This would definitely be a five star from us in the past, however we are a little concerned now that the hotel has been taken over by a larger group of hotels. We have been coming here for over ten years, and the hotel and owners have always made our stay very special. They were a tough act to follow. We were a little concerned knowing they were planning to leave, so on our most recent visit enquired as to what the current situation was. The staff are all the same and so is the chef, so thats good, but there were quite a few little things missing that we had noticed. In addition, on one evening a course was not available ( even though the hotel was quiet ) plus three different wine choices were unavailable. This never happened with the previous owners. Sadly, when a group take over a hotel, it loses the personal touch, and we are concerned the bean counters will change it a bit more over the coming months. We will keep an eye on here for updates and other comments before considering our next visit, but sincerely hope it stays unique.

This place is clean, tidy and a pleasant to be in I would recommend it highly. We only went for a coffee but the food being served looked delicious

We had an excellent lunch at the Loft. Nice food and good service served by the owners. Starters and main s all good and well presented and very tasty.

Nunca hemos tenido algo más que de las comidas excepcionales en una gran relación calidad-precio, es una pena que no viven más cerca. It pains me to write this review as I had high expectations. This was a 90th Birthday meal for my mother who had fond memories of lands of loyal. On arrival we were not welcomed we took ourselves in and sat in the cosy lounge. A young auburn haired lady came up to our party and said "do you want a drink !" Very abruptly and without the hint of a smile like we were all a bother to her. Drinks arrived with the food Menus and then around 3 minutes they came back to take the order we asked for more time which was answered with a tut! Anyhow ordered our meal and were taken through to dining room no water offered we had to ask. No wine list had to ask. No drinks offered with our meal had to ask. Then some of our party were still eating their starter when the waiters removed them to bring the main course shocking! A rest between courses would have been nice. There was a shortage of wine glasses had to ask again! Dishes were removed from the table while some people were still eating. It really was like Faulty Towers ,staff did not appear to have been trained in customer service. Lastly we relaxed back in the lounge and ordered more wine, which arrived warm ! Asked the waitress for a cold bottle to which she replied they had none but would put the bottle in the freezer!!! This was meant to be a memorable experience for my mothers 90th, we did complain and asked to speak to a manager but was told they were not in the hotel that night there was no management! Considering this was costly as taxis from Dundee and back and mediocre food was very disappointing

Best fish and chips we’ve had. It’s a family run joint, staff is super friendly and accommodates any dietary requirements. Would definitely visit again!

These guys did the catering for our daughter's wedding recently. They were so good. We were given sample meals to try before finalising the menu and both were delicious. They were highly organised on the day and the service was first class. Thank you Giraffe cafe!

Good selection of takeaway food and great homebaked cakes. The staff are lovely and engaging and make you feel welcome.

We had one of our best meals of the trip at Sandemans. All of the dishes were delicious, but the whole experience was even better because the sommelier was so knowledgable and took our meal to a whole other level.

I had the pleasure of lunch at Number 63 on Saturday. We opted for the surprise menu and it did not disappoint! The most beautiful and tasty bowl of parsnip soup with garnishes and oil drizzled (quite beautiful to look at, even better to eat!), then a game samosa and curried bulgur wheat followed by mouth melting beef cheek with truffled butter beans and crispy leeks, then a trio of inspiring chocolate themed deserts including the most delicious honeycomb chocolate tart, and ice cream with a coconut tulle. Super service plus an elegant atmosphere with local artworks displayed on the walls made this a very satisfying experience.
