Bertie Mooney's in Dundee City

It was very nice. We were there twice and were even able to watch our DFB Cup game. The service was very good and the space was beautiful.

Just been in for Sunday carvery and it was absolutely lovely.

We had a really good meal here, the staff were extremely pleasant and attentive, the food came quickly, I had the steak pie, it was excellent, the meat was tender and tasty, the veg was done just right, the chips were great, the other people with me also said their food was excellent. The place has a very nice atmosphere, with good decoration and a good amount of space between tables. The cost of the meals and drinks was very good, overall we had a great meal and experience at Bertie Mooney's, I will be returning.

First rate experience here. Plenty of friendly staff with service in mind. Food was really tasty and plentiful, quickly prepared and presented. Will be back. Been back several times and food quality and service are maintained.

Nice meal .First time in a while but 😉

Phoned venue several hours prior to arrival and was told they could happily accommodate a large party however left a large proportion of our group without food. Served a meal containing gluten to a customer with a severe gluten allergy. When issues were raised with the manager, we were blamed for booking with a large group and putting too much pressure on the kitchen. Blocked me on Facebook for leaving a negative review. Manager took zero responsibility for their errors and offered no genuine apology.

My sister and I went there for a Sunday Roast. Firstly there was no one to greet us. Eventually a server came over, we asked about the Sunday roast, what meats were on offer; only to be told meat??? Had to wait for the server at the carvery to be there to carve meat for us, he was abrupt and like it was an effort to serve us. The meat was dried out but I did enjoy the veggies. When we were ready to pay the bill, we went to the reception desk as we had just seen another patron pay there. Someone from the end of the bar, shouted you have to pay at the bar. Overall a very disappointing experience, the staff need to be trained on customer service. Definately won’t be back. Such a shame!!!!!!

Good selection of food on the menu suitable for all taste's. Large city centre location

Meals are really good and you get half portions aswell if the full portion is too much. They do a carvery aswell as a selected menu, but only on a Sunday. Lots to choose from, and very good value for money. If you like pasta, then you really need to try the cajan pasta, you can add chicken if you like for an extra 3 pounds. Also has wide screen Tvs for those who like to watch the football.

Walked, met by a member of staff. We said we have just come for a drink and she said sit anywhere. So we ordered our drinks and proceeded to go to the upstairs seating. I wanted to sit upstairs as it has nice views of the ornate ceiling. But as we're proceeded up the stairs. We were shouted at half way up the stairs. You can't sit up there. I asked why and he said we open it when busy. I said I was told to sit anywhere and that's where I wanted to sit to see the old building. No way would we have ordered and paid for a drink if we new we had to sit listening to the loud TV. Not the usual welcome in Scotland

Popped in Friday with oh..had chicken jalfrazzi and butterbean chicken,,brilliant food..and staff are really great.3rd time in 2 months been in..even our Canadian cousins in June said lovely meal and big portions.Best beer is Tennetts lager out of copper cask..very strong and good taste.Will be back..

Always great food, served quick, great staff. Even when busy, you never have to wait long.

Dinner with friends. For dinner I had a salad garnish, my friend had salad with haloum cheese. The kicker: we didn't get any dressing for the salad. When we ordered, the waitress looked confused (what did they want) but wrote everything down. Of course the salad came without dressing. When we asked if we could at least get oil and vinegar from the kitchen, we were told that we didn't... Strange for a kitchen.

Went for meal with 3 sisters 3 if us got fishnchips batter was disgusting mostly fish was all batter stingy on there chips also fish was so greasy my other sister had steak pie chips she could not eat it was terrible not much meat also small bit of pastry also again stingy on there chips will not be returning

First time in this eatery/bar and it won't be my last! Excellent food & service. Had a late lunch & opted for the Flying Scotsman burger as recommended by the waitress. OMG it was fantastic & so tasty. It was also HUGE! Highly recommended. 👍🏻😋

DISAPPOINTED !!! Heard good things about this place so on Monday 13/05/24 we ordered 2 toasties which came with chips and salad.(wish i had sent it back now thinking about it ) You guys must have used the cheapest thinnest bread i have ever seen .. and it wasn't even browned very well Hardly any filling too ...chips were pealy wally and hard ..salad was a bit of a mish mash ....we did complain but it was met with a shrug of the shoulders from a male waiter. (very customer service like ....NOT..!!!) We paid the bill and again said at till about it ..all we got was ..."sorry to hear that " ??....Tip.....Try Warburtons Bread instead of that catering rubbish you must be buyin in.. Shame too because won't be back now on the basis of the food and customer service .

Fabuloso Splendido! Just had breakfast at Bertie Mooney's for the 1st time. Wow! Fabulous food, fabulous service, beautiful building. Don't go anywhere else for breakfast in Dundee. Will recommend to friends and will DEFINITELY be back.

Now been our second visit to Bertie Mooney's. And once again it didn't disappoint. It's nice to see a bar/restaurant ran how it should be. With proper well trained staff who know what they are doing. Unlike chain breweries. When we are next in Dundee you know this will be our first stop.

Waited for a beer to be poured. Pipes "weren't working" then was ignored for 20 minutes at the bar without any service without anyone saying and instead same bartender served 3 people first. Dreadful service from bartender with bandage on arm. Rude too

We met as a group and firstly the staff had no idea that our reserved area (monthly) was for us and tried to deny us the area. The staff behind the bar were rude when taking our food order, the girl basically barked at us. Dirty plates were left on tables when done. We requested music to be lowered as we could not hear our group members and were told repeatedly that the staff weren’t allowed to alter the volume or adjust the speaker closest to us, despite other patrons complaining too. Food was fine although there were items missing from the plates. We won’t be back if we can help it.

Absolutely excellent service & delicious food, this was my 2nd time here this year, 1st time for breakfast & food was superb,2nd time for lunch, the Lasagne was absolutely excellent ( best lasagne I have had in a long time) will definitely return next time I am in Dundee

My husband raved about the cheesecake so we stopped by for lunch. 1st time I've eaten there, ordered fajitas, hubby ordered salt & pepper chicken. Server was lovely, so friendly & cheerful. Food was lovely, really decent portions. Our server stopped by to check all was OK. We said we were sharing dessert so our lovely server got the biggest slice of cheesecake & ice cream! Cheesecake was delicious. Definitely going back! Place was clean, tables cleared & cleaned quickly, staff friendly & attentive Top marks from us!

I have been here before for drinks and to be honest can't fault the place on that but unfortunately that is the only praise thy will get. Firstly the staff where completely in a world of there own ( walking past our table without taking empty pints and plates). I actually saw a waitress looking into one of the many mirrors dotted about the place fixing her hair , I mean cmon! Service all around was very slow and annoying. And sadly the food was pretty poor. I genuinely don't think the chef has tasted any of the burgers he makes and they think that " big means better" . No! The burger fell apart in my hand the moment I attempted a bite and from then on I used a knife and fork to eat it. Extremely disappointed. I had to literally wave across the room to another waitress for attention to inform her we needed the bill .( Lots of other tables seemed to be getting loads of attention but us) . Paid and left. Won't be coming back . Shocking service.

Very friendly and efficient staff food was excellent.

First visit to this busy bar just off the main drag in Dundee. I nice little inter change with the pleasant young waiter about the rights and wrongs about the ideal Steak Pie presentation, This wasnt the individual dish offering , But disappointingly the beef with the added pastry slab, but this was soon ignored by the more than plentiful steak on offer... Cooked to perfection. The starter was a Chicken & Noodle Soup, extremely Noodly and a nice tang of chicken. The dessert for me was the last slice of Flake cheesecake and my friend had apple pie. the cheesecake came with a bottle of cream...it was mouthwatering. All in all, highly recommended and Young Ross was a credit to the establishment with his professionalism.

Abysmal place. Waiting staff came with wrong order, waited 15 minutes to receive correct order, by then everyone else had finished eating. Staff then blamed me for not clarifying correct dish, which I am sure is actually a waiters one job, and accussed me of lying. Very rude staff, mediocre food, massively overpriced. Would never recommend anyone to visit this place.

Name of premises changed since my last visit a couple of years ago . Visited last week with a group of friends on the early evening. The bar was extremely busy and all tables appeared to be booked. We were seated by a lovely , friendly waitress . Drink and food ordered fairly quick. Pints and wine arrived via another friendly member of staff. We all ordered the 3 course Xmas meals and were satisfied by everything on the menu. Despite the bar being so busy the staff managed to keep everyone's drinks topped up and food served in satisfactory time. Well done to the waitresses and bar staff.

All food served luke warm, even after being sent back to kitchen. Small bones in kids chicken nuggets. Nice building.

No complaints at all about the food: decent portions and very tasty. And the service was friendly and efficient. The only reason that it's not five stars is because it wasn't as Christmas-y as I would have expected in mid-December. Then again, that might appeal to you!

We booked for a meal on Sunday the 10th December I ordered 2 pints at 3.50 then one of the waiters came across to tell us to drink up as there was a private function at 4.00 absolutely ridiculous.

Love going to bertie money's for breakfast. The food is really good and you definitely leave feeling full. The staff in there are brilliant, make you feel really welcome and always willing to help. Always making jokes and making you smile and laugh, will definitely be going back.

I’ve rated this one Bcos I can’t rate it zero. The waiting staff were great, the food was very mediocre and bland, I payed £116 for a family of five and I’ve spent the night on the toilet, needless to say, I won’t be back

We were there as a business group and buffet. Superb spread but no TVs on the upper level so very difficult to watch the football 😭

I went for a meal Sunday afternoon,I asked for steak pie and vegetables and potatoes large size. They served the meal with chips I pointed it out to staff,they came back with the steak pie and potatoes small portion size. That was twice they got the order wrong I mentioned it again to another staff member they confirmed it was small size.the person just walked away and didn’t offer to exchange the meal to correct size. I just left the meal it didn’t look that hot in temperature I never tried anything on the plate.i was disappointed with the service. My parter had a meal the steak was just warm,I went to get bill for the other meal .i had to point out the other meal smaller size was sitting for about 20 mins they took it away at end never bothered asking if there was something wrong with meal. The woman behind the bar eventually took the smaller size of the bill. I will not be going there again for any meals they can’t get the order right.

Visited here with family. Decent prices, good live music, traditional and beautiful interior. Superb atmosphere.

The staff and the food are lovely. I ordered glutan free fish and chips. But something on that plate contained glutan. They told me they had separate fryer and the pickle was made form spirit vinger. I have been unwell all week. They need to take food allergies seriously. Would not go there if you are a celiac or have food allergies 😡

Lovely bar, beautiful decor, with many Dundee touches. Service was good and waiter kept popping by to ask if we needed anything. Food was good and there are small portions available and those are a decent size portions too. Desserts looked phenomenal. Well priced and comfy relaxing surrounds

Came across this place by chance and liked the menu so stayed for lunch, can't fault the food, fresh, delicious, good size portions, service was excellent, decor very tasteful and clean, we will definitely return.

Had looked in on Friday but it was mobbed. Liked the look of it so came back Sunday evening. Met at door by lovely young lad. The food was excellent- my chicken goujons, chips and vegetables was great and the steak pie was so tender- I could have had it and I am fussy!

Nice big pub. Good pints and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Busy as there was a gig on that night but the staff got us a seat which was great. Quick service too. Bottle of Prosecco £12.95 between 4 and 8 on a Friday. Can't afford with that. Tennents tank later too which was nice

Amazing food! Had salt and pepper chicken with chips totally did not disappoint!!! Ordered a side of onion rings too and they came in a large bowl with about 10 in them, great price! Lovely staff and service too, will definitely be back!

My son had his wedding drinks and food here, we had all the upstairs placed out for us, the staff were amazing, couldn't do enough for us. The food was lovely and hot, they also serve half portions for people who can't eat a lot. I would definitely recommend this pub.

Formerly a bank, listed property. Magnificent renovated ceiling and floor tiling, efficient and friendly service. Good value pub grub and a good selection of beers, lagers. Was especially happy to have choice of Italian Menabrae. Did not appreciate irritating, tinny commercial teenage pop music and the addition of the gambling machines in the centre of the pub completely unnecessary.

Meals are good portion sizes but bit pricey. Had too leave as live band was too loud

If your going for a pint as fresh as the one you receive from the Wellpark brewery, don’t get your hopes up.

Food was delicious as always, however having Kerry slamming doors, shouting and swearing at other staff members was not appreciated. My friend had to turn off her hearing aids just to make the noise tolerable. Disgraceful behaviour from her.

Good food and very reasonably priced. Guinness is good along with the tennets from the copper tanks.

Visited on a Saturday night and place was very busy.Really nice place except for trying to get a drink....not enough staff serving ...people were queing and others just walking up to each side of the bar and were getting served !!!! Think they need to put barrier in place with signs to organise it fairly.
