The Drouthy Cobbler in Moray

Went late on a Saturday for a few beers, the bar wasnt too busy and the staff were friendly. Heated smoking area outside and nice relaxed atmosphere inside. Would go again.

Nice food, great drinks and good service. My only complaint is that it is always so cold in here. Shame,otherwise I would gave given it 5 stars.

Quiet Sunday visiting heritage sites led us into Elgin and a quick check of Google maps showed the Drouthy Cobbler was open, we turned up without booking and were welcomed by the young waitress. The place is very nicely laid out and we quickly ordered, roast beef with all the trimmings for my wife and a fry up for me, the food didn't take long and we tucked in. Quality of the food was great, no complaints and not too much on the plate leaving room for a pudding. Great place and great food, nice ambiance so no complaints from this happy diner.

I'm not going to lie, my memory of this visit was limited due to the copious amount of drinks consumed throughout the day! This was not my first 'rodeo' in here and I've given mixed reviews on it in the past.Fortunately, there were almost no complaints this time. Fair enough, it was quiet inside and there was a bit of a delay with our food order. However, we were offered free pints as an apology (great gesture) and when the food arrived, well, wow! I don't know if it was a mixture of a few things but I've got to say, this 'Beef Burger' was on a different level! This I will remember - compliments to the Chef.Although slightly worse for wear myself, this visit was decent and a fine end to a good day out with my workmates.

Stopped in past for a few drinks with friends after being out for a meal. Great selection of wines spirits and ales to choose from but rather expensive. Good atmosphere and ambience.

Brilliant spot. Easily missed off the high street but well worth the visit. Great selection of food and good coffee too. Could do a bigger ale selection but that's just me being picky! Overall fantastic pub/cafe with a friendly vibe. Oh, and dog friendly!

This is the place to meet old and new friends. The friendly staff are always willing and able to help. The menu is as good as it gets. The atmosphere and ambience lend the Drouthy Cobbler to all tastes. I visit here most weeks if only for a solo coffee or beer, or with friends to chat.

Our first visit to this establishment, located up a quaint lane, near the centre of the city.On entry we found a cosy bar/restaurant, with a good ambience. All clean and tidy, with helpful staff.The negative points were that the menu did not show all the prices relating to the choices on offer, which isn't good. We had to ask/query/clarify about this. The toilets are upstairs and not well sign posted downstairs. The disabled toilet downstairs was locked.Our meals were excellent. My wife's macaroni was the best ever she stated. My beef burger and hand cut chips were bang on too (even though very expensive at £13!). The negative points, plus the expense, knock the rating down. If it were for the food alone, it would rate at excellent.

Fantastic staff all very friendly. My favourite bar in Elgin, great food amazing choices of cocktails and a brilliant atmosphere.

This pub is off the main street and is a quaint place to grab a beverage or enjoy the pub fare. The staff was friendly and the service was good.

This is a small pub type restaurant with very good food. Reservations recommended as appeared popular as an after work gathering place. Tables both indoors and outside. Casual. Off High Street down a small alley with a stone arch at the entrance to the alley.

The drouthy is a smart, cosy local bar with a good selection of drinks. The food is tasty but maybe a tad expensive. Decor is very traditional and would be a bit for tourists.

Tucked away off the main street. Lovely atmosphere with outdoor and indoor seating. Tonnes of choice for drinks but didn't eat here. Some torn upholstery.

Worth a visit, nice wee pub with specialty drinks and food on offer but be prepared to pay for it. Possibly one of the most expensive pubs in Elgin.

Went to this pub as it said it had local craft beers. Didn’t see any on display so had the Belhaven. Whilst sitting drinking my very nice beer, I noticed two pumps at the side of the bar with local ales. Not exactly obvious nor mentioned by the staff. Bit annoyed. Anyway, I enjoyed my pint, the staff were very pleasant but the bar area is neither cozy nor inviting actually being a bit cold so I won’t be rushing back.

Not family friendly. No facilities or portions for young children. Service very slow considering we were first in. people getting served first after we were seated. Had to ask for our drinks. Waited 30 minutes for cold food. Steak sandwich was too raw for my tastes. Wasnt asked how it should be cooked. Plates not wiped before service looked grubby. Chips were good.

Located down a “close” this restaurant was recommended by out B&B; hostess, and it was very good. Not a Michelin Star, but just good grub! Reasonable prices and cozy atmosphere. Definitely recommend!

Wow. Found this place down a side alley and dropped in for a quick drink. Real ales on tap and the food menu was exciting. Had an early dinner and it did not disappoint. Pork Belly starter and then Mussells in white wine and garlic and a veggie burger for my wife. Some of the best food of our Uk trip so far.

Our B and B hosts recommended this pub for it’s food and friendly atmosphere. They were absolutely right - good service from a limited but tasty menu. We ate there on two of our three night stay in Elgin - certainly recommend.

Visited on a busy Saturday night. Lots of atmosphere and activity. If we hadn’t booked, there is no way that we would have got a table for dinner. Limited menu and wine list but the food was tasty.

Di passaggio durante il nostro tour in Scozia ci siamo fermati ad Elgin e un po’ nascosto dalla via principale abbiamo trovato questo locale molto carino.

I came for dinner with family, slightly reluctantly as the previous couple of visits i felt the food had gone down hill, which makes me grudge the high priced drinks. I was disappointed the food was very average, People do not mind paying extra for quality, this is not a certain here. I get the feeling the problem is in the kitchen, as the front of house staff are good and the decor is attractive. Elgin’s centre is not blessed with a wide selection of good eateries and so the Drouthy remains quite busy, despite the high price tag. Disappointing.

Maeby the best place in town because the atmosphere is great, the food is delicious. We came back two times. The narrow street makes it special. Great pleace!

Locale carino, in una vietata vicinissimo alla piazza principale. In ogni caso è l’unico aperto in centro cittadina che sembra disabitato. Locale carino, è un pub chic. Mangiato bene, ottimo hamburger è buono lo stufato di agnello anche se un po’ speziato. L’angus sarebbe stato buono ma me lo hanno portato tiepido. Personale gentile

Went for a meal to the drouthy cobbler and the meal was terrible I had chicken bun and so did my brother and wasn’t good my mum had roast beef and it was tuf as old boots he couldn’t even eat it wouldn’t go there again for a meal

Nos dijeron que teníamos que esperar unos 10 minutos y estuvimos esperando una hora por el primer plato. En traernos el segundo plato tardaron una media hora desde que se llevaron el primero. Teniendo en cuenta que apenas había gente y que todo lo que elegimos era del menú que tenían preparado...es una vergüenza!

Отличное место. Зашли пообедать, и результат превзошел все ожидания. Прекрасная кухня, время ожидания заказа, несколько дольше обычного, но бар, с большим выбором пива, джина, и конечно же виски , скрашивает это, а результат великолепен. Очень, очень вкусно. В добавление очень дружелюбный ресторан. Рекомендую от всей души!!!

Cena veramente buona. Locale molto carino, con tavoli all'aperto, in una vicolo nascosto. Bistecche di qualità cotte alla brace, ampia varietà di birre, camerieri/e giovani e cordiali. Grazie

Had booked a table for two and when two other people wanted to join us, they were able to change the booking with only a few hours notice. Place was full. Limited menu for drinks and food but everything at our table was good.

We stopped here in our way to Inverness. We founf it crossing below some wall archs in a narrow street. The place is copy, clean and well-decorated. The food is ok and service quico and kind.

Was looking for a nice evening meal but unfortunately I went here. The Cullen skink was like porridge. No chucks of fish or potatoes and very bland and tasteless. My £30 steak was full of undercooked fat and sinues to the point that I couldn’t eat it. £60 wasted

A fabulous meal for two. For starters we began with scallops & haggis followed by sirloin & sea bass, disappointed they had run out of mussels but the sea bass was sublime. Turned out our belly was not as large as our eyes & we should of shared our cheese course rather than indulging in one each.

We chose this pub due to the star rating and locals telling us that this was dog friendly and a good place to eat and drink. We arrived after heavy rain and were told that the only dog friendly part of the premises was on the wooden tables outside, which were still wet and had not been dried off. It was fairly chilly but we decided to go in despite this, they did eventually put the outdoor heater on for us. We asked if the pub is dog friendly and were told it was not, we then asked if we could sit outside and they said yes. They were not particularly helpful or welcoming. The beer was really nice, but the food was expensive for the portion size but the quality was good. Good if you are not greedy like myself and my husband lol But not great for dog friendly dining.

Questo pub è un tesoro nascosto da ricercare in un vicolo del centro. Locale caratteristico e accogliente, servizio abbastanza veloce ma soprattutto carne di ottima qualità e ampia scelta di birre.

Molto quotato, pub ristorante, molto più pub. Ambiente giovane e gradevole. Abbiamo mangiato bene e bevuto meglio. Per fortuna eravamo andati a piedi da hotel... Qui non si scherza. Ci siamo capiti male con la cameriera che prima ci ha portato piatto ma non lo ha lasciato poi 10 minuti di attesa per riaverlo.... Morale non lo hanno messo nel conto. Non da tutti.

This is a cute little bar down a nice alleyway. We just had some wine and beer and some snacks. It was nice that they had small snacks for £3-5 to go with our drinks. We had bread and oil, olives and haggis balls. All very tasty. Good selection of local beers in bottles. Beers on tap available too. Clean elegant stemware for the wine.

Musste sehr lange warten bis ich bedient wurde. Service hat keinen Uberblick, auch an anderen Tischen herrschte Chaos. Viel los war aber nicht. Die Portionen beim Essen sind sehr klein, sehr teuer. Der Burger war bereits kalt als ich den bekam.

we found this place from the landlady at guest house. After a short walk into town it was tucked away up an alley. What a little gem.

Nous avons très bien mangé. Panse farcie (super) boeuf gratin navet carotte fondant, gateau au chocolat avec glace. Personnel très avenant et agréable

Besökte puben en lördag kväll. Lite väl högljudd nivå som blev bättre när ett sällskapet gick. God mat med bra kvalité och trevlig personal. Kommer gärna dit igen.

The bar is warm and friendly, nice choice of drinks, exquisite cocktails and excellent food. Great for a night out with friends.

Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding on Sunday was excellent great food and atmosphere would recommend to any visitor especially in summer nice place to sit outside.

One wonders, is there ever an evening which isn’t busy in The Drouthy Cobbler?😀 Even on coming in with eight friends the service was good and quick. Another plus is regional, seasonal food well prepared. Can easily see myself there again.🙂

Rasch wurden wir zu sechst freundlich bedient. Die Karte ist gleichzeitig übersichtlich und abwechslungsreich (nicht nur Pub-Essen). Absolut empfehlenswert!

Nice place to stop for a pint or some dinner. Staff was friendly and food was served very quickly. Everything we ordered was delicious.

Tip: choose bread for the sandwich. The regular white one was a little bland I guess but over all it was good, the personnel looks good too ;)

Es war nicht schlecht, aber die super Bewertungen, die wir vorher gelesen haben, entsprachen nicht unserem Eindruck. Das Essen war gut, aber nichts besonderes und die Atmosphäre war sehr laut! Wir waren am nächsten Tag eher nicht nochmal dorthin gegangen.

We visited this pub 3 times during our one week stay in Elgin. If anyone wants to go there before 5, check the website as the food they offer can be different before and after 5. on weekends, they are open longer hours. We only reserved a table once, as it can get busy on the weekend, but the place has a good online reservation page, so booking was quick. The staff is really friendly and professional. There is a good selection of drinks including whisky. The food is the best, we tried the risotto, fish and chips, chicken wings, steak, sticky toffee, they were all tasty and good quality meals. There is good selection for vegans and vegetarians.

Mye rot med bestillinger, klarer ikke å levere drikke bestilt før mat, når maten endelig kommer, får vi vordrink, men ikke den drikken vi bestilte til maten! Laaang ventetid både på mat og drikke. Anbefales ikke!

Gute Getränke und toller Service. Essen ist wie in Schottland üblich. Man sitzt drinnen wie draußen sehr schön und kann den Abend ausklingen lassen. Draußen mit Heizstrahlern......

Here for work and looking for a pub dinner. The atmosphere is informal and friendly and we were greeted and seated quickly. The food a high quality pub grub with the classics with a Scottish twist. I had the haggis and it was great. The cost was reflective of the quality of the food, so all in all, I would recommend this place for a nice dinner at the end of the evening.

Eigentlich waren wir nur hier, da unser Wunschtürke keinen Tisch mehr frei hatte und dann das: ein junges, ambitioniertes Team, welches das klassische Pub-Konzept auf ein nächstes Level hebt. Mit Marktkarte und frischen Gerichten, aufmerksamen Service, modernen Cocktails, gutem Kaffee und tollem Ambiente. Dazu mehr als moderate Preise. Hier müsst ihr her!

We had a great evening with family and friends.....very good food and very helpful staff. We had booked in advance,which was good.

An entirely different experience to that I encountered at Christmas. I based my visit on how good that night was - unfortunately, this was one to forget.

We attended a wedding reception upstairs. The food was superb especially the filet and the haggis appetizer. The bartenders that served our group were friendly and made the evening entertaining a bunch of Americans in rented kilts special!

Would definitely recommend heading here in Elgin - tasty, well presented food. Lovely service & reasonably priced. Tucked away from the main high street.

My husband and I along with my sister and her partner came to the Drouthy Cobbler for dinner after reading the great reviews and needless to say, we weren’t disappointed. I had a fish and chips, fish was fresh and loved the hand cut chips. Sticky toffee pudding was amazing! Our server who we didn’t get the name of (glasses, beard and tattoos) was extremely attentive and friendly but not too overbearing. Thank you!

A lovely place for lunch. The small bites were great, especially the haggis bites and sausage roll! It was a little bit hard to find, but well worth it.

Admittedly, there are very slim pickings locally when it comes to finding a nice place to have a quiet, well-prepared drink, but the Drouthy is amazing. Polite, knowledgeable staff and really nice drinks. I only wish it was a little bigger!

We had been told about the Drouthy Cobbler and decided to visit for pre-dinner drinks as we had a table booked elsewhere for 1930.

There wasn't a long wait on food and when it came it was excellent, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was great

Booked a table for 2 on St Valentines day. First time we had enjoyed food from the drouthy, we normally stop in for a few drinks and have enjoyed comedy nights upstairs before.

Excellent cafe bar with local beer, spirits and menu. Great atmosphere in the bar and in the upstairs function room. Good mix of performances

Great range of drinks at the bar and cocktail list but must be the most expensive in elgin. Staff quite knowledgeable about the brands so I guess you get what you pay for. More a relaxed enjoyable drink than where you would spend a whole evening

A few workmates had worked tirelessly planning a private Christmas party for our section. The place of choice was the ‘Drouthy’ and it was terrific!

Was looking forward to a decent restaurant to dine in, turned up for a drink and felt like I’d entered a youth club/Nandos style vibe. Whist the waiting staff seemed busy the bar staff seemed happy to guzzle the profits with a share going to their pals without a let or hinderance going to their restaurant patrons. Overpriced nonsense.

Having seen good ratings on trip advisor we made a reservation to eat here. To check the place out the night before we popped in for a drink.

My partner and I have always wanted to try the Drouthy Cobbler as it looks so cosy and welcoming. Our first time there we waiting 45 minutes for our food and had to remind the servers that we had ordered drinks. Our drinks came and the apologised and said something along the lines of the Kitchen never received our order and so would have to start cooking from scratch. We thought we'd leave it for another time and left.

The Drouthy has a good range of entertainment, including a monthly comedy night with pretty decent comedians.

Great drinks menu and food menu, fantastic atmosphere cosy and welcoming. It's a little gem in Elgin and love going there.

My brother and I had a wonderful meal and evenings entertainment here yesterday. Apparently they have a Comedy evening on the last Wednesday of every month so we stayed after our meal to enjoy. The food and atmosphere was great, and the 3 comedians we saw were very funny, really enjoyable experience and when next visiting family will be sure to return. Thanks for the laughs xx.

Visited a few months ago to catch up with an old friend.

Visited here a few times now. Food is always delicious, bit more pricier than other local places you could visit but the price reflects the quality. Cocktails are delicious and the place has a great atmosphere especially on an evening when they light the candles. Would 100% recommend here for nice meal with a partner or with small group of friends.

Unless you're arriving pretty late you should book a table or be prepared to wait. We didn't book, so had to wait, but it was worth it. The menu was full of tasty treats and there was a good selection of beverages including real ales. Nice atmosphere and friendy attentive staff. Worth a visit.

The place is tucked in the narrow side street which adds a lot of charm to it. Old place, thick walls ....definitely fits to those who likes hystory.

By took me here with 3 of his work colleagues for end of week drinks. In town down a close and easy to miss. I had some Strathspey beer. The new waitress had some nice foot tattoos. Then we moved on just as the subdued lighting came on . Friday night after all :)

Great food helpful staff. Was very busy and we did feel pressured a little at first by the staff to take our food orders.. but other than that the food quality and service was excellent

This used to be one of the few places in Elgin that you could get a good meal ... not sure what happened on our most recent visit hopefully this was just a glitch and it will soon return to its normal great service !

I had dinner here with friends last Sunday evening. The restaurant was cold and I needed my jacket on the whole time. Staff were very friendly and my meal was very tasty however we waited a long time for our meal and they were lukewarm when they arrived. Hence only 2 1/2 stars

Visited here on the back of trip advisor reviews with my husband and two kids. after being seated we realised its not really suitable for kids as there is not a kids menu, however, we were advised that any of the meals could be half portioned for them. We chose fish and chips and sausage and mash for the kids, fair to say they were decent portions but our kids are 5 & 8 so they don’t eat loads. Anyway when the bill came we only got 30% off of full price, very disappointed as it made it a very expensive meal as the full price menu items are approx £14. We were £55 for 4 main courses and a coke, and a pint lager.
