Nice staff and service, and good location with a car park. Food was just okay, not the 5 star standard reviews suggest - but the restaurant was exceptionally busy.

Enjoyed a lovely tasty lunch at this friendly little cafe. Food - I had the Lentil soup with a cheese scone - was delicious. Service was spot on. The two gentleman serving were welcoming, friendly and genuine. I loved that they paid special attention to their regular customers referring to them by name and being attentive. An absolute gem of a place. Well done to all who work there.

We had one of our best meals of the trip at Sandemans. All of the dishes were delicious, but the whole experience was even better because the sommelier was so knowledgable and took our meal to a whole other level.

Super impressed. We were a walk-in due to being late into the city. Parking was super easy. The parking machine was a little antiquated, but it did the job. Service was lovely. The cauliflower soup had interesting touches with the onions, turmeric oil, toasted nuts. The veal Oso Buco cottage pie was so delicious. The layers of flavor in a smaller portion was just delicious. Same thing with the chicken with asparagus. Super flavorful. Barley risotto made it a more substantial portion. The cod loin over spaghetti carbonara was also super flavorful and tasty. Definitely a high class high-quality restaurant!! It is normally four courses for 44 pounds however we were able to do a smaller version since we were not prepared to do the four course tasting. However, in hindsight, I wish that I had not eaten breakfast so that way, I could’ve eaten all four courses!!!

We’ve long considered this restaurant a benchmark for quality, and on this visit, the food and service did not disappoint. The kitchen continues to execute dishes with finesse, each plate showcasing good technique and well-balanced flavours. Service was polished, attentive, and welcoming — hallmarks of a well-run establishment. However, we left feeling deeply disappointed, not because of what was on the plate, but because of what we paid for it. Prices have escalated dramatically since over the 20 years we have visited, to a point we now feel it is unreasonable. A £3 course £120 dinner menu is accompanied by various supplements, not least £8 for each small vegetable accompaniment and service of 12.5%. A particular sticking point was the £55 supplement for Dover sole and £40 for Beef Wellington — a charge that feels excessive, even when factoring in quality and sourcing. These were well-cooked pieces of fish and meat, but priced at a level that borders on absurd, as a supplement to a 3 course £120 menu (note not an extra course, but an extra cost to the main course in the 3 course menu). Fine dining will always command a premium, and we’ve never hesitated to pay for excellence. But there’s a difference between a splurge and a squeeze. Sadly, despite the kitchen’s continued high standards, the experience was overshadowed by a creeping sense of being taken advantage of. We’re not sure we’ll return — not because it isn’t good, but because it no longer feels worth it.

4 of us went for lunch on a Thursday. Staff were attentive and service was swift. Cosy and friendly place. All the food was freshly prepared and excellent in presentation and taste. Special mention for the pork loin special. It was very tasty and cooked to perfection. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious and light. Reasonably priced and good value. Will be back more often.

A fantastic brunch today. I had been given an itison voucher for my birthday for 2 brunch dishes and either 2 hot drinks or non alcoholic wine. We opted for an Americano and a tea, fantastic big cups, and an apple juice for my son. Ordered the Gourie Goucho and the travelling Scotsman for eating and my son insisted on Mac cheese which the kitchen were very accommodating with, even at 10am! All food was delicious and you can tell the quality in the ingredients as well as the banter. A fantastic place, where you you wait for quality fresh food. Brilliant, quirky spot.

The location, the restaurant, the staff and the food are all excellent. My partner and I had a truly wonderful Sunday lunch and each dish (cheese souffle, John Dory and blueberry pana cotta) worthy of 10 out of 10. scores. My only concern is that the 25% increase in the price may deter future customers.

Went in today as passing through staff were lovely ordered a turkey salad roll costing £4.45 got back to the car and it was shocking one thin slice of turkey loads of lettuce and onion. I know people have overheads but that’s just robbing people I was absolutely disgusted. Won’t be back!

This is a hidden gem in Perth. Beautiful setting, impressive building with attentive, friendly service. The menu had some intriguing specials along with panini, soup and sandwiches all very well presented. Prices as you would expect for this sort of fare. Lunch time booking would be recommended although coffee and cake in the courtyard would be a lovely alternative.

Food was disappointing and was mainly all from a freezer and warmed up in the kitchen and plated, frozen chips, frozen peas, frozen scampi the haddock was a little better but still nothing out of the ordinary. I had expected more after reading the reviews of this place. My wife felt similar about her meal as well. Disappointed.

Me and my partner were visiting the area from North Yorkshire for the week, we struggled to find some good local pubs which had a menu that popped out and that welcomed our furry friend! After discovering the Pitcairngreen inn, we were pleasantly surprised, upon first glance the pub looks a touch deserted from the exterior; but we put this down to the gloomy day and damp weather. After walking through the door we were greeted by a lovely young man who was more than happy to assist us and get us seated at a table and give us some time to review the food and drink choices. The food, what can I say other than superb! We were both flabbergasted as the quality of the food, we ordered the Nachos to share as a starter; accompanied with cheese and fried chicken, and what a treat, all homemade by the looks of things, the portion size was large but it was devoured nevertheless! To follow for main, we enjoyed a steak and ale pie and a Sirloin steak, cooked medium to rare. And I can comfortably say, it was cooked to perfection and accompanied by the best homemade Parmesan chips for the steak and homemade fries for the pie. To finish we devoured the homemade fudge sundae, topped with homemade ice cream and hand whipped cream! Perfect presentation! I finished off with a dark chocolate cheesecake accompanied again by their very own homemade vanilla ice cream! To top it all off, a very pleasant experience and service received from the staff on a whole. Special compliments to the young gentleman behind the bar whom served us this evening and the chef(s) who prepared such mouthwatering courses. Tim, Becki & Betty!
