The dining experience and customer service here is absolutely dire. I ordered a vegan burger and was brought a beef burger - when I politely told the waiter that this is not what I had ordered he was argumentative and clearly annoyed. 90 minutes after ordering, both myself and my friend who had ordered a carbonara had not received our dishes, although others in our group had received their (very subpar) dishes over 30-40 minutes earlier. We went to the bar to request refunds, only to be told that they were being cooked right now, and so we could not get refunds. We were told the food would be a few minutes. A further 15 minutes later, the carbonara came out and was clearly just a microwave meal. My burger was still nowhere to be seen, so I again went to the bar to ask where it was. I was told by the same member of staff that it had just been sent out, so I went back to my table. I then sat for a further 15 minutes, waiting for this elusive vegan burger. At this point I had been waiting 2 hours. I went to the bar again and told the same staff member that I didn't even care about the burger anymore, I just wanted a refund. I was again told that it would be a few minutes, which of course at this point I didn't believe a word of. He then suggested that instead of a refund, he'd make me some drinks rather than the burger? Not free drinks mind, just drinks up to the value of the burger. Absolutely baffling honestly. Finally, a different member of staff came out and processed a refund for me. He gave me a vague apology about being understaffed. I left absolutely starving and with nowhere else to go for food. The single highlight about this disaster of an experience was the singer who appeared about half way into my long wait for a nonexistent burger - he was hilarious and kept me laughing despite my rumbling stomach. Avoid this place if you want to keep your sanity intact.

Just stayed here 2 nights on a fishing trip with friends. I found the hotel clean and nice looking and the room small but ok . Had dinner once it was supposed to be veg curry but was veg in tomato with no curry flavour & naan as hard as a biscuit. Second night fish & chips across the road excellent. As for breakfast I don’t recommend , I’ve stayed in lots of places & can honestly say this the worse one I’ve ever had. £13.50 for breakfast plated very small and nothing special and help yourself to anything else . Anything else counted as a continental breakfast at £6.50 which consisted of white or brown bread which takes ages to toast on their awfull toaster a small selection of ceriels not all branded , tinned fruit and not much of it , some basic fruit juice and tea and coffee where the waters in one of those flask things with coffe un drinkable wish washy instant.the second morning as I was with a group of friends decided to have breakfast again as long day ahead but decided to have contintal. While my friends complained as this time it got worse with no cups had to ask for butter 3 times as they kept giving us 3 small lumps between 6 of us, only marmalade or honey and my other friend got his so called veg sausage breakfast and they bought it to him with out sausage as had run out giving tomato instead which he had said he didn’t want it as they don’t cook it properly. We complained and the cook came out we weren’t rude but stated all the faults and as he had stated several times we’ve had a large party of people in . He was sarcastic and couldn’t get it that their were so many faults and as we said to him your still happy for us to pay for this. Go to hotel it’s ok for the money but don’t eat there.

Very poor communication with the staff. I parked my car outside thinking it’s a hotel car park then couple weeks later I got a penalty ticket. Nobody informed us that the car park is permit only. What a bizarre thing anyway?! We had stayed it hotel before but won’t do it again.

Just back after 2 nights here with coach party. No porterage here and rooms a bit difficult to find . Think they are doing place up gradually. Need more cleaning staff . Also new towels. Staff lovely and rushed off their feet. Food not good, fish and chip place across the road or the Village Inn about a mile up the road good. One of the Chefs had walked out day we had dinner. Good position and scenery' nice. Once done up and more staff , this place will be good . about an hour from Glasgow.

I cannot say how disappointing of an experience this was. I wanted to have a fun sit down meal for the last night of my trip. I’d walked past this place a number of times, and they have advertised a few of the items they offer. I did further investigation online and decided to come for an early dinner following a day of hiking. Wow - it was a terrible experience from the get go. Firstly, finding where the restaurant was in the hotel proved a challenge. The super rude lady at reception was zero help and sent me on a wild goose chance. I was about to give up (and should have in hindsight!) but a very kind lady who worked there actually walked me through the restaurant. Going in, it felt like something straight out of a campy 80s movie. I was told there was an event so I’d need to finish eating by a certain time. The room was entirely dead although someone else came later. It was dead silent. No music, no chatter, nada. It was obvious the waitress was run ragged between the upcoming event and waiting on the 2 tables. I asked several times if it would just be easier if I went elsewhere. She said it was ok and brought the menu. Let’s say it felt like a bait & switch. They lured me in with items outside advertised on a banner - I double checked, and no where on the banner does it say these items are not served for dinner. Instead you’re offered a pathetic menu du jour with no pricing apart from a multi-course offering. I thought I’d still give it a go - who knew? Maybe the limited menu meant the food would be great. It wasn’t. For the first time in my life I left a restaurant and had to go elsewhere mid meal because it was so bad. I got the pea soup (was actually ok) but the entree was something that was clearly a tasteless microwave dinner. I wish I’d taken a photo but was in too much of a hurry to escape and find a decent meal. Surprisingly, even though it was clear I’d hardly touched my plate, the waitress didn’t ask me if things were ok. I asked for the bill and was sent on another wild goose chase to pay. It was so painful finding someone to pay to that I almost gave up and left. Finally I found a barman who accepted my payment. I shared with him what an awful experience/meal I had (saying the wine he served was the only bright spot). He said he’d go find out if they could do anything, but at this point I was just so ready to leave and - given the experience thus far - I knew I’d be waiting ages. If you’re staying at the hotel, I imagine you’ll suffer through a meal here. But if you’re not staying there, I would avoid it like the plague. Thankfully I left here and hightailed it to the chippy across the street and had an awesome takeaway.

Staying in a local B&B we booked in here for evening meal in the restaurant. Very limited menu, salmon, steak pie, veg option and sirloin steak at a £7 premium. We had the salmon and pie. Vegetables were from catering packs of peas and sweet corn. Looking around that was on the whole rooms plate. The pie was stewed beat and mushrooms with a puff pastry top obviously cooked separately. Dessert I've cream or coconut raspberry tart, worthy of the best shop dinner chef. Can't fault the staff who were working hard and run off their feet. Wine was OK but at £6 a glass it should be.

Visited here 2 days in a row, great food and excellent value for money. I can recommend the steak pie, best I’ve had in a long time. The staff in the restaurant work so hard and are up against some awkward customers that give no regard for what the staff have to deal with. Our waiter (young tall guy, never got his name), had lots to put up with and the service we received was great, which is why we returned for the 2nd night. He’s a credit to the team.

The hotel has gone downhill since I reviewed in January. Then I mentioned great customer service and clean rooms - not this time. The hotel was busy and there is little evidence of compliance with Covid 19 guidelines. Staff are not wearing face coverings while dealing with the public. Our party checked in on 31st July for an overnight stay. Having been to the hotel on a number of occasions we were confident that our experience would be positive. Sadly this was not the case. One of our group was given a room that had not been cleaned - the sheets were stained and used toiletries left in the bathroom. Another returned to her room before checkout to discover a male member of staff in the room. She was shocked and upset as her personal belongings were still in the room. He said he had listened and heard no TV so had let himself in to clean. This is clearly unacceptable. Breakfast was okay - if lukewarm. The rooms need more attention to detail and a number of areas require attention - there is an unfinished feel to the work that was being carried out last time we stayed. Given that the cost of staying here is significantly higher than it was 6 months ago there needs to be better service. The two positives for this hotel are the location and the chippie across the road.

Passing through on the way up to Oban we had an awful experience having lunch here which resulted in a £100 car parking fine which we were forced to pay. Well marked signs in the car park outlined that the car park was for paying customers, if we didn't notify staff we would be liable for a fine. We duly notified staff and went in for lunch. After a mediocre lunch which took forever and a day to come out, we were went on our way. Around 2 weeks later we received a fine from a car parking fine enforcement agency. I phoned the hotel, gave them the details presuming they would cancel it. We received 3 further fine notices, going up from £50-£100. We notified the hotel each time which they said they would cancel. In short they didn't bother, despite showing evidence which clearly outlined that we dined at the restaurant. In short spent £10 on lunch and ended up £100 down. Visitors beware!

Wouldn't have stayed if room wasn't changed. Breakfast was poor with no attention to detail. The feel of the hotel is run down and unclean, wasn't a nice place to spend the weekend. We went for a wonder round the town and it's all very similar: run down, poor quality and over priced. Will not return to the local area or recommend this to anyone wanting a holiday. We used a groupon to stay in this hotel for one night. We were lucky our room was ready early and we were allowed to check in way before their usual time, which was great. The lady at the reception was lovely. Our room was basic but adequate, had everything we needed. We were allowed to bring our dog in which was awesome. And we had an amazing view from our windows. Decor is a little dated but the place was clean enough and we weren't expecting a luxury apartment anyway. The deal included a dinner and breakfast in the hotel restaurant. The dining area was just as dated but unfortunately there were other shortcomings. Tables are covered in plastic sheets, our table was also covered in crumbs. The food was old school but tasted ok and was served quickly. We had some cocktails too which were OK. The waiting staff were fine but wish they weren't on their phones constantly and in plain sight. Breakfast was far more disappointing. We were told it's served until 10:30, we arrived at 10:15ish which granted is late, but at that point the buffet hot breakfast was pretty much all empty with just some leftovers. The milk and juice dispensers and the coffee thermos were empty. Us and another pair of guests asked the waiter about more food and he laughed! He said the chef finished early and it was reception mistake that we were told 10:30. There was no apology or acknowledgement that there was anything wrong. There were enough leftovers to piece together a breakfast but we had coffee in our room. By 10:20 some staff came around and started helping themselves to breakfast too, with hotel guests still at the tables, it was just awkward. Which is a shame because again, the reception at check out was perfectly nice and if not for the restaurant, I would have given it 5 stars. I'd definitely recommend the hotel stay, just don't expect any luxuries and stay away from the dining area or get your breakfast early!

Stopped off for some lunch this afternoon. Major disappointment. Had been looking forward to rounding off a nice break with a bar lunch on the way home. Firstly the waiter struggled to understand us but we got there. We ordered haggis bon bons to start, they were actually quite nice. We ordered steak pie and an Aberdeen angus burger and I asked for a small portion of macaroni for our 7 month old baby. I had a feeling we’d get an adult portion and that’s what came. The macaroni tasted artificial, a horrible aftertaste. My steak pie came, it was a round pie you expect to get at a football game. It must have been reheated a few times. I couldn’t get my knife or fork into it so I gave up. My fiancées burger was obviously a cheap freezer shop effort and was definitely not Aberdeen Angus. There was no side salad or chutney as advertised. We walked out after complaining. The waiter did apologise and made up a bill for £34. I gave him £20 seen as we had a drink each and the starters were ok. Best avoided I’m afraid.

We had a lunch from the pub bar menu and were left disappointed. Drinks: asked for sparkling water with ice and lemon and a diet coke and received warm, still water and watery draft cola. Food, one baguette and one hot meal. The baguette was very dry, close to stale, and the side salad was wilted and covered in an strange orange (in colour) dressing. Hot meal was served with frozen chips that tasted like cheap oven chips and a meagre and sad looking side of peas. The fish was fine. Requested more peas which did come but they did seem to be microwaved.

We visited the Loch Long hotel restaurant after a day walking in the Arrochar Alps. They were very accommodating of mucky walkers, in fact we returned for food because they were kind enough to let us use their toilets when we first arrived. The hotel offers bar meals so we headed to the bar, but were told that as it was after 6 we had to go to the restaurant instead. That was all right as the same food was on offer for the same prices. The menu hasn't got a huge choice but for one meal there was plenty to choose from. The restaurant had a less relaxed atmosphere than a bar, as it felt a bit fancy for us in our muddy gear, but nobody seemed bothered and the food was fantastic. We weren't offered a drinks menu but I believe this is because we specified we were in a hurry (waiting for a bus) and ordered everything before we even sat down, and forgot about drinks ourselves. We had to return to the bar to pay but this was little inconvenience and was very quick. Service staff were friendly and and efficient, our food arrived quickly and was very tasty and good value. The restaurant was busy but mainly with those staying in the hotel, who had planned times so it was not hard to get a table.

In the remote village of Arrochar, this is THE place to eat. A varied menu with daily specials offers delicious food. The decor and the atmosphere are very pleasant. The service can be a bit spotty when the restaurant is busy, but the capable staff is usually able to cope.

The service from staff is excellent. They are timed to perfection and you never have cause to complain. The soups are all homemade as are some other foods. Very tasty as well. Love the porridge and full Scottish breakfast. Clean and tidy as well.

Die ausgefallen Speisekarte von original schottischen Gerichten gepaart mit "kontinentalen" und internationalen Einflüssen hat überzeugt. Sowohl im Preis aber vor allem in der Qualität.

I stayed at this hotel as part of a Lochs and Glens tour. Breakfast and dinner were included unfortunately. The food and service were not as poor as the room, but were still bad. The hotel seems to mainly cater for elderly customers and the food appears to be designed for this market. Bland, stodgy and institutional. It's a cheap holiday and the budget is clearly very low. The ingredients are the cheapest available and quantity not quality seems to be the aim. There are too many choices, all badly cooked, poorly presented and frequently cold. The service is badly organised and again catering to an older market. Food is presented at the table without any of the trimmings that make a restaurant rather than a canteen meal. Toast was cold, porridge made with water and served tasteless without any jam or fruit. A kipper was again cold and served with a garnish of limp slices of bread. Coffee was surprisingly drinkable. As for starters, I did not realise how many nasty things could be made from left over mashed potato. I could continue with this but it would be more of the same. A blast from the past, where food was bad and customers were not expected to know any better. At least the chef can heat up tinned Haggis, which was the best item.A smaller menu cooked with care and to modern tastes and standards would require no more staff and less would be wasted as inedible. One other reviewer described this hotel as having the ambiance of a down market old folks home. This sums up the standard of food and the inflexible meal times perfectly.I wish I had not wasted five days of my life staying here.

Such a choice of food, so much of it and very filling, Youve just got to have it???? The choice was different every day, I loved the Haggis in Drambruie sauce. The porridge was truly Scottish too. So full every day, didnt really need to snack on anything. All this was served by wonderful staff where nothing was too much trouble.

We took up the offer of 4 courses of dinner for £8.95 whilst staying at a local b and b and should have realised that this was suspiciously cheap! The menu was retro to say the least: grapefruit/orange juice, tomato soup of salmon pate to start; liver/bacon, turkey and veg or nut roast for main; eve's pudding, trifle, icecream or cheese for desert. Presume course 4 was coffee but we were not offered any. We both had tomato soup - i did spot the odd pip but it tasted like it came out of a can and was only just edible. The turkey was fine - like xmas dinner at primary school. My cheese was a little sweaty but ok but the icecream was dubious. Service was frighteningly quick and 3 courses were done in 50 minutes. The waiter looked mildly horrified when i ordered a whole bottle of wine between the two of us. The waiters were generally very good and polite though. We also felt a little uncomfortable as we are in our mid thirties and absolutely everybody else was 60plus. Cost £30 incl drinks but we considered this poor value as the whole experience was pretty unpleasant and almost embarrassing. Apologies for sounding so negative but don't want others to repeat our mistake! Fish and chips on the shore would be preferable if in need of a cheap feed!

Got a fish supper and received one small fish and a handful of chips. Chips avarage, fish shocking for a fishing community like Campbeltown. Greasy fish very thin and soggy like Spngebob.

A well run ‘spoons with quick service and the usual good value meals and drinks. Had a lovely crispy fish and chips, wish my locally chippy could do it so well. Excellent.
