The Pantry in Edinburgh, City of

Had been recommended to visit and did not disappoint. There was a queue when we arrived but we scanned the QR code and joined the virtual Q. Had a wander around the very pretty neighbourhood while keeping an eye on our q position so the time passed by quickly. Greeted and seated by a very friendly member of the team . Great service, order taken promptly. Coffee was great and food delicious! Would definitely recommend.

The digital queuing system is sensible given how popular this place is, however being 8th in queue gave no real indication on whether that would be 30 mins wait or 1 hour and 30 mins wait? For us it was exactly 50 mins from joining the queue to getting in for a table. The food was nice, we went wanting late breakfast but by the time we were inside it was the lunch menu. The biggest ‘miss’ for us was the staff and overall atmosphere. The team looked absolutely done in after a probably very long and busy sunny weekend. (We had been at urban angel the day before which was exceptional - with loads of really keen and active staff).

Food is so good and a bit different to normal breakfast places

Great place for wholesome brunch. The coffee was good and every plate that came to tables was colorful and appealing to the pallet. Sunshine on Stockbridge was worth it.

Food was nice although the poached eggs were a little undercooked for my taste - still had runny whites. Main issue was the use of soya oil, making almost everything on the menu off limits for anyone with that fairly common allergy. It's entirely unnecessary as there are loads of other oils available. Also GMO isn't great for third world economies and small farmers.

Nice food, could have been hotter in temperature though. Staff friendliness & welcomeness could be worked on.

The food was delicious and the place is very nice (+ situated in a lovely area of Edinburgh). Service was very good. Definitely will go back!

Lovely little cafe with a great atmosphere and menu, lots of things to enjoy. the only thing i think could have been better was the coffee as it had arrived sort of cold. other than that id highly recommend

We sat at a table outside, we waited for a bit and nobody had come to take our order, when I went at the bar to order they didn't take my order and they said they will come for me to order. Food neither coffee were not nice, cappuccino had burnt coffee taste and the toast we chose was so full in oil which made our stomach so uncomfortable heavy! Was a lovely sunny day and sitting outside was really nice.

Really nice in-house made soups, salad and toasts perfect just to pop in and eat something good for you , really delicious coffee drinks, and friendly staff so why not go? Go!

It was my first meal in Edinburgh, and my first impression was very good as the restaurant had a nice atmosphere and the staff were friendly. I went right at opening time, and the food came out quickly and I was very full! I am so satisfied that I am willing to visit again if I come here again👍

... really... the best... I went there after looking for reviews and it was originally a local restaurant! But a lot of foreigners came and now they say it's a local restaurant + a tourist restaurant, so I think I understand why... First of all, they're very friendly, the food doesn't take long and the taste is really great... The world's most delicious pongsin waffles and savory and sweet coffee... should I call it toast...? It's really delicious ㅠㅜㅠ I looked up reviews and it says that the entire menu is delicious.. If you come to Edinburgh, definitely go there ㅠㅜ (It's great for taking pictures, the food is pretty plated, and the bathroom is large and clean!!)

Quick service, great quality produce and very well cooked. Smoked salmon benny was off the charts.

I had a very terrible experience and will never recommend or visit this place again. The male manager was extremely rude. There were empty seats, and no one was waiting outside, yet he spoke to me in a harsh tone, saying, “What do you mean?? There are many customers on the list.” I was also on the list, but he completely ignored my needs, leaving me to wait in the rain. Instead of accommodating us, he even suggested we go elsewhere. Because he is waiting for his “ghost customers.” His attitude was unacceptable.

The place is well located and the food was good, excellent quality and plentiful, they had a children's menu and pets are allowed. Some points that could be improved are the bathrooms that lacked paper and were not very clean.

The most delicious brunch I think ever, can highly recommend this fabulous bistro and in particular the 'Sunshine of Stockbridge'. Lovely staff and great value.

Por negocios en Edimburgo y estaba buscando un lugar para un buen desayuno de domingo antes de ir a Murrayfield para el rugby. Después de leer algunas reseñas me dirigí a The Pantry. Llegué poco después de abrir y ya se estaba llenando. Tenía los gofres con tocino. Bien, ingredientes frescos. El café es de primera categoría. Regresó la semana siguiente con su esposa y tomó el Pantry Fry. El pudín negro es de los mejores que he probado. Generosos platos de comida y un servicio eficiente.

Second visit in two days. Fantastic food lovely chilled atmosphere, urban vibe. Good value for money. Friendly staff.

Had brunch here as part of our weekend in Edinburgh for the rugby game. Got lucky as there was no queue and got shown to a nice table. Service was first class, very friendly and engaging. Ordered Sunshine on Stockbridge & Pantry Fry, both meals were excellent, food was good quality and cooked as ordered. Very filling and set us up lovely for the long day ahead. Good atmosphere and nice to see that dogs were allowed also. Would highly recommend this restaurant

Comimos aquí como parte de nuestro fin de semana en Edimburgo para el partido de rugby. Tuve suerte ya que no había cola y se mostró a una mesa agradable. El servicio era de primera clase, muy amable y atractivo. Pedido Sunshine en Stockbridge & Pantry Fry, ambas comidas eran excelentes, la comida era de buena calidad y cocinado como se pidió. Muy lleno y nos preparó encantador para el largo día por delante. Buen ambiente y agradable ver que los perros también estaban permitidos. Recomendaría encarecidamente este restaurante

Breakfast was fantastic but be prepared to wait! Once we got into the restaurant it was easily a 30 min wait for food after our order was taken worth the wait though. It's dog friendly too which is a big plus.

Popped in for some brunch after seeing it recommended on a Top Jaw video. It did not disappoint - staff were so welcoming and even gave us some local recommendations for the rest of our trip. Coffee was great and food even better. Would even go as far to say the best breakfast we have ever had out! We had the Pantry Fry and the No Small Fry; generous portions and for a fair price. If we were local we would definitely be regulars!

Food is good and the place is always busy. My favorite drink is match latte.

Only popped in for coffees ahead of flying home. The dirty chai was superb but could be hotter. Would like to visit for a breakfast to experience some of the delights on their menu! Will return

Brunch GOAT. I had smoked salmon eggs Benedict and today's sandwich, and they were both amazing. It was a happy meal!

A nice place to enjoy brunch in a small but beautiful town. The bacon was a little salty but the sourdough and eggs were good. Overall nice for the food! Worth a try.

The breakfast was particularly great with proper sausages and bacon whatever they did to the mushroom was incredible, nice and welcoming people, it got busy quickly on a January Sunday morning. Be aware there is a 10% service charge which we did not realise until the bill was paid.

This is a great find in amazing Stockbridge. We turned up as walk-ins on a Sat morning and told there was a 30 min wait for a table. No problem, scan the QR code to join the queue then take a stroll around Stockbridge before our table was ready. Ordered the Pantry Fry and have no complaints at all. The service and the food were excellent. Can't fault the price. Will be back

Lovely food with a kind waiter and a less happy waitress. It was very busy with a queue outside. Eventho the food was delicious, as soon as we were done the bill was presented at our table and we were hurried to leave.

It was okay probably better for meat eaters then vegetarians.

Abbiamo preso la full breakfast. Ottimo, soprattutto haggis e black pudding. Unica nota dolente...locale poco riscaldato....quasi tutti con su la giacca.

There are plenty of breakfast options, and you have the chance to try local flavors. The staff is very attentive. Make sure to make a reservation before you go.

Overall fantastic place to visit for breakfast/brunch. The food was amazing, coffee was exceptional, service was friendly and fast. The atmosphere was relaxed and chilled. Fairly busy for a Saturday morning but I didn’t have to wait when I arrived, was seated immediately. Would 100% recommend! I got the USA with streaky bacon added, and a cappuccino.

Great food! We were sitting close to the counter, unfortunately it was very noisy due the staff sorting out the cutlery.

My friend and I had a really lovely brunch here and left very satisfied. Coffee is good and the food is even better. We had the halloumi chickpea dish and the thyme pork belly and they were both incredible. Good portions and lovely flavours. The service was also warm, quick and attentive. If we had more time in Edinburgh we would certainly be back.

The best brunch place I’ve ever been to. The staff were really friendly and lovely and the food was absolutely delicious. Did have to queue up in the cold using an online portal but was worth the wait! Would definitely recommend and come again

Called in at 11:30hrs on 16/12/24. Extremely busy, met by friendly and helpful staff Amy & Callum. Prompt service, excellent food ( French Pop Tart & Goat’s Cheese Toastie), very tasty & good portion sizes. A great little find & an ambience to match. Would confidently recommend, no surprise that it so popular.

The food is quite nice. I had ordered the Eggs Benedict and it was really filling. Unfortunately the real draw of my experience was the service. All the servers were quite lovely except one. I came at 9am on 14th December. A white server in a pink tshirt made us feel very unwelcome (do not know his name that’s why the description). We first thought he might be having a bad day but then when he was being cheery with the couple next to us (also white) we realized it was probably because of our colour. He had asked them if they enjoyed the experience and the food and had not asked us. He was also being quite short and did not attempt to make conversation. He gave cutlery and tissues to guests who arrived after us and made us feel neglected. When it came to pay the bill he didn’t show us the bill and just showed us the reader to make the payment. Whereas for the other guests he showed the bill and was being courteous. This might not seem like a lot but it’s the little things that contribute to the experience

Ridiculous queuing system. After waiting for over half an hour in the cold we gave up as they still couldn't give an estimate of when a table would be available. Food may be fine if you can afford a few hours waiting for a table but they need to be more honest about table availability and queuing time. Nowhere is worth that sort of wait.

Good food, large portions, and pretty quick service. All in all a very good place to visit.

Busy Sunday morning so joined the electronic queue and went for a walk around Stockbridge to kill the time. Definitely a benefit of digital queuing - particularly when it’s cold. Great hospitality and friendly staff. Unbelievable food. The Pantry Fry was incredible - I don’t mean that lightly. Reasonably priced and obviously popular for a reason.

The food is delicious and the service staff is also polite. All in all a very good and relaxing experience

Lovely Eggs Benny. The team that day may have been having a bad day and my experience may not be typical - but there was no warm welcome, no attempt at engaging in conversation, no attention to detail with service and my coffee arrived after my food.

I come here very often, I love the food and the place. However this time I was a bit disappointed as the waiter almost rushed us out even if the place wasn’t that busy. I work in hospitality and this is not the way how you treat a customer. Rush for the bill, rush to pay where there’s plenty of tables free? I would have understand it if they have tables coming.

One of the staff was very neutral it wasn’t nice for a high ranking cafe, but we had a nice breakfast there!

Después de investigar buenos lugares de comida para nuestro fin de semana en Edimburgo nos encantó encontrar que la despensa no tomó reservas y según su propio sitio web “la espera para una mesa rara vez es más de 15 - 20 minutos”. Esto era perfecto para nosotros, ya que era nuestro último día en la ciudad y no había reservado ningún desayuno o almuerzo. Sin embargo la delicia se desvaneció durante toda la HORA que esperamos en la cola virtual caminando por Stockbridge en el frío helado. Como ya estábamos allí y habíamos esperado en los dientes parloteando las temperaturas lo sobresalimos. (Después de la hora fuimos a un pequeño pub lindo en la esquina de la calle de circo que realmente deberíamos haber estado en. ) Por fin somos los siguientes en la fila y confirmamos nuestra reserva desde el pub, nos volvimos a poner los abrigos y las bufandas y rápidamente volvimos a la despensa. Fue aquí donde nos encontramos con un miembro grosero del personal que dijo “yo no te llamé” cuando entramos por la puerta. Me disculpé ya que supuse que se nos permitiría la entrada después de que nos hubieran dicho que viniéramos. Le dije educadamente que habíamos recibido un mensaje de ellos a lo que arrogantemente dijo “solo sostenemos tu mesa durante 10 minutos... han pasado casi 15”. Habían pasado 13 minutos y esperamos más de una hora. Me disculpé de nuevo y le expliqué que vinimos lo más rápido que pudimos a lo que él gruñó y dijo que vería lo que podía hacer. Claramente pensaba que nos estaba haciendo un gran favor dejándome entrar. Si no hubiéramos estado hambrientos nos habríamos ido. Ambos pedimos un rollo de desayuno que venía con una salsa de barbacoa. Le pregunté si podía tomarlo con ketchup en su lugar y me dijeron que podía quitar la salsa y había ketchup en la mesa. La “salchicha” en el rollo era más como una hamburguesa y venía en un baño de harina. . era más una hamburguesa en realidad. Mi café apenas estaba caliente, así que estaba frío para cuando obtuvimos nuestra comida. Nadie vino a comprobar que estábamos bien o si necesitábamos algo más. La cereza encima era que 2 hamburguesas y un café frío nos costaron casi £ 50. ¡Este es un lugar que vive de la publicidad de las redes sociales sobre un buen avo instagrameable en tostadas! Es un precio excesivo y el personal es grosero y poco servicial. El lugar necesita una lección de servicio al cliente. ¡Los modales no cuestan nada como este lugar! Fue una pérdida total de nuestro tiempo y tan decepcionante... especialmente después de esperar tanto tiempo (nunca más). Hay lugares mucho mejores en Edimburgo y afortunadamente esta fue la única mala experiencia que tuvimos en nuestro viaje. ¡Sólo EVITA, EVITA, EVITA!

Food was amazing and it was a lovely spot. However, the queue to get in took over an hour and I just feel like it wasn’t a very efficient booking management system. The system gave no indication of how long the wait would be. Left many customers standing out in the cold for too long.

Lovely cafe for a pit stop around Edinburgh. Set in a quiet and picturesque location and with incredibly attentive staff. Food was served quickly with a great range of options to suit every diet. Highly recommend and will be returning for sure.

Ate here for lunch and had the soup of the day with a side of truffle & parmesan hash brown chips! Food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. A nice atmosphere in a beautiful area of Edinburgh.

A super nice place to have breakfast/brunch or lunch. The food was very good. The place is clean, organized and welcoming. The girl who helped us was very sweet.

They have a horrible queue system. Waited for 1 hour on a Sunday morning (arrived at 10.15 AM). We were number two in the queue from the beginning and we didnt even move up in the queue. We could see that it was several tables available inside but they didnt let people in. We left hungry and waisted 1 hour of our day. Dont go there.

It looks amazing from the outside, there is no booking available and unfortunately one needs to stand outside and wait in a queue. I don't understand why there are no awnings for outside as the restaurant is obviously really popular and could benefit from the investment. Hour long waits to get in just won't cut it for me personally. I hope to sample the food at some point in the future and will amend my rating when that happens.

What we ordered was all very rich and tasty. We had to wait a long time in line.

We came for breakfast. “Sunny breakfast” sweet potato plates are very successful. Even if you add extra eggs, it still tastes better. He was a very good companion for tea.

This seems to be another one of these pretentious places that people just love queuing for instead of going somewhere else. And maybe the food is great but you wouldn't know if you can't get a seat to try it out, would you? Our pals arrived at 11:30 today and joined the "virtual queue." We joined them at 12 and gave up waiting at 1230 when we simply sat next door without any wait whatsoever. Still, we decided to see how long it would take before we get a text for our table. 1h 25min after our friends originally joined the queue, we were invited to a table. One. Hour. Twenty-five. Minutes. I am sorry, but how special do you think your food is to think this is an acceptable waiting time? If you can't cope with demand, surely you just do the courteous thing to let people know how long it would be so they can make their decisions. This is a poor show all around. Anyway, the cafe next door was decent, it took 5 seconds to get a table and the food was delicious. So, we'll head straight there next time you're around.

Interesting and innovative dishes well-prepared. Really busy. Staff efficient but slammed for hours at a time. We walked Circus Lane after putting our name in for the queue. Seated in a tiny nook in the back of the back so it was pretty hot and literally jammed in. I would opt to wait for a different table next time to maximize the enjoyment of the chefs’ work. Per usual in the UK, ordered tea and got a leaf pot with a bag of mediocre tea dust. Too much water for that amount if tea. Why do they not just put leaves in? Clean up, I guess. Saddens me. Coffee was good for my partner - decaf available right out the gate. Obvious why the spot is so popular - good, reliably tasty food unlike most spots.

Lovely little Café. We were looking for somewhere for breakfast while we waited on a family member at the Western hospital. I had the Eggs Benny Florentine. Delicious poached eggs and the Spinach was lovely. My Husband opted for the Banana Bread French Toast, which looked so good I wished I'd ordered it for myself. Great atmosphere with friendly staff. Will definitely give it a visit again.

Appealing brunch type menu with a nice atmosphere and very friendly staff.

We sang U.S.A, Sunshine on Stockbridge and side by side Brakfast chips (hash browns). We liked them all very much. I wish Sunshine on Stockbridge had toast, but the fact that it was all vegetables didn't appeal to me. Including coffee and service fee, we paid around £40 for 2 people. The interest and concern was very good.

Absolutely horrendous, we were rudely greeted by the diva with the attitude on the front door who should not be working in hospitality. Spent almost £50 on breakfast and left feeling ripped off. The £15 fry up was disgusting. Poached egg hadn't been drained off so made the whole plate soggy, streaky bacon was full of fat and undercooked and slimy, the sausages didn't taste of meat at all and were also undercooked, the mushroom had a disgusting sauce all over it, beans were served in a tiny thimble and barely covered the single hashbrown, no toast. The coffee was actually very nice however also cold and had to drink it all straight away before it got even colder. My girlfriend had the pancakes and they were also served cold. Avoid and go elsewhere
