The best restaurant during our stay in Scotland. The chef worked in France and this can be felt in his kitchen. Their chocolate desserts are delicious. In addition, the welcome is excellent.

Food was truly fabulous. We had two fantastic pasta meals and the lemon desert tart was just out of this world! Staff and service excellent and they were brilliant with our pug, Hercules. My husband and I were recommended this place by our b&b and honestly the Anglers has the nicest food and people we met the entire week we were in the area. We didn't have a reservation but they were happy to seat us, the staff and owners were so friendly and excited that we were on our honeymoon that they made us a special dessert plate for our one week anniversary. The food was excellent, everything is made fresh on site and tasted like it. I was very impressed with the cleanliness in the ladies toilets and selection of feminine hygiene/baby changing products freely available for anyone that might need them, it was a very considerate thought. We would absolutely go back and hope to keep in touch.

We broke down outside this establishment today while delivering. They offered us to come in sit while waiting for the recovery. They were amazing hosts and looked after us more than expected. Unfortunately we have to give a very bad but honest review of our first and last visit to this restaurant. We visited on Mother’s Day ( carvery) Set price £24 adults and £5 kids under 5. Disaster. No bread on the table for soup until we asked for it. Soup tasted like packet soup! Main meal. Three choices of meat which were okay. The veg, where do I begin? Aunt Bessie’s roast potatoes and disgusting. Carrots were definitely frozen as they were rubber and hard to taste. Cauliflower was okay and peas. No Yorkshire pudding when I went up? Gravy and that was that! Certainly not enough veg to choose from . Desert was worse. Tiny meringues filled with cream. Slices of cake and once again was not replenished! According to the owner there was apple pie etc but I did not see any at all! The owner was hugging and greeting all her friends on leaving but we left without any acknowledgment at all. A disgrace! On messaging the owner to explain and give private feed back as I didn’t want to be unkind by highlighting it on trip advisor. She replied back stating they had deaths in the family and illnesses etc. Not sure how this connects with bad quality food ? Meant to also mention the crockery was like school dinners? This is only our opinion and it’s a very honest opinion. We would never set foot in this establishment again ! You don’t deserve to get trade. Donna H

This place is closing because the owner has been unable to get customers and has decided enough is enough. It must be difficult because it's out in the country and beer and food are cheaper from the supermarkets I guess. The owner has tried by putting on a few events that weren't very well attended because unfortunately he sent a whinging letter to everyone in the village saying it was the residents fault his business was failing because they weren't supporting him. Eh?, no wonder no one will go to the place lol, no matey, it's entirely YOUR fault. Nothing interesting about the venue, overpriced and dull. The locals hate it.

Absolutely lovely little place to stay if ur looking for a quiet getaway in between Blairgowrie and Perth. Although I will say Buses are every 2hrs which isn't good if u didn't want to drive! Taxi service is not that great either but on the good side it's about a 10min drive to Scone Palace if u fancied a day at the races..about half an hr to Blairgowrie and 15mins to Perth all by car! Hotel itself serves Breakfast lunch and Dinner and wld advise booking prior..it has about 4 rooms so not too busy but always busy on the food side! Rooms are on-suite and clean so always a bonus. Hotel itself is run by Owner Ryan and his Mum Linda helps out a lot..Absolutely lovely people and will help in any way they can..staff are so friendly too (lovely girls) Hotel has a Bar which is great but does close rather early if Hotel isn't busy which is understandible! There is no shops around so bring what u need if not planning on going anywhere while there..Price is reasonable for rooms so yeah check it out and see for urself 😊

3 visits over the past few months and unfortunately every visit I was met by either bad food or poor service. On one occasion it was both. The blonde waitress wasn’t very pleasant and made us feel awkward when we asked to simply move table. We were rushed through our meal as the kitchen staff were due a break, unsure why they would allow us to book a table to close to the time where they close the kitchen. We booked for Christmas Eve and sadly again were met with unacceptable behaviour, staff standing at the door with their coats on having turned the Christmas tree lights off, I’ve never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant…….I guess it was time to leave!!!

We visited the Anglers Inn on Friday 11th Feb, our booking was at 6pm. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table (next to a radiator so nice and cosy!). My boyfriend ordered the steak pie, and I had the fish combo (a small piece of battered haddock with scampi too). The food arrived quickly, was piping hot and freshly cooked, can't fault it! We both remarked on how good the hand cut chips were and my boyfriend rated the steak pie a strong 4.5 out of 5! The fish was delicious, well cooked and great to be able to have a combo. We had room for dessert, I had the banoffee pie, and he had the cheesecake, both were phenomenal, the cheesecake was light and sweet (had to try!), the tablet was delicious. The banoffee pie was the best I've had and the ice cream accompanying each dessert was lovely. Throughout our visit the service was friendly, efficient and not over bearing, we had everything we needed. My only minor feedback, and this could just be me, but the bell to let the staff know the food was ready was a bit loud, but I can understand that needs must later in the evening when full.Overall a lovely meal in a warm, clean, welcoming setting, we'll definitely be back - thank you.

Visited The Anglers Inn for dinner with a friend. We had not booked a table but called and managed to get a table for us at a good time. After a short drive to get there we arrived, parking is at the rear of the property. As is the main access to the inn. All covid protocols in place in the restaurant of the inn which is good to see. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived. Staff were friendly and welcoming and showed us to our table. Track and trace in place, menus offering a fair array of dishes for each course. We were given time to look at the menus and had our drinks orders taken. Ordering our food was straight forward, we both ordered the garlic mushrooms for our starters. The mushrooms were lovely but not outstanding, maybe a little thicker garlic sauce but that is my personal preference. The main meals, I ordered the lasagne and my friend ordered the roast beef dinner. After a short wait we were served our meals. My friend was disappointed with the roast beef dinner, a little lacking in some foods you would maybe link with a Sunday Roast. Maybe a few brussel sprouts, cauliflower cheese etc could be added to bulk up the presentation. My lasagne was nice but a lot of oil in the dish which took away from the taste. I did not finish it all. We ordered dessert, both of us had sticky toffee pudding. The dessert was very good. The staff are lovely, the restaurant and inn is too but although the food was fair to good, it could be better. It is constructive feedback. I would return and try some other dishes, to make a final comparision from our first visit.

In the room the shower did not work and the bathroom door did not close. When this issue was raised the response was unacceptable. There was no other suitable room and so in our opinion a small reduction in price would have been appropriate but to brush the incident aside by saying that because the customer (an 18 year old, non confrontation boy) wasn't too fussed is verging on dishonest. I spoke at length with Ryan and it was obvious that his principles are very different from ours. Only book if you can accept any problems may not be dealt with appropriately.

Located a few miles north of Perth the inn is situated on a fairly busy but not intrusively noisy main road. It is particularly convenient if you are visistiong Scone Palace. We had requested a room with a walk in shower and were allocated the only room with this facility which was a large and comfortable room.Unfortunately there was a problem with the hot water supply to it- but what counts when problems arise is the response - which was excellent. We were immediately offered an alternative room which, as it was for one-night only, meant the absence of the shower type was not a major problem. They offered to move our luggage etc for us. The 'new' room was smaller but of a perfectly adequate size, very clean and with a great bed. We ate in the hotel that evening and the food then, and for the morning breakfast, was of good quality and nicely cooked and served. The standard of hospitality throughout was excellent and the observance of COVID restrictions by staff provided a worry-free stay. We shall definitely stay there again if we venture north.

We decided the Anglers with their very appealing new menu would be just the thing for a midweek meal out - who wants to be cooking and washing dishes during their holidays after all? It was great to be welcomed back! Easy decisions made about our food choices as there was something for everyone. I was delighted with the chicken madras and tasty accompaniments, and the biscotti cheesecake was delightfully creamy and light. The fish dish, steak pie and macaroni went down very well with the rest of the family too, and getting the elder teenager to drive meant mum and dad could sample one or two drinks too. Great selection of gins! Thanks again to Ryan and Linda for a lovely evening.

Three generations visited this pub/restaurant recently for lunch as it was a convenient stopping point. We ordered a child's meal first and to give credit, the meal did arrive promptly and was ok apart from a comment from the little one as to why the chips were so brown! Our meals took such a long time it took our short stop to an extended one. Food was pretty average, not cheap so a great disappointment. Nothing to make a formal complaint about though.

Had a great Sunday carvery meal at The Anglers Inn. Soup or/and Pate to start; Unlimited Turkey, Ham (Glazed or unglazed), Pork, Roast Beef (offering well done, medium or rarer cuts), Chicken Goujons, Black pudding in a light batter, all the veg you could hope for; hot and cold desserts topped off a wonderful meal. Friendly staff enhanced the experience. All for a very reasonable price. Will definitely return.

I have to start by saying I didn't even know the village existed far less this little gem.We were out a drive needed sonewhere for the loo and maybe some late lunch/early dinner and stumbled upon the Anglers Inn.With a large car park to the rear it certainly has that doorstep appeal a lovely looking building which just felt inviting. As it turned out we were the only diners ( it was a midweek late afternoon, ) this can in some places mean the service is too quick or too fussy, not here a friendly welcome suitable time to look over an impressive menu and enjoy a drink & appropriate time between courses. The food was delicious and they absolutely don't skimp on portions, freshly cooked and piping hot , 3 courses coffee and drinks later and at no time did we feel pressured to leave the hospitality was excellent On a side note although important one this is a dog friendly venue that provides towels to dry off your muddy wet four legged friend ,fresh water and treats for good dogs. I'd have no hesitation returning.

Another great night at the Anglers! Met up with friends for a meal and catchup and the Anglers hit the spot on both counts. The steaks were very popular at our table and were cooked to perfection, and the delicious homemade chocolate orange cheesecake finished off our meals nicely. The relaxed atmosphere, comfy seats in cosy surroundings with fantastic staff made sure we were going nowhere fast after our hearty meal - I was so taken with my chicken madras I forgot to take a photo - and we were happy to spend the rest of the evening sampling the superb variety of gins and enjoying catching up with our friends. Thanks again to Ryan and the team.

Great little hotel in Glencarsie, very close the the Byrne Inchyra wedding venue (5 min walk), perfect if you are attending an event there, as then you don’t have to worry about trying to sort a taxi late night! Rooms were warm, very clean & modern, shower water pressure was great. Breakfast was included and very good! There’s also a bar here, which is great for having a drinks with friends before walking over to the wedding venue. Bus to Edinburgh airport is a 10 min walk away as well, so very convenient location. Absolutely recommend this place!

Delicious home-made food, x 2 steak pie, was best I have had, loads of tender meat and plenty gravey, macaroni cheese & Katsu Chicken, stick toffee puddings & after eight cheese cake 😋 all staff friendly and attentive, busy wee country pub with a good atmosphere and I found it very reasonably priced for a meal for 4, highly recommend, we will definitely be back.

My family and I recently stayed at Fonab Castle for my partner's 40th Birthday. The hotel was lovely and the location is beautiful but we did have a few issues during our stay. I booked a spa treatment for my partner for Saturday 2nd Nov at 10.00am. My partner arrived just before 10am to check in and was asked to take a seat until her therapist arrived. At 10.30am my partner decided to come back to the room as the therapist had not shown up for the appointment. We did receive a phone call later in the day to come back for a treatment but we had already left to go out for the day. No further appointments were offered during our stay. Quite disappointing as the treatment was partly the reason for staying at Fonab Castle. On Saturday night we booked one of the pods for dinner at 6.30pm. When we arrived we were told we could not have a high chair in the pod even though this was requested a couple of weeks prior to the booking and also when I confirmed our booking on the morning of our reservation. So instead of being able to have our 1 year old daughter in a high chair she had to sit beside us on the seat which made the evening a little trickier to navigate. We then waited 45 mins for someone to come and take our order. It felt like we had been totally forgotten. The phone that was in the pod did not work so we could not get anyone's attention. We then asked about the lighting and were told that the lighting was actually broken and we could not adjust it via the remote control. Ths meant we could not see the view due to the reflection of the lights on the windows. The F&B manager was very apologetic and did her best to make up for this but it's not what I expected having paid £75 just for the use of the pod at a 5 star hotel. One of our friends had called the hotel to order and pay for a bottle of champagne for our Pod Experience, which was there on arrival. Unfortunately, when we were checking out this champagne had been added to our bill. I am not sure why, as our bill should not have been a part of this process. A disappointing experience for a weekend that cost over £1300. Fonab Castle have yet to repsond to my email (3 weeks ago)
