Stuffing was so hard I struggled to chew the 1 ball I tried. We went for the all the meats option to try. Some of it was OK, but I couldn't get the knife through the beef, really tough and lots of grissle. I'm not some weakling with arthritis either. Loads of fat on the pork, it was like we got the scrag ends of cheap cuts that had been under a heat lamp for an hour! The veg was cold too! I really don't think it was worth the money!

Great food, the meat was fantastic, only comment was the stuffing balls were rock hard and inedible - annoyingly I'd ordered an extra portion of them, but the rest was great.

I had the pork sandwich and was surprisingly impressed with how delicious it was... Outdid my expectations... However the service was abysmal. Took forever to make a sandwich and the seating area was carnage. Overall a mixed bag... Don't go here in a rush and I'd advise to take away and enjoy in another area of York

It was suggested by the B&B owner for a quick dinner and to taste the "proper" yorkshire pudding . Me and my kids appreciate it. Its is a place to have quick dinner or lunch not a proper restaurant.

Extremely poor service. The girls was too busy chatting amongst one another then actually serving. Halfway through my order they found it more important to gossip. The wait was long and the upstairs seating is extremely dull. Wouldn’t return.

I like the beef sandwich and my girlfriend has a festive wrap! I think the food was amazing, very friendly staff too. Atmosphere a bit down but you go to eat there! 👌thank you guys!

A Yorkshire Roast Dinner, IN A WRAP! The wrap is a pancake, as Yorkshire Puddings are the same batter mixture as pancakes and The Yorkshire Roast Company gets it bang on. Even offering roast potatoes in a cup with gravy for roughly £2, and are open late at night for those on their way home and wanting something to soak up the alcohol - why go maccies when we have THIS on our doorstep?! Full carvery for £13 in a box? Yes please. Wow ❤️

Over priced slop. Had such a great day in York so my expectations were high. But this place took it a little lower had the full pork dinner and it was not good. The place had no decorations up and no music just sticky tables and floor. The cobs looked better.

The food took an hour and 40 minutes to arrive after I got told it would take 25-40. I was not happy! However once it came it was nice and hot and really nice food! But the delivery time was ridiculous compared to what I was promised! Wouldn’t have ordered if I knew it would take that long!

First time in trying but will be the last £7.50 for a bearly warm roast pork sandwich.was drawn in to the shop with the mouth watering meats in the window only to be horrified when member of staff opened a draw with all the meat thrown in where she then ripped some meat off plonked it on scales then squashed it on to the breadcake! We asked for crackling as was some in the window to be told NO as was only 3 pieces left. Very disappointed

Our visit to The York Roast Co was really good. Although there was a super long line outside, staff managed to keep a steady pace and we were served in no time! They were so helpful with explaining the menu and didn’t mind our fussy order. The food was warm, delicious and very filling. As well as this, the place had a cosy atmosphere. With it being so popular it’s not certain you’ll get a seat inside as it’s quite small. Overall a really good pick for lunch in York.

Visited Thursday 5/12/24. Ordered 2 turkey sandwiches without gravy. Bottle of water & latte. I went upstairs to grab a seat and hubby waited for food & hot drink. He was eventually given the food which consisted of 2 Yorkshire puddings with all trimmings and no gravy. He told the member of staff that we had ordered sandwiches and she just said ‘this is what you ordered’!! No further discussion. Hubby then had to ask for the latte which was another 5 minutes as guy making it walked away and left it!!! By the time it came and hubby had come upstairs the food was cold. He didn’t say anything else as shop was full. I was furious as this was not what we ordered. I can’t eat vegetables so why on earth would I order this!!!! It was not worth the £24 either. Won’t be eating here again. You need to train up staff to listen to customers!!!

Asked for NO horseradish and for cranberry on my wrap, received what looks like a triple portion of horseradish and no cranberry. Ordered a pot of apple sauce and didn’t get that either

Pretty poor service, it took a while the staff to acknowledge me. Then the roast pork sandwich was very disappointing, mainly roast potatoes and stuffing rather than actual pork. Would definitely not recommend.

we're a long way from town so it's always been amazing to me you offer deliver and that's why it's taken so long for us to order, but this christmas I decided we had to. and you delivered. Nothing missing, enough for everyone, good value, thank you.

3 small pieces of pork. Shocking. Usually there is enough pork for my son and i to share and leftovers for sandwiches the next day. I paid for extra pork. Such a disappointment 😞

Food was absolutely great. The service was even better. Holly (I think her name was) was so helpful and nice to us especially considering it was quite late on a rowdy Friday night. I don't think I could be that friendly that close to the end of my shift but hats off to her! Definitely one of the reasons we'll be coming again

My first negative culinary experience in the UK. A limp sandwich with traces of rather flaxy frying. And 9 pounds for that. Too bad.

The food was kind of fine. Fast serving. I didn't like the space for eating. The has some of the not complete fit. The table ware sticky and dusty. Maybe because I'm not English I don't like it , why it hasn't elementary hygiene at the dining area?

Amazing experience, from the moment we went into the shop, the staff were very friendly and greeted us with a smile. The food was prepared quickly and the staff helped us decide on what to choose when we were unsure. The food itself was delicious and very filling. Definitely recommend.

TBH I feel bad leaving a “late” review bearing in mind the delivery was only 5 mins ate, and it was in an awkward terraced house place. The deliverer tried his best and homed in on my mobile signal which was unfortunately 2 doors away. However, we enjoyed the food, it was hardly warm, and the meat as fantastic. Thank you for a great first experience with you guys. Will order again (if I can as I will be ordering from Germany in future - hopefully!)🤞🏻

It was an average experience overall really. Slow service, the person that served me seemed to have forgotten how to smile. The food was OK, the Yorkshire puddings don't seem to be fresh as well it had gone chewy. The meat was very good, just would have liked more, but I understand meat is expensive. Prob would not go back again and would use the shambles market stalls

The looks of the food are great, it's very traditional. Personally, apple sauce on meat it's not my favourite. It was crowded and the price was fair.

Was really looking forward to a Yorkshire pudding wrap and we are really disappointed! Staff were not welcoming, very childish, the work station was very dirty! The wrap itself was very average, chewy meat, underdone veg, and not very tasty! Such a shame!

How can you miss York Pudding when you come to York~ The roast beef is wrapped in bread that is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, soaking up the sweet gravy. It’s quite delicious! In addition, I ordered a turkey sandwich and watched the crowds flowing outside the window while eating. It felt like I had found a square outside the country where I could enjoy lunch comfortably! York pudding was originally called dripping pudding, but was renamed Yorkshire pudding in a cookbook in 1747. It often appears in traditional British Sunday family roasts. In the past, due to insufficient supplies, the York pudding would be filled with gravy and served with a little meat to fill the stomach. This would make the meal full and reduce the cost of more expensive meat. Nowadays, it has developed into a British specialty dish. You can eat bread alone or add meat or gravy, whatever you like!

The one thing I wanted to make sure I got was a Beef Yorkshire Pudding wrap and no other choice but York Roast 💪 Staff were lovely, under pressure from the influx of tourists, like myself haha but handled it well with a smile! Not badly priced at all, would cost far more down south! Plenty of meat and was delicious. I did er... visit the other branch later that night for a turkey wrap aswell... while in Rome they say!

Really very disappointed. Visited on Saturday 26th around 2pm. Queue to order was slow. Meat portions were small, and the sit down area untidy. Lots of great places to eat in York. This didn't rank highly

I'm not sure what's changed over the years but it's nothing like I remember. Save your money and go for a proper roast. Toilets were disgusting with a seat hanging off and the tables were filthy and upstairs was full of litter. There was actually a bottle of disinfectant on the table where we sat maybe you're expected to clean the tables yourself? Either way, huge disappointment I would be very reluctant to return.

A nice little stop off to eat homely food which was reasonably prices. The Yorkshire pudding, meat and veg was really filling and perfect on a cold day. Slight negative the meat portion was a little stingy.

Delivery driver was incredibly rude to my husband and complained about having to wait a few minutes for my husband to meet him at the door. Poor service from him and regretting giving him a tip. Never again. Shocking behaviour

Terrible. Cold food, Just Eat service the priority. Place looks filthy, when staff close food drawers with their boot....just not right. Staff poor, slow, not focussed on the queue. Upstairs dining neglected. Wont bother them again.

Haad the Yorkshire pudding wrap, I'll be honest the Yorkshire pudding tasted fantastic but the wrap felt like it was just stuffing and was bang average. I wouldn't bother again for the price. Took a while to get served as well just a bit of a novelty really.

Well, this was a disappointing I was looking forward to a nice roast meal after checking with the staff The differences in explaining I wanted a proper roast meal, I was given anything but a meal to pay 10 pounds Not even get a full slice for meat is poor I really was looking forward to I lovely roast meal. All I got was a couple of bits of carrot a little bit of meat and a couple of potatoes with gravy very disappointed. People got more meat on their sandwiches and I did my meal :(

This was the first time having Yorkshire Pudding and I loved it! The gravy mixed with the veggies and potatoes worked so well together. I highly recommend coming and trying this place out. When I’m back in York, I’m coming back for sure.

Wow one of York's and Yorkshire's little Gem's. Popped in for lunch with the wife, we both had the Beef Yorkie wrap. Food was excellent and delicious, veg crunchy. Sunday roast on the go what more could you want. Very filling as well. We did not eat upstairs so cannot comment on what this was like. Service was excellent, it was not too busy when we went, about 4 customers in front of us but on occasions we walked past there was a large queue into the street. Would 100% recommend this place and cannot wait to go back to York to get another one.

Lovely food, always expect when shoving a meal in to a single wrap (in this case a Yorkshire) that it'd ruin the individual flavours but surprisingly this worked well. Pork with apple sauce and mixed vegs worked well. Would definitely recommend

You are in York, while your exploring don't just get a Greggs or Maccies you can do that anywhere. Sandwich and a pot of roast tatties great combination.

Disappointed given the hype. A great Yorkshire and nicely cooked meat let down a bit by instant gravy, potatoes and vegetables. If these had been homemade as well I'm sure it would have been as good as we had hoped.

Really disappointing. Cold, dry and chewy Yorkshire pudding, hard dry stuffing and trimmings that tasted like they were frozen. I wouldn’t recommend and won’t be buying from here again. It’s a shame as this used to be a really great place.

delivery time kept being extended, meat was just end scraps and hacked not sliced. Cold, but microwaved and vegetables and Yorkshire pudding actually really good. good portion size.

We ordered 2 meals but only 1 arrived. The one that did arrive had the potatoes missing. The food was tepid at best. The stuffing was completely stone cold to the middle. I can't deny that the less than half a cold meal was tasty but what an unbelievable disappointment. I called the restaurant twice and was not offered a replacement. My worst Just Eat experience I've ever had.

What can I say... watery flavourless gravy, grisly Luke warm meat, undercooked and very obviously frozen "roasties"... The only redeemable thing was the Yorkshire pudding itself. As an overpriced tourist novelty fair enough, but I cannot understand why this place would ever get repeat business, if York wasn't a tourist trap then these restaurants would be doomed to close down easily. The service was abysmal, me and my girlfriend went in and we tried to explain that she wasn't overly hungry so what do they recommend, place wasn't busy so it was a fair ask. They looked at eachother like I'd just asked them for their house and car keys, they said the small box will be fine and just started making it without even explaining what was in it, we took it upstairs and it was too much for her. This led to her being very upset for feeling guilty about not eating it and not wanting to go back because of the unfriendly atmosphere. Not only that, they charged us £9 for this supposedly small box which is beyond ludicrous for the portion and quality. I was livid as they clearly didn't care or have communication skills so we just left the filthy upstairs dining area with overflowing bins and messy tables. I've lived in York for years now and I can still say that this is one of the worst restaurants in the city I've ever been.

Was going to come here to grab some lunch with friends but I watched the staff humiliate a young girl with allergies when she asked to see if she could eat there with her allergies, but watched the women serving throw an allergines book at her and tell her to read which only contained the meat aspects when she asked about the roast potatoes and what they were cooked in the woman serving gave her a disgusted look and said can't you read pointing at the board, the young lady who was checking for her health then walked out I've never been more disgusted at someone's service and lack of help of someone with an issue honestly wouldn't come back again or if you have you have allergies I would avoid like the plague, utter shame this woman's attitude spoils all the wonderful aspects of the shambles

The Yorkshire pudding is cold and dry as cardboard, completely inedible. Roast pork is dry and stringy as well. Whatever you are getting, it's been made hours and hours ago. Very disappointing.

We decided to try after we saw how popular the Yorkshire pudding wrap was on Tiktok we ordered 2 Yorkshire pudding wraps 1 with turkey and cranberry sauce the 2nd without any sauce the wrap itself was tasty but not mind-blowing tasty like betrayed on the viral trend. The seating upstairs is worse for wear and has seen better days and the lighting is very dark but I would recommend it if you want something to go.

Had a delightful lunch date here, cozy little spot, although it can be packed in at times, and fantastic value for money. Got two full sized roasts for £20, and they don't skimp with the ingredients.

Ordered at half 3 for half 5 delivery but didn’t turn up till 7.. Not sure if that was just eats fault or the restaurant. But nice food, good portions and hot.. apple sauce portion is absolutely tiny for the amount of meat though.

The staff were really nice and friendly, which made for a pleasant experience. I tried the ham wrap with mustard and horseradish sauce. It was tasty, though the horseradish was a bit overpowering—my fault for not asking for less! From a price perspective, I do think it was a bit on the expensive side. One thing that bothered me was that the table wasn’t clean when I sat down. I get it if the place is busy, but when I ordered, there were no other customers, so I expected a cleaner table. Overall though, it was a good experience, and I’d probably give it another try.

Went to the york roast and was quite disappointed with our experience. We walked in and were ignored by the staff as they talked amongst themselves and were left waiting for about 5 mins with no explanation. I soon understood they were busy with deliveries but we were not told about the long wait on food and were only told they had ran out of turkey after ordering. After getting the food after 10 mins we went upstairs and the eating area was so dirty we didn't even want to eat in this environment. Wrap was nice but sandwich was average - not worth the wait. Overall wont be returning, staff need to communicate better and the space definitely needs a good clean!

Quería probar el Yorkshire Pudding wrap mientras visitaba el fin de semana. Aunque la comida estaba bien, nada que escribir a casa, pero bien, la zona de estar de arriba y los baños eran absolutamente horrible. La unidad que alberga el contenedor estaba sucia, había salsa en las paredes y todo el lugar parecía que no había sido barrida / trapeada o limpiada recientemente. Los baños también eran asquerosos! Las paredes eran gruesas de suciedad y los enfermos parecían no haber sido limpiados en mucho tiempo. Fue muy uno y hecho para nosotros y no recomendaría.

Food was amazing well worth a visit

Food hygiene need to visit here and think twice before going. The place was dirty. We had paid before we saw the eating area upstais. I had to go and ask someone to clean the table before we could eat there. It wasn't just clearing it - it was dirty and sticky. The food was cold and tasteless. The serving area was not clean and the staff didn't seem to know what they were doing (although the young lady was pleasant). Check it out before you order is the best advice I can give. Don't be mistaken by the queue which makes it look popular but it is because of the slow service. It was so dirty that I dare not use the toilets - I didn't want to know what they were like! We could have chosen any number of places to eat in York ,- unfortunately we didn't make the right choice!

We visited yesterday on my Mum's first visit to York. I wanted to introduce her to the delicious sandwiches and wraps that are here. We enjoy one every time we come to York. The food was delicious as ever. However i do have to agree with the previous comment about the hygiene levels. Mostly upstairs. I never complain but i just don't want people to be put off returning when the food is so nice! The tray i was given to take my food upstairs was still dirty from the previous use. The tables were sticky and filthy and also the windowsill next to the table was filthy with drops of food over it and the stapled up netting was coming down from most of the windows. The floor felt sticky to walk on like it had been mopped with dirty water (if at all) The toilet was abysmal, the previous person hadn't flushed the chain and there was tissue all over the floor too. You could also see on the bottom of the toilet door smears of where there had been an attempt to clean the floor but using a dirty mop and had left black mopping marks on the bottom of the door. Both toilets were just as bad as my Mum had used the other toilet and her comments were the same for that one. We are not ones to complain, genuinely, however we wanted management to be aware so people were not put off returning as our previous experiences have been nothing like above. I have also emailed the management to make them aware.

I came to the Low Petergate shop with my sister and the food was sensational. The service however, was shocking! There was no greeting from the till operator instead she stood and looked at my like an idiot as I wasn’t sure if she was ready for my order, stood with a resting witch face the whole time. The guy at the end was just as bad in fact maybe more useless than anyone. We witnessed him throw another customers order down. The customers in front of us had order 5 wraps and instead of confirming with the customer who was standing infront of him telling him the details or her order and completely ignoring her he asked one of his colleagues who didn’t know. I didn’t catch the name of the lad at the end but the girl was called Nina.

Service was quick and it was quite busy but it's just not worth the cost. Upstairs wasent partially clean. Not worth the price.
