The best restaurants serving British food in Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh and Lothian

A magnificent restaurant in central Edinburgh. We went there based on website recommendations and it didn't disappoint. There were six of us and we were in a reserved seating area, even though we hadn't pre-booked a table. We had a wonderful meal, and the service was excellent. I would definitely recommend it for lunch or dinner.

Thoroughly enjoyed eating here. The food was lovely and beautifully plated. The server was very polite and professional. The only thing that bothered me was the music, it was just too loud . I was with a friend who is hard of hearing and even with his aids on he couldn't keep track of the conversation. It would also be useful that when making a booking people could be informed about quiz night. We did leave a lot earlier than intended because of the high volume.

We had lunch there, it was good, the place is nice, wide selection of Scottish dishes and affordable prices. Negative point: When we asked to pay separately (which is completely within our rights), the waitress huffed and seemed annoyed.

Always visit here when in Edinburgh. Friendly staff, we enjoyed drinks and food. Haddock supper and a Tweed V Bavette food was tasty and njoyable. We njoyed our visit, its a luvly bar/restaurant, bright and spacious. Worth a visit :) :)

Meatballs were excellent. Service friendly and attentive without being overbearing. A bit quieter than Princess Street was on a 6N Saturday but well worth the 10 minute walk. Thanks!

Had a lovely Sunday lunch / tea food was great drinks took a while to come when ordered through the app but it was busy. The one let down was table 28, the pub was so busy we had to take table 27, all the time we were in the pub probably 3 hours plus they took all chairs from tables 26, 25, 24 and 1 from ours they then vaped continually, it started discreetly with one woman but by the time we moved tables to get away from it, it was most of the table, apart from the younger children, yes some of the teenagers were vaping. They got that loud that although watching man united Fulham game we had to move as they were unbearable. I thought it was illegal to smoke or vape on licenced premises but the staff walked past ignoring them maybe the licence holders or premises supervisor needs to be refreshed as to the law in scotland Mark

We only had drinks here, staff were really helpful and friendly.

We had 2 dinners Here, and Both were amazing! The Service Staff were very Professional and friendly. Our waitress was very Kind and Even Made a List of places for us to visit, since it was our First time in the city. The Atmosphere was very cozy yet chic. The Food and Cocktails were delicious. The also have an amazing selection of Desserts. I would definately come here again. The Spence is a Must visit for anyone coming to visit the City.
