Fiddlers Highland Restaurant & Cafe Bar in Highland

Visited in September 2024 whilst on holiday, we couldn’t take dogs inside (fair enough) but we then asked if we could eat outside and was told no, asked if we could just get a drink outside and was also told no. What’s the point in putting tables outside? Terrible hospitality - I wouldn’t bother giving them your money, let alone my own.

Had a lovely lunch at Fiddlers, I would suggest booking as lots of people were turned away. Very popular with tourists. Enjoyed a delicious venison chilli, my husband had the burger (apparently the best he’s had for a while!). Dogs are welcome but outside only, they have umbrellas but if it’s raining it might not be enjoyable.

We intended to get to Fiddlers for lunch but got back into town later than expected. With a couple of minutes before the kitchen closed, we were lucky to be the last table for service. Greeted warmly, we were taken to a quiet table down the side next to lots of knick knacks and pictures. As the only whiskey lover, I could see the extensive list was well thought out, pairing each meal with its own individual whiskey. Unfortunately I was driving so I wasn't able to test it out but there was a vast selection - something for everyone! We quickly ordered; whiskey salmon, potatoes and salad for me, venison and bacon chilli for my husband. The salmon was excellent, cooked perfectly. The potatoes were salted and went well with the dressing the chef prepared. The salad was light and delicious (not just coleslaw like other places we have tried this holiday!) The venison chilli was lighter than expected, full of flavour and served with cheese, sour cream and oven cut chips. The service was impeccable, the team there running a tight ship with a busy service. Drumnadrochit is quite a touristy area so it would be easy to cart out the normal burgers and chips (which they still do) but I would recommend Fiddlers to anyone looking for a high quality meal at a fair price. Two excellent mains, a pint and an apple juice for £53 including service was very fair. Thank you for serving us so late in the day and making my birthday special after a morning out in the hills.

Well what can I say the fish and chip shack that’s part of the Fiddlers at Loch Ness are the best fish and chips we’ve had as a family for a long time would highly recommend

We were driving towards Iverness and our family was very hungry for dinner. Many restaurants were closed and we figured we would have to wait until we arrived in the city. We passed Fiddlers and decided to turn around. So glad we did! It seemed busy inside but we got a table rather quickly. Service was very friendly (friendliest we’ve had since being in Scotland) and the food was amazing! So fresh! At first, the menu seemed a little strange to our American family:). But we all agreed it was the best meal we’d had. I got the salmon with the smoked cheddar sauce. Wow! I would order it again. For dessert, the sticky toffee pudding was out of this world. Again, fresh and definitely homemade. We remarked as a family that if we were in the area again, we would definitely stop by for a meal.

We were recommended this restaurant by our B&B host who made the booking for us and we were not disappointed. A lovely traditional pub/restaurant with easy parking. A warm welcome by the young staff who were friendly, smiling and attentive throughout our meal. The food was excellent, well presented and well priced. There are hundreds of single malt whiskies on display ranging in price.

We quite liked the food though mine arrived tepid and served on a cold plate. We noted there was no choice for veggies/vegans so it was a good job our our friends were not with us. We felt it was very overpriced considering the ambience. This was the worst part in a way as we were packed in like sardines. For the kind of money they want they need a much better ambience and better facilities. Probably wouldn't go back or recommend.

We had booked a table for dinner (by e-mail) and we were definitely not disappointed. Great atmosphere at this traditional place. We had excellent rib-eye steaks, really tender and tasty, wonderful flavour from char-grill. Good selection of wine and beer on tap. Also a very nice dessert (whisky sponge).

Just superb! Great food and great service. The staff were prompt and friendly, the soup and the haggis delicious, not to mention the option of a dram with some courses.

This pub-like venue masquerades as an up-scale restaurant with high prices and nouvelle cuisine style portions. I told the waitress at the end that I felt thoroughly ripped-off. I went for their specials - smoked venison then a venison stroganoff. The £12 starter consisted of 4 small (bite-size) oatmeal biscuits with a sliver of smoked venison on each coupled with obligatory salad leaves to fill the plate out. The £28 stroganoff fared little better. Whilst the venison portions were passable, the size of mash and red cabbage accompanying was utterly paltry. (I was on a walking holiday on my own and I sent a photo to my wife who asked whether this was the starter!). It's true that venison isn't cheap, but I'd been to other places in the area on my holiday that didn't charge these prices. And on my way out, I noticed a goat cheese salad and a smoked salmon dish being delivered that both looked equally miniscule. The service was reasonable if a little in your face as I got the impression that they were keen to make sure I vacated the table in the allotted 90-minutes so they could rip-off another patron. The whole thing felt like they were chasing tourist cash (there's a lot of tourists in this village), but they need to be aware that they aren't the only eatery here. I only wish I'd had the gumption to send the dish back before I started it! Disgraceful!

Fantastic food, great service. There was a specials menu as well as the main menu. We chose from both. Wee drams offered with some of the courses, perfect Scottish theme. Would recommend for sure.

We booked a table for our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids aged 15 and 6) for dinner whilst staying in the area in the Easter holidays. Staff very friendly on the phone taking our booking and confirming they have a children’s menu. We arrived and were greeted warmly and shown to our table by the window. We hadn’t seen the menu in advance, but there was something for all of us to enjoy! My youngest had a chicken Caesar salad from the kids menu which he confirmed was delicious. My eldest son had the Highlander chicken which was beautifully presented and equally delicious. My husband had the venison casserole which he said was one of the best meals he’s ever had! I opted for the rib eye steak which was cooked to perfection and served with the most delicious pepper sauce, grilled tomatoes, onion rings, mushrooms and chips. For dessert my youngest had ice cream which was included with the kids menu and we shared a whisky sponge and chocolate brownie with cherry sauce. We could not fault the meal at all, it was outstanding. The service was also exceptional. Plenty of whiskies on offer too if that’s your thing. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Fiddlers if you’re in the area. Thank you!

Absolutely fantastic local find! It was so good we ate here twice. All four of our group wanted different experiences and we all got them here. From healthy salmon, to amazing haggis and a great steak, they had it all. True Scottish Highland dining in a warm and welcoming Scottish inn.

It's with a heavy heart I have given Fiddlers a poor rating. It isn't for the quality or the service received. It's not even for the value for money. The reason I've given a poor rating is simple. Myself and my family have been avid fans and visitors to Fiddlers for over 20 years. We all love it and would highly recommend it. However, on this visit we were staying over 90 minutes drive away,but checked the website,which said Fiddlers was open. We drove all that way only to find it was closed! I rang whilst outsideas I thought maybe it didn't open until 7pm. Eventually the phone switched to a voicemail which said Fiddlers was closed untill March 2024. Well, it IS March 2024! But when looking through the window it was clear by all the plastic covers over the furnature that whenever in March it was to be open it most definitely wasn't open. So unfortunately we had made a 3 hour round trip for nothing. Lesson learned, always call before you go and don't rely on the website. Of course this won't stop us from returning, but for Fiddlers, please please make sure you update your website and put the date of opening on.

Booked here after reading the reviews and was absolutely delighted we did. The salmon & prawn starter were delightful & venison main was delicious. I tried a couple of whiskeys and although I'm not a big drinker of whiskey both were nice and smooth. The staff were happy to accommodate our two young children with the dishes they chose and great throughout. This was our last meal of a 4 night stay and it's a shame as we would've booked earlier in the week if we'd had known it would be so good.

An amazing bar/ restaurant. Went with the family while on holiday. The staff were brilliant and very friendly. The food was amazing and the selection of whisky huge!!! Whisky pairings available with all courses and also with the beers, which was really interesting! Would highly recommend. Definitely best to book in advance, we were very lucky to get a table as a walk in.

Excellent food. And if you've never had haggis (like us) but want to try it, this is the place to try it (and it's actually delicious). The people were friendly and accommodating. It's recommended that you book in advance. I concur. I will say that we did not and they were able to fit us in. I suspect this is because of the time of year. And if you're a scotch lover...try not to faint when you walk in. But absolutely *do* walk in!

had a great dinner here! amazing atmosphere and super friendly staff. one of the dishes was not available, however the waiter was truly lovely and suggested us a perfect alternative that we really liked. a huge strength of this place is that on the menu every dish is paired with the best whisky to order along with it, helping you to try the perfect choice out of the wide variety that they offer. prices are fair, considering the great quality of the food and drinks. would come back again and definitely recommend!

The fish and scampi from the van in front of the restaurant were absolutely delicious! You can also sit inside when ordering from the van which is a bonus on a cold day.
