Very nice restaurant with very sympathic staff. Service is excellent! Quality of the food super! Was our first visit. We certanly come back.

Great food and exceptional service! We ate at The Huxley three times in Edinburgh, and each time the meals were delicious, the staff were so kind and attentive, and the atmosphere was great. Stuart especially went above and beyond, making us feel very welcomed and at home.

Great atmosphere and lovely tasty food. The Angus burger and fries tasted just perfect. The staff were attentive and quite hot on asking if anyone had allergies…. Well done. I would probably recommend booking a table although I think ….but don’t quote me you could maybe just walk in. It was busy inside but comfortable without feeling crowded. I would definitely recommend and go again.

One of the most delightful spots in all of Edinburgh! In just two days of being in the city, I’ve already visited this café-winery five times — and for good reason. The service is outstanding, and the staff, especially the managers and supervisors, are incredibly welcoming and attentive. It’s a rare find where hospitality, atmosphere, and quality come together so perfectly. Highly recommended, and I’ll definitely be coming back again!

You probably need to add another server. Our server was great, but seemed to be spread thin. We could see our drinks sitting ready at the bar, but it took a bit to get because she had so many tables.

Lovely spot right in the center of Edinburgh with such lovely staff and an extensive menu! Our waitress, Deima, was SO accommodating, upbeat and eager to make sure we had a great lunch experience. I had the superfood salad (add chicken) and my friend had the burger — both pretty good! The s’mores sundae was a fun way to end a lovely meal.

Stopped in for an early breakfast and was pleasantly impressed. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxing, complemented by beautiful views of the surrounding historic architecture. We ordered the Full Scottish, Eggs Benedict, and French Toast—all exceptionally well-prepared and flavorful. The service was friendly and efficient, setting a positive tone for the day ahead. A highly recommended spot for breakfast in the heart of Edinburgh.

The food was very good, but the service while amicable, is very slow. We waited 40 minutes for the food to come out and by the time it did come out, it was already cold.

My daughter ordered a Gluten free burger as she is has coeliac disease. Waited ages for the food. Once arrived she asked for ketchup. That never came. She suspected her burger bun was not gluten free so double checked with the staff, she promised it was Gluten free as she had put it through as that. There was no flag like you normally get and the receipt did not state gluten free. Needless to say my daughter is VERY ill today. Avoid if you are have an allergy.

We arrived at the Huxley’s around 7ish. The restaurant was almost empty like 4-5 tables being served. After waiting for nearly 25-30 min for a small order, it arrived late and cold. It was a bit disappointing as the place was empty and the food wasn’t warm or tasty. The hostess was kind enough to ask to reorder. The reason give was that they were very busy and had multiple checks which seemed absurd. A discounted bill as expected was offered at the end. If we’d ever go back at the Huxley, it would be for their hostess and not the food. Overall not a good experience for me.

During our 5 days in Edinburgh we had breakfast every morning at the Huxleys. The food and the service were exceptional and we would highly recommend a visit. Our favorites were the "Egg Bennies Royale" and the "Smashed Avo on Toast". A big shoutout to our waiter Lewis. He was extremely attentive and kind. Welcoming us every day, remembering our preferences/allergies and offered great recommendations. Generally the whole staff was really engaging and welcoming - exactly the atmosphere you need if you want to start your day. Thanks to the manager Jack, for taking good care about us and ensuring we have a wonderful time. We are def coming back to the Huxleys when we are in Edinburgh.

We went in for beer and potatoes while passing by on a trip to Edinburgh. The service and atmosphere were nice. I recommend cold town beer.

We arrived at the seat we sat outside and the waiter came, really rude and rude, he didn't have the means, then we waited more than 15 minutes and no one came, a table that sat after us was served, a racist and uneducated seat, I went in to ask if there was service outside and they said yes, then the rude waitress told me no and that there is little communication between the staff, really bad!!

Really great service on a visit last Friday! Came to Edinburgh for the weekend started my birthday with a fabulous Scottish brunch had amazing service and two mimosa's chucked in free if charge for my birthday! Waitress was amazing food was delicious it's an absolute yes from me 🤩🥂

We initially thought it was a tourist trap, but we were wrong. The food, service and the view were all very good 😊 I also liked the nice views, as we were seated next to the window.

The best view of Edinburgh in my opinion! Breathtaking view of the castle and the two churches. As for the cuisine, the full Scottish breakfast keeps its promises with a particularly tasty haggis. The dish was hearty, ideal to start a day of visiting! The service is very pleasant, the decoration lends itself well, and the toilets are very clean.

Booked a table because they advertised they were showing the 6 nations. 2 out of the 4 tvs weren't working in the bar, and they had a stupid tree in the middle of the bar blocking the view of 1 of the tvs that was working. Crap

The TVs don’t work properly, so when watching sport there is a juddery and pixelated picture being shown. It would be better to not have TVs at all than frustrate their viewers and advertise that they are showing live sport. Seems very strange that a bar would allow this to exist in their establishment.

Food is good and very interesting tiny burger. Drinks are nice and fancy. Table service is not that satisfied, but it's fine.

We came one day later since we loved the place and the manager didn't accept us in the place, didn't have guts to tell it personally but used the personnel and personnel looked stressfull during the shift. A food and beverage manager should do good business, shouldn't make his personnel nervous rather than cleaning table during the rush hour. Very unprofessional manager and attitude.

Came here for my mum's birthday lunch and we both loved everything - from the lovely view and decorations, to the gorgeous food and serving. It's easily in my top 5 restaurants in Edinburgh! (Shout out to Charlotte and Jack for making my mum's birthday experience all the more special!)

Staff were very attentive and solved any issues we had. Luke was very quick to get a drinks order from me and even quicker making them. Once we had all arrived, Annabelle looked after us and promptly rectified some fries that were too salty. Food was great and cocktails were yummy. Would recommend

Nice place for a drink got seated in a bay style window was a great place to watch the busy city pass by. Service was friendly and welcoming. Only stayed for a few drinks as had dinner reservation upstairs in Kyloe.

Excellent Burger joint in Edinburgh. Great food, excellent service and a lovely atmosphere. Not cheap but, to be honest, I thought it would be more expensive than it was.

The good was quite good and the atmosphere was very fun and entertaining. Worth a visit. The fish and chips and Mac n cheese were delicious!

Excellent food & fantastic cocktails. Unfortunately the customer service is some of the worst I’ve ever experienced. Visited twice. First visit was very pleasant. Second visit was awful. Sat at a table for 10 minutes before I was handed a menu like I was getting a traffic ticket or something. Order was taken 15 minutes later from a server who affectionately referred to me as lovely. Received breakfast with no silverware, drink or water. Staff was completely indifferent. I worked in the restaurant industry for over 20 years. What was most infuriating was their idleness and chitchat. It wasn’t that busy. I understand being in a restaurant when it’s slammed, and you can’t take care of your customers. This establishment seems to lack any kind of floor management. Kitchen and bartending excellent. Big disconnect getting to the customer though. Would not recommend unless you like to gamble.

Stopped here for a coffee and snack after just arriving from airport. My fellow traveller couldn't find her handbag when we were leaving. We were afraid it was stolen. Friendly personell helped us out and viewed their cctv footage to help out. Turned out we didn't come in with the bag, probably left it in the bus! So they pointed us to the bus company where we could retrieve it. We were so relieved! Oh, and the coffee & snack I had was really good too 😀 Returned a day later for a snack of great side dishes too: yummy fries and some glazed carrots. Was served by friendly staff again. Would certainly recommend and visit again!

Arrived late into Edinburgh and this was a real find. They serve food until 10pm and it was delicious. My husband had a rare steak cooked to perfection and I only wanted a light meal so had chicken wings and beetroot, feta and fennel salad. Simple but delicious menu and great drinks list as well. The staff were lovely and would highly recommend.

Went in the first time bc it’s right next to my hotel. The welcome was phenomenal by hosts and bar staff, and dinner was delicious. Great drinks too. But the truly outstanding feature of this restaurant was the personalities and the service, especially Annabelle James, who ended up taking care of me two nights in a row. Excellent interpersonal skills, pleasant, intelligent, efficient, unobtrusive, and helpful. Shes terrific at her job and I enjoyed making her acquaintance. I will come back here again.

Amazing place! I was up in Edinburgh on business and popped in here for a meeting and a working lunch. Beautiful place & the staff were AMAZING. Nothing was too much trouble. I have never felt so looked after! The food was delicious and the cocktails were delightful! I will 1 Million percent come back here the next time I'm in town! Thank you! What a fun work day!

Nothing amazing. When you read the menu, it sounds epic, but what actually arrives is a bit lacking. I wouldn't rush back. Staff are lovely.

Absolutely loved our breakfast here. We walked in off the street to be greeted with such a warm welcome. The food was fantastic and the service was even better. Jordan was so kind and courteous, he couldn’t do more for us. Would recommend 100% if you’re in Edinburgh!

Recently came in for a few drinks after a busy day of sightseeing and was greeted with a warm welcome by Annabelle! She recommended some cocktails which we absolutely loved. Atmosphere was lovely and cheerful. A very enjoyable experience at The Huxley, and she’s talked us into coming back to try the breakfast menu too!

Beautiful place inside and out. We popped in for a few drinks on Saturday night. The 3 Bartenders couldn’t be nicer. Didn’t get other 2 names, but one of them was Paul. Great drinks suggestions and brilliant chat. Will definitely be back and will recommend to others. Will be our new regular for sure. Keep up good work guys!

Food was great, the view as well was amazing. I ordered a caramel latte which was nice (Should have mentioned extra hot though). The Scottish Breakfast was really good. It's just the service was too slow for us even though the restaurant wasn't crowded. All in all, a nice breakfast experience, will come again!

I ordered fish tacos, they were cold. Ordered lasagna bites and that was cold as well. Also, got sick probably because the pork loaded fries weren’t cooked well.

It's a nice bar in a brilliant location. I was only there for coffee and food so I'm not sure what the night time vibe is like.

Could not cut my steak and un the end fave up. Said so when they cleared the table and later on was told that they tested the steak and took it off the menu and did mot charge me. That's what I call customer service.

Popped in for a drink after walking out of the 5 star establishment across the road after waiting for 15 minutes plus for no drinks to arrive and watching a mouse run across the floor in front of us. We were met with a warm welcome on arrival at the Huxley and were shown to a table immediately despite it being a busy Friday evening with no prior reservation. We told our server (Stewart) the story of our first attempt to get a drink at the other establishment which was meant to be a treat as it was our wedding anniversary. He took our drinks orders and brought our drinks over to us very quickly and a glass of Prosecco each on the house as it was our anniversary. Thank you Stewart! Great atmosphere, drinks and service

Lovely place and cosy atmosphere, however the customer service provided by one of your waitresses was terrible. Had total attitude towards our group of friends so unfortunately won't be back in a hurry.

One word to start; Great! Like any tourist it's sometimes hard to find a good place to eat not knowing the lay of the land. We ended up in The Huxley by very good misfortune. We had actually stopped in a close-bye restaurant and got completely ignored (never got seated) so we decided to leave that restaurant and go to The Huxley instead. We were very happy with the choice. From food, to atmosphere to staff, it was the best in all 3 categories in all the restaurants we ate in, as we traveled for 2 weeks through out Scotland and Ireland. The food and drink was superb but what really made our stay was Charlotte. Charlotte was an engaged, pleasant person. She took care of all our needs, answered all the annoying tourist questions we came up with, put us at ease and made us enjoy our day in Edinburgh that much more. It has been two weeks since we were in The Huxley. Through all the hustle and bustle, traveling 200 miles aday and trying to get in as many sights as possible, Charlotte still stands out in my wife's and my memory to the point of requiring us to write this review. We wish Charlotte and The Huxley continued success and would highly recommend both to new customers.

Very nice young crowd in Edinburgh, breakfast top.

I wish they carried the Edinburgh Rhubarb and Ginger gin (not just the liqueur). Their trio of sliders is great, but it has been sold out a couple of times that I patronized the restaurant. Castle view side room is pretty amazing if you are lucky enough to get the spot.
