The Argyle Arms was an oasis after a gruelling ride from the ferry in poor conditions and a strong head wind. The pub is spacious and basic but the service friendly and food hearty. Enjoyed the stop sitting in the front sun room having a well earned couple of pints. Not much to look at from the outside but call in if passing - you will if riding out to Iona!

The room where we sat was not very good maintained and it looked more like a youth club/bar than a restaurant. We ordered fish and chips x 3, and when I came to 50 I stopped counting bones… The peas were hard and the experience was among the worst I have had on a hotel restaurant. The places to eat in Fionnphort are much better if you want a good meal.

Standard fodder, tasty enough albeit frozen chips and Iceland cheesecake and not cheap considering you’re dining in a roadside caf. The premises are in need of some very serious TLC .. windows ready to fall out and absolutely no ambience, The language emitting from some of the patrons was a bit choice given there was some older ladies in the restaurant. The lady behind bar (maybe Mags) was pleasant but the young girl serving could do with a few lessons in customer service as there was not a word throughout service - not an ‘everything okay with your meal’ in sight. Would not use again unless all other options exhausted. The people who work there seem disinterested! A bit of a hole really, still trading as there’s nothing else in the area.

7pm dinner, steak pie and macaroni cheese were both delicious. Stunning views. Unfortunately the restaurant was freezing on arrival and didn’t warm up throughout. With a big wood-burner in sight it was a shame that it wasn’t in use. A good atmosphere, friendly staff but the building itself needs some attention. We were sat at the front window next to a thick line of mould along its seal. Really no excuse. Needs a deep clean. Apart from that, food was good, waitress friendly. Lots of little improvements could make a huge difference here.

We stopped at this restaurant on the way back to Craignure after a boat trip out to Iona and Staffa on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant was busy and we hadn't booked, but we managed to get the last table around 7.30pm. The food took a little while to arrive, but was well worth the wait. The pub and restaurant are all one and open plan, so there was quite a few people coming and going. Staff were friendly and the restaurant was clean. Great views out to the water. Had the steak and the peppercorn sauce which were amazing. They also did a carrot cake cheese cake which tasted amazing. Definately worth popping in for food if you are in the area. Our three year old ate off the kids menu and enjoyed his meal too. Thanks again, would love to come back again soon.

At 6pm the bar is bustling with locals, residents and passers-by. The staff are welcoming and the food comes quickly. It is the usual pub-grub menu, with some appealing seafood extras and daily specials. Food is hot and the portions are good. We enjoyed it and were on our way quickly. After a long day of travelling, what better way to start the holiday than popping to the local for a meal and drink? The Argyll is a locals’ local at the bar with a number of tables mostly by windows with stunning views (if it isn’t too dreich to see a thing!). The six of us, including 2 tired children, each had something different. It all arrived at the same time and the plates went back empty! It is not a gourmet ‘s paradise. Last night it served good tasty hot food, very friendly service and the other diners seemed happy as well.

I’ve been coming to this pub for 3 years and have watched it get progressively worse. Cobwebs everywhere, cold restaurant area, 2 barrels needed changed at opening time. Young blonde woman serving was very friendly and polite and made the place better. The food was luke warm on arrival, no traditional Scottish dishes to be had. Salad leaves were soggy. The worst bit about the place is the toilets, disgusting!!! Look like they’ve never been cleaned in years and have black mould growing in them. If I had seen the toilets before ordering food, I would not have eaten there

A few years ago (and with possibly different owners) we stopped off for lunch and I had a delicious pint of local prawns. This is what I was hoping to enjoy this visit. Sadly none on the menu and the menu that was available wasn't very inspired with quite a few dishes not available. What we had was OK but I wouldn't visit again for the food. When Mull has so much amazing local ingredients, its a shame they are not on the menu here. Three generations - ranging from 4 to 70+ - all enjoyed our early evening meal. We booked a table for 6pm. The staff are really friendly and efficient, keeping up a pleasant banter with locals whilst not excluding the visitors - quite an art! As we walked just over a mile to get there, we were hungry and the food came quite quickly (as it got busier, I think some people has a longer wait) and it was very good. The mussels were delicious and the steak was so tender, in fact everyone thoroughly enjoyed what they has ordered. The helpings were very generous and I'm glad I just had a main - though I did have tasters from various people! The highlight for our youngest member of the family was a dog called Snapper (belonging to a local I think) who allowed him to give a treat and "shook paws". Next time we're in BunesSan this will be our eating place of choice. Thank you guys!

I had stayed and eaten here just a few years ago and enjoyed it. But things have gone downhill since then. The vegetables with our dinner were clearly frozen, but more importantly, they were still half frozen when they reached the table - sprouts and mixed veg that a fork can scarcely pentrate? The menu strongly suggests it's made up of Brakes Catering meals for warming up - the steak pie with the pastry pillow, macaroni cheese, and other standard fare. etc. Add to that the surroundings that are in severe need of renovation and you have a deeply disappointing experience. There really aren't any alternatives in Bunessan - so unless you're without transport I'd suggest you move on to Fionnphort, or take the long haul back towards Craignure. (Don't know what's available in Pennygael). If you're stuck try to concentrate on the sea view and grin and bear the food.

A couple of pre-dinner drinks out front of the hotel sitting in the sun overlooking the bay was slightly marred by the amount of cigarette ends lying about and the general scruffy appearance, which could easily be improved. Dinner was a gorgeous Highland beef and mushroom pie, again somewhat let down by the plain boiled potatoes and frozen mixed vegetables. Where were the new potatoes and local vegetables? However, it's a reasonably-priced dinner and the setting is lovely so overall it hits the mark midway between average and very good. They also offer a takeaway service which was good to know if we hadn't been bothered to cook for ourselves. This hotel basically offers good quality pub food in its restaurant. The food and its quality are very acceptable, the quantities more than adequate, and all the staff are friendly. You are required to order at the bar, and take your drinks to your table yourself, and then the food is delivered to your table. Our starter of Tobermory smoked trout was excellent, and it was a shame that there was not a main course of similar quality available to follow such an excellent starter. The steak and ale pie that I had as a main course was good, but not really that suitable to follow such a fine starter.

We called in here on the way back from lovely afternoon on Iona. There is a good car park opposite the front of the Hotel next to the loch. The menu is mainly traditional pub favourites, but also some sea food dishes on the specials board. We ordered Lasagne, salad and chips and Haddock and chips. Both meals were tasty, well presented and cooked. The staff were polite, friendly and brought the meals quickly to us. It was just a shame that we didn't have time to stay for a few more drinks, but we had to drive on. I will return to this pub for a meal if we are in the area again.

Arrived in Mull fresh off the ferry and were recommended the Argyll Arms. Lovely steak pie and fabulous view of the sea loch.

We called in for a beer and a bar meal. We enjoyed both.My wife had the local mussels and I had steak and ale pie. The portions were generous and certainly hot and well cooked. The atmosphere in the bar was friendly and like a pub used to be years ago in England!A very pleasant experience. Would definitely visit again.

The staff were friendly and welcoming and the dining area and bar had a low level buzz that created a pleasant atmosphere. But the building was overdue for a re-decoration and the menu was uninspiring, to say the least. I had pizza that was generously topped (toppings cost extra) and crispy. So not all bad, but we wouldn't go back!

Loved fresh mussles and scallops and langoustines. Steak pie also excellent and smoked trout. Good local bottled beer. Bar and eating area a bit basic but with food that good who cares. Also only twenty minutes walk from holiday cottage at Suidhe farm cottages so great with new laws on drinking and driving in Scotland.

A place to rest, to have lunch or dinner, and to spend some good times with your friends.very good relationship quality-priceyou do not need to book in advance. My feeling was that you are always welcome. We stayed 3 days in Mull, and came to the Argyll Arms every day.One curiosity, the song Morning is broken (Cat Stevens) was created there. Very good place to visit and enjoy

The dog was welcome inside and staff friendly but the food was average. My jacket potato was over microwaved and other items didn't look 'home made'. Disappointing compared to other island dining experiences.

We were hungry and there is not that much choice in the area, but the restaurant in the Argylls Arms Hotel is perfectly acceptable if you expect good pub food with a nice pint. Food was plentiful and tasty and children are allowed in the sitting area despite the bar being in the same room.

Got a fish supper and received one small fish and a handful of chips. Chips avarage, fish shocking for a fishing community like Campbeltown. Greasy fish very thin and soggy like Spngebob.

I use this cafe in tesco everytime I visit Oban. They do a great breakfast and good coffee. What makes this a good place is the staff, alwsys friendly and quick to serve even when busy.

Oh Dear Lord, a truly, I was going to say uneatible meal, but I guess maybe, if I was one of the millions of starving folk in the world, I would have lower expectations. A bit of advice.. don’t order the steak and kidney pie… not even able to confirm the peas, I suggest you ask for the mashed potatoes and stick to that !

We loved our fish & chip meal here. The staff were fantastic...sadly this pub CLOSES indefinitely from Saturday 28th September.
