Conservatory Restaurant in Highland

My friend's husband surprised her for her 60th birthday. It was a lovely night great food and lovely company.

Stayed here for a night on our way between places and it was completely adequate. Parking was very easy and the location is wonderful for being walking distance to town. The room was clean but very hot in September (windows would only open a bit, though there was a standing fan in the room). The interior was dated and generic. The front desk was very friendly, however my reservation under the wrong name so there was some confusion at check-in. The breakfast staff was kind but the food offered was quite low quality (we ended up not eating any of it and walking into town where we had a very delicious meal instead). I'd say this was better than a basic hotel and a great option for a quick stop in Inverness, but probably shouldn't call itself "luxury."

We had afternoon tea on the 19/09/2024 it was a gift from.my daughter, I was very disappointed on the sandwiches and cakes, apart from the fact we were meant to get a coronation chicken sandwich each. We got 1 coronation chicken and 3 egg mayonnaise, the bread was hard, the cakes were so small and the strawberry tart was filled with custard which we didn't eat. I was so disappointed with this. The only good thing was the tea and scones

Lovely hotel with great facilities and service

Called into Kingsmill for lunchtime meal and a view around the hotel we were made really welcome by Lee the concierge who very helpful with his knowledge of the hotel and giving us chance to view two rooms that are available and the lunch meal was delicious thank you 4

Nice hotel where room was clean and big with a separate room with bunk beds for the kids. Restaurant is very nice. Breakfast includes a lot of choice with good and fresh products.

We came here to feel the history associated with Inverness. We booked long in advance and had high hopes that this would be authentically Scottish. They did NOT greet us warmly as they claim they do. We got in at 3:45 and they sent us to an outhouse, or rather garden house from about 1995. We called and asked for an upgrade; "you have an upgrade" they said.. This went back and forth to no avail. Tried several times. No resolution or concession of ANY kind. They Don't Care. Only bright spot, Pam Oliver was nice to them. This place is a loser. Front desk Pam Oliver was nice. Other than that. Forget it!

Our dinner was so disappointing, we had high hopes based on the menu’s descriptions but we were so underwhelmed. I had the duck (and had to pay a supplement to the fixed price menu) and it was not edible. It was way over cooked and tasted like liver. The server seemed to understand it should have been pink and said she would be sure and tell the chef about our comments. The scallop appetizer was very good, the mackerel appetizer was ok, the fish was “fishy” and there was no horseradish in the horseradish crème. The trout entree was very blah and the sides had odd flavors. The wedge salad was rather “sad”. I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Nice hotel, excellent service and nice choice of food.

This place was super posh. Great food amazing service!! Ask about their lochness tour. Most of the staff are good friends with ol Nessie. If you ask nice enough they can get you a autograph!!!!

This place is something special. At first the menu confused us with 2 courses or 3 courses and starters, mains, from the grill, sides. They could clean up their menu and description but don’t be put off. Every bite was fantastic and I told Chef Andy just that. We had the carrot starter, carrot confit wrapped around carrot mousse with pumpkin seeds. Then the grilled Plaise, a tender white fish and the trout. Both so good with steamed greens that was a green veg medley but outstanding and the trout had a zucchini, spinach layered side. Dessert was a strawberry rhubarb cheese cake like no cheese cake I’ve seen with sorbet. All reasonable and a too modest staff. They don’t know what they’ve got here. Michelin where are you. If you’re in Inverness just go to the Kingsmill Hotel and eat here!

Booked lunch and the food was fabulous, my friends birthday and the staff arranged a plate of sweet treats for him, very thoughtful of them. I’m local to Inverness and walking distance, will recommend to friends

Rooms are very nice and comfy. Service in the lounge for dinner was ridiculously slow! Probably would not go back because of the slow service.

This was a very nice hotel. I gave the room only 4 stars because it was a bit dated. One lamp did not work and no washcloths provided. I'm guessing this is the norm in Scotland, but how do I use the body wash with no washcloth or scrunggie? Another norm in Scotland is the very narrow toilet seats. Felt like I'm sitting on a rail and hurt the backs of my thighs. Otherwise, this was a nice stay for a couple of days. Staff was extremely pleasant both at the front desk and restaurant. The bar area is a lot of fun in the afternoon and the bartender introduced me to the French Martini! I've now had it several times around the country and at home here in the US and no one can quite make it like he did. What's your secret? Location is not bad, but the walk to town will take a good 20-30 minutes. Not bad, but when it's cold and rainy, not a pleasant walk. I would recommend this hotel.

This hotel is one of the best I stay in . The rooms are just great the food is amazing but the location is lovely right along side inverness golf course

Great location and walkable to the downtown area. Room and bathroom were clean and well appointed. Food in the restaurant and bar were above average. Breakfast was very good with a varied assortment of hot and cold items. Breakfast was noted to begin at 7am but we found that on both mornings they were a bit late in opening.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The staff were wonderful! Very professional and helpful as always. Extra care and attention was paid to the dietery requirements of my husband who is gluten intolerant. I cannot recommend the restaurant highly enough.

I booked online for a table for four and also confirmed by email. There was no record of our booking at the restaurant reception when we arrived. However they had plenty of tables available. Food was good but service not so. Ordered coffee to finish and after paying waited for an age it but it didn't arrive. Then asked and it eventually arrived but no apology.

Great hotel, nice big beds in the king rooms. We've had outstanding times in these rooms.

I really wish the Kingsmills would up their quality of food. The location, environment and serving staff deserve 5 stars but the food for me has been a let down over my past few visits. Steak is always grizzly and not cooked as requested. Menus are not clear - (going back to my mothers birthday in October) I ordered a salmon terrine, there was also ham terrine on the menu - which you would expect to be similar - the ham terrine was as described, the salmon was actually a weird little quiche full of goats cheese which I couldn’t eat but had to argue with the waitress before she went back to the kitchen and agreed it was not a terrine, included goats cheese which was not described on the menu and didn’t include the beetroot salsa. The food is priced as 4 star but doesn’t meet expectations. I recently had a scallop starter - scallops were delicious and served with curry purée but no carb/veg/salad leaves to give it some texture or any kind of substance (it included a supplement). It is really disappointing for such a lovely hotel that I would like to visit more often.

Had Dinner at the Kingsmills Hotel for myself and my partner, the Concierge was very polite, the staff were very professional, and the three course meal was just fantastic, all in all, it was a wonderful place to eat, I would highly recommend it, and will go back.

Visited for a conference, didn't stay or dine. But it's a fine place with really great service.

Where to begin?! My experience at The Kingsmills was just incredible. I treated my mum for her 60th birthday and took her for a massage at the spa, which was so relaxing from start to finish, with attentative staff who amended their approach to suit my mums needs. We then proceeded to have afternoon tea which was so perfect. As a special birthday treat they surprised us with a glass of bubbly each and some additional dessert items which had 'Happy birthday' on it. Such brilliant attention to detail and exemplary service from start to finish. I can't praise the staff enough. We will be back!!

We made reservations for the restaurant and had dinner there last night. I informed them I have a gluten allergy and a milk allergy prior to ordering. They assured me it would be catered to. I don’t know what happened but as soon as we got back to our hotel (we are staying elsewhere) I got VIOLENTLY ILL. For hours -up being violently sick all. night. long. until 5am the next day. I’m extremely disappointed, especially for the price we paid for this dinner (Over £100 for 2 people!). My recommendation is to skip eating here and go elsewhere - save yourself the violent food poisoning!!!

Hotel staff were very nice. If you're staying here for a night don't book it expecting to use the pool and jacuzzi. It closes at 9 but they stop letting people in at 8:15. We arrived around 6 so had to make the decision to enjoy dinner downtown vs using pool/jacuzzi. Even if they let people use it for the last 10 mins, it would've been nice. The room we had wasn't the greatest. It was quite cold with a thin comforter.

I visited for Stars In Their Eyes for SNAP Inverness: All staff were very friendly and professional all through the evening. Kudos to them. The facilities are welcoming and clean. Beautiful location.

Excellent staff at reception in the spa hotel dinner was terrible service was extremely poor and food could not be eaten no one questioned the fact that the food had not been touched first poor experience in what has always been an excellent experience hopefully just a one off

Very nice hotel. Large comfortable rooms and large beds. Beautiful bathroom. Very important and convenient free parking. 15 mins walking from city center.

Another lovely stay! Great room, suits us with our little dog. Wonderful breakfast, plenty of choice! Dinner was excellent- if one slight negative, the table we were seated at in the conservatory was too dark, difficult to read menu. See you next time

We were here for a charity event and had a great experience. The staff were friendly and helpful and the building was nice to. Finding parking was a problem when we were there but got somewhere eventually.

Booked for afternoon tea for myself and my mum so didn't use the facilities like rooms or spa.. food was delicious, cakes were amazing and the scones were just fantastic

It looks quite ordinary from outside but really nice inside. A real Scottish warm atmosphere with freshly decorated rooms. No fridge but no problems. Good location for the Highlands. Good staff also. 4 to 5 star hotel.

Was at an event..not staying, but it's very up market...nice place..very professional.

An exceptional welcome with tasting of a local whisky. Very friendly attitude from the person at reception. A large, clean and well-equipped room. Excellent value for money. The only downside is that the parking lot, although large, is undersized compared to the hotel's capacity.

My friend and I had afternoon tea which was lovely. Next time though, I must ask for no salmon sandwiches. The lady did ask did we have allergies but it is more a matter of taste. The cakes were sublime.

Been a great stay at the Kingsclub and Spa

Very good hotel with comfortable facilities and very good restaurant. They have parking onsite with 2 charges (4 plugs) for EV cars (only Type 2 connectors). The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

Great lunch! Steaks done to perfection - 1 medium rare, 1 well done. As always service great. Starters of soup and goats cheese, lovely portions before mains. Cheesecake with macaroon and sorbet, great finisher to overall great meal.

Lovely surroundings for a lunch in the conservatory, the food is of a fine quality and not too expensively priced. Staff are a real credit to the establishment, so warm and welcoming and professional. Toilets good for disabled access, very nice and clean.

Staff were friendly and helpful, especially with my mother in law in a wheelchair. We had afternoon tea, it was tasty but could have done with more savoury and the numbering of items was odd..

Had my 50th Birthday meal at lunch on Saturday 9th April 2022 and the meal was excellent. I chose the steak and I can honestly say it was the best steak I've ever eaten! The Conservatory restaurant is family friendly, the youngest member of my family is 16 months old. Service was excellent. The hotel were hosting a wedding at the time of our visit and there were plenty of staff at the restaurant. Big thank you for the lovely treat of caramel slices on a happy birthday plate, a lovely touch!

From initially booking from an Xmas gift for me & hubby, then dogs couldn't get into kennels, the staff sorted everything out so that our mutts were more than welcome too ! Staff amazing. The hotel perfect in every way. Thanks especially to Ed, Jordan & Rhys. What felt like we may have missed out on our break, they fixed it all. We are in Perth, so a wee bit of a drive, but we will return many times. Wonderful experience 🥰

We returned to the Kingsmills Hotel for our Annual Dinner on Saturday night and were not disappointed the service was first class as was the meal again 10 out of 10 they way they looked after us from booking the date to the night we have booked for next year looking forward to it thanks again

I have been to the Kingsmill a few times with husband / friends or with my Golden Retriever Ollie. The food is always lovely , the rooms are lovely . I was up this weekend with my mum and sister for a two night girly break , was disappointed with the bar service very slow and actually ended up retiring really early to our room after waiting 30 minutes for drinks on the Friday night. The staff were busy and looked stressed , the bar staff told us to sit down and they would be with us when they got caught up but we continued to wait! This was improved on Saturday after speaking to a lovely front of house gentleman who made sure we got our lunch and drinks . Having said all this I will still go back as I love the setting and I also know how hard it is in hospitality and how hard they work . Jill

We came as a surprise for my brother in law. We had a fabulous time with him for his birthday. The staff are fabulous and the garden room was amazing. Food was absolutely outstanding. Genuinely couldn't have been better

Fantastic stay at this hotel. Food, rooms and service all great but where they really excelled was their customer service - their staff are amazing- nothing is too much trouble and they genuinely go out of their way to make sure you are having a great stay.

My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights in a garden room as part of the “winter warmer deal”. Our room was clean and was well equipped. During our stay housekeeping freshened up our room and made sure all supplies were filled. The outside patio was a lovely addition to sit in to enjoy the nice weather. We dined in the Inglis Restaurant and have no complaints whatsoever about the meal. The staff were also very helpful however, clearly stretched and understaffed but this did not affect their service. We also made use of the hotels spa facilities that were clean and the staff were helpful. Unfortunately, the sauna was broken during our stay but we enjoyed the jacuzzi and swimming pool. We also enjoyed a wide selection of breakfast each morning accompanied with different fruit juices. The buffet included both hot and cold options, cereals, porridge etc. There was plenty to choose from. Overall, we will be staying again and will be looking out for similar deals to the winter warmer.

Went for awards do .lovely ,clean hotel ,staff seemed confused and busy however the meal was absolutly disgusting it consisted of puff pastry wrapped round a warm banana and a tiny icecream on the side with no mint? It was dry( now that couldv been finished with a dusting of icing sugar and chocolate sauce and strawberry ontop at least. With a fresh mint sprig on the icecream ) . The main course they gave me (puff pastry with root veg) which was completly tasteless even salt and pepper never helped .the canapes were lovely vegetarian option was a tiny cucumber chunk with hummus and teriyaki with a sundried tomato on top for a vegetarian option idv at least expected a pasta dish or goats cheese and beetroot tart which wouldv been more palatable for the standard of the kingsmills hotel .the drinks were ok flowing the food and service let the side down alot hence 2 stars idv seriously expected alot more for the standard of hotel where mel gibson would stay previously.

My wife Muriel and I had a wonderful two night stay at The Kingsmill Hotel, Inverness 22-24 March 2022 as a Christmas present to each other. We stayed in a Retreat room with a lovely patio overlooking the golf course. The room was excellent - clean, spacious and comfortable with a magnificent super king-size bed. We also had an upper body treatment each, which were absolutely superb. From check-in to check-out, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Every member of staff we encountered was so professional, knowledgeable and friendly. It would be impossible to pick out anyone in particular as they were all so good at what they did for us. Nothing was too much trouble and all with a smile. The dinners in the Conservatory restaurant and the breakfasts in the Kings Club was exceptional in choice, quality and portion size. We were amazed at how the staff worked as a team - everyone had a part to play and played it so well, working together seamlessly. We went not knowing what to expect and left with what we consider a great bunch of friends. They are a team to be proud of and we will certainly be back! Ian and Muriel Noble

Booked a table in conservatory for 2 persons for lunch; 5 March 2022. From the moment we arrived service was excellent. All staff professionally friendly and polite. Lunch was quickly ordered and served. Food delicious, hot and so tasty. Will definitely be lunching again.

Make sure you book for dinner or it’s likely room service only. Nice staff and nice hotel overall with zero complaints however breakfast selection is a bit traditional (dull) and could do with updated more modern choices.

We arrived in Inverness a bit earlier than the stated check in time but the hotel kindly allowed us to access our room earlier as it was ready. When we got to our room we discovered it wasn’t actually the room we had booked so informed the front desk. When my partner spoke to a member of staff to explain what had happened, she felt she was spoken to rudely and the staff member wasn’t very apologetic for the mistake they had made. We were visiting the hotel for our sons 1st birthday and had booked a superior family room. The hotel put us into a king room because apparently they had double booked. The king room is also cheaper than the superior room we had initially booked. Nothing was mentioned to us when we arrived to say there had been a mistake. We booked a superior family room because it has a separate space for our son and his travel cot. The manager Kevin was very nice about the situation. He explained there was no other rooms to offer us because the hotel was fully booked but allowed us to have supper/drinks on the hotel for their mistake. We also got 15% off the room and a nice gesture for our sons birthday at breakfast. Lovely hotel and have heard so many good things about the place, a shame we had a bad experience and won’t be returning.

Excellent hotel, great value for money, fantastic room which was a luxury room. Attentive staff in all areas of the hotel. Couldn't cheak in until 4pm, waited in bar with a beer, watching the football. Great night away.

The hotel and the staff were amazing. Visited the hotel with the entire family and another family who were friends. We took the family rooms which were large and spacious. The rooms is were tidy, neat and the hotel was clean. The leisure facilitates and the swimming pool can do with some improvements but nothing major. We would definitely got back to stay there.

We had a family lunch for 10. The restaurant manager greeted all our guests with style. The staff were excellent and the Sunday lunch absolutely superb. For the beautiful surroundings the pricing was extraordinarily reasonable.

Stayed for 3 nights B&B with family members. Staff couldn't have been more courteous, helpful or friendly and accommodation was very good. Hotel breakfast until 11.00 am meant we could have a longer sleep after being out late meeting other family members. Lovely grounds and comfortable, spacious bedrooms. Breakfast very good although evening meal prices just a wee bit high but really nicely presented and tasted wonderful.

I honestly couldn't not recommend this hotel enough. From the moment we arrived we felt so welcomed, staff were lovely and helpful and they genuinely couldn't do enough for us if they tried. Food in the main dining area was exceptional, again staff being super attentive. First time for me and my partner, we already can't wait to come back later in the year!

We stayed here for a funeral family meeting with dinner on 7th and reception on 8th February. Every single member of staff made us very welcome and did their jobs with pride and great customer service, nothing was too much. Thank you for looking after us so well. We look forward to returning.

Me and my friend had a wonderful overnight stay at the Kingsmills. The staff were all very polite and friendly. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. We used the gym and pool facilities before breakfast and it was the best way to start the day! Will definitley return when we are next in the area
