The best restaurants serving British food in York Yorkshire and The Humber

Thanks to Aga for making our stay at the Judge's Lodging extra special. She greeted us, helped carry our luggage to our room, provided restaurant recommendations that exceeded our expectations and was so personable. In addition to the high level of service the hotel is centrally located in the old city. They also provide an early breakfast before many of the area restaurants have opened -- a great benefit when you want to get an early start. If we return this would be our go to hotel.

He estado llamando a The Maltings durante muchos años, y no me había dado cuenta de que mi última visita sería la última. Me sorprendió cuando lo pasé ayer, y vi el exterior escandaloso, y el nuevo nombre - The Dubliner - casi tan irlandés como Jack Daniels! Lamentablemente, los Maltings serán extrañados, sobre todo por aquellos que saben que la palabra "crack" es en realidad una buena palabra del viejo Yorkshire.

El problema principal era el ruido del bar, el viernes por la noche estaba bien. El sábado por la noche fue horrible. Podríamos haber estado sentados en el bar. Me quejé del ruido y me dijeron que rechazaría, pero el cantante en vivo se puso más fuerte. ¡El gerente no aceptó ninguna queja! Mi habitación vibrando. Cuando medí era sobre el límite de 87 decibelios pero a la casera no le importaba claramente

Mi mamá y yo visitamos Kennedys ayer y no vamos a regresar. Vinimos a tomar un bocado ligero y unas copas. Pedimos la ensalada feta e higo que estaba deliciosa y los nachos sin jalapeños. Desafortunadamente, el primer lote de nachos estaban completamente pegados en el papel a prueba de grasa y en realidad no pudimos comer ninguno de ellos y tuvimos que enviarlos de vuelta - no hay problemas, es lo que es. Cuando regresan con un conjunto fresco de nachos, estaban cubiertos de jalapeños - a los que soy alérgico. No dijo ningún problema y se fue. Él regresó, pero teníamos una sospecha inmediata de que simplemente los había recogido y teníamos toda la razón! Cuando empecé a levantar los nachos encontré 5 jalapeños, prueba de que no estaban frescos y que los había quitado. Afortunadamente no tuve una reacción al tocarlos, ¡pero gracias a Dios no comí ninguno por accidente! Nos quejamos y se quitaron de la factura y obtuvimos un pequeño descuento, pero eso para mí no tiene sentido. Esto podría haber sido un problema extremadamente grave y su total negligencia fue impactante. Incluso le había dicho al tipo cuando los enviamos de vuelta por segunda vez que no puedo comerlos. Simplemente no podría confiar en este lugar de nuevo si su práctica es sentarse y recoger trozos de comidas de la gente en lugar de hacer lo correcto y hacerlo fresco para evitar la contaminación. Muy, muy mala práctica y un tema que no creo que se tomaran muy en serio. Qué pena.

Found this place by chance, while on a mission to fine at least 1 pub doing sundey roast on Sunday! Really nice Sunday Roast, portion was just enough to fill us up and leave space for a lovely dessert and digestive! Owners are just the sweetest and kindest hosts and the building is just AWESOME. Recommend visiting when in York!

Lovely location for a Dales weekend, by the riverside and surrounded by excellent walking and running trails in every direction. Excellent food and comfortable rooms. Lots of choices for dinner and breakfast. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Jess looked after us and is a credit to the Red Lion and Inn Group. Well done and thank you for an enjoyable weekend.

Tuvimos un desayuno inglés completo - nunca más! Las salchichas estaban húmedas e insípidas, el tocino estaba tan duro que tuve que recogerlo. La tostada estaba quemada y no era comestible. Los hongos eran agradables

So I had the humour with a roti bread. The proportion of humour to bread was ridiculous. There was a massive plate of humous which was delicious by the way but 1 very small pitta like bread. When I asked for more bread I got charged another £2 which made the dish cost nearly £10.

I was at the hotel early morning ahead of a conference and wanted tea and toast although not a resident. A young waiter called Abdul was very helpful and although his lounge section was not open for drinks etc at 7.40am he assisted and organised both for me. A professional , helpful and informative waiter who should be recognised for his service. Thanks again - it certainly left a positive impression with me about the hotel.

We visited on April 24th having read the good reviews on here. Arrived just after 6 and the pub was already quite busy ( always a good sign) but we got a table to eat ok. We then had an excellent pub experience of some good drinks and great food. The 3 young ladies who were serving both drinks and food were all very friendly,polite and efficient. The food was good British Pub food. I had Sausage and Mash and my partner had Gammon and chips. The pub itself was old fashioned but in the best sense, beams and fireplaces, loved it. Would definitely recommend but might be worth booking.

Terrible service , staff don't care. Food ok. With our small menu came a huge handwritten list of dishes not available. Order at bar. Nobody asks if food is ok. Staff young. Maybe they just need training

Il posto è molto caratteristico e ho potuto mangiare un ottimo fish and chips. Durante le belle giornate c’è la possibilità di sedersi all’aperto. Non fa servizio al tavolo. Consigliato!
