Absolute joke of a place ridiculous food menu, quality of food disgusting sausages tasted like soap, chips were the worst chips ever tasted, prices out of this world for what you get, aged place owner clearly uses the location and accessibility to other places as an advantage. Making money of off the drinks only.and kitchen open for two hours in the evening… in our opinion they shouldn’t cook..! Avoid and look at different locations as food locations round there is none.

This hotel&restaurant definitely has a vintage charm. We stayed at a B&B in the next town and just went for dinner. We did not have any expectations other than to get a warm meal. What we got: the best Steak&Ale pie we‘ve ever eaten. It was the most unexpected find on our entire trip.

Stayed for 3 nights, the owner?Peter was very pleasant and very informative.Food menu not very big but they did what they did well, and Peter went out of his way to chat to everyone. The place is what it is! Very clean but yes it has the charm of an old building. Our room was in the annex and was quite big. The surrounding area is stunning and worth a visit .

I have eaten in many places and was looking forward to a nice meal as others had recommended the hotel. They were there quite a few years ago though. Myself and my father ate there on the 29th of May I had the haggis to start, which was expensive for a slice of haggis on just as much potato with a splash of gravy over the top. It wasn’t very tasty, but I was hungry after a day travelling. My father had veg spring rolls which he said were very bland. We both had the Thai chicken curry and all I can say is that there were chewy chunks of chicken in a green soup with rice in the side. Not a vegetable to be seen. All served in an old pudding bowl (small) and we were given a spoon to eat it. The bottled beer was fine, but nothing else. It’s also very run down and nothing like the website. I did try to book to stay, but fortunately (now) there was no availability. I heard the young waiter tell other guests the salmon was off the menu. The burger looked like something out of Mcdonalds! I won’t be back! We are in the Slaters arms in Cannich the next night, which was fine though small portions. A more reasonable price with more selection of drinks.

We dined here as it was the only place accessible from our holiday cottage. Although late in the season we were made welcome, despite that fact that we we were the only people dining. Our server wasn’t friendly, didn’t seem to want to serve us and made zero effort to make us feel welcome. Food was fine but not brilliant. The barman, Dave, was very welcoming and friendly and the food was excellent. In fact, I would go so far as to say the Thai green curry that I had was one of the best I have ever tasted, and I eat a quite a lot of Thai food!

My husband I were renting a cottage for the week in Cannich, and decided to come here for a meal. We had a few negative experiences whilst in the Highlands, mainly, to our surprise, how dog unfriendly most places were. Here however, dogs were made just as welcome as people. We ate in The Black Pennell Bar, and it was a really lovely evening. The bar was busy, and all the staff were happy and friendly. The food was delicious, I'd never tried haggis, but the chicken stuffed with haggis was divine, and the vegetables and mashed potato to go with it were cooked to perfection too, and the puddings were seriously good. I would definately recommend this place for a meal to anyone staying nearby, and it was nice to have the option to eat inside with our dog, as most places you can't.

She was very helpful, friendly and informative of the local area (pointing out walks on the local map). We came back for a drink every night and again Kat was friendly, we met Bernard (Landlord) on our 2nd night and he was just as friendly and helpful. This night we decided to eat as we where waiting for the rest of our party to arrive that night, we had the homemade burger from the menu and the haggis burger on the specials, both where excellent (we had half each). On our last night we again had dinner here between us we had three different mains, steak (cooked to perfection, and one of the best we had had for sometime), fresh Scottish salmon (again amazing) and haggis stuffed chicken (again very very good) all well cooked and top notch. Starters and puddings equally as good. If coming to the area, to stay or just to walk the area, we would highly recommend The Tomich Hotel, eating or just a quick drink (or a few) they are also welcoming and helpful with ideas for you next day. Just what we needed after a long driveAfter arriving in Tomich, and getting settled in our self catering (Tomich Holidays), a light supper was needed, and the Tomich hotel restaurant and Black Pennel bar fit the bill. The menu included several local favorites, and carrot and coriander soup served with a healthy slice of bread and butter. The soup was hot and delicious. The polyglot banter of the other patrons was an enjoyable accompaniment for this meal. Unfortunately we did not take the opportunity to try the restaurant again, but I am sure the meal would have been excellent in an authentic highland pub experience. This restaurant had an overwhelming variety of single malt scotches, and a few ales. It's a varied menu to cater for all tastes - whether it be a homemade beef burger (options to add cheese/bacon/haggis), baked whole loch trout, Cajun chicken, or homemade curry - there's an option for everyone as well as a kids menu and vegetarian menu. The chefs curry is cooked fresh with every individual order so you can choose how spicy you like it... many visitors have said it's the best curry they've ever eaten! Also there's a chefs special and homemade soup which changes daily, for example "breast of chicken stuffed with haggis, served with mashed potatoes & whisky sauce" or "mustard marinated pork steak with garlic butter, chips & salad" - the pork was so tender it barely needed a steak knife! Tomich is a lovely little village 3 miles from a beautiful waterfall/forest called Plodda Falls and also nearby the breathtaking scenery of Glen Affric, so in my opinion this hotel & restaurant is the perfect place to relax and refuel while exploring the beautiful scenery surrounding it.

We stayed 3 nights nearby @ Kerrow House & came here for all our lunches & dinners. The food was really good & moderately priced. The owners made us feel very welcome & kept a spot next to the fire for us each day.

We went here twice during our stay in Tomich. Did not necessarily expect it, but the homemade food was delicious! Warm goat cheese as a starter, high quality burger as main course. And of course a portion of Haggis to share.

We stopped off here on a cold Saturday in November when we were sightseeing in Glen Affric. It was the only place open for lunch for miles around. It was quite quiet so lacked atmosphere and quite cold at first, though there was a fire going. We had parsnip and apple soup with bread which was lovely.

Stopped off here for lunch after a walk to Plodda Falls. The lady who greeted us was very warm and welcoming and explained that our dog was able to join us in the bar.The bar was cold at first (outside temperature this time of year is below 4 degrees C), but the fire soon warmed us up. The choice of food was great, the portion sizes were big which we loved as the food served was delicious. The Whisky range wasn't too expansive but enough choice to suit everyone's tastes. The hostess also explained some local history to us. Really felt welcomed and appreciated throughout. We were the only people here during our brief visit, lovely and quiet, that's how we both like it when eating out.

We were staying at the farm up the hill and called in all week. The hotel was very welcoming and always found a way to fit us in. The food was good, especially the red cabbage. They make changes to dishes to accommodate individual tastes to such an extent the new risotto became more popular than the original! The desserts were not up to the standards of the starters and mains unfortunately. The staff were all very friendly and we were treated like good friends every time we arrived. We will definitely go back and thoroughly recommend a visit.

This is the place for a fantastic Sunday lunch. Out of the way and cosily quiet. Excellent food and friendly service. Don't go for breakfast though, they advertise it but don't actually serve it, which is a bit of a disappointment.

Set in the beautiful surroundings of Glen Affric, we were lucky enough to stay here in the Coach House. A very convivial atmosphere. The staff were excellent. The room was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We ate in the bar & had a substantial evening meal. The breakfast choice was varied, of good quality & very well presented. The light in the valley is unique' I awoke to the most amazing orange through to yellow sunrise. I would certainly recommend it for a quiet break & exploring the surrounding countryside.

Near Glen Affric the Tomich hotel is the perfect location to explore the area. The owners are charming and very helpful. There is a lovely atmosphere in the place. The rooms are big enough and quirky. Not first class, but cosy and clean. The atmosphere in the pub and the pub food are very good.

The food here reminded me so much of my Grandparents! It was tasty and filling comfort food! We went for a bar meal and had haggis, venison sausages and beef - it was just what we wanted after a day of walking! The staff were very friendly and again the decor was classic Scottish pub decor! For me the prices were a bit much but that seems to be the way in these parts. The food was much better than another place down the road that was more expensive.

My wife and I went to the tomich hotel pub during August 2016. After walking in Glen Affric during the all day, we came to the tomich hotel pub in the evening. This is a nice place, very authentic, with lovely houses all along the village.Charmed by this area, we entered in the pub quite happy and really impatient to discover the tomich hotel food. The restaurant menu was quite interesting and we choose the tomich hotel burger because we like burger (not mc donalds or this kind of stuff).Well the fairy stopped when we got the "burgers"... a bun + a steak + a bun. Nothing else to thicken the steak with the bun. You have to pay 1 pound more for each food items (cheese, bacon or haggis) The deep frozen steak was too cooked and too salted, and really digusting. The chips had the taste of old cooking oil. A salad went with the dish, with a factory-made sauce (not even able to prepare the salad dressing...)Well, my wife couldn t eat that... and what could we call that by the way? Not a proper burger for sure. Even not able to compete with mc Donalds! Is there a cook in the kitchen? That is the question i am still wondering.Last but not least, a bill of 25£ for this only 2 burgers. For the same price, we ate far better food elsewhere during our stay in scotland.A pub to avoid for sure!!

We had a great meal at this tiny, cozy pub-restaurant. Beers were fresh and good selection on tap, and our dinners were delicious. Smoked salmon salad and a soup to start, with my partner having beef ribs which literally fell off the bone. I wasn't expecting the food to be this good considering the location (very small town) but I was more than pleasantly surprised. The staff was also very friendly and we had a good chat with our server.
