Exceptional tour of a really well organised and well preserved military museum. Rosemary was one of the best guides we've ever had and we have taken every possible tour over 3 continents and 7 countries. You have to do this! It's amazing!

We had a lovely time here, 1st visit! Bought 3 lovely poppy brooches for my neices, Then enjoyed lovely cinnamon and apples scones and delicious coffee in their atmospheric cafe, hubby also had chocolate cake yummy. We will go back for lunch next time. A great find! I am told lunches are busy, so may be best to book in advance of visit. The staff were all lovely and helpful too! in both departments. See you soon!

We stopped off for a quick visit here whilst on our way to the Highlands for a holiday. It's a lovely castle and grounds. There was a gentleman in a kilt to greet you, then you are free to roam the museum at your own leisure. My Granddad was in the Black Watch during WW2, so it was amazing to see some of the photographs and equipment that he would have used. I was hoping for more items in the gift shop, a regimental patch or flag would be nice. Overall, I really enjoyed it.

We recently hosted our wedding reception at the Black Watch Castle & Museum and the whole experience was wonderful. Debbie, Lindsey and the whole team worked so hard, and nothing was ever too much to ask. The venue is beautiful. The room where we had our meal was bright and airy. There was also plenty of space for the ceilidh band and dancing. The food was absolutely delicious. Many of our guests commented on the great service and how friendly and helpful all the staff were. We feel very lucky to have hosted our wedding here and we’re forever grateful to the whole team, thank you all.

I "had" to visit the Castle and Museum as a member of staff at Culloden had spotted earlier this year that I was wearing the colours of The Black Watch at that time. I didn't know so I was going to buy a new scarf. Also a friend asked me to do some research, there. Both members of staff on reception deserve a favourable mention. One asked if I wanted to leave my small bag of drinks in the "back office" while I went around the place. She, or maybe both, took the photos of me there. The other one took it on board to book a taxi from their list of local contacts, for my trip into town. It turned out to be the same firm and one of the drivers I had seen the previous day. I was picked up from the entrance to the Castle and Museum. It is customer service like that which helps improve the day even if help is not needed. I said that I wanted to do some research relating to the First World War, was then given a map and the appropriate room was indicated on that map. There is a lift, which could be most helpful on my back down. When the time came, I opted to walk down a spiral staircase rather than look for the lift. The staircase was much wider than the one I had seen the day before AND carpeted. Even the walk that I had chosen to get me to the Museum improved my sense of well being as it briefly took me alongside the river. I'll leave it to you to decide which of the two photos of me sitting down you prefer. If this suits your taste, it is a lovely place to visit. It worked well for me.

Very good being a military historian myself I enjoyed it. During the years 1940 to April 1946 my grandfather served as a Sgt in the 61st Highland Anti-Tank Regiment 241btty. His primary job was to keep enemy mechanized armoured vehicles off the infantry battalions of the 51st Highland Division. In his case his battery were assigned to 154bde which consisted of 1st /7th Black Watch and 7th Argyll and Sutherlands.

Was much quieter than normal, which was strange. Open sandwich quite nice but real cheese would have been better than grated caterer pack cheese. The panini was soggy on 1 side too and there was a hair inside, not from person eating it. Soup was disappointing - watery and new potatoes in leek and potato soup. With 2 soups on the menu, would have been nice to have a creamy option also. Coffee and cakes were good though. Did get served a water for the table that was cracked round the top so had to get this replaced as shards of glass present. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would go back for coffee and scones/cakes but probably not main food.

Fabulous morning out! A little cafe, we didn't eat in there so can't comment. A shop which sold some lovely items. A little play area outside perfect for the children. I was worried that it wasn't going to be fully child friendly but my god was I wrong. The gentleman at the entrance (We think his name is Jim) what an absolute gem! He made the little quiz sound super exciting and my two competitive children couldn't wait to get in and get started. Once completed the gentleman talked through a few little facts with them and made them feel like little super hero's finishing the quiz. As we aren't from Scotland he then recommended some places to visit. Our children are 10, 4 and 6 months. The place is pram friendly and most definitely child friendly. Every gallery had at least one little activity to do for the children aswell as the quiz. The actual museum was full of amazing facts. I would highly recommend! Thankyou for such a lovely morning!

Though a little ways out from town, this is quite a welcoming and intimate place. The history surrounding this place is immense and beguiling, and I loved immersing myself in it during my trip here. Seeing the stately walls and verdant gardens, I felt a great warmth, an assurance that hospitality and elegance can prosper even this far in the frigid North in the winter. Note that the cafe bursts with energy and vivacity. After a long and frigid walk through the parks north of Perth, I was taken aback by such an eruption of light and conviviality. It's a wonderful little haven, and I greatly recommend the gift shops, which somehow feel more distinct and unique and gift shops I have seen elsewhere in Scotland.

The museum was really good, the bistro wasn’t. The smallest bowl of soup I have ever had served me and apparently there is one smaller. The open sandwich is obviously a move to cut down on expenses and not to be more Scandinavian , the one slice of bread was so thin and limp . 1 open chicken ceasar sandwich 1 bowl of soup and 1 coke … just short of £20 . I don’t often write negative reviews or reviews generally but ripping people off is not on .

The museum is very interesting and well displayed. It has an excellent and reasonably priced gift shop. The staff who dealt with tickets and sales in the gift shop were very friendly, polite and helpful. The cafe is lovely but on asking politely about seating we were spoken to with sarcasm. It was difficult to attract the attention of staff when we wanted to pay.

Made a special autumn trip to Cafe Kisa for coffee and cake. It’s been a while and the old Cafe Kisa we once knew is now a fabulous new Cafe Kisa restaurant and coffee venue, same street, just across the road. Beautiful venue, excellent staff, warming tasty coffee, yummiest scones ever. Wish we were staying for lunch, though it is always best to book. Having mobility issues I always dread, often fear, having to visit the special access facilities. Hallelujah, stunning, great care and consideration has been given to visitors to this facility, thank you. My husband managed to climb the stairs to the toilets and his comment was - amazing. Worth the climb. Cafe Kisa is such a great asset to this lovely village, lucky locals. We hope to visit again soon as the food we saw being served was truly mouthwatering.
