Kyloe Restaurant at Rutland Hotel in Edinburgh, City of

Beautiful restaurant & ambience (very cosy & classy). It was the first restaurant we dine at once arriving at Edinburgh & absolutely loved it. Our waitress was fantastic & took her time to explain to us the various type of meat-cuts. The steak we ordered was perfect & the sides were delicious too! 5/5 overall

Arrived at Kyloe for a late dinner last Saturday. Staff were very nice but extremely slow. I ordered scallops for an appetizer. I only received one scallop and they put a prawn on the plate. Would rather have had more than one scallop. I thought the steak was rather bland, not very tasty. Really nice staff at Kyloe, but the food was a bit disappointing.

We were really looking forward to our meal here. However, the Rump roast was inedible. A big production was made of choosing the right knife to cut it with, I know rump isn't the most tender of cuts, but we should have been able to cut it and eat it! The vegetables were barely warm, and the roast potatoes were not freshly made. Also £30 for a bottle of screw top wine? Seriously?! On the plus side, the waiting staff were polite and efficient, and the sticky toffee pudding and ice cream were good. We mentioned our concerns to our waiter, and they took 20% off the bill. Overall impression, all show and no substance!

We had the Sunday roast, which was fantastic and a reasonable price.

As a good Italian eater, it was one of my favorite and good places I have ever eaten in my life! From the various starters to the main courses, it was an explosion of taste and flavor, combined with excellent service! Clean location and very well cared for in the smallest details, with tables not too close to each other, thus ensuring the right privacy and confidentiality, a really good level of music, both for the very chill playlist, and for the volume of it, really well managed! Overall, I repeat, one of the places where I have eaten best in my life!

Overall was good - steak was okay, price was reasonable, but certainly have had had better for less. Servers were kind, however tables were sticky… wine glasses kept getting stuck - would say experience was simply average.

Was absolutely blown away by this place. Great atmosphere, service and food. The steak and s’mores dessert was phenomenal. I was shocked at how reasonable the food prices were. The cutlery and presentation was very cool. The Staff was so friendly. I wanted to go back again but we ran out of time.

Exceptional. Scallop ate as good as the presentation - a work of art. First time been offered a choice of five steak knives but a butter knife would have gone through the Highland Wagu! Tasted awesome - best steak ever - spoilt forever and will enthuse about this visit for a long time. Staff lovely and friendly and wine suggestion complimented meal perfectly. Thank Kyloe. The place is great and the vibes are great. As for the food, the burger and steak are beyond description, very delicious but a little fatty. The Parmesan potato is very excellent. In general, a very excellent restaurant

Kyloe is a phenomenal steakhouse in Edinburgh Scotland! I thoroughly enjoyed every minute I spent here! The food is top level across the board! Kyloe goes the extra mile with every detail. They offered an in-depth visual presentation of every cut of meat offered. They even showcased a selection of knives to choose from, which is something I've never seen offered despite dining at hundreds of restaurants around the world! The cowhide menus, beautiful table settings, and their complimentary treats presented with the check set them above and beyond! I also loved their music selection playing throughout the restaurant. Excellent service with attention to every aspect of this dining experience! They also have extremely reasonable pricing compared to what I'm used to paying for comparable meals back home in New York. A perfect meal, I couldn't be happier!

During our first evening in Edinburgh, we stumbled upon Kyloe, a steakhouse located in the heart of the Old Town, near Edinburgh Castle. Out of curiosity, we decided to step in—and we absolutely did not regret it. It turned out to be a fantastic evening that we spent there. The staff is incredibly attentive and clearly enjoys their work, which is a rare but valuable quality. The atmosphere inside is warm and inviting, with something for everyone, from the decor to the music selection, which particularly impressed my father. They play a lot of classic hits that really add to the dining experience. If you are a steak lover, this is the place to be. The steaks are top-notch, cooked to perfection, even if there’s a bit of a wait. We ordered two steaks with potatoes and green beans, and every bite was delicious. While the prices are moderate, they are quickly forgotten once you take a taste of their incredible meat. Unfortunately, we were too full to try any desserts, but we’ll definitely make room for them next time. One note: while it’s easier to walk in during the week without a reservation, weekends tend to be busier, so it’s a good idea to book a table in advance. Thank you, Kyloe team, for giving us such a memorable dining experience on the first night of our Edinburgh trip. We’ll be back for sure!

Loved the vibe of this restaurant. Service was amazing as well as the food and drinks. Must try the campfire s’mores. Steak was cooked properly and delicious. Love that you get to pick your own steak knife. Very fun. Will definitely go back.

I’ve been twice and it was great both times. I feel like it seems a bit pricey but between their lunch deals, sharing deal for the steak and their Sunday roast you actually get amazing value for money. The staff are attentive, the place is nice and the food is really good.

Ein gutes Steakhouse mit toller Atmosphäre und dem besten Dessert das ich je hatte. Die Bedienung freundlich jedoch gefühlt etwas im Stress (vielleicht waren sie unterbesetzt?) Zeigen dir verschiedenen Fleischstücke auf einer Holzplatte die du bestellen kannst, jedoch sind nicht alle da drauf. Du darfst sogar dein Messerart fürs Hauptgericht auswählen, jedoch sind nicht alle für alle Steaks gleich gut gebrauchbar gemäss der Aussage welcher uns die Messer gezeigt hat. Das T-Bone Steak war gut, hätte aber auch zarter sein können. Das Dessert „Campfire S‘Mores“ war eine Show und Geschmacklich herrvoragend! Mehr dazu sag ich nicht, lasst euch überraschen.

My fiancé and I came for an early anniversary meal. The staff were all fantastic, specifically Kris and James who both looked after us very well. The food was amazing! Would 100% recommend and will definitely be back.

Top class steak restaurant located just off of Edinburgh's Royal Mile across the road from the Johnny Walker Experience. The food and service we had was exceptional from start to finish, the attention to detail is spot on and overall we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Kyloe. Compliments to the staff who were excellent! Fantastic staff, succulent food and wonderful atmosphere. I have disability issues and they took me up in the lift, just ask the staff. The restaurant is upstairs.

Went for the Sunday lunch a few weeks ago and it was amazing. The staff were attentive and explained everything and the restaurant itself was lovely.

Went for Sunday lunch. Worth every penny. Lots of meat between us, plenty of sides that you could replenish (including asking for an extra Yorkie). The sticky toffee pudding was delicious. Not at formal as other steak restaurants but lovely atmosphere. Great staff, nothing was too much. Will be back.

Beautiful comfortable surroundings, very knowledgeable and attentive staff but not overly pushy. Sunday roast, sides and sticky toffee pudding were amazing and great value for money, would also highly recommend an extra side of the blooming onion, nicest onion dish I’ve ever eaten. Steaks are tiny and the meat is average quality. For a steakhouse, that's a bit of a let down. What is particularly irritating is that despite the vast majority of Scotland using ounces, instead of grams, this place uses grams to make their steaks sound bigger than they are. For somewhere so expensive, I don't know why they don't bump the prices up a little bit more and up the steak sizes. Or, at the very least, have several options for size. But seriously, ditch the use of grams, it's fooling no-one. Atmosphere good though and service was average. Had an empty drink for a bit, had to flag down someone to re-order. I would really expect somewhere at this price point to be asking me if I want to re-order a drink before I run out. If you want a fancy meal and some pictures for Instagram, this is a perfect influencers paradise. If you actually know your meat, and care about quality, this place is best avoided

We love this place. We love not only food but also the stuff. They are very down to earth and do their job. If something goes wrong that make sure that you leave the place 100% happy. Highly recommend sunday roast. It is the best in Edinburgh. Excellent food.

My wife & I visited Kyloe restaurant to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary whilst visiting Edinburgh. The ambience was great and the food was very good although it was rather pricey. All in all the experience was very good

I had a sirloin on the bone ( the special on the day) and it was easily one of the best steaks I have ever had, if not the best. My boyfriend had the fillet and thought the same. The service was brilliant and atmosphere was lovely. Wine selection was also very good.

Overrated. I did write a review on Tripadvisor also which seems to not show …interesting that only 4 and 5 star reviews are there though! Whilst I did get a response to my review I would have preferred for it not to have been deleted so other diners can see a balanced view.

The steaks were excellent though fairly expensive. Lovely bottle of wine and port to follow.

Crowls (croissant buns) with a choice of delicious ingredients are just to die for - great value for money also we thought. Coffee was great and as was the helpful, friendly and efficient service. A morning visit to get a visa was much more enjoyable because of this brunch visit. Might travel there again (100 miles) just for brunch 😆

Fantastic steak meal here last night. The service and food was excellent. After a very detailed and interesting demonstration of the various cuts, flavours and textures we chose a Sirloin to share which was delicious and cooked to perfection. The mushroom, spinach Yorkshire sides were delicious and the parmesan truffle fries to die for. I wish we’d asked our waiter his name as I’d have liked to name check him here as he was brilliant. Helpful, straightforward and added to a lovely evening. Faultless.

Just finished what i can only describe as an amazing meal. Lovely venue and great music in the background. Fantastic menu and wonderfully explained by our waitress Carolina, who by the way, was fantastic throughout the evening and a credit to the restaurant. Meal wise, the steaks were right up there with the best we have had, including the likes of Hand of Flower. Fantastic meal and venue, will 100% be back on our next visit to Edinburgh. Once again big shout out to Carolina, thanks for making the meal memorable.

Was very good place to eat first time trying but was a bit awkward at times when waiting on food and staff constantly looking over at you. Maybe it’s because I was an absolute specimen of a man who knows. Great food sides were 10/10 recommend the chips with truffle oil and parmesan. Also the blooming onion is excellent. As for the the steak Aberdeen Angus can get it anywhere really. Think the sides and the service made its 10x better

Having heard and read good things about this restaurant I was very disappointed my steak was tough and poorly butchered my wife’s was so over salted as to be inedible and had to be replaced by an unseasoned one, both our steaks lacked flavour and l am puzzled as to why they had been cut in to strips before reaching our table. The side dishes were poor with the exception of the “blooming” onion which was well presented and very tasty. The service provided by the waiting staff was excellent however. I am quite prepared to pay for good quality food but I don’t think I will be returning to your restaurant.

We are from Saudi Arabia and this is our first time in Edinburgh. we have ordered oysters 🦪 ✅ Burger 🍔 ✅✅ Salad 🥗 ✅ and lobster ✅ They were all very, very delicious. The fries were also delicious with parmesan 🥵 If I visit Edinburgh again, I will definitely return to this restaurant. Very wonderful service. Thank you guys so much Unforgettable experience ✅

Underwhelming. Service really slow. Menus worn and tattered. Food lukewarm. Ribeye steak nothing like the one we were shown at the table. Had empty plates sitting in front of us for 10 minutes. Seemed understaffed. Should be doing better based on the price charged.

While the restaurant's ambiance was pleasant, our experience was terrible. We waited 70 minutes for our food with no apology or explanation from the staff. When the manager finally brought our meals, he merely stated that others had ordered before us, showing a complete lack of concern for our long wait. The disappointing service made for a thoroughly unsatisfactory dining experience. We won’t be returning and advise others to dine elsewhere. A sad end to our holiday in Edinburgh.

This was an excellent place to eat, really nice welcome and explanation of the cuts that were on offer. It tool well over an hour to get our food but we didn’t mind. And a lovely wedding anniversary gift from the staff at the end

Very overpriced steak for the taste and quality. Servers didn't pay much attention to customers, except to do their performative show of the meat.

Food quality, wine selection and ambience are on the high end. And so does the price. Service was okay. We ordered a bottle of wine and didn't finish. When we wanted to bring it out, the waitress told us that it is not allowed due to restaurant's license. We should have been told or reminded when we ordered a bottle. Servers were also not very attentive too.

We were sat in a cold table away from everyone and when our meal finally arrived the sirloin was small and not cooked to how we had ordered it. The root vegetables were small dry and tasteless and the roast potatoes were boiled potatoes that had been lightly flashed. They took the steak away and glazed it to cook it further and offers more vegetables as by now the others had gone cold. However after 10 minutes they hadn’t appeared so went to ask where they were they finally arrived and were much better than the first batch but by now we were really passed eating. Very expensive very disappointing meal despite raising our issues weren’t offered any apology’s or compensation so will be posting this on trip advisor

Would highly recommend Kyloe to anyone. The whole experience was exceptional. The roast dinner was outstanding, one of the best we've had anywhere. Presentation was great. The service was fantastic. Facilities are spotless.

Highly recommend a visit to Kyloe Gourmet Steak Resto. The staff were very professional and pleasant. The food was top notch, thank you on both accounts. It is very unusual to find a good eatery these day and myself and my wife both do not mind paying a little extra if the service and food are top class, as this place is. Only constructive criticism is that the plates were not hot enough and the food cooled down very quickly. Something easily fixed with 'hot plates'. Thank you all and see you again for sure :-)

I've eaten here several times and it never disappoints. The service levels are good: polite, helpful and attentive staff and, of course, I wouldn't take my latest date there if the food wasn't good. I6's quite pricey, but, you get what you pay for, in the mian. In addition, it's a date filter, if she doesn't fancy a steak restaurant, she's a veggie or a vegan and automatically hits the self-reject button.

If you love Meat. This is the place for you. Excellent.

My wife and I visited Kyloe for the Sunday Roast. The vibe was cozy and relaxed. We had a window table with a great view of the Princes Street, which we enjoyed. The service was on point and the staff were friendly. In my view, it is important for a fine restaurant to not have an overwhelming atmosphere or give you a sense of pretentiousness. Kyloe did great in this regard. The roast was tasty and done just right. The sides were also well-presented and not submerged in fats, which some restaurants do. We pretty much enjoyed everything (sauces, Yorkshire pudding, blooming onion, etc). The dessert was particularly delicious. We liked the fact that the toffee was served separately so that you could adjust the level of sauce on the cake. My wife is very picky about dessert, and she said this is the best sticky toffee pudding I have had 😊 In the end, the staff were also kind enough to present us with complementary sweets for our special occasion.

We were at the Kyloe celebrating our wedding anniversary. We had the beef shin and haggis starter, porterhouse steak to share and strawberry meringue for dessert..... delicious, service fabulous we will definitely be back.

Enjoyed the food - goats cheese starter was lovely if a little expensive. Steaks were cooked well and all nice presented but fairly average overall unfortunately.

Meal was really good. Only one option for sparkling wine and not either prosecco or cava.

The staff performed to the high standards I have become used to seeing there even though I arrived there an hour prior to the booked time. (I had rung some time earlier to say I might get there early at an unknown time so had kept the booked time as the original). The timing helped me later in the day as I caught a tram out to Leith to get a few photos as I walked back along the line. After I'd gotten on a tram headed back towards the City Centre, it started to rain slightly. Inside the bus station I could see that it was raining HEAVILY. I didn't know the bus route back to Fort William (yes, F.W.) but soon found out to my surprise that it picked up passengers at Edinburgh Airport and that it would pass by Kilmahog. YES, I did get a video of some hairy coos as the coach flashed by. As I had guessed the driver on the bus from Glasgow as I boarded it at Tyndrum was the same one that had given me the bus times for that day. So my time at Kyloe's became a part of a very good day.

Best steak restaurant in Edinburgh. My husband and I enjoyed a great porterhouse steak to share. The service was fantastic and they explained all the cuts of meat and how best to have them cooked, great information and great porterhouse steak served to us. We will definitely be back.

Very good food and atmosphere in the heart of the city.

Overall great lunch experience. The steak was beautiful and the fish delicious. It was served very beautifully. Initially we arrived early and they accommodated us at an earlier time. Service was lovely however just at the end of the visit it was busier and it took about 10/15 minutes to get someone’s attention to get the bill and pay. But overall recommended.

Fantastic food and lovely service. Wine is pricey - but same throughout Edinburgh - and we managed to choose one at a reasonable price that was delicious. Highly recommend the Steak me Out deal as the chateaubriand was amazing and we really enjoyed the truffle Mac and cheese 😋

We enjoyed a fantastic Sunday Roast! Everything was cooked to perfection, the great variety of sides, the meat, and the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Only downside was that we didn't make the reservation on time (till Friday) for the Sunday Roast deal, so it was a little more expensive when we made the reservation Saturday, but that's on us and I totally understand this policy.

This restaurant was booked for us by our hotel and it was great. George was our server and he was amazing . The food, the service, the drinks were all wonderful. The people were so friendly . The manager/ hostess was very kind and was able to get us in even though we were early for our reservation . She also came by to give us tips on our next destinations . I highly recommend this restaurant .
