Its not the most exciting hotel, but is fine for a work stopover. I've eaten here the last couple of times and was very impressed by their steak pie with nice veg on the side and a good pint of Guinness. Their haddock and chips is nice too

After a disastrous meal st another hotel there we were staying, we ventured to the George and we were not disappointed. The staff were all fantastically friendly and efficient. They could have been better. The food was excellent, my husband(who isn't a big eater) enjoyed every mouthful of his steak pie. I had the most beautiful langoustines and fresh haddock. . Will definitely go again. Only one downside , none of the puddings came with custard

Visited with family while on holiday. We rang to book for 10 of us, and couldn’t have the time we wanted but it was ok for half hour later. This was fine with us but when we arrived the huge dining room only had one other table of 2 in the whole evening. Lovely location on the waterfront but very dated decor. Our food was mostly very nice. The seafood linguine especially was a hit. However we ordered 4 pizzas; 2 came with the rest of the table’s meals but 2 were delayed. The waiter told us that this was because the pizza oven only holds 2 pizzas at a time, and apologised. About 5 mins later one more pizza arrived and then the final pizza about another 5 mins after that. The pizzas had a lovely crispy base (deep pan style) but too much cheese and toppings made the top wet. Overall ok but also quite expensive (£17 for a vegetarian pizza for example). The children’s menu was different to what was shown on the website, however the chef was accommodating and made our daughter a tomato pasta dish, which she really enjoyed.

Review of The Lido Chip Shop (Helensburgh) Pizza – A Shadow of Its Former Glory** For over 30 years**, The Lido Chip Shop’s pizza was legendary—a cut above the usual chip shop fare. Their original recipe had the **perfect balance** of a thick, doughy base, a rich, tangy red sauce, and **loads of deliciously melted cheese** that made it stand out. It was a local favourite for a reason—every bite was packed with flavour, and you could tell it was made with care. Sadly, **things have changed**. The new version uses different ingredients, and now it’s just… **average**. The cheese is no longer as generous, the sauce lacks its old depth, and the base doesn’t have that same satisfying chew. It’s not *bad*—it’s still an okay chip shop pizza—but compared to what it once was, it’s a **huge letdown**. If you never had the original, you might think it’s fine. But for those of us who remember how good it was, the new version just doesn’t compare. **Bring back the old recipe!** **Rating: ⭐⭐☆☆☆ (2/5) – Used to be 5/5, now just another bland chip shop pizza.** *Still hoping they’ll go back to the original way—nothing else in town came close!* --- **Anyone else miss the old Lido pizza???

On arriving and seeing the McD-style ordering screens we weren't too hopeful. But the options were good and the process straightforward, just enter table number per the markers next to the screen and take it with you to a spare table. Hot drinks came quickly, and food not much longer. We just had breakfast/brunch. Staff are excellent; constantly clearing tables and wiping them down for the next occupants.

The dining experience and customer service here is absolutely dire. I ordered a vegan burger and was brought a beef burger - when I politely told the waiter that this is not what I had ordered he was argumentative and clearly annoyed. 90 minutes after ordering, both myself and my friend who had ordered a carbonara had not received our dishes, although others in our group had received their (very subpar) dishes over 30-40 minutes earlier. We went to the bar to request refunds, only to be told that they were being cooked right now, and so we could not get refunds. We were told the food would be a few minutes. A further 15 minutes later, the carbonara came out and was clearly just a microwave meal. My burger was still nowhere to be seen, so I again went to the bar to ask where it was. I was told by the same member of staff that it had just been sent out, so I went back to my table. I then sat for a further 15 minutes, waiting for this elusive vegan burger. At this point I had been waiting 2 hours. I went to the bar again and told the same staff member that I didn't even care about the burger anymore, I just wanted a refund. I was again told that it would be a few minutes, which of course at this point I didn't believe a word of. He then suggested that instead of a refund, he'd make me some drinks rather than the burger? Not free drinks mind, just drinks up to the value of the burger. Absolutely baffling honestly. Finally, a different member of staff came out and processed a refund for me. He gave me a vague apology about being understaffed. I left absolutely starving and with nowhere else to go for food. The single highlight about this disaster of an experience was the singer who appeared about half way into my long wait for a nonexistent burger - he was hilarious and kept me laughing despite my rumbling stomach. Avoid this place if you want to keep your sanity intact.

The steak was ordered, but the menu was quite limited. We enjoyed the meal, but my wife asked for a glass of house red wine, we were brought a bottle which was going to cost £26. My wife accepted it but she is not the type to complain. We were disappointed though.

Visited the Isle just to go to the Spa as the website / treatment options were the most appealing that I could see in the local area. I was looked after brilliantly by Mahi, who did my treatment and was attentive, clearly very experienced and tailored everything precisely to my needs. Definitely an asset to the hotel. I have had many Spa treatments in top hotels around the world and this experience was right up there with the best! Highly recommended.

We had booked a table in the restaurant but were set up in the 'Snug' instead as there was a large party in. We were happy with that as the Snug has a better atmosphere, though is a bit dated. Our food was good, the staff were welcoming and the service efficient.

Stopped off for a breather during a drive from Glasgow to Oban. Great view. But don't go inside! The place is pretty filthy: contact of any kind with the floors was not a good idea. Didn't smell great either. Staff definitely not in line with the usual friendliness of the Scots. Drank my coffee with much trepidation, and left. Stayed away from the food.
