The best restaurants serving British food in Highlands and Islands

Oh my god, everything is so delicious! The Vegetarian Burger is the most delicious on the planet! The Caesar salad is divine! The Fish Chips are the best!!!! We didn't have time to take beautiful photos, Hungry after golf, we pounced on the food! Thanks for the amazing lunch!!!!

Worst restaurant in Elgin. Words cannot explain the hatred we felt leaving after a work lunch. From the staff to the food everything was not enjoyable. Should definitely take tips from others on how to run a restaurant. Can only imagine what the hotel itself is like.

Visited in September 2024 whilst on holiday, we couldn’t take dogs inside (fair enough) but we then asked if we could eat outside and was told no, asked if we could just get a drink outside and was also told no. What’s the point in putting tables outside? Terrible hospitality - I wouldn’t bother giving them your money, let alone my own.

A lovely place to stop after a walk around the town - great coffee and cakes and dog friendly.

First trip to the Skye. Beautiful views. There’s only four tables with the window view, so ask for it when you book. We had the specials for the week - scallops and T-bone steak. Both were wonderful. Service was great. Overall a wonderful dining experience. Thanks to Chris and team including Jack who drove us back to our hotel.

I was very disappointed to find that there is no longer a specific, set price, Sunday Menu. Perhaps that is the reason that the restaurant was so quiet. Definitely my worst & yet most expensive Sunday at the ‘Caber’ ☹️

Beautiful guest house with everything you need!! It’s so quiet and peaceful, there are lovely walks round about and the hostess is just lovely! Would stay here again!!

Stayed here for two nights and it was wonderful. From the moment we arrived (and even before that via email) Sheila was on hand to give us a warm welcome and make sure we had the best time. After Sheila showed us to our lovely rooms and we unpacked, we were in the lounge for some cake and cocktail. This place makes the best Old Fashioned I have ever had and Sheila was great craic while I enjoyed them. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and did the five course tasting menu. It was fantastic and definitely showcased the best that Skye has to offer in terms of quality food. The second night we ate at the Kitchen Table (see photos) and did the wine flight too. The food and the staff were awesome and I would recommend anyone who is visiting to eat this way. You get the opportunity to interact with the staff, wander around the kitchen, and speak about what’s being made, where it sourced, and how they do it. It was a memorable weekend for all the right reasons and I would happily drive the 5.5 hours to Colbost again just for another Old Fashioned, even though the Head Bartender emailed me the recipe :-) This is a 5 star experience: food, location, staff, rooms, and we will be back soon.

Una vez más una encantadora experiencia de almuerzo en el conservatorio. Personal amablemente amable. Buen consejo sobre cómo nos gustaría que nuestros filetes estén hechos. Pedí pudines, pero tan deliciosos y llenos, que tuve que llevarme la mitad de chocolate a casa.

A really lovely and quiet little cafe with friendly and helpful staff members, speedy service and really good food for reasonable prices. Would really recommend the waffles. Thanks.

I needed a room in Keith for one night and was lucky to find The Fife Arms hotel. The room was small and cosy. The bed was very comfortable and the ensuite shower and toilet was clean and tidy. Breakfast was self service in a small dedicated room off the main kitchen but provided everything I needed.

We ended up going here for 3 nights in a row for dinner and each night was a wonderful experience, we had a chance to try out several different dishes!! They have a lovely selection as well as use good flavors. The staff is fantastic always greets you and checks in on you through out the meal.

Just fab! Just one thing: breakfast, which was smoked haddock did need the milked which it was cooked in served alongside..😉

Visited for business Xmas lunch, great staff and the food was very nice.

We went here for lunch after a walk. We had a dog with us and we knew the place was dog friendly. Never mind dog friendly: all-round friendly. The service was excellent and pleasantly chatty. The food was great, which was just as well because the portions were huge. I had half a portion of chili nachos with a side of chips. Even the half portion, after a walk on the beach, was more than I could eat and I was tempted to hire a room for a post prandial nap. It's a bit hidden from the A96, so best to get sat nav directions.
