Argyll Arms Hotel Restaurant in Argyll & Bute

Its not the most exciting hotel, but is fine for a work stopover. I've eaten here the last couple of times and was very impressed by their steak pie with nice veg on the side and a good pint of Guinness. Their haddock and chips is nice too

This place proved to be a winner for dinner. Great service great staff great meals. Four different meals - roast, fish and chips, scampi and ham steaks all generously portioned, delivered promptly and on warmed plates. All four were pronounced delicious. Dessert was initially declined but then the prospect of a good apple pie became too much so two diners caved and we're glad that they did so. This place may appear a little aged but the dining experience is highly recommended.

The dinner was very good and nice that is why we gave u 5 star and we will be back for moor dinners

The staff are the backbone of this hotel. They are so helpful, pleasant and friendly. The building is beautiful and so clean. We had dinner in the hotel and the food was excellent. Breakfast was ok - the sausages were outstanding though :-) microwaved scrambled egg ......

We stayed in Campbeltown 3 nights and ate in a different place each night. This was the most disappointing of the 3, albeit the cheapest. The restaurant was almost empty of dinners and staff and there was a total lack of atmosphere. The food was adequate. There was a poor selection of local whiskeys to round off the meal.

Went for a high tea last Monday. Was lovely, good portion sizes and friendly service. Well worth a visit.

This is a well situated hotel food is reasonable but the overall atmosphere is tired .Service is good - the owner is friendly and very hardworking staff are local menu is geared to local tastes . This place has been popular with locals for many years

There is a gluten free menu available with a good selection of meals. The food was good and the portions very generous.

Had a one night stay and first impressions were fine. Booked in the room and had a lovely meal (stake pie ) no complaints there. The room looked clean but was very out dated the bed was clean but the bed it's self was worn out and like a old brick The only temp that was in the shower was Naplam it was that hot. I asked the girl on the desk when breckfast was and she wasent sure, but said 7am till 10am I Went for breckfast at 09.30 and yes it had closed!. The girl on the desk did offer me toast and coffee but the money that was paid it should be a better more informative service. No hotel pack in room as well that would have helped big time..

Wir waren 2 mal zum Abendessen vor Ort. Die Bedienung war freundlich, schnell und das Essen, besonders die Scampie und die Suppen waren sehr gut zubereitet. Auch der Preis passte zur Menge und Qualität.

eat here this week and enjoyed my meal had brie to start that was disappointing sml portion but then had steak pie and it was excellent avoided pudding

Four of us ate here whilst staying at the excellent Lifeboat Studio, Dunaverty Rock. My starter was wedges salad with a cajan dip. At £3.95 very good. Main course was Mushroom pasta bake, salad with garlic bread for £7.95 also very good value and tasty too. The restaurant room was very clean and bright. The staff were all very nice too. There wasn't my choice re draught beer but the bottled beers were very good.

food really tasty, a nice relaxed meal at a good price, the menu had an excellent selection available, there was also a wide selection of beers and spirits available

During a recent visit to Campbeltown I dined with friends at this hotel which I know well. It has varied greatly over the years sometimes good sometimes not so good. In recent years however it has delivered a good value no frills meal with efficient service and in pleasant surroundings. It has no pretensions but you cannot argue with the quality of the food or the size of the portions. Well worth a return visit.

Food reasonably priced but my fish was overcooked, only personal choice but I would have preferred peas instead of salad with my fish and chips, not given an option and no tartare sauce.

Ate here whilst walking Kintyre Way. Our b and b said it was the best - heaven help the rest. The scallops with dipping sauce was OK, but the salmon with Scottish kedgeree was dire: salmon cooked to death, kedgeree tasteless - not a hint of curry or smoked fish, just a couple of leathery egg chippings. The rice was not basmati! No sauce made it like sawdust. It was expensive at £15. Friend had the nachos with black pudding and cheese. Avoid - even the half portion was an enormous heart stopper.

Had a meal here with friends last Saturday night. Average food. Wine dumped in a bucket at the side of the table, lid still on, not poured for us. Paper napkins. Inexperienced waitresses. Not great.

Decidimos tomar un paseo y busque un lugar agradable para comer, tener una vez estuve allí hace unos años, yo fui en para la cena. merece la pena la visita, el casero torta de carne en oferta era deliciosa y el servicio fue muy amable y nos hizo sentir como en casa. el precio era razonable. Yo estaba alojado en otro hotel en el tiempo, pero, por lo que recuerdo de mi estancia anterior, las habitaciones eran un poco anticuado, pero limpio y bien mantenido, no hay quejas.

Had a great lunch here, which was a reasonabley priced and plenty of it. Best bit was the French onion soup.

Great place, very helpful staff, fabulous breakfasts and nothing was too much trouble. We had a lovely suite of rooms facing over the main street.

We had a preplanned dinner for our group of 20+ travelers. It was well done, and tasty. Service also good, as was venue for a group.

Really bad run hotel and bar. Unfriendly, unhelpful and unwilling to take responsibility when issues were pointed out to the owner. There was a very rowdy crowd drinking in the place the night I was booked in and they basically chased the others customers out whilst the manageress stood by and let them.

From outside it is not somewhere I would have chosen but went on a family trip and although the decor definitely needs a bit of an updating the service was faultless and the food was great for the high tea. Great full size cakes at the end!

Quaint and quirky, huge breakfast, great hosts and will be back. incredible views across to Jura, definitely dining room with a view.

Very good venue and HUGE single malt selection. Dozens, in fact. A few blocks walk form the Springbank distillery. A great place for dinner after a distillery tour and 18 holes.

Freindly staff and good food. A big old fashioned hotel, which could dowith freshening up a bit. The staff were friendly and helpful. We dined by ourselves one night and at a buffet supper party, following our sporting event, the next night.

Really old facility and pretty dirty. The bathroom counter was falling down, the floors were so dirty I kept my socks on.Creapy old man behind the bar told us stories about Springbank distillery to convince us not to go- we went and the stories weren't true.Had drinks down the street 2 blocks at the Royal Hotel- way nicer, cleaner and great friendly staff.

On holiday and a couple of locals rec this place and to be honest didn't look great from the outside (or the inside- though clean), but as we were hungry decided to give the high tea a bash. Food isn't 'a la carte' but good and wholesome and filling. Cakes were superb (all home made) and plenty. Service was very good and accommodating (very nice Russian manager). Price very fair, £50 for a family of 5 ( toast, drinks, meal and cakes). Not a crumb was left. It was so good we went back the next day. Give the place a try.

Visited for a meal. Plain food, but very tasty. First time for a long time I have seen my father scoff a big plate of mince and tatties.

This was one of the restaurants we never go back to. The food was poor but the price was huge.The dining area is dull and there was no atmosphere at all.

Lovely warm welcome and delicious Sunday lunch. Situated overlooking the beach and has a very nice outdoor patio Will definitely be back!!!

Always come here for a meal on holiday with my family, great food , great service, very friendly , we will be back! Excellent.

Very good meals on both nights. Very good value. Service very good. Able to book meals later in the evening and also able to just walk in.

Although the hotel itself feels more like a retirement home than a hotel (I wouldn't stay there), a meal in the pub is good value for money and the service is good.
