. Price is affordable and the cafe was very busy. Lovely food, great people all making for a special atmosphere.

Have had two delicious lunches here over the past week and we were very pleased to be back after a year away. The light, airy restaurant overlooks the camp site and serves a wide range of breakfasts until mid-morning, then lunches and dinners. We had delicious hot vegetarian rolls for lunch (with vegan sausage, mushroom and tomato) and they were really good. Service is very friendly and we look forward to returning.

Staying for the night at the campsite on our NC500 adventure, after checking out the TA reviews, it was a no-brainer to eat here and boy, were we glad we did! There were 3 of us; myself, my husband and our 12-year old granddaughter. What can I say, the food was outstanding and freshly prepared and the service was attentive and came with a smile. I had the pan-roasted salmon, which comprised of two large salmon fillets, perfectly cooked with a lovely crisp skin, beautifully presented on a bed of dauphinoise potatoes with tenderstem broccoli and mange tout cooked slightly al dente, the best restaurant meal I have had in a very long time. My husband went for the steak burger (but later wished he had opted for the pork belly, which looked lovely), and although it wasn't on the menu, they were happy to serve a pizza for my granddaughter. We finished the meal with a Belgian waffle with caramel sauce and a white chocolate and raspberry pannacotta, both of which were also delicious. All three meals with 5 drinks between us came to a very reasonable £78, which was extremely good value for the quality of the food. The daily menu varies, so plenty to choose from. We would highly recommend this establishment, which also serves breakfast and lunch. Booking is adviseable, as they were very busy.
