Kennedys Bar & Restaurant in York

The best Sunday Roast in York, the beef was served pink, tender and flavoursome with fresh vegetables, cauliflower cheese, crispy potatoes and a proper Yorkshire pudding drizzled with delicious gravy! We finished off with a chocolate sponge. Thank you to the team at Kennedys for great food & service, we will be back next Sunday!

This is a great place for a good evening out. We started with dinner which was excellent and stayed for drinks and dancing. Kennedy’s has a great atmosphere and the staff are friendly and helpful. We were looked after by Xania who was attentive beyond expectations and genuinely seemed to be having as much fun as we were!

Vibey atmosphere. Good food, reasonably priced. DJ set provided great entertainment for the evening. The big star was Xenia who looked after us so well. She made sure we had everything we needed, found us a fresh table so the DJ set could be accommodated and was so genuine and friendly. All of this whilst dashing about sorting lots of things out. She made our night- give the woman a pay rise!

We've been to Kennedys before but not for a while and we were in York for the weekend, we stopped in a few times to take advantage of their lovely cocktail offers. The atmosphere is great in here really laid back and just a pleasant place to spend a few hours the staff are always really helpful and when we had an issue with our drinks they fixed it straight away with no fuss. They had some great live music on as well

Popped in last night for the Tuesday night SpeedQuizzing, (which I'm told is the 2nd best one in York). Loads of fun. Great bar, great place, great atmosphere. I got so battered though, I went home without my bag containing my laptop and money etc. Unsure if I'd left it upstairs in Kennedy's or downstairs in Sotano's, I phoned in a state of panic and a delightful young lady called Rachel dropped everything and went hunting for it. Result!!!!! Popped back into town, got the bag plus one of the nicest Moving Mountain burgers I've ever had for lunch!!! Woohoo Kennedys!!! The best place to eat, drink and leave your bag in the whole of York and the surrounding areas.

I just had to put a little shout out there for the nicest roast dinner I’ve eaten out given I don’t eat meat, I was catered for perfectly. My Partner and auntie raved about the belly pork also. Everything was just lovely, great team and owners Karen and Andrew beautiful people!

We stopped at Kennedys bar about 4 years ago when we were in York for some Christmas shopping. We just had a few drinks but we really liked the atmosphere and the staff we’re so nice. On Wednesday we had to go to York and called in again for a meal and again we had a really nice time and we were so impressed by all the staff. I would recommend anyone to go there

Great little spot in the heart of the city !! Had a gorgeous lunch with my daughter, even better with the kids eat free offer. My Caesar salad was absolutely perfect & the chicken schnitzel was really tasty too. We will absolutely be coming back soon!

Popped in yesterday (July 20th) after the sign outside advertising Shed Seven cocktails caught our eye. Ended up having a couple of drinks and eating too. Drinks were great, food was good and the staff were funny, friendly and made us feel welcome. Would recommend!

Another little visit to my favourite bar & eatery in York :) as usual it did not disappoint …except my favourite waiter Tommy was no where to be seen. I had the Scampi & chips which was lovely, it was accompanied by a gorgeous glass of Picpol which the wonderful Xenia helped me pick out by letting me taste a few. Very nice touch. I enjoyed the music & atmosphere as I always do. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting & so close to the minister where i went later to listen to a choir. Visited York for a friends 30th and had a fantastic time at this venue. The door staff were so professional, polite and very accommodating. What I was especially pleased with, was I wasn’t discriminated against for wearing certain branded clothing. Shout out to Liam (door-staff) for showing me his duck! 🦆 #YorkCompleteditMate

Went here years ago and thought we’d revisit as we were eating around the corner at Las Iguanas. It’s a nice venue, doesn’t feel like it’s trying too hard. Little bit pricey but good vibes make it justified. Great post dinner venue for a dance.

I held a big birthday party event in March 24, and cannot praise enough the Kennedys team for their organisation, pre-party in suggesting ideas through to the perfect organisation and planning on the night. The bar team were exceptional, the canopes provided were fabulous and many of my guests fed back on how good the food was. The atmosphere was fantastic and Kennedys team know how to create a party!

We went here as we were looking for somewhere for lunch and just went in to see. What a lovely place . Service was absolutely superb. We went for the burgers as they sounded good and they were on 2 for 1 on Wednesdays I has the chicken burger and it’s the best one I’ve ever had. It was full of succulent chicken thigh and had a lovely sauce and some lettuce So it wasn’t overloaded which really made the chicken even more lovely Hubby has a cow and poke ( I think that’s what it was ) his looked amazing and he certainly enjoyed it. I would have happily paid full price for our food as it was top notch .. Will def visit here again as the normal menu looked nice as well. Loved the ambience as well

Fancied a traditional Sunday lunch on a cold wet day and was tempted inside by the advertised roast rump of beef with all the trimmings. The trimmings were perfectly fine, nicely cooked vegetables and a Yorkshire pudding that was clearly homemade. But the beef - all three small and narrow slices of it - was tough and gristly. I ended up donating most of it to my partner, who is less fussy than me. Such a disappointment. And given that we paid about £38 for our two roast dinners, poor value for money. The staff never asked if it was OK either. A Sunday roast is one of the easiest things to cook as well.

We took a punt on Kennedy's when trying to find a reasonably late bite to eat on a weekend away in York. We were SO happy we found this place - I honestly thought it was some of the best 'pub food' I've ever had. I had the Korean Fried Chicken. It came on a huge flatbread and was piled high with kimchee and perfectly fried chicken. The coating was crispy but the chicken perfectly succulent. My wife had the Kennedy's burger which, again, was huge but delicious, and came with an equally large portion of fries. It was well into Saturday evening and the atmosphere was decidedly buzzy, but this didn't bother us and the staff were still attentive despite us being the last diners. Shout out to Eleanor in particular who was a delight. We will be back!

Just popped in here for food whilst wandering around York. We had the steak, we can honestly say it was the best 👌 steak we’ve had for a long time. The peppercorn sauce was plentiful and delicious. Would highly recommend 👍

Came to Kennedys today for a Sunday roast and I have to say, it was by far the best roast I’ve ever had! The pork belly was unreal! The gravy was beautiful and the Yorkshire pudding bigger than my head! A pint of Jubel in an ice cold stein to wash it down with!

Me and my friend and partner went yesterday for a bite to eat. At no point were we told there was no chicken available on arrival, nobody came to the table so we went to the bar to order where we were informed that the place had no chicken of any kind.. bit poor for a Sunday. My food came, £12 for a main dish, pulled pork tacos.. I expected a main dish size, what I actually got was two tiny little ( albeit it filled tacos) still only 2 tiny tacos 🌮. I was unimpressed at best. The Mrs got a burger, which was lovely. But still just a tiny little brioche bun with an entire plate of leaves. Since going for lunch I left starving. And have spent all night throwing up

Will start by saying the staff were okay, friendly enough but not very helpful. Asked for a jug of water and got told they were just washing jugs. After asking a further 3 times still didn't get any water. Finally ordered food and after almost 45 mins still had no food, asked where it was and told should be 5 minutes, over 15 mins later both our starters - sharing platter and breads for 3 - and our mains came at the same time. We did not touch the starters as we wanted our mains to be eaten hot. I said that we would like to send the starters back and not pay as they had come with our mains an hour after ordering. The cost was deducted from the bill but after the 10% service charge was added, a charge we would not have voluntarily paid had we been given the option. Was told by waitress that things were crazy, they were no longer taking food orders and that the chef was in tears. I felt for the staff but that was not our problem. Food was tasty enough so can't fault that. I don't think I would go again which is a shame after reading other reviews.

Family had booked a private room for a 30th birthday, really good venue, good drinks, great live band and DJ - a thoroughly enjoyable night, the staff looked after us well.

After enquiring at a number of venues in York to celebrate my girlfriends 30th, we booked a private section in Kennedys. The venue is in a prime spot in town, with great atmosphere and good range of drinks. Kennedys answered any queries prior to the party through email or over the phone. The bar staff even helped us put up decorations when we got there! I was slightly concerned the cordoned off area we had would be too small, but we had around 55 guests and it was fine. Overall, I would recommend to anyone for food, drinks or a private event. They also have bands on Fridays and a DJ on Saturday, as well as one of the best open mic nights in York on a Thursday.

Always have a great time here, great food during the day and one of the best places later on in the being for a good drink and atmosphere!

Found this place on a day trip to york most places were heaving and we couldn't find anywhere to sit, on taking a turn down a side street we came across this bar it looked a bit dark and gloomy but we went in and took a seat a nice young lad came over to give us menu,s and take our drink order, we both had soft drinks and ordered a roast beef sandwich each, menu has a good selection inc burgers, tapas and sharing platters,food took about 10 to 15 mins to come and looked lovely,well presented (sorry no pic) and tasted amazing, or bill was £28 which was a good price for the quality of the food. Used the toilets rather than having to pay 40p elsewhere, worth every penny all in all. I recommend this place and would definitely return.

Atmosohere is cosy, but there was an issue. We orderd Guinness beer. Beer was from tap and it was warm. Like room temperature. I asked bardender is there any chance to ged the cold one, but he told that this is how it suposed to be. 🫣🤦🏼‍♂️🤷

The bar may be nice on the inside. But the bar staff specifically the door staff were very unproffessional with a terrible sense of humor. I had a packet of pills thrust into my face whislt one of the door staff recorded the interaction on their mobile. I was refused entry prior after sitting outside for some fresh air on a chair - a vape. Apparently I was too drunk. I tried to walk into the door to the adjacent bar where one of the staff who I did not see was hiding behind it came out and punched me in the ribs! I've only just moved to york and I was taken away from my guiding colleges which I explained further. The grinning lass on the door with the pill packet and lad that punched me out of the door seemed far too proud of their accomplishments. If you go here don't make any attempt to talk to the door staff and be on your best etiquette.

We arranged a leaving do at this little gem of a place. All the staff were so friendly and brilliant to work with. And couldn’t do enough for us in the night! The room looked amazing with candles everywhere and we could take in any decorations we liked A band called Mothers were playing that night who were fantastic!
