The Woodlands Centre cafe is located in the grounds of Lews Castle and next to some amazing woodlands that you can walk along. The cafe is constructed of wood and built by the local staff and has an amazing large glass frontage. The chef cooks an amazing Scottish breakfast with great coffee served by very friendly and helpful staff. There are cakes and scones on offer which are very tasty. There is small shopping area as you enter from the car park and at the front there is play area for the kids. The food and service is well worth visit with great value for money.

We stayed three nights at the Tomich Hotel to be close to the hiking in Glenn Affric and it was the perfect location to base camp out of for our stay. The weather was quite variable in August so we liked being close to home when the weather would inevitably turn. Glenn Affric is very quiet, we saw very few people in the best way possible and likewise enjoyed the calm of The Tomich Hotel. We were thankful for the pack lunches the hotel chef prepared for us and for hot breakfast in the morning AND dinner in the evening. There is not a lot of other dining nearby so it was nice that everything could be taken care of food wise right at the Hotel. (The cafe next door has wonderful sandwiches and soups in the morning / early afternoon.) If you like peace and quiet and being on the doorstep of incredible scenery and hiking, this is the perfect place for you.

Called into the Ralia cafe for a coffee on the long journey up the A9. What a lovely place for a break I had a flat white and a sandwich and both of them were delicious… the sandwich was one of the freshest and tastiest ones I’ve ever had. Nice big car parks that will accommodate not only cars but motor homes and caravans too. Toilets available … free if you use the café facilities and 30p if you don’t Two friendly helpful members of staff on duty. I shall definitely stop again next time and if you’re travelling on the A9 I suggest you do too!

I did not have long in Kyle of Lochalsh and I wanted to get a quick snack before my train left. I went to Hector's Bothy where they had a wide range of sweet treats available. I picked a gypsy cream which looked really tempting. I made my purchase and left to catch my train. I thoroughly enjoyed it with a cup of tea purchased from the station museum.

First class service. Friendly staff, ambience and decor very welcoming. I had the venison which was cooked to perfection. The tablet sundae was delicious. Only downside no hot chocolate which would have been a plus but overall a great meal. The prices are very reasonable. Thoroughly recommend need to book in high season. It’s just off the high street .

I visited the Cullen Bay Hotel yesterday for dinner from their Christmas Menu. I have to say it was the best Christmas meal I have ever had. We had the roast turkey and blade of beef. Both meats were melt in the mouth, the roast and mash potatoes were hugely tasty, the variety of vegetables were cooked to perfection and there was lots of delicious accompaniments. Along with this we had prawn cocktail for starter and baked alaska for dessert....both stunning. The hotel was very nicely decorated for Christmas and there was a good selection of Christmas music playing. The staff were very friendly and courteous. If you haven't had a Christmas meal yet be sure to head to the Cullen Bay Hotel. Their usual menu looked very extensive too and I'm sure would be just as delicious.

Great hotel. Menu excellent got their roast beef dinner wow absolute amazing flavours and great potion size my granddaughter got the macaroni with garlic bread half portion I would hate to see the full portion. It was massive. The staff are friendly helpful I’m always cold so I asked for an extra Blanket they bought two they have a disabled ramp outside and a large car park. They even offered to bring my gorgeous roast beef dinner to my Room. Wonderful Service, would I come here again? Yes, they don’t have a lift and I had to go a couple of stairs to the bedroom, but I’m sure if I’d asked for a lower floor bedroom. I could’ve got one but forgot They helped me up the stairs open doors wonderful, wonderful service

We used this bakery for lunch and it was very good, staff friendly and attentive. The items on sale were delicious! I opted for the Steak Pie and my wife the Cheese and Onion Pastie, both very tasty and warm. Cakes were also very good! Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
