This is a good place to get lunch. The fish fingers and chips meal is delicious. The atmosphere is nice. The seats are comfy. There is lots of parking.

Terrible for tourists, the staff ignored us and only served those who came in after us Edit:- replying to the owner below (don't think there's another way to reply to a response) we were in the queue with our menus ready to order, and two orders were taken from people behind us in the queue so we left without ordering. The staff there were visibly and noticeably frustrated with how busy the venue was.

Staff unfriendly and unhelpful. We were ignored for others when trying to order food. On a coach trip with many others! Definitely would not recommend.

Just off the train and ready for lunch we called in; really pleased that we did. Beautiful haddock and chips, freshly cooked and well presented. Friendly staff, clean and bright restaurant, no wonder it's busy. Highly recommended.

My first visit to Isle of Skye. We stayed in kyle of lochalsh. Before heading back to Glasgow we decided to have breakfast here. We sat outside. I had a square sausage with soft white roll. Wow it was so tasty. Catherine had a full breakfast with coffee. She throughly enjoyed it. We would definitely come back here again. I would recommend friends to come here.

We arrived cold on a stormy day and there were a lot of people. They welcomed us and pampered us until a table became available. Excellent fish & chips, excellent burgers and above all great service. Very reasonable prices. If you come here to go to the Isle of Skye, go there!

It is the best place we have eaten in Scotland. The roasted potatoes stuffed with tuna and mayonnaise are delicious. I would definitely return to this site if I return.

As others have said it obviously gets very busy in here and if you're going at lunchtime it may be likely there won't be a table available. We arrived just before lunch and it was already almost full. We managed to grab one of the last tables. As it is small inside there were people queuing for takeaways around the tables but it didn't bother us. It is clearly a popular café and although it seemed chaotic, the staff were efficient and polite. We had the roast chicken with chips, salad and coleslaw which was very nice and averagely priced. We also took away cakes with us which were also very good. Don't be put off by the busyness, they've got it all in hand and I would recommend eating here.

"I didn't want to give even a single star. Here’s what I experienced: My husband and I went to get a coffee and tea as a takeaway order. I had to rush to the washroom, while my husband was at the billing counter. A staff member approached me and rudely said, 'Do you know this washroom is for customers?' She was very arrogant, and when I explained that I was there to purchase coffee, she sarcastically responded, 'Just for coffee!?' I am extremely disappointed by the way she treated me, I wish I knew her name, so that I can mention her here. Even if you serve the best food, if your customer service is lacking or you treat your customers with rude behavior, it’s time to change your staff. I highly do not recommend this café

Great place in every way, perfect place to stop before or after skye.

It was very mainstream in the middle of the town. I would prefer to go to some on the route highway cozy coffee place. This was so busy that they were getting it difficult to manage. Variety options were there but taste wise I just liked it average. There were both cold and hot/panini options but just 1 in chicken cold if u like chicken.

Lovely cake and coffee great staff

This place seemed like the perfect stop for a cuppa and a cake on my way to the Uig ferry in Skye. However I will not be back! It was madness!!! There was people everywhere some sitting some standing and the staff seemed to have no idea what they were doing. I quietly took a seat on the end of a long table where another family joined me. I thought if I didn’t sit down I would get my head snapped off. As another customer was standing and was shouted at to take a seat if they were not getting takeaway! The staff were grumpy with each other as well as grumpy with customers. I understand these places can get extremely busy but in this kinda business there is NO room for rudeness!!! I waited a whole hour for a cup of tea and a cake. The cake was second choice as I ordered red velvet but another staff member served it to a customer who was taking away after my order!!! I ended up choosing carrot cake but much to my disappointment it had nuts going through it which I can’t have but I was hungry and knew it would take too long to try and replace it. There was no signs on cake boards to say this contains nuts. I was able to pick the nuts out. The cup of tea was good though! Then when it was time to pay it was another long wait. This place needs more staff and staff that are friendly!!!

We tried to have a coffee here. Unfortunately we were told that it was only possible to stay if you also eat something. The next table was told the same thing and they also left without ordering.

After a long visit to the surrounding castle (Outlander fans, go see it), we arrived at this place, after parking for 1 pound (it's ugly). Upon entering, a local Scot really disliked us because we left the door open for a moment to see if there was a table. Next time I hope they close it in the Boca, no matter how heavy it is. Finally we went in and tasted the food: 1- The hamburger is a tremendous delicacy, worthy of a North American cardiac arrest. Without a doubt the best in this filthy wasteland in terms of food. 2- The fish and ships are quite good. With a few more, they could seek independence, they would be good food for the troops. Then they kicked us out quickly because it was quite full. The waitress okay, surly like those from this land but normal, they don't have sun.

Very popular village cafe with friendly service and prices.

Entered at about twenty to 2, left at about twenty five past without even getting our drinks, let alone any food. At one point, after over half an hour of waiting and thinking "any minute now", we caught a staff member and asked about our drinks. He said he'd chase it up, but clearly never did. We finally decided to leave when we saw multiple people who'd come in long after us leaving after having already had their meals. This place has the worst "service", if it could even be called that, that I've ever experienced. I'd never recommend this place to anyone in a million years.

Popped in to order some hot rolls for takeaway as we were travelling back from our short holiday. Staff unattentive and rude, made the atmosphere feel very unwelcoming. Had we been welcomed and paid a bit of attention to my review would have been completely different as the food was nice.

Had a lovely sole and chip platter washed down with an incredible red Syke Red ale. Perfectly set up for a brief visit to Kyle of Lochalsh. Note that if you come by train expect everyone to head here! But the food and welcome were great

I had BLT club sandwich. Very substantial and tasty, with chips, which were crispy and tasty. My wife had veggie breakfast which she gave 5 stars. Staff friendly, place was busy, with a great atmosphere

Had a late lunch and really enjoyed my ploughman's salad. 4 large pieces of different cheeses, two different pickle dishes, beetroot, potato salad, 5 oatcakes, coleslaw, pickled onions and mixed salad. The service was very friendly, before we left we had to get two cakes to take away. Certainly recommend a visit to Hector's Bothy thank you.

Very busy when we went today, but the two ladies working did a fantastic job. The food was delicious and the service friendly despite being so busy. Would recommend to anyone who's visiting. The haggis lasagne went down a treat.

Staff very good, excellent place to stop before going on to Skye

The small restaurant on the way to Sky Island can only be used to fill your stomach, not the taste of the food.

Disappointing. Visited several times in the past, last time post pandemic. Today had fish and chips, asked for mushy peas to replace garden peas. Served with both. Bread and butter just one round instead of usual two most places. And the size of the fish? In the past only just able to fit on the plate! Now, less than half the size. All in all not worth the money. Afraid we won't be back.

Generous portions of very nice freshly cooked food, and friendly and efficient service. Good choice of light and larger meals. Recommended!

J’ai voulu prendre un fish and chips, pensant que c’était une valeur sûre, mais quelle a été ma surprise quand j’ai découvert que ce n’était pas du poisson frit, mais plutôt de la friture au poisson… Ma langue me pique 😅 En accompagnement, il y avait des petits pois, j’ai mangé des meilleurs petits pois en conserve en France … sans goût, vraiment pas ouf. Je ne comprends pas ce que les personnes trouvent à cette adresse, je m’y suis rendu suite aux avis positifs, et c’est un des seuls restaurants dans la zone … à fuir

We've been to Hectors a few times, and again, they didn't dissapoint. How can you get a bacon and brie pannini with chips so perfect?! Well, I recommend you go and find out. Really friendly staff, and lovely homebaked cakes too.

Another classy joint in Kyle that does not engage in the usual - gossip nonsense. The food is A1, the coffee is great; and even better with a dash of brandy 😁. You can’t help yourself, it is one of those places. Clean, well presented, great staff, just class.

Wow. 4 weeks traveling through the UK and this is the first and only place I didn't like. The "food" was disgusting, the staff unfriendly, the room shady, the toilets dirty. No charme at all. The "potato salad" was just potato and spring onions drenched in mayonnaise without any flavor - same recipe for the "cole slaw": cale in mayonnaise. The chutneys which came with the cheese were more like a vinegar spread, as if they forgot the sugar in it. All in all: It was disgusting and not worth a single penny. I regret going there, despite having been warned by some comments already.

We had a tasty Lunch from this cafe. The ambience is lovely here and I don't have words to describe the taste of the food items. The cheeseburger and the chicken roast were yummy, and anyone visiting this cafe should never miss them. We also had the tasty Bothi Millionaire's Sundae in the end. The satisfaction level after having the food is 💯. Customer service is exceptional here. The washrooms are a bit small but that's not at all a drawback. The cafe can get very busy during the afternoons.

I know it might not look like from outside but these restaurant it's must visit a place when in area and hungry. Food is absolutely delicious, prices are very affordable and stuff super friendly . Portions are big and even my husband, who is very fussy, finally tried haggis and loves it. Definitely will visit again when around.

Didn’t eat in the cafe but did rent the lovely flat upstairs. Clean, very comfortable and spacious for a family of four. Beautiful views across the water. I left my bag behind in a cupboard when we left and the owners kindly posted it out to me (and wouldn’t accept payment for posting) . We loved staying here and hope to return in summer when weather is better. Highly recommend. We also had nice pizza and fish and chips from Hector’s takeaway.

It's a lovely little place to stop and enjoy some lovely, traditional food. The menu was exactly what we look for, and the food was wonderful too. It was busy when we arrived but we were still looked after with a smile and warm welcome.

Great place. We had the full cooked breakfast that was lovely and it has obviously been done up with love. The service was a little slow but the staff were lovely so that made up for it.

Must say the food from this cafe is absolutely splendid, the staff are friendly and respectful and the service is great, me and my family visited 3 times as the fish and chips are amazing, and my sons absolutely loved the burgers and the chicken nuggets. Many thanks to the staff of the Hector's Bothy.

old fave in kyle - always reliable

We visited on a Friday afternoon in November as everything else in the town seemed closed. There is a nice view out to the harbour but the interior is quite tired and old fashioned. I must say that the service was great: friendly and efficient. However, our cakes were underwhelming - we didn't finish the carrot one - and I felt that these were overpriced for the quality. The Drambuie coffees were very tasty, though. If you know what to expect then this could be a convenient stop on your way to Skye.

Lovely place, called in on two occasions, the first time two hours after breakfast serving finished but the chef cooked it for us anyway 😋 excellent food (plenty of it) and will definitely return for the burgers which looked amazing, highly recommend 👍🏻

Café très agréable, très cosy. Possibilité de prendre à emporter ou de manger sur place. Les deux serveuses sont très gentilles ! Les prix sont très abordables par rapport à ce qui se fait dans le pays :) La nourriture est bonne et copieuse ! Il y a un parking public juste en face. Une belle pause dans ce café ! 🤗

We visited this little gem on our way in to Skye at the beginning of the week and on our way out of Skye at the end of the week. Cannot fault the food, the breakfast on our way home was great value and absolutely delicious, the Halloween decorations were brilliant too! .. blinds would be great in the window for when it is sunny as we did get rather warm when eating our lunch but that was our only downside. The staff were lovely and the food was brilliant, we can highly recommend.

Aangezien dit het enige geopende café was, zijn we hier gaan lunchen. Bediening zeer onvriendelijk. Kwamen elke minuut kijken of je al klaar was met eten. Ze wilden duidelijk gaan sluiten. Tosti was ok, ploughmans lunch ok.

We've visited here a few times years ago but not since the pandemic; thankfully, it is still just as nice as it always was. We were here for lunch on a sunny Saturday and although it was busy we were seated quickly and didn't have to wait long for our food. All of us really enjoyed our meals, which were a pork & chorizo burger, a spicy bean burger, and a jacket potato with cheese. There's lots of choice on the menu and it was all really tasty with generous portions. Reasonably priced, too. There's a good amount of seating inside (although it's clearly popular, so may be worth booking if you're coming a long way) and on dry/warm days there's also some tables outside. We'll definitely be back again next time we're in the area.
