Eating at Huxley is an experience. Starting with the stylish interior, the highly motivated crew, the creative food and the sparkling clean toilets, everything fits perfectly.

Great Scottish breakfast at The Huxley. Generous plate of food, well cooked, crispy bacon, sausages, black pudding, haggis and tattie scones. Nothing over done and dried out. Staff friendly and efficient, and nice atmosphere inside.

It should be rated higher, well made coffees with fantastic food for breakfast.

A very nice lady seated me and my wife even 15 minutes before the kitchen closed. All the staff are very nice. The atmosphere is terrible. No one plays games there, so you feel very comfortable there. The hamburgers were very tasty. Beautiful view outside and good prices. Best restaurant for me

Last day in Edinburgh and fantastic. Sat by the window people watching, listening g to great music and enjoying g every drink made by the fantastic bartender. 👌

Stopped here for a quick brunch before spending the day exploring. The service was fantastic and the food was even better. The Chia pudding was delicious. Our waitress was so friendly and accommodating. Be sure to ask for a seat by the window for the best views of the castle! Highly recommend!

We called in for breakfast. The egg and avocado tacos are lovely. The full scottish breakfast is a plate full of delicious food if you are really hungry. Staff are lovely. Nice comfortable interior. Its a bit more pricey but definitely worth it. Highly recommend and will call back again.

The food and the cocktail was really good. We had the fish tacos, pork belly bites, calamari, fish and chips. The calamari was definitely a melt in the mouth experience. The service was attentive and efficient. Very allergy friendly too.

Recently visited with my partner who is a wheelchair user. Staff were attentive and quick to set up the accessible ramp for access. Thank you for making your venue as accessible and inclusive as you can.

We bumped into this restaurant by chance. We were looking for a decent place to have lunch but the experience was awful. This place is dirty and food was unedible. We both got belly pain afterwards. Avoid at all costs.

We ate here yesterday, Wednesday lunch time 20/3/24. We hadn't been for a while. We both had the rump steak ( my wife is always saying that she prefers Sirloin) so with only Rump on the menu I can honestly say that she was very pleasantly surprised and impressed. She upgraded the house Fries for the haggis fries and I changed my fries for the chunky chips. A lovely Whisky peppercorn sauce. Both steaks were beautifully cooked to perfection. We will be returning again in May when we are back in the city. Thank you guys and well done.

We went in for a cocktail while on holiday in Edinburgh as the place looked so nice, warm and welcoming. The cocktails were good and the service was great.

Been here twice on our holiday. One night just for drinks, the second night for food and drinks. First night drinks were amazing. Really well made cocktails. Waiters were lovely and attentive however they forgot a drink at the end of the night but we were leaving anyways so didn't mention it. Second night food was lovely. I got the trio of sliders and my partner got the fish and chips. Sliders were lovely, the fish finger slider could have done with one more piece of fish just to bulk it out a bit but other than that no complaints. The fish was really good, really big portion, lovely and flaky and batter not too heavy. Chips were savage too. Atmosphere is really really nice. Music is not too loud, the decor is beautiful. Dinner menu is very small however the quality of food makes up for this! Would definitely recommend going here

Very beautiful place in the centre, very professional service BUT very strange plates for our greek tastes. We are not used eating like this for breakfast but they are. So if you like Scottish breakfast I think it's a good choice!

Popped in for some breakfast during a work trip. Was seated in a booth by a delightful gentleman. Service was impeccable, food was delicious. I was in a bit of rush so didn’t get to sit and relax for too long, but would highly recommend the breakfast tacos (I might ask for some hot sauce next time!)

We enjoyed breakfast during our three day trip every day. The waiter was extremely friendly and accomodated request for wheat-free options. Highly recommended!

Had breakfast there today (8th March). Chose Eggs Royale. Unfortunately the eggs were overcooked and lukewarm. I did mention this to the waitress when she cleared the plates and was told that the hollandaise which was put on top cooled the eggs down!!! Would go back but won't choose poached eggs again.

First time here off the refurbishment. I think it reopened this week. Really nice job. Nice new menu! Came on a Thursday so got one of their meal specials, had the halloumi, pork and the squid and all were excellent. Also had a couple of cocktails. Excellent service really nice waitress.

I had a reservation at the Huxley on the 17 February and we ordered our food asap. I ordered veal and my friend ordered fish. The veal was two very small portions with a very unattractive celeriac puree. The veal was red in the middle and I asked for it to be cooked again. I was told that was how the veal was served! I ate one piece of veal and tried to eat the other SMALL piece which was inedible as it was full of sinus. All in all my food was tasteless and needed seasoning! My meal cost £28 and was very poor value for money and my friend had a very tasteless fish ..... also poor value for money. This is not a restaurant I would recommend.

Service is impeccable. And I highly recommend the crispy squid. Beautifully cooked and nicely spicy. It’s a rugby weekend but the service wasn’t rushed. Great staff too.

Nice decor, good service, however food was disappointing- fries were very salty (and I like salt), burgers (both the chicken and the cheeseburger) came in buns that were a bit crispy, but had really soggy bases. No better than McDs, but at twice the price.

If you're looking for a cute, nicely dressed place for a drink with a friend, absolutely visit The Huxley! If however you're craving some food, we'd recommend some place different.

We enjoyed lots of cocktails. They were delicious! We indulged in some of their small plates, the 3 for £20 were great! We definetely go back soon!

We had an excellent experience here today (Feb 24). Food menu had average choices but the quality was amazing. Also found a new favourite beer (Cold Town NE IPA). Highly recommend for food and prices great for a capital too. Waiting staff all excellent too

Went here for breakfast as it wasn’t included in our hotel, good value for what you get and the staff were very friendly. Would recommend for anyone looking for a decent breakfast on a tighter budget, menu offers variety.

Went for dinner after work a while ago. Didn’t have a booking but managed to get a table despite it being busy. My cookie dough pudding was so good! Would recommend for a quick bite to eat if in Edinburgh.

Visited for New Years Eve dinner and had a lovely time. Food was very tasty. Great atmosphere, nice decor and design. Staff were very helpful.

The staff was very accommodating. As the person that steamed the spinach put way too much salt. It was after 1230, the waiter checked with the kitchens and they happily prepared more. I just hope it was olive on the spinach but I would have preferred it steamed for around four minutes and add a wee bit of decent salted butter. The music was great we luckily arrived in time to get a window seat. I will never choose the vegetarian of a Scottish breakfast as the lorne sausage, black pudding and the veggie banger had flavour and so did the pudding but they were very dry and they were sucking the moisture from my mouth. So I recommend to trial a proper veggie breakfast with real vegetables. But great idea just not my thing. The mocha coffee was great and the poached egg and mushroom was cooked to perfection but I would have preferred another portobello mushroom rather than the very salty and over fried potato bread. I have had better potato bread or whatever it’s called in other establishments.

We went for my daughters 18th birthday brunch and were instantly greeted with mimosas on arrival which was a lovely surprise !! Everyone loved their food and the staff were so friendly throughout, especially Stu and Sam who served us. Would highly recommend even for the atmosphere alone, happy customers indeed.

Came for dinner, we had two courses each and they were great. The starters especially were really tasty. The cocktails were delicious and the restauraunt was really cosy and had a great atmosphere. Staff were extremely attentive and friendly. Price is a little expensive, but worth it for nice meals and service.

The eggs Benedict were delicious. Definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in the area.

Great place for brunch, right on the west end of Princes Street. The group of businesses, the Rutland Hotel, Kyloe, The associated Gin distillery and the Huxley together are an asset.

Went for lunch, so this does not apply for brunch. Hamburgers were bad, like they just bought frozen patties in Tesco and charged me for cooking them dry and put them in a bun. Pretty good. We got the halloumi fries which were delicious. We also got the buttermilk chicken with waffles, the chicken was great, but the waffles were too dense. And finally we got the mac & cheese bites, we had never tried anything like it before and it was good.

We traveled here with kids who weren't quite ready to go out for breakfast. I came in to order takeaway and it wasn't an issue. They provided us with water and I got a latte while we waited. I appreciate they gave us a place to sit in the meantime. Once we got back to our hotel, we noticed our food was poorly wrapped for takeaway. Porridge and yogurt were turned on their side and wrapped in foil. Mostly just made me chuckle but wasn't an actual problem. I got into my eggs Benedict and the ham wasn't cooked at all giving it an odd texture. May as well have just been a ham sandwich. Egg, muffin, and sauce were good. Waffle, I made sure we could get syrup with it, didn't really have any and my 9yr old disliked it so much he took one bite and quit. I do understand food in the UK is different than the states but to pay £58 for this, is highly disappointing. The establishment is stunning and would be ok for drinks.

Came here for cocktail week. Walked in and was greeted by a waitress that couldn’t have been less welcoming if she tried. Seemed like we were an inconvenience and looked down upon.

We booked a table and it turns out that it was sensible to do this because we had a perfect position in the window aspect looking out onto the Waldorf Astoria and a view of Edinburgh Castle. Not a cheap breakfast but it was lovely....

Food was surprisingly really good, the coffee took a while to make however. Eggs were done well and the Hollandaise sauce was really nicely seasoned.

The breakfast here is so good!!! I was very impressed. The location is perfect and there are views of the castle so it's really lovely inside. I thought the price was okay for the good quality of the food.

Situated in a beautiful corner between Haymarket and Princes St, the Huxley is a cost atmosphere for breakfast and brunch. The staff are friendly and the food is exceptionally good for what it is; elevated pub grub. Fish and chips, burgers, the like. However this is where they fall short. The menu variety is limited, and they stick to what they are good at, but it leaves those looking for something different a touch disappointed. The food itself a 5 star, but i dropped a star because of the lack of menu diversity. If, however, all you want is pub grub done exceptionally well, then its an easy 5 star.
