The best restaurants serving British food in Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh and Lothian

Myself and a friend tried to visit for lunch last Wednesday 30th April. We had my toddler and a Corgi with us and asked to sit inside. Multiple tables were free but the server told us there was no room for the buggy. I replied "no worries I can put it outside" (it’s a very compact stroller) to which I was told there was no room, there was. No apologies or politeness, nor an explanation as to why none of the empty tables was suitable for us. We were just told to scan a code and come back later. needless to say we didn't.

Después de haber visto la calle Gile's Coffee Shop que aparece en el cuento "The Umbrella Man" (uno de los "Cuentos de lo Inesperado" de Roald Dahl en la televisión Sky Arts) me preguntaba si se trata de la misma tienda. Parece ser el único que puedo encontrar.

Lovely spot. Great service, lovely selection of food and drinks and really nice atmosphere. Would definitely come back!

Some of our party was really cold because it was right under the air conditioning unit but the staff were more than happy to turn it off. It probably helped that we were there to the end of the afternoon and it has cooled down a lot anyway. Food was great as always

I used to do the karaoke in this wee gem of a place. Not sure if it's still open as I'm sure i seen a lease sign up at front of it 🤔

At a pretty nice crossroads. Right next to it there is a small street that leads to Greyfriars Cemetery, a “quiet and slippery” place if it has rained.

Excellent as always, lovely Easter dinner and friendly considerate staff especially Donna who took great care of us. Thanks again.

Went there for breakfast. Food was very bad and tasteless, I couldn't finish the coffee so bad it was. But the prices were 1.5 higher than Edinburgh. Pretty disgusting and it is a tourist trap

had couple of drinks very amazing service by shanmukh he suggested few cocktails which was so tasty will be back

Went for Sunday brunch. Wrong dish served, the substitute contained different ingredients from what was on the menu. Pancakes tasted of bicarbonate soda.. Desserts menu requested, but never arrived. Staff were clearly not interested. Just asked for a bill and left. Such a shame, as a beautiful venue. Could have been so much better, if the owners & staff cared more about the customers.

This is the real deal. My favourite restaurant in the world.

Great drinks! Quite a unique American diner vibe, selling breakfasts all day as well as burgers etc. Martin is a delight! Outdoor space for people watching too. Drink pictures their new Summer slushie, delicious.

We had a lovely breakfast at the hotel. We did not stay in the rooms although perhaps during our next visit we will. The service was excellent. The food was delicious and everyone was very friendly.
