Lovely café. Waffles are amazing!!!

We took great pleasure in having breakfast at your establishment! The setting is very friendly with beautiful decoration, the products served were excellent and above all the service was extremely high quality with pleasant and attentive staff. I highly recommend!!!

Here's the thing. If you're in Edinburgh and you don't go to Saint Giles Cafe and try the Chocolate Clementine Torte then why did you even come to Scotland? Go here and treat yourself. You'll thank me. It's unbelievable.

Really lovely little cafe just off the Royal Mile. Decor is nice and classic, and not too large to be busy or crowded. Food was very tasty. Recommend the toasted brie and bacon sandwich as toasted fully. Coffee also very tasty. Would recommend for breakfast, brunch and lunch.

Great place a stone's throw from Saint Gilles Cathedral. Very welcoming waitresses and very good quality food, especially the scones!

Racist cafe manager refused to serve

Sat outside, nice lively location. Very friendly staff. Some fear of the local feathered population (seagulls), but staff managed to scare them away. Great food!

I found the cafe has a good ambience and good food, but they didn't know how to make a pot of tea - placing a plastic (non biodegradable) tea bag alongside the tea pot rather than in the pot. Service was slow considering the number of staff hence it was pricey.

Would highly recommend getting the Edinburgh Mist (kind of resembles a london fog drink). The nutella waffle was a nice afternoon snack. The staff were very attentive and nice. The only tip for improvement I can give is to make the seating a bit more comfortable :)

Even though it was very busy, the service was courteous and friendly. I was able to get the chai latte with oat milk upon request and the vegan chocolate clementine cake was super delicious :)

It suddenly rained a lot so I went! Overall, an okay cafe! A cafe with no major drawbacks

They said they couldn’t give us take away food as soon as we walked in, which was ok, as we were there for only take away coffee anyway. But then the barista decided he cannot even do “to-go” coffees for us because the kitchen is backed up. This is a first.

A very nice place for a quick bite to eat between 2 visits to Edinburgh. Tasty vegetable quiches served hot by very friendly young staff. A very pleasant break that we recommend without reservation.

Great atmosphere and the owner, a lovely lady came out of her way to ensure we were enjoying our rest and superb coffees. We took our 9 month old Cocker spaniel in too and she was straight away provided with her own water bowl. Well worth a visit just off the Golden Mile

Cute spot with great service. We had the most delicious hot chocolate and heated milk drink. Highly recommend for a nice break mid-morning or mid-afternoon just check closing times.

Best cappuccino I've had in a long time

Delayed our order by 30 min when everyone around was served had to find out what happened. They forgot our order

Absolutely hands down one of the best burgers I have tasted, an I’ve tasted a lot over my 58yrs. Service was fantastic, nothing was too much bother. My friends from Germany agree 100% with me. Our waitress also checked for any dietary requests, any allergies.

We were in the small cafe on a rainy day. We liked it, we got a nice little table, cafe, tea and cake were very good and the price was fair. If I'm in the area again I'll go there again

First time using this Cafe, I found it delightful the staff were very friendly I had a BLT Ciabatta with salad, which was delicious The coffee was delicious but the coffee cups were a bit small side but I will certainly return as I was very impressed

A beautiful quirky cafe centrally located. Lovely ciabattas and the soup was divine. Lots of vegetarian choice. Bottles local ales and even hot toddies for rainy days. Very attentive staff. Take cash for tips.

What an incredible place to have breakfast or lunch. Everyone is really kind and the Edinburgh Mist Tea is delicious. Always a nice and warm place to come back.

Good place to have a quiet breakfast. A few meters from the Cathedral. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the waitress who served us was very friendly. The coffee is somewhat expensive, like in the rest of the center, but the toasts were generous in quantity. Of course, we cost about €8 per person. I tried the Bacon Roll, which was nothing more than a bacon sandwich, but it was delicious.

Absolutely lovely cafe! Food and coffee is great and cozy atmosphere, but the service is outstanding! Staff are so nice and accommodating, extremely friendly and willing to take time to help you out. Will definitely be returning whenever near the castle. 10/10

Few things, if you can catch it open you're in luck. We were here 8 days and only once caught it open. Signs says daily open at 9:30am and no listed closing time. We found this time not accurate. The good news is that if it's open... the good and service are swell. The best waffle I've ever had. They call it the house special. I've attached a photo of menu description. Service is exceptional fast because it's a small place. Coffee was fresh and hits the spot. Croissants are beautifully flakey and buttery.

A good place for a coffee it could be much better.

Worst coffee I’ve had in a very long time. Served in a tiny cup with a stale scone which was toasted. I wasn’t the only customer to complain but the staff were completely indifferent. I’ve been coming here since it was café Florentine and love the ambiance but we left to get a decent coffee down the road and won’t be back.

It was okay. Food was good, croissants with cheese and ham/tomato were tasty. However drinks slightly let this down with the coffee being slightly burnt tasting, little to no crema. Atmosphere was fine nothing special. Would've expected slightly better from somewhere just off royal mile. Extra charge for alternative milks.

Careful, their "freshly squeezed orange juice" is from a battle of concentration (but they still charge you the full amount) Apart from that great service and good location.

absolutely lovely staff, good price but portions are kind of small

Tried to eat here an hour before our Mary King's keep tour. We got seated outside and watched 4 other tables get seated and orders taken but we got completely ignored. After waiting over 20 minutes I went inside to order and told them we had to leave for our tour in 30 minutes. Waited an additional 15 for another server to come tell us they hadn't even put in our order yet so we left. Really terrible service. Shame since it looked like a cute spot.

Great food, nice coffee and a nice atmosphere. Service was also nice. We came here early in the morning to have breakfast and it was a lovely experience. I had the bacon waffle, it was a great belgium waffle which was very yummy. The bacon ontop of it was also really nice. The salad on the side was a bit unnecessary though. My mother had a waffle with like greek yogurt and oats ontop (you can see it in one of the photos). The latte was really good as well, the foam very well made and so was the coffee. I would recommend coming here as it isn't that expensive and a lovely place to have breakfast!

Good food great location just off royal mile

Nice little bar on the Royal Mile near St.Giles. Good food and nice staff, the only downside, it is a small cafe so not great for groups.

What attentive and sweet service. We felt so cozy and welcome. Great coffee shop to relax and regaining energy after long walks on the cobblestone. Thanks for the wonderful time.

I wonder why they don't split bills? I've travelled extensively around the world and it's the first time I've ever seen a sign like this. Have they heard of calculators and computers ? It's got the location and that's about it. Dull menu.

"This tastes like it was made by angels!" -4 year old. My two kids loved the croissants and sitting out on the patio. Best chai latte I've had in Scotland. Wonderful service as well!

Very yummy interesting food and hot chocolate was quite nice. However they didn't have WiFi and I only went in there to chill out and get my bearings however couldn't as there was no WiFi but the food drew me in as it was very unique and I'd never had anything like it before. I had the waffle with bacon and brie it was yummy and rich. Service was impeccable fast and efficient lovely people. 👌👍

Their special, St. Giles Waffle that has cheese, syrup and bacon has a unique taste. Loved it and ate it too fast to be able to photograph it beforehand! Their shortbread is also quite enjoyable.

The Americano was good, and a small pastry passable, I was advised that no other food was available. The decor looks tired, staff are doing their best, it definitely needs a revamp. It has an excellent location, its proprietors could do much better!

Wir haben Ciabatta mit Ham&Cheese bestellt - einfach aber super lecker. Das Ambiente ist klasse, klein und gemütlich. Der Service war gut - allerdings gibt es nicht so viele Plätze. Wir standen ca. 5 Minuten an und haben auf einen Tisch gewartet.

The waitress told us the cafè was full when we arrived. I showed an empty table and asked if it was booked. She said no. I then asked why we could not fit for a quick lunch. She looked at our kids and said it was not possible. Absolutely not family friendly and very comfortable with that. What a disgrace...

Friendly attentive staff, quickly got sat, drinks arrived quickly I got the Edinburgh Mist, which is similar to a London Fog and he got a Cappuccino we both liked our drinks, the House Special waffle with melted Brie was interesting and tasty although wish it was a bit crispier. Has a local vibe with big windows.

Ideal for a light bite to eat and a coffee.

Nice little café, not too busy when we arrived but got very busy as we were leaving and for good reason really good atmosphere and reasonably priced food and drink
