Mitchell's Broughty Ferry in Dundee City

Found this place by chance. Went inside and was welcomed nicely. Had soup, which was leek and potato. Service was friendly and efficient. Bill did have a 10% tip on it, and I was informed of this and had no issues with it. My partner had fish cakes and enjoyed it and wished there was more as it was that tasty. Would I go back again? Definitely.

Such an amazing place and staff

Was looking forward to trying this but it was really disappointing. Food took ages to come and when it arrived it was missing parts that were stated on the menu and was luke warm. Was pricey for what it was, very basic food. Service was very slow although it was fairly quiet when we were in. Wouldn’t recommend.

Mitchell’s was awesome and Fiona was so nice and helpful. Can’t recommend this place enough for a nice coffee, roll and cake!

Only one vegan cake option in 2024 - a premade chocolate orange tart.

I come here quite often. Busy wee place lucky to find a table without booking. Very friendly service. Really good coffee and food but it can be a bit slow at times.

The staff are always friendly and accommodating, nothing is too much bother. The cakes, scones and coffee are delicious. We come to mitchells at least once a week, often more. It's always an enjoyable experience.

Ordered Pastrami sandwiches, but not as described no pickle of Béchamel sauce and not sure that the cheese was Montgomery Jack. Plus fries not hot. 2 stars given for drinks and sausage for dog which he really enjoyed!

What a hidden gem. Great coffee and an ever better selection of cakes I had the coconut and rasberry bakewell which got ruined with a delightful smile; along with an iced latte. Very friendly service. I loved the decor in here aswell. My friend had the double carrot cake and salted caramel milkshake smiled with delight the minute it took hold of her tastebuds.

Looked good so we decided to have a quick snack, ordered and what was ordered took a bit longer than imagined. Drinks arrived Then food My fault i didnt do anything but my plate was missing two items but i thought it wouldnt matter to the taste .i was wrong. It was very bland and dont think Chef could have tasted it. I then lost my appetite and left the dish alone. My wife mentioned it when paying she was reminded i should have complained at the time. The waiter then went to get the manager,but we were told he was very busy with other customers. The waiter did his best and removed the 2 soft drinks from the cheque.

I am very disappointed to find yet again there's no dairy free spread to put on my toast. I have a severe allergy to milk.Most other cafes in Broughty Ferry can accommodate this request. Unfortunately I could only give you three stars for food due to lack of dairy free options. Can you please address this issue ? I would appreciate feedback.

First time in this place and it was very enjoyable. I had the king prawn open sandwich was excellent and these were the best chips I've ever had. Definitely will eat there again.

As a family we coming to Mitchell’s in the Ferry for many years now. However I took the time and wrote a review now as I would like to praise the excellent service the shop provides and my special thanks to the Cypriot waiter who makes the experience so lovely that makes us come every weekend ❤️ Daughter loves the milkshakes and served exceptional lattes!!! Out for birthday brunch. Coffee (flat white, )came first but it wasn't as hot as I would have liked. Food came but none of the 4 meals was hot enough either. Food taken away and 2nd plates were much better. Americano coffee was much hotter as I like it. Don't know if any discount on bill, my brother paid cos it was my birthday treat.

I decided to have brunch at Mitchell's Broughty Ferry today.However, I am always cautious about eating in different establishments as I have what has become a severe allergy to dairy produce, but I am not a vegan. Imogen was my server. What an inspiring young lady. She checked everything meticulously with the chef, Mark, which included checking the rolls, etc.. I thoroughly enjoyed my lorne sausage roll in the confidence that it was dairy free. I have had so many poor experiences in other establishments when staff are ignorant of dietary requirements. Thank you, Imogen and Mark. There was a delightful atmosphere in this busy café today. Thank you, Tanya, for your care and supervision of a great team. I have been inspired to return.

Waited in cold and wet for fifteen minutes, open at 9:00, no it opens at 9:30! Why not update your website? Chilled to bone, wife struggling for breath in cold because of asthma, not best pleased. Do not know what food is like won’t be back.

Popped in for some coffee and cake on a busy Sunday afternoon. Fast friendly service with a smile from Paddy and Imogen despite what was clearly a busy spell. Highly recommend the chocolate and orange tart and great to see coconut milk offered as an option on the menu.

We visited Mitchell's as a family on 31st Dec. The place was extremely busy but this didn't affect the attentive, excellent service we were given The coffees, brunches and cakes were all delicious. Our children were treated with a really helpful understanding of their needs, which is not always a given when we're eating out. We would recommend.

First visit back to Broughty Ferry for a while. Visited Mitchell's mid-week, just before lunchtime. Tried the waffles, with bacon: delicious and plenty to eat. Lovely coffee and cakes to follow, as we sat chatting for nearly 2 hours!! Great service, as usual, from Imogen, who was joined by the lovely Rav. Nice to see see Sam back from St Andrews too.

Found Mitchell’s last time we were in Brought Ferry and had a really nice lunch. As we were coming back I planned ahead and ordered an afternoon tea which was fantastic. Sandwiches, sausage rolls, scones and cakes all top notch and refills on the teas also. The decor is nice and the seating comfortable and the staff are very attentive and very friendly. We’ll definitely be back.

Ordered 3 full breakfasts, everything on all 3 plates were overcooked and crunchy even the beans . Asked if it was possible to remove mushrooms but was told best giving the mushrooms to someone else as the chef doesnt like changes on orders. Staff front of house were nice and so was the coffee, pity about the food. Coffee was cold by the time food came.

Genuinely such a lovely wee place for something to eat. Went here for lunch with a friend. The waiters were so caring and friendly and brought me water when they noticed I was coughing. The food was very tasty, and the place looked warm and welcoming, and the cafe was very clean. Will definitely be back.

I’ve been coming here for years, mainly Saturday mornings when our daughter is at dance lessons so lots of time to kill. The coffee and bacon rolls are great, but service can be quite mixed. Often left sitting for ages without the option to order more coffee etc. even when staff are quiet. Today was the last straw when people who came in after me were served first so I had to leave. It wasn’t particularly busy and easy to serve people in order. I won’t be back. The service in the St Andrews branch is consistently good and I’ll still go there for coffee during the week.

Came in around 11.15am for a brunch - Veggie fry up/forgans fry up. Ended up waiting around 40/50 minutes for the food. We were offered coffee on the house. We accepted however also asked for a glass of water which never arrived. When we received our food after the long wait there was several things missing from our plate including veggie sausages (what was on the plate was cut up bubble and squeak), toast, black pudding and haggis. The remainder of the food given had been sitting under a hot lamp causing the food to be dry and hard to enjoy. No one came to check on us or how our food was. When we paid, the server didn't ask how the meal was, just said the price and waiting for payment. It cost £27.40. Very disappointed with service and food especially after reading the reviews.
