Everything was 10 out of 10! The food vad very tasty, we had the bangers and mash, the fish and chips, the mini-haggis and the kids had the Mac and cheese! We all really recommends this place!

My wife and I absolutely loved it. We split fish and chips and loved every bite. The atmosphere was relaxed and the service was great.

Amazing food, the mash was to die for! It's hard to get a seat though, busy place!

This place was great! We showed up around 6 on a Sunday and it was really busy - we waited maybe 20 minutes for a table, but just grabbed a seat at the bar and had a beer. My dad got bangers and mash and loved them, and I had a great bowl of Cullen Skink. My mom had the special daily soup - sweet potatoe and peanut, and a feta salad. We all loved our food, and topped it off with sticky toffee pudding! Only downside was the staff was stretched thin, so we often had to wave down someone or go in search of the very harried waitress, but when we did they were super nice. The food came out promptly, fwiw!

Fully booked when we got here, but they were nice and managed to squeeze us in. Very traditional Scottish food, not a lot of flavours, but seasoned and cooked perfectly. Service was alright, I enjoyed that a simple nod with my head and pointing to my glass was enough to get my glass full again within 30 seconds.

Not a great experience. Completely ignored despite obviously being at the bar waiting. Kitchen was closed and the perfectly English speaking people behind us were thrust a sign saying that it was closed instead of being spoken to like human beings. Ended up walking out. Funnily enough won't be going back nor recommending.

Stumbled upon this pub on our recent trip to Scotland. The fish & chips was amazing. Hubby had the Mac & cheese with bacon and loved it as well. Service was prompt, food came out quickly, and staff was very friendly! 100% recommend!

We had lunch at the Fiddler’s Arms. The pub is in Grassmarket in the Old Town. Outside, there is an amazing view of Edinburgh castle. We liked the traditional look and feel of the pub. The staff were friendly and we felt very welcome. Nice pint and wine, and decent lunch menu. We had club sandwiches and salad. Definitely recommend this pub.

Wir haben sehr gut und regional gegessen und getrunken ! Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich . Hinzu kommt dass man immer Tabwater bekommt welches sehr gut schmeckt .

I highly recommend Fiddler's Arms! I had the pie of the day for dinner, and it was a delicious chicken pie with a side of mashed potatoes and green vegetables. The servers were very friendly and attentive; thank you to John for the excellent service! I'm so glad I discovered this restaurant!

They offer local whiskey flights and great Scottish Pub food. Their staff were amazing and very kind, even when very busy. Honestly a great spot.

We had the fish and chips, and the bangers and mash. The food was all really good. Some of the best battered fish I've ever had. The batter was light and flavourful, and wasn't too much relative to the amount of fish. The bangers were also very good. Overall, very flavourful comfort food. I would definitely visit again and recommend to others.

Wonderful restaurant. Our last night in Scotland and we just wondered into the Fiddlers Arms. Atmosphere was cozy and warm. Greeted by the bar tender and seated within a few minutes. A glass of wine, and a beer started our night. We talked to a young lady sitting next to us, and soon our starter - Minestrone soup was delivered with a nice warm roll, which we shared. I chose the Mac and cheese for my Main, which came with garlic toast, and hubby had the Bangers and Mash. Both of us happy campers. The Mac & cheese was thick with the cheese. The other bar tender also came to our table to check to see if everything was good. A great experience

I had a fantastic experience at this pub. The atmosphere was cozy, and the service was excellent. The beer selection was great, with a variety of craft and local beers to choose from, all of which were fresh and well-poured. The food was equally impressive – flavorful, well-prepared, and served hot. I especially enjoyed the classic pub dishes, which were hearty and satisfying. Fiddler’s Arms, located on the far end of Grassmarket, serves food and drink, with seating in and outside. We chose out. Must remember to order at the bar and not wait for a server. Great fun watching the activity, people going to and fro, different fashion statements, seeing automobiles that should be marketed in the U.S. The pint of Guinness and a Stella were savored.

My wife and I had a fantastic time at Fiddler’s celebrating our (belated) 36th wedding anniversary. The General Manager (next time you’re in Switzerland look us up) and all of his staff were very friendly and accommodating of every wish. The food was well prepared and very tasty. There was live music and even though I’m not really into country or bluegrass it was entertaining. All in all a wonderful evening. I highly recommend it.

A traditional Scottish pub near Edinburgh Castle. I ordered beer, whiskey, and French fries, and they were all above average. I had a satisfying time with the staff, who kindly recommended beer and whiskey.

Great food! I had haggis stuffed chicken and it was awesome! My wife had fish and chips and it was super good. The only thing I didn't care for was the whiskey fight was a little light but other than that this place is perfect.

I really appreciated this establishment, especially considering the disillusionment I had in a pub right next door which claims to be pleasant, when it is absolutely not. I ate a very good dish, with good value for money and the last person had a smile, which is very pleasant. I found the decor rather ordinary, but clean and well done. I removed one star because of the toilets which frankly need to be overhauled and are not sufficiently clean. Apart from this little inconvenience I still recommend this place for a bite to eat 😉

"Long-armed-John" and his colleagues took great care of us. He helped us select the perfect whiskey/scotch to sip before dinner. Everything was delicious and the room was cozy yet lively. Highly recommend

In such a touristy city, it becomes difficult to find authentic places with typical food, but this is one of them. The kindness of those who serve you is remarkable 😊 Main course, drink and dessert, for two, we spent P44 The sticky toffee is delicious!

I had food recently and the experience was underwhelming. While the portion sizes were generous, the food itself lacked any real flavor. It was disappointing to see such large servings go to waste because the dishes were bland and unremarkable. Quantity alone doesn’t make up for the lack of taste. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking for a satisfying and flavorful meal.

We visited the Fiddlers Arms Friday 23rd August - our experience was not acceptable - if that is that they value their customers. We waited for a table got one by the window ordered our food they never checked on us to see if we were enjoying it - they removed the plates never asked if we wanted desserts; my partner went to the bar to order another drink for himself they brought it across to the table he was half way through the drink when a member of staff came across and said they wanted the table back in 25mins in other words drink up and clear off. We just asked for the bill and left the annoying thing was when we left there was empty tables everywhere a 6 seater sharing table next to us empty a table of 2 empty and nearly all the tables at the other side of the bar all empty, the bar stools were all taken but we were not even offered another table - if it was just our table they wanted back. We live in Edinburgh we have supported that bar for many years and until Friday had some happy memories. The owners might like to remember that we are the people that they are happy to have in the bar when the tourist season is not so busy. When walking home we passed many bars with people sat in and out chilling with a drink after their meals and I just wondered why I bothered to go to the Fiddlers Arms - ruined evening. You don’t deserve loyal customers.

We called in for lunch, primarily as we were struggling to get in anywhere else! Average food, average service. The place feels drab and could do with some TLC. Wouldn't rush to return.

Great location. Food was really nice and satisfied. Haggis neeps and tatties was definitely a great pick it was really nice and flavourful Only downside was staff were slow at taking orders and when we wanted to pay the bill we got bored of waiting and had to ask at the bar even though it was table service, tried to gain eye contact to draw them over but no luck. Would come here again though.

Waiter said they are completely full, although while leaving we saw two free tables. Feels like they didn’t want to serve us.

Visited this pub whilst in Edinburgh for food and drinks and the food was amazing, good prices quality food. Staff were friendly and helpful would definitely recommend and will visit next time in the area

Magnificent place with delicious food, great whisky and nice people. It was so good that we came there three times during our three day stay. The fish&chips and pie were best we found during our trip to Scotland. The rating is driven down by the people who could not get a table. Can understand your frustration folks. The place is busy in the evenings and it's not possible to book a table. One of the days we were out of luck and had to go somewhere else. The place is absolutely worth waiting or coming back in my opinion.

In May 2024 I was in Edinburgh with my brother. It was a great time and we experienced and saw a lot. The Fiddlers Arms is one of the highlights of our visit here in the Scottish capital. One day we ate great fish & chips here and drank something cool with it. The great service from the staff and the great taste of the food made us decide to eat here again the next evening. We opted for traditional Scottish food t, pie and haggis. And the dessert… WOW! It was brilliant, friendly people, friendly stff! We can only recommend Fiddlers Arms. A great pub in the midlle of the old town! Thanks and greetings from germany.

We stopped in for a bite after a day of touring Edinburgh. The pub looked quaint and inviting. We were greeted at the door and quickly seated. The staff was friendly and the food delicious! A great spot !

Very warm welcome on a wet and windy Wednesday afternoon. Though tables are generally first come, first served, I had been able to reserve for 9 of us at 4.30 pm to follow a visit to Camera Obscura at the top of the Royal Mile. Knew this was an easy walk down the steps at the side of the castle, not a problem even in the rain. Staff are friendly, and the food served very tasty. We were rushing back to Waverley or would have stopped for pudding and coffee.

Great place with excellent service. Its busy, but you can wait at the bar and they'll seat you directly. Very good food. I had the Scottish salmon and it was some of the best I've had!

Nice and simple place. Food not extraordinary but good and rather caloric! Good choice of beers and discounts of around 20% for residents of the Castel Rock hostel.

I had a great evening at the Fiddler's Arms! The server was very pleasant and warm. He gave me pretty good advice on beer and brought me a small sample of the one I had chosen to make sure I liked it. The haggis is absolutely divine and the toffee pudding is wonderful! For a typically Scottish meal, I highly recommend!!!

Nicest meal I had in Edinburgh! Many options available including vegetarian ones. The staff was kind and attentive, and the food came out really fast.

All food and staff were great, def. recommend. But I'm deducting one star because the menus were dirty/sticky and there was a slightly off smell inside the restaurant. Still, would go back! Spent about £35 for a burger + beer + whisky.

Food took ages to arrive. I ordered a medium steak and it came well done, it was supposed to come with cheese and it didn’t. They didn’t seem too bothered by any of this.

To get seated you need to negotiate what you will order. It was even not accepted to say that we will eat and drink something, we were asked to promise that everybody will eat full. Never seen such an impolite attitude.

Stopped in on a busy Friday night, was seated right away. Had a great beer and sandwich. Server and bartender were both so nice. Food came quickly and the place has a great atmosphere. Would definitely return, thanks!

Great wee pub which is popular for food. As much as we enjoy the pub the food has been hit and miss. The staff are super friendly and attentive and often deal with large numbers of people with ease. Best pint of Tennants in the area.

Went in to eat dinner and there was a slight waiting time; however, we waited at the bar a short while. It was worth the wait. The food, Bangers and Mash and the Fish and Chips was excellent. With a bottle of Rose, it was the perfect choice for our meals. The bar manager came over several times to ensure that we were perfectly attended to. It was a most enjoyable evening.
