I would drive the 180mile round trip just to get another steak sandwich, it was glorious! Wonderful warm place, clean toilets, efficient service and friendly staff. Food was beautifully presented. Chips were hot and crispy and portion sizes were just right. I can justify the price of the food, as it was super tasty! I also always have a soft spot for places which are truly dog friendly. This restaurant had a basket of blankets for your pooch, and I enjoyed my meal surrounded by beautiful pups and like minded folks.

As an avid Atholl fan (we spend a min of 3 weeks in the village in Nov and an min of the same in June time not including our weekend stays plus we know the owner!!) we used to love it and used them constantly in June when our baby was literally a baby he’s now 6 months and today visited for lunch and drinks to be told they “don’t heat other peoples or baby food in their kitchen” I could understand this had I cooked it myself but considering it was a pre made sealed pouch is unreal!! Don’t waste your money if you have kids go visit the perth arms or the royal Dunkeld the staff are wonderfully helpful (heated baby food no problem) and couldn’t make you feel more comfortable if they tried oh and the food is really good in them too!!

Popped in for lunch on bank holiday Monday. Surprisingly not that busy; the inside of the establishment was completely empty and the garden had a fair few people but it wasnt unmanageable. It was a lovely spot for lunch with great views of the river. However, the food was pretty shocking. I ordered the avacado and feta sandwich. There was no pesto or tomatos as described and the feta was raw and unseasonal tofu - flavourless and gross texture. My partner got the seafood basket and the calamari was missing and the other items had been frozen. I didn't get the opportunity to feedback until someone came to collect the plates because no one asked how our food was at any point. When I explained to a server the issue with the sandwich I was given a pretty half hearted apology and nothing else... I wouldn't have cared so much if it wasn't totally over priced. The whole experience was similar to that of a spoons expect no flavour and very pricey.

It has been a wet day, we met in Dunkeld and looked for a place to have lunch. We were delighted to find the bar here was quiet. As locals we have eaten in the bistro in the past. All we wanted was a nice bowl of soup. It was £5.50 but we thought it might be worth it. It really was not. Lentil and tomato soup with few lentils and served tepid in a very small bowl. We mentioned this but we were told, helpfully, that it was hot when it came out of the pot. Went to Palmerston’s for our coffee,, should have gone there for our soup. Will not go back to the Atholl. Will not recommend. Go to Palmerston’s, or the Birman Institute. Trust a local.

Ordered a vegan curry, was served a chicken curry. Sent it back and was told they had given me the wrong one as I had been given the curry meant as a takeaway. 5 minutes later given what I thought was a new vegan curry, only to find half way through having eaten it that they had just fished out the larger bits of chicken!!!! When we spoke with the manager she denied the dish was the same one and on asking to speak to the chef was told he had gone home... At 7.15pm!!! Absolutely ridiculous experience which resulted in them threatening to call the police as I refused to pay and we warned other diners what the situation was!!! Be very careful if you have food allergies/prefetences

Dropped in for a late lunch on Sunday and had some fantastic food. We had cullen skink, haggis bonbons, steak pie and the seafood basket and everything was very good. Staff are excellent. Venue is warm and welcoming. Menu is extensive and caters for all. We were in the Dunkeld area for a short family break and decided to give The Meeting Place a try, largely based on the variety of choice on the menu. We did call ahead and book, which turned out to be a good idea; we sat down around 6:30 and the restaurant was full by 7:30. Main courses were ok - bit of a hit and miss - the steak burger and Mac ‘n cheese definitely a hit. The home-made pizza and Super Green Noodle not quite hitting the mark; nothing wrong with the food, just not quite what we were hoping for... The Desserts. We should have started with the Desserts, and then possibly worked back through the menu (or just had more desserts). Both the Apple Crumble and Custard and the Vegan Sticky Pudding and Ice Cream were delicious. Would recommend if you’re in the area!

They were genuinely dog friendly and dogs allowed in eating areas. The service was prompt. When I was there the bar staff showed endless patience with a rather demanding /rude large group . They really couldn’t have been more professional . My lunch was tasty and reasonably priced . The only reason to mark down was that I was made to feel silly by one of the outside staff when it was not clear to me how ordering system worked.

I have enjoyed several pleasant lunches and at least one overnight stay at the Atholl Arms Hotel over the years but was disappointed by our most recent experience. The riverside terrace is a very pleasant addition and has to be one of the very best locations to enjoy lunch in this part of Scotland when the weather permits. Most of the dishes ordered by our party were decent but the main problem was the “home-cured gammon” sandwich at 8 quid and change that, upon arrival, turned out to be a couple of pieces of cheap processed ham in a bun (see pic) After we made a complaint, the staff member apologized and said that the substitution was made because they were out of gammon and it should not have happened. While I appreciate the apology, I think that trying to sneak a cheap replacement past the paying guest without telling them is unforgivable. I was able to choose another dish, but still had to pay the price of the sandwich upon settling the bill. I could have made more of a fuss and got the price of the sandwich deducted from the bill, but I felt that I should not have to and an appropriate response to the error would have been to cover the cost of my lunch dish. Overall, it rather soured the lunch experience, although the other food was good and the young staff member serving at the outside bar provided excellent service and was sympathetic to the situation. I suggest staff training to clarify what should and should not be done in the event that a particular dish is unavailable.

Just called in this afternoon for lunch on the outside terrace, we chose the steak pie and the fish and chips with a tea and a cappuccino to drink, have to say I feel a bit disappointed in the meal I received(fish and chips)in the menu it's described as coming with skin on fries , mushy peas and tartare sauce which implies that the fries are handcut and not the ordinary skinny frozen fries that it came with also I would of expected the tartare sauce to have been homemade and served in a pot with the meal not just a sachet like you would get in a service station cafe, think it's rather overpriced for the portion size too I also think the price of the drinks was a bit much as they are not barista made with ground coffee frothed milk etc but from a pushbutton machine at £3.25 a cup, can't fault the staff very friendly even offering to move us undercover when it started raining and my husband enjoyed his steak pie ( though his meal also was supposed to have skin-on fries), we have previously enjoyed a visit but feel this time it was disappointing and expensive.

We came to visit family and went for a drink at Atholl Arms. The man behind the bar was arrogant and cocky. He made a gin and tonic that was not a full measure. When we pointed this out he was very rude and threw it away; begrudgingly he made a new one. However was not pleasant.

We visited for drinks with family. The barman was pouring gin into a measure from a bottle and very clearly under filled the measure, quickly pouring it into a glass with ice. I pointed this out, to which he became very defensive and offered to pour it back into the measure, suggesting I bought him a drink if it filled the measure. When I pointed out that there was ice in the glass, which would of course increase the volume, he became obviously angry, throwing the whole drink into the sink before starting again. He then measured the drink in front of me, whilst asking me to watch him. He was clearly very frustrated at my pointing out his short measure, making no apology and he appeared really angry. We left after our drinks, with no comment from the barman. I have lived locally for four years, and I have never seen this barman in there before. My wife and I have regularly taken family and friends into this bar, but have never experienced such an unfriendly and unprofessional welcome in there. What a waste of expensive gin, to make a point!! What a shame from an otherwise lovely wee place.

Another "dog friendly" place, which seems to be all the rage right now. It's fine if you like dogs, but while eating there was five running around and sniffing at me. I get that the fashion is now to let dogs in, but when food is served, prehaps dogs could be kept away from diners? Or owners could remember not everyone likes smelly dogs sniffing at them? The food was pretty poor, I had the scampi and calamari basket, fish tasteless, with overcooked chips and a small portion of tartare sauce. Partner had macaroni cheese, which tasted of nothing. Sticky toffee pudding saved the day and was nice.

Between Xmas and New Year and after a long morning walk in the hills that overran until after 2pm, we were all very hungry - the Meeting Place, an annex to the Atholl Arms Hotel, was the obvious place. It has an extensive lunch menu - mostly hearty versions of soups and sandwiches but also various plated favourites with a Scottish feel. The large Cullen Skinks seemed appropriate - they were enormous deep bowls filled to the brim with piping hot, thick soup, with loads of fish and tatties, superbly seasoned. The small ones are quite large too (much more substantial than you are presented with at most restaurants where a small one is a tiny bowl or mug of soup). Probably not the cheapest but good quality and substantial portions. Very informal setting. Not a problem but service at front of house could have been more attentive/energetic in the same way as the kitchen staff were when they brought our meals to the table.

The gents toilet was out of action when I arrived but the manager told me it'd be available in 15 mins. About 45 mins later on the way out it was still out of action and no alternative available in this quite busy hotel with bar and restaurant! The manager directed me instead 200yds up the road to a public toilet where I was charged 50p for a by now much needed pee. Surely in such a large hotel a temporary alternative could have been found whilst the plumbing was repaired.

What a big disappointment after dinning at the meeting place a few years ago and enjoying it. I stopped in for a birthday lunch with my wife and girls on Thursday and have to say it was the worst food I have had for a long time. Most of the girls and myself had the Macaroni. The Macaroni was made with a white runny sauce with some cheese tossed on top and a few chips and peas at the side ( small portion ) even the two portions of onion we ordered had one inch of cooking fat left in the bowl. I have dinned at many restaurants, pubs and hotels over the past few years and this was the first time we have had to send any food back. When I complained to you young waiter he was very apologetic and we received our Macaroni half price. After we left I felt cheated as the Macaroni was rotten and I should have refused to pay. Nobody from the management came out to apologise it was left to the poor waiter who was very young and embarrassed.

Came here for tea one night during our stay in Dunkeld and had a really lovely meal-the Mediterranean pizza in particular was delicious. The staff were all very friendly and attentive and the ambience of the place with a crackling fire was just what we needed on a cold winter's night. Would definitely recommend and will be back!

We booked and took the children as staying at local dunkeld house. Food was all delicious and devoured by the kids . Children’s menu excellent value with drink and ice cream included . Excellent portion size and children’s pizza was fresh from the oven and proper butcher sausages. My husband’s steak and ale pie was delicious and my kale salad ok but more my poor choice rather than a reflection of the dish. I found it a bit soggy and odd in texture but everything we saw coming out looked delicious and we would definitely go back. Colouring and crayons for kids too which was helpful.

Brilliant evening at The Meeting Place - dog friendly and chilled atmosphere for a meal. Staff can't do any more to help. I had booked online and said that we would be taking the dog along - the restaurant phoned within 15 minutes to let us know that dogs were definitely welcome. Food is delicious, and the best bowl of olives I've had in a long time!

We popped in here for dinner on Sunday night and were very pleasantly surprised. Good menu with a vegan and gluten free menu if you need that. We had steak and it was lovely. Staff were very friendly and the meeting place has a good feel, it was busy in Feb which says a lot! I would definitely recommend this restaurant but maybe good to book in advance.

So we stopped for a bite in Dunkeld. As my wife is vegetarian we're used to her struggling to find much more than a salad, chips or mac & cheese. Imagine our delight to find a pub with a huge range of vegan and gluten free meals! She had a starter and a main, even though she wasn't that hungry, but just wanted to try lots on the menu. A great find that will draw us back again.

Had lunch here today and the beetroot and asparagus risotto was delicious. Washed down with Caorunn gin and Fever Tree tonic. Perfect lunchtime treat. Staff were friendly and happy to pass on good suggestions for local attractions.

The burgers are great, and the dip/bread selection and sticky toffee pudding are even better! The staff were prompt and attentive and the atmosphere was nice and casual. It's great to come across somewhere so nice with a really good-quality selection of vegan options (including a proper dessert), let alone having the vegan menu right on the back of the standard menu so we didn't need to specially request anything (I am vegan and my partner is vegetarian). The chefs really know what they are doing and the food was delicious. We will definitely return and I 100% recommend to anyone in the local area or looking for a day out.

We popped in for lunch after a walk, having heard that there were vegan options. We were delighted to find a full vegan menu with tons of choice - everything we had was delicious. Service was very friendly and efficient, and we got a cosy seat by the fire with our dogs who were also made very welcome. Couldn't fault it at all, will return and have already been spreading the word on vegan groups!

Ordered the egg mayo sandwich with soup for £10...expecting thick pieces of brown bread with the egg filling spilling out out the sides for that price... Bread nice but where was all the egg mayo filling?!! About as generous as a basic sandwich from a supermarket. Filling tasted good as well so was very disappointed in this. Should take a leaf out of one of your competitors further down the street (who was #1 on trip advisor at time of writing this) having had a similar lunch the day before for less cost AND more filling! You can sense my regret that I should have just gone back there instead of trying out somewhere new and different!

Nicely cooked food and staff were friendly. Really good puddings. We had a dog with us so we were in the rear room and this was my only criticism. It was so cold in there even the people in front of the fire had their coats on throughout. After 90mins we couldn’t feel our feet. The fire was on but ineffective. Probably why staff hung around the kitchen so much.

We went here two nights in a row. The first night we came for a drink, bar staff was super friendly and regulars at pub were very welcoming. We asked if they could put on formula 1 on tv and they were happy to this .

The Meeting Place is a comfortable bar (did not dine on this occasion), with good beers and congenial staff, in pleasant surroundings. One to be remembered for sure.

Having looked at the modern-style of the decor of this bar, my inbuilt traditionalist prejudice almost demanded that I wouldn't like it, but we actually found it to be a perfectly nice place to have a beer.

This is the Bistro restaurant which is part of Atholl Arms Hotel in Dunkeld and it didn't disappoint. I had the haggis neaps and tatties to start followed by the sirloin steak which was cooked to perfection and very large. Highly recommend this as an eating option whether staying in the hotel or just dropping by!

What a find! The range of menu's offers fantastic choice from the usual favourites menu to a vegetarian menu, vegan menu and gluten free. The food was fantastic; flavoursome and well presented. I have already been in contact with friends to tell them about this gem of a restaurant in the idyllic setting of Dunkeld. Highly recommended!

We had a meal here on the first night of our trip. It is really nice and friendly, close to the river and the food was really good. We had macaroni, and fish and it was really tasty. I'd recommend it. Price was reasonable too.

My husband and I visited for dinner. I had a pizza which was a touch salty but delicious nonetheless. It's a really nice restaurant and the staff were very friendly. Only one downside is that my husband ordered a drink which never arrived and by the time we managed to speak to a staff member we had finished eating. However when we brought this to the attention of the waitress she took the other drinks off our bill. It was only a minor issue and certainly didn't make a big difference to the meal itself,Would recommend visiting if you are in Dunkeld.

Went for lunch yesterday with my parents and dog on arrival our table was clearly marked ours and there was already a bowl of water awaiting my dog I thought this was super sweet and thoughtful, the waitress we had was brilliant with my wee Jack Russell she gave him a few biscuits and attention he loved it. Service was quick and the food as always was delicious. Lovely warm welcoming place to eat out and we always choose here when we go for lunch. Great menu lots of choice.

We had a family weekend in Pitlochry to see the Enchanted Forest. We fancied a takeaway, but to get 13 of us to agree on what we would get, we ended up getting meals from three separate restaurants. Option two was The Plaice to Be. The usual Chip Shop favourites were available, plus Burger Box and Sharing Box items. There are a limited number of gluten-free options also. Prices were on par with similar local takeaway outlets. We received our telephone order at the time arranged and enjoyed our meal

We were enjoying a nice drink in the beer garden one sunny afternoon, when a youth started shouting & swearing at us because we were English (which was funny in itself because none of us are 100% English). The locals were appalled at his behaviour & the landlord immediately ejected him, however, it cast a shadow on our visit.
