Tay bridge bar in Dundee City

Awful experience. Barstaff were surly, and the regulars were rude and argumentative. I shan't be going back in a hurry!

Nice unpretentious pub in the West End, friendly professional staff, welcoming. Only stopped in for one drink on way to the DCA. I had a double whisky, £6.80, great price! Can't argue with that. 10/10

Cracking bar on the Perth Road. Usual beer selection including a half and half (see picture). Plenty of TV to watch sports. Old school bar!

Have went to this pub on and off for decades. Visited on 18/06/23 and was firstly met by a crying bar maid at the bar. Apparently had a bereavement but probably should not have been working as it made people very uncomfortable. The bar looked very unkempt and smelled of the toilets. My husband said the urinals had chewing gum and foil in them and not been cleaned for a while. The ladies toilet was pretty much the same state. A couple of regulars were also commenting on the state of the bar. This used to be a great bar but the standard has deteriorated significantly in this establishment.

Old fashioned bar with good selection of beers. Does a pensioners ' drink afternoons Monday to Thursday of a nip and a half pint of selected spirits at reduced price. Lots of TV for sport coverage with noise level low.

Long standing bar in Dundee's Perth Road. Plenty of character and history. Lots of memorabilia portrayed on its walls, particularly relating to the Tay Railway Bridge from which the Bar derives its name. Decent pint at a reasonable price. Personally, I prefer the nearby Speedwell Bar (Mennies) but that's only my choice and I'm sure there are plenty of other people who would see things the other way round. 07/08/2022-Update : Bar is still, basically, as it always is and still serving a decent pint at a competitive price.

I have been using the TBB for years....however i have decided to put something on this website,,,,, It has been more noticeable that this bar does not care about customers toilet facilities ...Gents toilet has been swimming with water on occasions...and also gents private room is in a similar condition...graffiti etc.....these items have been have never been taken care of on a professional level...these items have been ongoing for approximately ..6-9 months + On speaking to bar management about things similar....the answer being 'I have told the office' However it does appear that the office management does look into the TV System ....to make sure the cash register is ongoing....in other words they do not care ? It took them approx. 6 months to put a new lock on the gents toilets.....please note ...this is not sour grapes.....perhaps i have different standards ..... THE GENTS TOILETS ARE A DEFINATE TOILET I am a 68 year old male that does not need excuses from bar personnel.. (requirements to be addressed by the coffee drinkers in the office)

We visited on a Tuesday night (2 couples) for a few drinks..There is table service at the moment-Not very busy, still took 25 minutes to get served and only when drinks finally arrived we were told cash machine was out of order so one of us needed to go out and get cash. Very disorganised!Won't go back....

El Tay Bridge Bar es un buen ejemplo de un pub espacioso y ordinario, y tiene los extras esperados de los televisores que muestran varios deportes. La decoración está en el estilo antiguo que me gusta, aunque pensé que parecía un poco desaliñado, y el servicio fue amable.Ciertamente es pub que volvería a usar, y lo recomiendo con mucho gusto. Sin embargo, desde una perspectiva de calificación, debo admitir que sufre a través de la comparación.Antes de venir aquí, habíamos estado en Speedwell a lo largo de la carretera, así que estaba muy consciente de que este pub no tiene los mismos niveles de estilo, decoración o servicio; y la cerveza no era tan buena. Sin embargo, todo estaba bastante bien, y es un lugar decente para una cerveza, pero el hecho simple es que no es tan bueno como el Speedwell, por lo que solo lo califico como promedio.

This is a proper pub , with beer served properly. No pretentions , just good beer served at a good price.

A proper traditional Scottish bar with dark wood and glass. The service was great and there was a relaxed atmosphere. Unfortunately the cask beer had run out, but the barman rustled up some acceptable bottles and we very much enjoyed our visit.

My husband and I stopped here for a few drinks while visiting Dundee. Our beers were good and the atmosphere was fun. We'd definitely go back. It's worth a visit!

Visited here in January with my girlfriend for a few drinks. Place is immaculate and the toilets as well are really clean. The lager is really good. Bar staff are really friendly as well as the locals. Will definitely be back.

No hay nada malo con este pub. El personal es amable y eficiente, la rubia está bien y no es demasiado costoso. Pero nada como lo que solía ser. Se pierde su carácter ya que el lavado de cara. Solía ser de dos habitaciones con alfombras, linóleo [no sólo para explicar a los jóvenes 'uns] y para mí no es tan buena. Si no había visto el viejo puente Tay, recomendaría este.

Bar bien aprovisionado, buena selección de cervezas y licores, ale sin embargo en mi visita el bar que apestaba a orina era claramente emanan de la caballeros a la izquierda de la barra. El hedor era hasta el grado que me quitó mi bebida así que terminado y a la izquierda. Esto podría ser fácilmente corregido con un poco de esfuerzo

Carino il locale con vista sul ponte di Dundee. Personalemolto cortese ed accogliente. Buono l'ambiente e la musica di sottofondo. Abbiamo mangiato un fish & chips non eccezionale.

Metimos en siguiendo la recomendación. Buen ambiente, buena cerveza. Trabajando en la zona así que acabé visitando unas cuantas veces. Lugar muy agradable. El único problema era noche con música en vivo, era muy ruidoso y, para ser sincero, no es tan bueno. Volvería otra vez, pero no por noche con música en vivo.

La tarde, estupendo, banda sonora Dundonian Michael eso mucho perderse típicamente surrealista y escribió un modo inteligente song llamado 'la visita de Frida Kahlo al Tay Bridge Bar'. En el bar hay un portait enmarcadas de las letras. Tomar una copa en el Tay Bridge y luego pasear un par de millas a Groucho (132 Nethergate) que es el único lugar en Dundee donde puede encontrar algunos de los CDs de eso. Todo lo que deberías propio.

An old favourite pub of mine from years ago , even met my husband in the Old Walnut Lounge !!! Now , well its spacious , totally different atmosphere and much more modern . We had a pleasant night abd nice wines.

Roomy enough if there is a crowd of you but felt the uniform one space upgrade had diminished its old world charm.

El puente es una Tay largamente establecida en la hostelería Perth Road; y a pesar se está convirtiendo en mucho más inteligente y acogedor siguiendo una renovación en 2012, se puede argumentar que es justo decir que mucho de su carácter original del pub se ha perdido, eliminando la pared interior que separados del bar y el "nogal Lounge".

Trevlig pub med bra personal, ett mycket bra utbud av wiskey. Vi var där tre kvällar och det var härlig stämning där varje kväll. Rekommenderas varmt!

Mrs B and I have visited before for food and we were looking forward to a pre match meal on Saturday. Imagine our disappointment when we realised that the fresh and homemade bar meals we had enjoyed before were no longer available as the pub has outsourced it's food delivery to Yannies??? Food is nowhere near as impressive and is now just average. Won't be rushing back. I had a piri piri chicken baguette with salad and chips. It was just chicken with Mayo, hard baguette which was overcooked. Mrs B had a baked tattie with tuna Mayo. It was just okay.

The Tay Bridge is a very traditional, heritage pub local to family of mine. It's on my must visit list when visiting Dundee. The owner and staff are always lively and friendly and there's always something extra for special occasions such as Christmas (free mince pies, bubbles etc), St Paddy's etc. They have a basic food menu with some choices being better than others... It's a place mighty worthy of a visit for a few drinks and a chat.

Atmosphere, beer range, pirces and the look of the pub all contribute to make a fine hostelry at the top of the Perth Road.

Being going to this bar since it has been refurbished and may I say! What an fantastic range of Malt Whisky. The perfect place to try a variety. The people who drink there are freindly, so getting involved in conversation is a pleasent experience. If however you prefer some quite time, then no one will bother you. The staff are freindly; some are unsure of what you are asking for and require a little distant finger guiding over the bottle lids to target the required Dram asked for. However there are a few who now their stock.All in all a great wee place and the perfect starting point to a good night out; working your way into the City Centre.

Had a wonderful Christmas meal with wine for £25 a head as a party of 4. food freshly cooked friendly efficient service couldn't ask for more. Will visit again.

It's not a bar I would normally go into as it was previously split into the bar area and a small lounge which was a bit dingy. What a surprise Mrs B and I had when we recently went in for a bar lunch. we had been in a few days earlier for a pint and were amazed by the change in the layout and decor. Anyway, lunch was homemade steak pie and veg/chips for me which was piping hot, chips were great as was the steak pie which was definitely home made. Mrs B had a sinderins burger with chips and salad. another great meal. Overall, excellent surroundings, good pub food and an excellent place to visit to watch live footie. We will be back
