We visited as walk-ins and were initially told by the hosts that there was no availability. However, when we checked online, we found multiple time slots open within the next 15 minutes. We booked a table through the website and returned, only to be told again by the host that we needed to wait those 15 minutes because the table wasn’t ready yet. Shortly after, another host approached us, checked our reservation, and informed us that the table was in fact ready, and we could be seated immediately. It was confusing and poorly managed from the start. We ordered the Sunday roast along with an additional portion of shrimp for £11. When the dish arrived, they served us just three tiny pieces of shrimp. Having dined here before, we knew this wasn’t how the dish used to be. When we asked about it, the staff rudely responded, “Eat the three shrimps, yes, it’s £11 for that.” The attitude was dismissive, unprofessional, and completely lacking in basic customer service. As returning customers, we were incredibly disappointed. This visit turned out to be one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had in Edinburgh. Between the disorganized service and rude staff, we won’t be coming back. Would not recommend.

BEST RESTAURANT & STEAK OF MY LIFE. The difference between eating and DINING is here. Food: Ox cheek croquettes while we waited were delicious. Full of flavour with a fantastic sauce and FRESH veg garnish. I ordered the off menu Ribeye (med rare) special with redwine and blue cheese sauce. The steak was HEAVENLY, my eyes rolled. The sauce was incredible. My brother in law had the fillet with garlic butter amd chips. Quote of his meal was "they are just chips, how are they that good" I ordered the corn brulee, which is prepared at your table side. The whole experience was amazing as was the taste. Staff: All very friendly, polite, attentive, efficient and professional. 10/10 experience can't wait to visit Edinburgh again.

I returned here a short while ago with my partner for my birthday. The food and service was just as I remembered it. We arrived a little early and the table selected was still in use so the host offered to seat us in the bar area temporarily and get us started off with a drink - this very small wait was worth it as we got seated at a window table with a lovely view of Princes street. Shortly after being seated we selected our choice of steak knives and ordered, we opted to share the Taste of Hardiesmill which gives you 3 beautiful cuts of steak, alongise this we got beef dripping chips and the whisky and peppercorn sauce, all of which was cooked to perfection. For desert I chose the s'mores which was amazing. The staff also brought out a board with complimentary treats with it being my birthday which was a lovely touch. After being back for the second time I cannot recommend this place enough. It is expensive but for the quality of food and service you get, and as a treat for a big occasion it is well worth it.

Came here for my birthday meal as I am huge steak fan. We had an excellent seat in the corner so it felt intimate without feeling like we were out of the way. Food was excellent - all the way from the steak itself to the sides. I also loved the fact that you could choose your own knife which was a very unique experience. My only critique was that we mentioned it was my birthday in the booking form, and it was on the receipt as well, but it wasn't mentioned at all otherwise - I wasn't looking for it to be mentioned as I only found out after our visit that my fiancé had put it down, but made me feel like they didn't take any of the booking notes seriously. Didn't affect my memory of the place though or the food, so would highly recommend!

Appena entrati l'impressione è stata positiva, ma dopo qualche minuto ci siamo resi conto che in un tavolo vicino, quattro persone ridevano sguaiatamente parlando ad alta voce e il personale non è intervenuto. Non si può tollerare un atteggiamento di questo tipo, se non avessimo già ordinato, saremmo andati via. Il servizio è stato all'altezza e il personale gentile, purtroppo però la qualità di quello che abbiamo mangiato non ci ha soddisfatto. Bistecca, patatine e salsine? Meglio mangiarle altrove. Non ci tornerei e non mi sento di consigliarlo.

My girlfriend and I visited Kyloe for my birthday and we had an amazing experience from start to finish. Everything was perfect - the food was absolutely delicious and we couldn’t fault a single thing. The staff were warm, attentive, and made us feel welcome without being overbearing. Visited on a Sunday evening in January with my partner and had been really looking forward to our meal, particularly the choice of steak cuts and the creamed spinach. Unfortunately the experience didn't live up to other reviews I've read. We arrived on time and were told to wait downstairs in the bar as our table wasn't ready, and to 'come back in 15min'. This meant we awkwardly had to wait downstairs without drinks - there were cocktails we wanted with the meal that were only available in the restaurant area. When we went back, we felt like we were being a total nuisance when asking for our table, and were eventually seated by the host. Ordered a still and a sparkling water to start with and received warm bottles and glasses with no ice - even the tap water had ice! The explanation of the menu and the cuts of steak was great. Sadly my steak (the cut of the day) was hugely overcooked and I wasn't able to get this rectified, because no one came back to check on how the food was, and we were in a fairly secluded corner. The sides were mediocre: creamed spinach was watery, the mac n cheese not very cheesy or flavourful. The green beans were honestly the highlight of my meal! In hindsight I wish we'd chosen somewhere else for our nice meal out.

Food was lovely! Service on the other hand was poor. Garry the Manager ROLLED HIS EYES at us!! Shocking service from him. I was still picking at my main course and Garry aswell as every other staff had come to our table to see if we were finished. It was 8:30pm and there were 5 other empty tables so it wasn’t like we were being pushed out the door (we even asked if they needed this table) they said no but still multiple members of staff came to clear our plates! I was rather annoyed and made the dinner experience less enjoyable. We wanted to speak to Garry but he had finished his shift so we spoke with James who kindly compensated us. David was our main servant who was lovely explained all the steaks great and had a nice attitude.

Atmosphere was nice, service was ok but the main event… the food, was horrible. I ordered a ribeye steak, the sear was poor and quite frankly tasted how burnt hair smells. My partner ordered the sirloin and it was ok but not the quality you’d expect from a STEAK restaurant. As far as the sides go; the carrots were amazing, Mac and cheese flavourless and the chips were ok. Quite frankly I think macdonalds could have provided a better meal! Will not be back…

Confession - Im not a huge steak fan but have tolerated more than a few steak restaurants in my life, since my husband loves it. This was simply the best steak meal I have ever had. Cooked to perfection, divine sauce (red wine and blue cheese, fries and green beans that were the best I’ve ever tasted. I couldn’t fault a thing.. Staff were great, amusing and we felt ……..honest about the steak cuts. Not too much information - just enough to feel you were making an informed choice,. And the choosing of you steak knife was novel. Not cheap but a lovely place for a special meal, quality ingredients, expertly prepared. Next time my husband wants a steak restaurant, I know where I’ll be wanting to go. Thank you Kyloe!

Olives / Focaccia, then Monkfish scampi to start; Cote-de-boeuf (medium rare), beef-dripping chips, and maple-roast carrots, and a half-bottle of Malbec; Chocolate mousse to conclude. The food was excellent, the wine tasty. The restaurant looks good / toilets are spotless. The serving staff are outstanding- friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and they give just the right amount of attention, without being intrusive. I was first in, 1630, but even as the place filled up I thought it wasn’t too loud, and there is ample space between the tables. The food isn’t cheap, per se, but you get what you pay for (and you haven’t decided to go here to save money) and I think it represented “good value”. Overall, I was very happy as a first time customer, and I suspect I’ll return to try the different menu offerings.

We came as a group of friends believing this is the top steaks restaurant in Edinburgh, unfortunately, this couldn't be further from the truth. First of all, the sides and starters we tried are all good but the steaks were underwhelming for the price, they were mostly cooked unevenly or not as per requirement and they were not really flavourful except their wagyu sirloin. We also tried their wagyu burger which was really awful, more like kufta meat rather than a burger. Overall, I recommend going for much cheaper steak restaurants that actually care for the meat they are cooking, this is a prime example that even if you got the best premium cuts you can still waste them.

Delightful Three adults, we ordered the shared Sirloin Sunday Roast for 2ppl with unlimited sides. Whilst there is an option to order an additional steak for 1 or third person, as we are light eaters, the shared portion was ideal for us. Very good quality beef, the sides, pan gravy and horseradish cream all equally good. The creamed cabbage just okay, hardly touched. Leave room for dessert as the sharing Sticky Toffee pudding with ice cream is included in the price of shared Sunday roast. This dessert was simply divine! Place busy but staff attentive and service great, we are certainly happy to pay the discretionary 10% service charge. Ambience and table by the window very good. Walk-ins for Sunday Roasts not available. Popular, advance reservation recommended to avoid disappointment. TIPS: Non-alcoholic drinks available are mocktails and a couple of beers.

Went here last Saturday. Steak took 2 hours to be served and was like chewing rubber. Prices are an asbolute rip off and that was even when using a 40% discount. No joke I had a steak tonight at beefeater for £19 and it was 10x better. You want great steak? Go to Miller and Carter. One savi g grace was the waiter giving us a free serving of wine as an apology for the wait. Maybe it was just a rough night. The table next to us was not happy either

We went for the Sunday roast - a shared for two people. The steak was cooked to perfection and our specification with home made horseradish. The sides were 10/10 - we could have had refills but these weren't needed! The sticky toffee pudding afterwards was light and flavoursome. Toilets are unisex which was a little confusing to start with but was a nice inclusive touch for guests. Would absolutely come back!

We ordered the Chateaubriand to share for the main and had olives as an appetizer and Ox cheek croquettes for a starter. We ordered whisky and peppercorn sauce on the side of the steak alongside one side of chips(since the steak itself doesn't come with any accompaniment aside from a few veggies to dress the plate). All of the food was delicious, particularly the steak - it was a high quality cut of beef cooked perfectly. It was quite a large portion, so we were happy we only got one side of chips to share with it. The sauce went with the steak perfectly. The staff were really friendly and we received some complimentary focaccia with truffle butter while we waited and a few small sweet treats at the end with our bill. They asked us to choose which steak knife we wanted to use from a selection and I could see them walking around showing other customers how different cuts of steak looked to help them decide what to order. We would definitely eat here again.

A friend suggested and arranged dinner here. A first-time experience for us, I had a ribeye steak and cooked medium, we all selected different sides, so there was a great choice for everyone. I selected bone marrow gravy, which was super. Loved the chips, carrots, and mushrooms, and crispy onions were top class. Sweet with the recommended dram was quality. Service first class, knife selection was something I've never had before. House red wine was a very good quality, and the atmosphere was amazing, very busy restaurant but you can understand why. 10% service charge, which is the usual these days, all in all a great night out food and drinks wise.

Very good service. Our waiter Agne was helpful and recommended a suitable wine to go with the steak. As main course we chose Hardiesmill sharing steak, which consisted of fillet, flat iron and sirloin steaks. Fillet was the best, incredibly soft and perfectly cooked. Second time being here and it was genuinely one of the best meals I’ve ever had, somehow better than the first time around which was so good. The staff were all amazing from the front of house to our waiter to the bar staff who made us amazing cocktails and of course the kitchen team behind the scenes making such amazing food. Unfortunately we did not have good experience with this restaurant. We ordered a brunch with sirloin stake (GBP 40 per person). Bread and butter did not taste natural, bread was crumbly, butter portion was small for 2 people. Meat was of a bad quality - we literally could not chew it because of veins. In addition, it was simply not tasty - piece of meat without taste. Potato pieces were burnt from 1 side. We called for a manager, he tried to explain that we cannot chew meat because it is well done rather than because of veins! Finally we decided to leave; we did not eat anything, just tried meat. A manager tried to suggest us to pay the bill! That was refused. When leaving, we noticed not fresh, black meat in a refrigerator near the stairs. We do not recommend this place, be careful. They try to give you bad quality food and charge a premium price for nothing.

Outstanding as always. ⭐️ Real carnivor paradise.🥩 They have a great selection of beef cuts. We treated ourselves with DryAged Cote de Boeuf which was sensational. This special treatment really enhanced flavour and was phenomenal. We also tried the Surf and Turf starter which was superb🍤 Great selection of wines 🍷 Staff is really preparared, they give precious advice on the cuts of the day and also help you choose the knife 🔪. Personally I think this restaurant hits all boxes in terms of flavours, staff and sustainability. I always feel welcome and staff is genuinely nice which really makes you feel welcome and ease.🥂

Fantastic service from the initial welcome through to settling the bill. Food is outstanding with the chateaubriand being perfectly cooked to our requirements (medium/ rare). The accompaniments were good HOWEVER, we would have expected these to be included as part of the chateaubriand meal i.e. chips, sauces, onion bloomer... similar to other steak restaurants.

We travelled to Edinburgh specifically to visit this restaurant. The ambience was lovely. Staff were all really attentive and offered suggestions. We were shown a visual of the various cuts of steak available and all explanations were clear and specific. We also got 5 options for which type of knives we would all prefer. One of the items on the menu I was really looking forward to was unfortunately sold out, bit disappointed that something would be sold out by 3pm on Saturday but there were other options. We had two nice cocktails and there is an extensive wine menu It’s not a cheap meal but it was delicious All three steaks were cooked to perfection and beautiful rested. They were also very large, I struggled to finish my fillet as it was such a generous size. We chose a variety of sides and they were all cooked beautifully

Went to this restaurant as connected to the hotel in which we stayed and suggested by the receptionist. It’s pricey but well worth it. Staff are knowledgeable and helpful in taking you through the steak board and sharing recommendations. Theatrically bringing out a range of knives to choose from is probably OTT but the ribeye was the best I have ever eaten and my wife loved the fillet. Rutland Hotel guests receive a good discount which was welcome. All in all an excellent restaurant which is very hidden away but no less busy.

This has been my 3rd visit to the restaurant and it fails to disappoint every time! The food is exquisite, presented beautifully and the staff go above and beyond. The meat is cooked to perfection. The display the staff put on to ensure all customers know their cuts of meat and how best to cook it is lovely, and let’s not miss out on the fact you get to choose your weapon of distraction!! Over priced. Over £40 for a decent cut of steak with no sides. Steaks were excessively fatty for for the price / standard that should be served at that price. The meat / sauce was very cold. There wasn’t any grill tastes. Over all bland and disappointed customers.

Me and my husband came here with two friends. The atmosphere was fabulous, the food choice was great. You don’t feel rushed when ordering or when being served. There was plenty to choose from. The different steaks are brought out to you on a platter to choose from, you even get to choose your knife that you would like. We had a great evening and this is probably the best steak I have ever had. We will be back x

Came for dinner here to try the Aberdeen Angus beef. had a small issue with the server which was promptly solved by the very friendly manager Gary. Servers Monica and Olivia were incredible, extremely friendly. The sides were really good, especially the mushrooms and the green beans. overall an exceptional experience

Perfect place for fine British food and awesome drinks. Ended up going twice because it was so good! First time we had dinner and drinks. I ordered the salmon, which was delicious. Their drinks menu has lots of choices, all of them superbly crafted. Second time we went in just for drinks while we waited for the Makars mash bar reservation. It was great too!

Had a lovely Sunday lunch / tea food was great drinks took a while to come when ordered through the app but it was busy. The one let down was table 28, the pub was so busy we had to take table 27, all the time we were in the pub probably 3 hours plus they took all chairs from tables 26, 25, 24 and 1 from ours they then vaped continually, it started discreetly with one woman but by the time we moved tables to get away from it, it was most of the table, apart from the younger children, yes some of the teenagers were vaping. They got that loud that although watching man united Fulham game we had to move as they were unbearable. I thought it was illegal to smoke or vape on licenced premises but the staff walked past ignoring them maybe the licence holders or premises supervisor needs to be refreshed as to the law in scotland Mark
