Excellent place to eat. Food always great. Steak pie wonderful. Good prices.

Allan's the owner is a nice guy the manager is rude and very false. Won't go again better options with friendly faces at pubs near by there.

How is this place still open ? 3 adults 1 child only 1 alcoholic drink and the bill was £85 !! . Portions tiny. Chicken madras was more like a poor imitation Chinese curry and only 1/2 a naan with about 1/2 a chicken breast worth of meat . Fish and chips .. tiny fish . Haggis fritters laughable . I get its an affluent area and an independent pub but cmon guys .. no wonder you were dead quiet.

Traditional, roomy, hostelry with bags of character and personal service. Close to Edinburgh in one of its outlying "villages", Juniper Green. Places like this need support so get out there!

Absolutely lovely meals been there twice on the past fortnight fish and chips outstanding and hunters chicken out of this world both served on roasting hot plates and friendly staff

Rab howat band playing tanner's lounge bar on Friday the 7of July me Brian Tinwhistler pether and my girlfriend Pauline and Alaric my nephew injoyed the evening and the meal and the staff was very friendly and helpful and I like to recommend to everyone to come and have a great meal and a good atmosphere

Lovely friendly staff and ambiance in Tanners here for my sons birthday family get together lovely time had by all- food was great as usual 3 courses had by most of us - all of us had a dessert as can’t resist it as too many too choose from highly recommend definitely be back again.

Wee lunchtime catch up with a friend - great food, service and reasonable prices. Definitely will be back hopefully soon!

Okay for a drink and a quick bite

As always an amazing meal, amazing service and a great chilled atmosphere . Nothing is ever a bother…..chicken fajitas are out this world!

We now live locally and have been looking for a nice local restaurant and we have definitely found it. The food was impeccable and we enjoyed the comfort surrounding us 10/10 a first time today for us today and certainly not a last!

Unfortunately we were welcomed with unfriendly and quite rude customer service. We understand you may be understaffed, but that isn’t an excuse for not being decently nice. We didn’t have high expectations but were still disappointed. This made for an uncomfortable atmosphere. Also found to be overpriced - 6.50 pounds for 3 chicken wings ? Definitely will not be returning.

Had a lovely lunch food was great and the plates were hot could enjoy the food better, nice and quiet so we could enjoy a conversation with friends

We went for supper and were delighted with home made Steak pie served with potato and carrot.

Food was amazing, they do small portions as well as normal sized so ideal for oap. Staff were lovely as well. Will definitely be back. Had to take pics of desserts as they were yummy 😋

This was our first time in Tanners and it was my husbands birthday. The place is emaculate, the staff are very helpful and friendly and the food was hot and delicious. Would recommend this place and now we have found it, we'll be back

Arrived and was shown to table by friendly Barman, ordered soup and husband ordered haggis fritters the I ordered steak pie and husband had scampi. The food was delicious and absolutely piping hot! Sou very tasty and husbands enjoyed the haggis, the steak pie was one of the nicest iv had in a long long time, meat just melted in my mouth, scampi was love and fresh. Definitely will go back. Just real hearty homemade pub food with decent portions

Nice place but…..seems locals get more attention and service than newcomers. A bit noisy at the bar.

The food was lovely but took ages to come. We had to wait one hour from arriving to receiving our food. The staff were pleasant and attentive. The surroundings were quite plain rather than a restaurant or traditional pub.

Went for a quick bite to eat as was passing through the area. All the lights were off (1pm in the afternoon) and we were greeted by a woman behind the bar. The way she spoke to us it was like they were hoping for no customers. Anyway, got told to sit anywhere and we were given dirty table mats and a sticky menu. I had the soup which was cold and my friend asked for the chicken balmoral with chips. When it came there were no chips but we made no fuss. The soup had obviously been sitting around a while before being served which led to it being very cold. Would I go back? Never.

Great wee pub. My family and I had a reunion in there. The pub was cosy, homely, reasonable priced and no problems. I would recommend this place.

Met up with a cupple of my friends for a quick drink.all the staff where nice and friendly.hopefully will try their meals next time I visit.

Visited here 4 weeks ago to catch up with friends. Everything was well set out and it was newly decorated which was lovely. Social distancing also done very well and bar staff kept everything well sanitized.

Booked my grandson's 21st here last October. It was a fantastic night for all. Great staff, all very friendly and helpful. DJ kept the good tunes going, the crowd were all dancing and singing and thoroughly enjoying themselves, no complaints from the staff haha. Many thanks to Dean and bar staff who worked on the night the 4th of October 2019 👍🏻🥂

Twice visited pre christnas for value for money xmas dinner. Perfect portion sizes and salmon fishcake starter delicious. Amazing banoffee pie to finish with. Aals a quiet environment to relax and chat and you were not rushed between courses. Hope they do something for burns period at end off month. Keep up the good work. Pub well run and do enjoy the quiz machine. Always fun to lose a wee bit of money whils being entertained.

For the 3rd year we came to Tanners to spend the first day of the New Year. My meal was really lovely. The haggis starter was just right and the steak pie delicious. I had cheesecake for dessert which was also lovely. The service at the bar was excellent even though it was busy. The band played for the afternoon and they were even better than last year. Great choice of music and some good chat. Thank you

Good place for a party staff friendly not to pricey for your drink.

As part of a touring male voice choir, called in here unannounced on a Tuesday lunchtime en route to the airport home. We were welcomed and enjoyed the best kept beer (Doombar on draft) of our entire tour then all ordered meals which were delivered swiftly, all enjoyed the food with no complaints at all. Sincere thanks for putting up with us!

My wife and I were meeting friends here for a drink however we hadn't had any dinner so we decided to order some food before our friends arrived. The food was decent enough but wasn't anything special. It would be fair to say that it was fairly typical pub food. Our friends arrived half way through our meal and we all enjoyed our evening.

Was there after funeral of a friend - lovely buffet set up - very tasty.

Enjoyed an older family lunch here. Food was good pub grub - tasty and filling. Service was OK, friendly and professional. Not their fault, but with open doors for air circulation. the couple of house flies that came in were annoying - perhaps they should have mesh covering outside openings. Would return though.

Stale beer; surly service; atmosphere like the moon; unsafe, decayed decking in the back yard; constant loud noise of fast traffic on the bypass; large dining room that looks like nobody has eaten in there for 10 years. The car park is so empty that they should try making it public to create the illusion there are customers inside.

We had a nice time in tanners the meal was good pub grub the service was really good, the barman was attentive and we had I bit of a banter with him he was a good jumbo well worth a visit.

Rather disappointed. My battered haddock was very greasy. Not much meat in my husband's steak pie. He reckoned there was more meat in a Gregg's steak bake. However, my chips were nice.

I know some people can be stuffy about pub grub but the amount of times you go out and want something filling and comforting and it goes wrong is regular, This pub is absolutely perfect I had a mixed grill that was superb and big ,my wife had a grilled Salmon with chilli and she said it was "lush".If I lived here this would be my local. Service was spot on from all the staff.

Family and friends enjoyed a special birthday occasion on Sunday 12th May in the conservatory of this pub, the attentive service and tasty food were very much appreciated. Compliments to the chef, could not find fault with anything.

Staff are fantastic and friendly! Called ahead to see if they accepted dogs, unfortunately not in the building but the staff were very accomodating and set up a small area round back and offered some water for the dog; as well as giving some knowledge of places that do locally. I'd highly recommend here for the friendly service alone.

No atmosphere cook/chef served beer handled change then handles and served food to customers Beer was flat lifeless had 1then gladly departed won't return.

Visited last week for lunch. Not too busy when we arrived but gradually got busier. However throughout the 2 1/2 hours we were there, one very capable lady did everything but cook. It did mean a bit of a wait but we weren’t in a hurry. Some grumbling from the adjacent table suggested the elderly folks there had somewhere else to be but I think they had nothing better to do than complain! Food was pretty good. Small portions of lasagne and fish and chips were soon gone. The sea bass looked a bit the worse for perhaps sitting under the heat a bit too long before being served, but was eaten without complaint. The chicken goujons were massive and apparently excellent. We all managed deserts, which we were ready for, mostly due to the time we’d been there, but they were all good. Wouldn’t rush back but wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the food and the very hard working lady who managed to take orders, serve food and drink and clear tables, all by herself.
