We went here for lunch after a walk. We had a dog with us and we knew the place was dog friendly. Never mind dog friendly: all-round friendly. The service was excellent and pleasantly chatty. The food was great, which was just as well because the portions were huge. I had half a portion of chili nachos with a side of chips. Even the half portion, after a walk on the beach, was more than I could eat and I was tempted to hire a room for a post prandial nap. It's a bit hidden from the A96, so best to get sat nav directions.

Had a lovely meal the portion sizes were great , the fish chips came in two sizes the small was just enough . The staff were really helpful and happy to help. The place is getting some work done on it to make it bigger . But this doesn’t make any difference to the service you get .

First time visit since we moved here. Three of us went for a meal in the bar area. The meal was fabulous, good sized portions, and well presented. Recommend the fish and chips, venison was cooked to perfection, burger was juicy and tasty. For dessert recommend the biscoff cheese cake which was so light and fluffy with a perfect base, a great dessert to finish off with. A very good selection of wines too. Staff were lovely and friendly. Will definitely go again

We went to the Havelock on a couple of occasions as we have done on previous stays in Nairn. It's been given a decent, if no slightly industrial makeover since we were last there. The beer is good and the staff are friendly. Having seen food being served on our first visit we booked a table there for a couple of days later. When we arrived for our meal the pub was much busier than on our previous visit, but what was coming out of the kitchen looked quite ok. I ordered the Venison & Haggis burger and my Wife chose the breaded chicken. The burger was so salty it was almost inedible and it was very dry, and the coating on my Wifes chicken basically turned into dust when she cut into it. We got money off the bill, but we would much rather have had a better meal.

Stayed overnight snd had the worst sleep ever. Told the staff twice the heating was not working until eventually they called the owner. When he arrived made an excuse about batteries in a control not working. Asked for a portable heater but was refused saying they were not allowed. Room did heat up but was still ot warm. My wife and I woke up at 2am fteezing cold to find out that the heating was off. Nothing we could do as the staff had already advised nobody would be in from midnight to 7am. Got up in the morning and heating was warm. Very clear the owner does not put the heating on unless there is a complaint and even then turns it off overnight. His attitude was also very dismissive.

We’ve been to the havelock before and have always loved it, so we booked in advance for the first night of our holidays. The work they’ve done to meet Covid regulations is above and beyond, the place and the beer garden both look great. We sat in the restaurant in a nice window seat, we had arrived very early for our table and were grateful we could be seated early. Our starters were lovely although I’ve never had mozzarella sticks without a sauce before so that was strange, and the haggis & onion bhaji’s really we’re gorgeous. One of the main meals, seafood pasta, was lovely and loaded with seafood. However the fajitas were a bit of a disappointment as the two tortillas were stale. They had been grilled but as someone who often makes fajitas at home I know this will not make the tortilla stale and fall apart when you try to fold them, they even looked stale so for the kitchen to serve them was quite unforgivable and I shouldn’t have to complain. I know I should have raised it at the time but we were sitting next to an exceptionally loud group of women who seemed to be competing to see who could be loudest, so we didn’t want to be there any longer than we needed to be.The staff were really pleasant and they were doing a great job of keeping everyone in the restaurant happy. I know it must be so hard just now with all the new guidelines but they are doing a grand job. I’m not sure if we’ll be back, there are so many great restaurants in Nairn and this one thing was such a disappointment.

My husband I stopped here for lunch with our dog as the hotel is billed as dog friendly. We ordered a Steak & Onion and a Spicky Chicken Baguette, halloumi fries a still water and a coke. The food was good except that we were unable to find any onion in the Steak & Onion Baguett, however we did find a mustard based sauce! The halloumi fries just tasted of oil, so give them a miss. The total bill was £23.20. The toilets were very clean and the waitress was very pleasant. Now my pet subject, pardon the pun - how good is it for the dog! Our dog is a whippet and most sighthounds have difficulty sitting on hard wooden floors, so it makes for a uncomfortable long stand for the dog on a wooden floor. We had to ask for water and although it was delivered quickly, I did feel it was a bit of an inconvenience. Overall for a quick bite, lack of onions and long stand for the dog, this place is worth a visit.

A few friends and I went to the havelock last night on saturday to have a few drinks and I arrived later than the rest of them but when I arrived I was told by a friend that she was hearing a member of staff,( tall black hair) swearing at customers earlier that night and just towards the end of the night my friend was shouted at for something so simple and could’ve been easily solved by simply saying please and talking with her calmly as she wasn’t spoken to before this or warned at all before this, my friend couldn’t hear over all the noise when this member of staff was talking to her and wasn’t aware it was her she was shouting at because she wasn’t doing anything wrong to be sworn at abuseivily, the amount of swearing and shouting that came from this staff member was outrages aswell as the tone of her voice and facial expressions and just embarrassed my friend completely, nothing against her in general but wasn’t happy with this as you don’t speak to customers like this in the work industry and If I had spoken like this to my customers I would’ve gotten fired.

Just been here for a meal, food was excellent, staff were friendly and cheerful. Would definitely recommend coming here for a meal. The Hunters Burger and the Cheesecake were delicious 😋

Went for lunch with my pal and our daughters, the service wasn’t the best but when my daughters meal arrived it had a hair on it. The waitress didn’t seem to get that she should of taken the meal and the plate away. Won’t be going back anytime soon, very disappointing as had heard such good things.

We visited here last night and at first we were the only people in the restaurant before two other families came in, although the bar was busy. Kyle was our server and he was very chatty, friendly and helpful so a huge thanks to him. We had fish and chips and the Hunter burger which I’ve also added pictures of. The chocolate and orange mousse cake was also rated very good. My boyfriend also got to swap the ice cream for one he preferred.

We were staying in Nairn last week, at the local caravan park. We went to the Havelock the first night, as it was my husband's birthday, and we knew it was dog friendly as we'd been there 5 years ago. The four of us were wowed again by the beautiful food, and lovely staff. The weather wasn't great this visit, so no barbecue as planned lol - instead, back to the Havelock! Menus change on a Saturday, so we all had something different....again, it was fantastic. Only a 5-10 minute walk from the caravan site too. Can't recommend this place enough - amazing staff, fabulous food, decent prices, dog friendly - what more could you ask for??

We enjoyed their "onsite aged" rib eye steak and chips. Perfect service and nice looking out over the river Ness.

We stayed three nights at the Tomich Hotel to be close to the hiking in Glenn Affric and it was the perfect location to base camp out of for our stay. The weather was quite variable in August so we liked being close to home when the weather would inevitably turn. Glenn Affric is very quiet, we saw very few people in the best way possible and likewise enjoyed the calm of The Tomich Hotel. We were thankful for the pack lunches the hotel chef prepared for us and for hot breakfast in the morning AND dinner in the evening. There is not a lot of other dining nearby so it was nice that everything could be taken care of food wise right at the Hotel. (The cafe next door has wonderful sandwiches and soups in the morning / early afternoon.) If you like peace and quiet and being on the doorstep of incredible scenery and hiking, this is the perfect place for you.

Very long waiting time for an inedible burger, the only noticeable taste is gasoline. The restaurant staff were unfazed by the situation.
