Visited here today for a meal. It’s looks amazing and is in such a beautiful location. The venue is spotless and decorated to a very high standard. Everything you looked at just seemed to fit and look good. When we arrived and asked for a table we were sent to Bobby’s then we got there we were then sent back to the restaurant. We again asked for a table and was stood here for a good couple of minutes whilst the member of staff just looked at her computer screen saying nothing to us. Then being placed at what must have been a walk way for the staff I got knocked into 3 times by staff whilst sat down. We ordered the food and 2 cokes asking that one of the cokes be placed into an empty glass (no ice or limes etc)only to be brought a glass with ice and lime, again we said an empty glass please a minute later a glass with lemon was brought. The food was fromThe point of order was on our table within 4 minutes. I ordered steak and sausage pie and my partner ordered chicken with haggis and veg. Both came with mash this was microwave mash the veg was not good at all but the chicken and the pie was quite nice. The gravy for the pie was amazing. The staff I felt were trying too hard and I lost count of the amount of times our table was visited different members of staff . Would I visit here again? No Would I recommend this place sadly not. I strongly believe in first impressions and my whole visit today just did not do it for me.

No breakfast or brunch menu when I gave it a go. £5 for a breakfast roll with one choice. £2 for an additional choice meaning £7 for a bacon and egg roll (except... They won't do you an egg.) Also no Lorne. Went for the link sausage roll and it comes with butter and sauce on the side, so if you want butter you have to dismantle the roll to get the butter on. Coffee wasn't bad but the quality of both the food and the coffee is very average considering the upmarket image they're trying to present. I wouldn't go back, no redeeming features except for its reputation.

We had food in the restaurant a few times, which was really good, macaroni was amazing, although no veg with kids meals even when menu said peas. Paying the bill was awful, tried charging for other people’s meals. Then the card machine was down another night. Sat pm no draught beer or juices. Had a takeaway Sat which was a total shambles, husband seen the staff member with our order and asked him. He continued speaking to another couple, then one of them asked if that was fish and chips and he handed it over from our order 🤬 so by the time we got a new one the other food had been sitting getting cold. The pizza topping was ok, the base was so hard that the sauce was sliding off it, the fish batter was far too greasy. The staff looked stressed when it was busy, probably needed more help.

A fantastic wholesome establishment, where you are welcomed with genuine warmth. Would not go past it! Quality drinks and food.

We were so disappointed that this once fantastic ice cream shop has now changed to ‘Mr Whippy’!! No flavour selection unless you chose the tubs mentioned in the previous review. My niece chose an Oreo milkshake which was OK at best and extremely overpriced at £6! Will not be back!

Table was booked for 6:45 pm Food was pretty good. Service left much to be desired, brought water and wine. Had to open the wine ourselves? We asked for the desert menu and was pestered 3 times within 5mins if we wanted a sweet. Staff seemed like they could not get rid of us quick enough! We had to ask for the bill twice. We would not go back.

We had afternoon tea. You get two separate tea choices per person, which is nice. The detox tea was lovely. You then choose two of the cold sandwich types which will then be presented with a sausage roll and a quiche. The quiche was absolutely delicious. The sausage roll was fine. The other cold sandwiches were fine. The desserts were plentiful and included Victoria sponge, jammy dodger, carrot cake, Biscoff bonbon, Rocky Road, and some fruit. The scones were super hot and delicious with clotted cream and strawberry jam. I wish there was a little bit more options with the sandwich choices, something like a cheese and cucumber would be lovely. The portions were massive. The soup of the day was lovely. The single fruit scone of the normal size was also massive but a little on the dense side. The desserts were quite sweet. Even with removing some of the icing. You pay at the front counter. Service was pretty good. The first waitress was especially kind and nice.

Having always enjoyed meals at The Doll’s House we imagined this was a mere name change, and were drawn in by the offer of a reasonably priced set menu all day Wednesday and Thursday. Inside the decor was smart enough and the waitress pleasant. However they were unaware of the set menu offer clearly advertised outside, and then said they’d still put our meal through at that price so long as we didn’t order anything expensive ! This wasn’t easy as five dishes were already sold out by 7.30, leaving little choice. The soups were ok, as was my deer, but my wife’s ratatouille was the most ridiculous item I’ve ever seen offered as main dish- three slices of undercooked courgette, a few tomatoes swimming in a watery sauce. We skipped desserts and were presented with a bill of £72, the manager having forgotten her promise. On appeal she applied a discount, but £58 was still very expensive for an experience that could charitably be described as poor. I’d steer well clear - there is no shortage of places to eat in St Andrews.

Arrived here for lunch with only 3 tables with sit down diners , the place was deserted. Met by a pasty faced Lady who asked if we had a reservation , I jokingly stated she must be kidding as the place was empty, her reply was , if you have no booking then sorry , we are fully booked ! Please remember this place is in the middle of nowhere really so there would not be 40 people turn up in the next 30 minutes for god sake. Disappointed went into the garden centre for a look about and a coffee .. after 30 minutes went back to the car to continue our journey , out of interest I popped back into the restaurant for a look and still pretty empty , maybe another 2 additional tables taken. In short I felt the hospitality offered was zero , there didn`t need to be the attitude of " no booking , no entry " . Even though I love seafood and know their reputation for quality , there was no need for the attitude and rudeness. Hence the poor review

Travelled for two and a half hours to Balgove Larder. Extremely disappointed. Very rude staff member Kayleigh had such a disgusting attitude and management too weak to correct it. Dogs not allowed into steak barn (definition of barn in the dictionary is to house livestock) and flatly refused to be allowed to eat our food outside. I think the barn is able to accommodate 80 however 4 people in when we arrived. No explanation needed! Very overpriced and the option to eat outside at a wee van is not appealing. Visit St Andrews it’s lovely and within St Andrews on South Street is Saints. Dog friendly great food and reasonable prices
