Food was perfection, coffee was delicious, staff lovely! Couldn’t recommend more!

We were looking forward to trying the pantry for some time now. But we were disappointed. The food is over rated and there are much nicer places to eat in Edinburgh. The staff however are very lovely.

Lovely location food and service

Terrible service and a broken front door spoiled what should have been a lovely lunch with my daughter. My daughter and I, and another party of two, were sat directly in line of a freezing gale blowing through the front door, which couldn’t close properly. When I asked for all of us to be moved to 2 x 2 seater tables that were out of the way of the wind the waiter refused, explaining that they’d prefer the guests already having a miserable lunch to continue doing so, and leave the other tables free for new guests who might arrive. No effort made to tend to the broken door, no apology for the conditions being miserable, and the cheek to add a service tip to the bill - which I had them remove.

Really delicious brunch, great coffee & speedy service even on a busy weekend morning. Only complaint is that we wished the full breakfast menu ran longer, we arrived at 11.15 on a Sunday morning and were disappointed to find this was already finished - petition to extend this please!

Lovely brunch in beautiful Stockbridge. Had to add name to waitlist but explored the area while we waited and was sitting down in 25 mins. Staff all lovely. USA dish was fresh and filling. The Sunshine was also delicious. Good juice and coffee too. Just had to try the Nutella latte after for a stroll through Stockbridge

This was our favorite breakfast spot in Edinburgh! The dishes are huge for what you pay for and the food is extremely fresh. Would recommend sharing a breakfast dish with a side of hash browns!

I forgot what the name of p1 was, but it was delicious. It was a pity that I didn't get to eat the breakfast chips

We visited here yesterday and had an excellent lunch. The location is great as it’s easy to get to and not in the dead centre of busy town. The shop is very popular and every time I’ve walked passed it has been quite busy (good sign). It’s walk ins only so thankfully we got a table. Staff are all happy and friendly. The shop is quite quirky and they use really nice plates, bowls, mugs and dishes. There is an excellent selection on the menu, with your normal breakfast/brunch/lunch options but they also have plenty of unique dishes. I opted for the Halloumi and Lemon which is like a chickpea tagine stew but it was very tasty. The Halloumi was delicious! I got sourdough bread to go with it so I could mop up. My wife got the Sunshine on Stockbridge with added bbq chorizo. It was arguably tastier than mines, the sauce was sublime. To share, we got pecorino, white truffle oil and black pepper breakfast chips, which is basically fancy hash browns. These were nice enough but not much different from your normal hash browns. My wife also got a hot chocolate which she said was lovely. Maybe a little on pricey side with it coming to over £40 but the quality is there. Next I come back I would like to try the Moroccan Holiday. *UPDATE* I have since been here a few more times and I can confirm that this place still hits!! Quality of food and service is superb! Certainly one of the best brunch spots around!

My husband and I visited Edinburgh for a 2 night break we saw all the YouTube about this place and we had to go it looked amazing We had the breakfast and it lived up to the YouTube channel we were there waiting for it to open the service was fantastic and the food was out of this world an amazing little gem

I wanted to go to The Pantry for quite a long time as I’ve always seen the place full and with huge queues outside. When our group received a notification that our table was ready we got inside and after some time were asked to order. Even tho the waitress wrote down everything and repeated it at the end, several items were missing when delivered to the table. Another waiter had to come back to us twice to finally get us what we ordered. Food and drinks were very tasty however on rather pricey side if you think breakfast.

Relaxed big breakfast for a days city exploration. Amazing black pudding, incredible melt in the mouth haggis, coffee that glides down the throat. Here for early Wednesday and the place still ticks over with plenty of excited locals and tourists. Love it.

Lovely little place we visited on our weekend away. Excellent portion size and exceptional customer service. Georgia served us and was lovely and even went to great lengths to check what was in haggis so I could prove my boyfriend wrong! Will be recommending for everyone!

We have loved this place in the past, it's amazing! Unfortunately, as of at least 21st Feb '24 it is not dog friendly. We didn't know this had changed and we had to go elsewhere.

Really lovely breakfast. Eggs Benedict was tasty with high quality ingredients and delicious hollandaise. The only issue was the ham was very cold which made everything cold.

I would say this brunch restaurant is one of the best brunch I have ever had! I ordered a sunshine on stockbridge, and because I love mushrooms so much, I added a confit mushroom to the meal that already had one. On top of that, I ordered an iced latte. There are many kinds of ingredients in sunshine on stockbridge, including roasted sweet potatoes, roasted courgette, roasted tomatoes, roasted mushrooms, and two poached eggs. Paired with the delicious Sriracha chili sauce, it tastes very unique. It should be noted that this brunch restaurant is very famous in Edinburgh, so many locals and tourists come here specifically for it, and the restaurant does not accept reservations and can only be walked in. I arrived at this brunch restaurant at 9:40 a.m. and there were only a few empty tables inside, so I was able to get a table right away. However, when I left at 10:10, both indoor and outdoor tables were already full, Besides that, there were many people lining up at the door waiting for an empty table. So if you want to come and try this famous brunch restaurant in Edinburgh, try to come as early as possible otherwise you will have to wait a while to get a table.

Busy at the weekend with visitors from far and wide. Tables are available outside which are usually taken by those who wish to bathe in the Edinburgh sun. Inside there are 2 seating areas. The back part is claustrophobic, echoes and dark. The food,, yet again, was a good standard and good value. The kitchen team, like the floor staff are all well trained. Each plate is consistent in presentation. The staff, even at peak times, seem relaxed and unfazed. There’s no stress yet everything arrived without fuzz or delay. There’s no up-selling nor will you be asked multiple times “is everything all right”. The Pantry doesn’t do deserts/cakes but the coffee is reasonable. Will we go again ? Why not but will probably go during the week next time.

Stopped off here for brunch while walking around exploring Stockbridge. Advised of a 30-45 minute wait, so they took our number and we got a text when table ready….it was well worth the wait! Delicious eggs Benedict. Lovely coffee. The place was packed! A sign of how popular it is! Will definitely return again!

This is a cafe where you can enjoy a trendy breakfast. Seeing the beautifully prepared breakfast plate in the clean modern interior made me feel good even before the meal. I ordered a Scottish breakfast with sourdough, and the haggis, black pudding, and sausage were delicious, and the coffee was also good. I would like to visit again

Head line price for a morning roll at £5 but then the second filling only 90p. Not sure why the 3rd filling is priced at £1.10 but .... The roll was very good, the coffee afterwards was not the best but towards the top end. Staff were good as normal, despite the vast number of customers the team seemed in control, good people/good training. The smallish restaurant was noisy, maybe a bit more soft furnishing to dull the noise a bit.

Has the USA with bacon and the waffles. Both excellent, as was the coffee and service (love a place that doesn't overheat coffee). A rare 5 star review. Keep it up, we'll try and get back before we leave the city for sure. I don't know how reasonably priced it is but don't care as it's worth it.

There is little that is characteristic in this modernly renovated and furnished place. Free WiFi with password. Structured menu with varied and abundant offerings for both eating and drinking. The place is full and service times have been affected. Courteous and attentive staff. The dishes are well presented and the quality of the food is excellent. All four satisfied.

Welcome upon arrival was poor, bordering upon non-existent. Five members of staff were on duty, three were waiting tables and making drinks, while the other two were tidying up. It gets on my nerves when staff prioritise cleaning up over welcoming me to their place. If that kind of thing doesn’t bother you, go ahead and write a review about how valued it makes you feel, I won’t judge you. Place was half empty but they couldn’t seat us for an hour, because they were waiting on people who had been sent a text message saying their table was ready to return. Either have a queue round the block and work hard and fast to clear it, or take bookings. The Pantry does neither of these things. The staff - all bored-looking, stereotypically too cool for school - act like they’ve got it nailed. They haven’t. Food very tasty but not worth the attendant hassles.

Omg! Beat breakfast I've had in Edinburgh and one of the best I've ever had. The portion size easily worth the price. But then the quality of the breakfast is easily restaurant standard. Lovely vibe in the cafe as well. Definitely recommend as it's close to the botanical gardens as well. 😊

This is the most famous brunch place in Edinburgh and now I know why! It's truly amazing, you can't miss it - best in Edinburgh for sure - I had the full breakfast and my husband had the avocado toast, it's fresh and amazing - also, for a place with so many coffee shops like Edinburgh, it's funny you can't get an actual good cup, well, you can here! Super recommend the coffee too, will be back many, many times!

Was having Brunch here and was actually having a lovely time. The food was good and the atmosphere is quite nice. This could be a lovely place. Then something strange happened, something that I have never seen before. Whilst eating a young family came in. The manager/owner looked a little concerned and they had a conversation. I later found out that the establishment had been deliberately underpaying their staff. In this day and age, living is expensive enough. Throw in 2 kids and sometimes I don't understand how people make it. To have the callousness to deliberately underpay your most important staff to me is bordering on evil. Don't eat here; take your hard earned money elsewhere where the owners care for their community and the people who work for them. Avoid this place.

Was having Brunch here and actually having a good time. During the meal a family of 4 came in, 2 kids and 2 adults. The mother seemed fairly upset. After talking to the family outside it turns out that the owner of the establish had not been paying their staff. Quite shocking behaviour. I’ve seen other reviews of this establishment elsewhere and am certain it’s true. We live in a first world country people! Treat each other with love and kindness and don’t spend your money on unethical businesses that leach of others hard work.

An unethical business that does not pay staff and suppliers and has not place in the Stockbridge and Edinburgh community - stay away from it, do what is right

One of the best brunchie places in Edinburgh. We haven’t tried all the menu, but all we have tried were just amazing. Absolutely should try their egg benny, the hollandaise sauce is amazing. The waffles are also great, I love the blueberry jam. Honey would be a little bit sweet, so just add it gradually so that it tastes the best. French toast is too sweet for me - although the texture is perfect. Prawn sambal scrambled eggs tastes like pad thai to me (personal thought) - so it’s a no for me tho. The place is always crowded - explaining how great it is. But all the staffs are super nice and helpful

I was recommended to go there. The staff was very friendly and nice, but I didn’t really enjoy the food I had. The toast was burned but I felt bad not eating it. The latte was served in a glass (not double glass) so it was very difficult to hold it while it’s hot. I think the price was too high for what it was. I won’t be back :(

Interesting fusion food served but it can get quite crowded but it worths the wait.

I thought this place was very discriminating as to who entered in or waited outside to enter in for no apparent reason at all. We received not at all a good service, not a good welcome from start to end. The worse breakfast tea is served here, the most basic thing: the pride and joy of our culture- the breakfast tea is really badly served here. We get tourists and locals here, it’s a shame… national tea culture was given its worse turn here. Both the taste and how it served was bad. What they called chips is actually greasy rosti frozen like wedges, not at all nice and served in a soup bowl so it’s not even cut able!! Not recommended

Always enjoy a visit to the Pantry. You can't book a table, instead you can put your name down on a list and enjoy a little walk through Stockbridge. Food is really good, portions are a bit small such as the Sunshine on Stockbridge, for the price. Staff are really lovely and it's definitely a gem of Stockbridge

What an amazing experience! When I ordered a Bloody Mary, they asked how spicy I wanted it from 1-10. I ordered 10 and it was perfectly spicy (not too vinegary, just perfect!) we ordered 3 dishes. The American, the french toast and then a dish with halloumi and sriracha. When I say it was the best brunch I have ever had, I mean it! Want an amazing experience for brunch with creative fun food? This is the answer. SO DELICIOUS!

Decent food, good service, but highly overrated and over priced. The brunch portion is way too small. After spending 13£ on two eggs, a slice of ham and just one single piece of bread, I was still hungry, and there's nothing to do. This is day light robbery.

From the brunch menu, toasted sourdough with poached egg, avocado spread, and beacon was outstanding. The beacon was crispy but still maintained the texture. Avocado spread was delicious while p oarched egg was mediocre. But the combination created the synergy to open my appetite. 4 stars Cappuccino was mediocre. 2 stars 10 minutes waiting for the table and serving within 10 minutes upon ordering

Fantastic brunch! Great Coffee with options for oat, coconut, almond and soy milk. Had oat cappuchino, was delicious. Sunshine on something something bridge was super yummy. A bit noisy but thats to be expected with so many ppl. Nice atmosphere 👌

Delicious food. Be aware though you can't book, and when you turn up for a walk in there may be a long wait, as they then use a waitlist system! We were told 90 mins - it ended up being about 60, so we wandered around and then circled back. I would rather a booking system. Or just straight walk in. The staff were not the most polite.

We happened by this little spot without actually knowing what it was. We immediately walked in once we saw the amazing reviews. The halloumi is so good! The waffles so filling! The sunrise plate was incredible! The matcha… so so so good. And I’m a matcha lover so I’m picky! I highly recommend coming in! The staff is great too.

I visited the cafe yesterday with a friend for brunch, and unfortunately, it turned out to be an incredibly disappointing experience. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was far from welcoming. Upon our arrival, we were "greeted" by a male staff member who didn't bother with the basic courtesy of a hello. Instead, he gruffly inquired, "how many is it for," and then, in a shockingly rude tone, instructed us to "close the door; it's bloody freezing outside." This set the tone for an uncomfortable visit. We were informed that the wait would be around 20 minutes, and we were asked to leave our phone number. Hoping to make the best of our time, we decided to take a walk. However, after a lengthy 45 minutes, we received no phone call informing us that a table was ready. Frustrated and disappointed, we reluctantly abandoned the idea of dining at the cafe and opted for another place. It's understandable that everyone has their off days, but the manner in which the male staff member addressed us, especially considering we are two teenage girls, was entirely uncalled for. The lack of basic courtesy and the extended wait without any communication left us feeling not only disappointed but also uncomfortable. I hope this review serves as constructive feedback for the cafe management to address the issues in customer service and ensure a more positive experience for future patrons.

It’s almost never possible to get in: one day it’s crowded and no seats available, please wait 40 minutes outside as they don’t have booking service; another day they stopped allowing dogs inside without any reason. It’s easier to fly to Mars than get a table at this overhyped place.

We came here for breakfast and coffee , coffee was good and well textured , how ever not served on a saucer? Strange. We had eggs Benedict it was delightful , sourdough actually tasted as it should , generous amount of hollandaise sauce , good quality ham it was divine would definitely eat that again ! One of the best eggs Benedict I’ve had. Main reason why I gave a 4 not 5 is because the cheek of service charge being added. The food and drink is pricey enough, I wouldn’t have minded paying for service if we was made to feel welcome and some sort of personal interaction, appreciating our custom and money. To work in hospitality you need to interact with customers especially if you’re adding service on to our bill.

Nice food and good service/atmosphere

I had been planning to go to the pantry for a while. I have a dog and live on the other side of town so messaged on Instagram a few days before my planned visit to check if they were dog friendly. They said they were. We then walked an hour across town for brunch to arrive and be told, fairly rudely, that they no longer allow dogs inside. I let them know that this was fine but to be aware that someone had told me online that they do allow dogs and without any apology they just said ‘well the policy has changed’. It’s totally fine not to allow dogs but the manner was very rude and I had done the right thing by asking in advance. Really disappointed.

Avoid, horrible service altogether. There is no prior booking system to reserve a table. When I arrived, I was told it would be a 45min wait for a table and was turned away. The waitress didn’t offer to take my name or number to book me in. I popped back after an hour and was told nonchalantly that I didn’t leave a name so it would be an additional 45 mins and that even if I did leave my details, it would be a first come, first serve basis. Unless they implement a booking system, do not waste your time.

We went to the Pantry on a Sunday noon for brunch and as expected it was packed, keep in your mind that there is an open market on Sundays in Stockbridge so it was expected. The waiting time was initially estimated around thirty minutes, but we had a table in around twenty. The pantry team was very polite and they helped us with all of our dietary requirements. An easy 5/5 for the team! The food was very tasty and beautifully presented. Worth to highlight here that the ingredients were very tasteful and you can say that were quality products. The only comment (and the reason for my 4 stars) is about quantity. We left a bit hungry and personally I would say you can add a bit more bread at least on the portions. Give it a try and almost for sure you will not be disappointed.

Visiting from out of town and came upon the pantry while out walking and dropped in for coffee/breakfast. Tasteful decor, welcoming and attentive staff supporting simply superb food & excellent/well made coffee. We had the sticky toffee French toast and the pantry fry cooked breakfast, both 1st class. Travelling regularly and eating out too often this was a welcome change to have genuinely excellent food, well presented with outstanding quality ingredients. Many thanks and well done to all at the Pantry, highly recommended.

Llegamos a las 15:30 y estaban cerrando. Les dijimos que sólo buscabamos un sandwich, y nos dijeron que no. Se supone que cierran a las 16:00. Absolutamente ridículo, nunca habia visto algo tan absurdo. Menudo staff más vago... había como 3, esta claro que ninguno quería trabajar.

arrived at 3:30, advised it closes at 4pm but the restaurant is empty, chairs up, and they aren’t serving… would recommend going next door to the Florentine patisserie, also closing at 4pm but serving customers hearty food with excellent service 👍🏻

Excellent breakfast. The Pantry Dry was a huge amount of food and all was delicious. The bacon was especially good -- not sure how they prepared it but it was so addictive!

We waited 40 minutes for a table and when we sat down they were out of 4 of the 5 things on the lunch menu. We asked if they could make a cheese sandwich and they didn’t even have ingredients for that. Complete waste of time. We had to leave cause they had nothing left on the menu

Lovely breakfast, vegetarian option was delicious. However, service could have been a bit friendlier - the staff ask all the right questions, but very hurriedly and without a huge amount of care. It would be the perfect venue if they looked after you a little more. That said, the location, food and comfort levels are great - would still totally recommend!
