Good selection of dishes on the menu Weill presented and cooked food, all our dishes were very tasty Friendly and professional waiter Warren helped make the evening enjoyable

We were over visiting the university for my son. We stayed next door and went in for food on two nights. The service was fantastic. Warren our waiter remembered us. The atmosphere was lovely, the service was quick and good value for money. Little personal touches made the difference. The chef was Max and as a vegetarian the food was superb. My son ate meat and it was also fantastic. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back.

What a surprise find, the Dormouse is next door to the Travellodge were we we're staying. We booked an evening meal and enjoyed three excellent courses served to us by the attentive Mariuse. The beer was good too!

Decided to visit the dormouse tonight as we're staying in York, good decision, our waiter Warren was just a joy a credit to his employers. Pate good, turkey and mushroom pie, sea bass really lovely. Definitely a go to. Julie Hugh sneddon.

I was extremely disappointed by the quality of the food...my friend and I ordered the fish and chips.. The fish had a nice fleshy bit but at least two thirds dry , the mushy peas were watery. My other friend ordered a side salad as a side order.. for the price it was tiny a few leaves and a couple of cherry tomatoes. My pudding was the Honeycomb comb supposed to be White chocolate, it was an ORANGE mould that barely tasted of chocolate and hardly melted, sickly sweet centre, it sat on dry ?biscuit crumbs...why??? I couldn't eat it and askes for it to be removed off the total bill , which it was. My friend who ordered the honeycomb Ice cream and coconut sorbet , said the ice-cream was vanilla with a bit of sauce . I was really embarrassed as I have been to the Dormouse many times in the past and loved it, so I recommended it PLUS my friend paid for a birthday treat.... I'm sorry, but if you are charging prices, you need to deliver the goods, word gets round fast, especially somewhere like York. I was surprised to see the place so empty on a sunny Saturday afternoon and I now know why! Please look into your quality, I would hate to see the place go under. kind regards

Came in for a late dinner whilst staying at the Premier Inn next door on a business trip. Served by Karen, who was an absolute angel. So friendly and upbeat, and made us feel like nothing was too much trouble. Food was nice, hot, delivered quickly, and reasonably priced. (Two mains, one side and two large wines came to £53). Wouldn't hesitate to visit here (or any of the other Vintage Inns) again.

Went here 2 nights in a row while staying in Premier Inn. Fitted us in first night even though we hadn't booked. Excellent food and excellent service from Mariusz. Would certainly recommend.

I was staying locally at the premier inn situated just behind the Dormouse, we popped over hoping to grab a bite to eat before bed. I was pleasantly surprised to find a little golden nugget of an eating establishment. I went for the Seabass while the wife had a pizza both were served to utter perfection, i highly recommended this place.

Really good roast lamb with plenty of veggies and a great Yorkshire pudding. Very quick and friendly service from Karen.

Karen in the dining room was amazing. She couldn't have done any more to look after us We chose to have only starters and desserts but nothing was a problem. Karen made our visit a pleasurable one.

Excellent service and waitress Becky who made sure we had everything we needed. Such a polite lady. Matt behind the bar gave us a welcoming reception. Scott and Jess in the kitchen made really appetising food. All hot and fresh vegetables with our meals. Fish was really nice as well as the chicken pie. Always meet for our “ladies lunch” and will continue to do so. Well done

We were made most welcome by a member of staff called Warren who charming and witty. The chef, Nick, made an excellent job of preparing our meal. We will certainly return to this establishment.

Delicious food, lovely surroundings and excellent service. Our server, Warren, was knowledgeable about the food, polite, funny and the exact right balance between attentive and not overbearing. Will definitely return, particularly for the yummy vegan curry.

We arrived at the hotel next door after a long drive on our anniversary. A pricy but decent meal was order for both of us, both totally different inc drinks. Both meals came out after a long wait and would be described as 'Luke Warm'. They weren't the best meals we have ever tasted, the quality wasn't there for the price sadly although the service was excellent. Sadly later that evening, we were both in pain with iffy stomachs and spent the night in the wrong part of our hotel lodgings!!!.... needless to say we didn't return and ate elsewhere. .

I can not say enough good things about our experience here last night. 15 of us had a fantastic meal to celebrate my parents 50th anniversary. The team asked for our meal choices in advance and were incredibly helpful in everything they did for us. They were very accommodating about my son's nut allergy and very kind in allowing us to have an anniversary cake and special table decorations (which they even put out themselves) The food was delicious and beautifully prepared - lamb and steaks etc cooked exactly as requested. To have so many meals cooked perfectly at once was very much appreciated - many thanks to Nick, the chef. The biggest thank you must go to Warren, the member of staff who looked after us so brilliantly all evening. He had such a friendly manner, was attentive and helpful, and also totally hilarious! He wasn't intrusive in the least, but had a very engaging and friendly manner and made us all laugh so much all night. The kids absolutely loved him and will remember him for a long time to come. I'm so grateful to him for making this very special evening such a success - my brothers and I live a long way away from each other so being all together for a night was really special - Warren took photos of us and took care of everything so efficiently - we are so grateful. I rarely take the time to write reviews - only when someone has really gone over and above. Lovely food and fantastic service. Sunday lunch booked easily on line , very relaxing atmosphere and food was delicious and reasonably priced. Our server was Mariusz very professional, friendly and courteous. Thank you we will definitely visit again

Perfectly sited for anyone staying at the nearby Premier Inn. Plenty of parking but remember to register your car. Friendly greeting from staff, especially Karen who told us some of the pub’s history. We had a drink outside on the decking seating area then moved inside to eat. Lovely food, and extra gravy supplied on request. Would recommend.

We just popped in to the Dormouse for dinner. Our server, Karen, was organised & friendly. We all had something different - sirloin steak, chicken burger & fishcakes. The food came quite quickly and the portions were ample. I had the fishcakes and enjoyed the spinach & broccoli that came with it. With two rounds of drinks for the three of us the bill came to £53 which I didn’t think was too bad.

Really lovely food and a nice atmosphere. Warren was friendly and efficient and we had a really nice evening. The 40% discount off mains was an added bonus

Excellent service. Fish and chips excellent. Prawn Cocktail not as good. Bread was stale. Butter too hard to spread. Most of lettuce was yellow! Will visit again but wont be ordering a Prawn Cocktail.

We had a beautiful meal here . The food was delicious and the staff very welcoming. Phoebe looked after us and nothing was too much trouble! Our thanks go to this lovely wheelchair friendly restaurant!

Went for lunch & got told there would be a long wait but the food came quickly! No issues at all, I had the lasagne which was lovely. Actually surprised about the quality of food as I’ve visited a few times in the past & been disappointed! But it looks like they’ve changed owners or got a new chef. Would definitely come for lunch again :)

We popped in for a midweek drink and snack. When we went into the bar we were informed it was table service so we found a table and used the app. Our orders were brought to the table with super efficiency and the staff were all helpful and friendly. The disappointment was the amount of options unavailable making the menu very limited. The starters although very nice have definitely reduced in size by a noticeable amount. Only lost a star because of poor value for money on portion size.

Visited on a Sunday night having first booked on line. Welcomed and served quickly and efficiently. All the food was of good quality; clean plates all round. Meals included gammon, lasagne, pizza and a bourguignon.

Visited this restaurant with staying at the Premier Inn next door. Food was excellent as well as a lovely greeting from staff. Felt well looked after. Definitely visit again when in York in the future.

Everything was just great for a lovely lunch. Food was delicious and server was so friendly. Lots to choose from the menu and everything came well presented. Inside and outside seating is available and this is well worth a visit. It is a little way out of York but there is lots of free parking

Impromptu night our with family; it was nice after all the Covid restrictions to walk into a restaurant without a lot of thought and without any booking. Staff very friendly and efficient, with a good choice of dishes for all tastes. We only had mains but they were tasty, well cooked and well presented. And the bill was reasonable!

On Sundays the main food choice is between five different "roasts". We were very disappointed to learn that the vegetarian choice had already run out at six in the evening!!! This left us with a very uninspiring salad as the only vegetarian option available. We sat at an outside table which did not appear to have been cleaned prior to our arrival. We will not be coming back.

Haven’t been here for ages, but we wanted a restaurant in walking distance with a varied menu and this fitted the bill. We were greeted and seated pretty swiftly. Everything we wanted was available and we didn’t wait long for the food. I have to say that we all were pleased with our choices. The charming Marek served us and helpfully recommended which beers to try.

Visited here during the last lockdown while staying at the nearby hotel. Provided a very good meal to take back to the hotel with proper cutlery and salt/pepper cellar. Top notch.

Visited the Dormouse this lunchtime (Sunday 27th) with my husband, young daughter and friend. We had roast beef dinner, turkey dinner, hunters chicken and a child's pizza. The food was very tasty and clearly homemade, we had a lovely table tucked away in the corner (which I requested when booking). Everywhere was very clean, one way system in place, table service for food and drinks, hand sanitizer stations dotted about and the waiting staff were fantastic, our waiter in particular was really friendly and efficient and clearly had skill and passion for the job, which is lovely to see and makes your experience so much better.My 3 year old had the child's pizza, chips and salad and it was quite a large meal for a small child so if you have 2 children under 4 you might get away with them sharing!Overall a very pleasant visit, but for us personally as a tiny negative I thought it was a little expensive for the food, but on the flip side it is table service so understable, I suppose it depends on what you want to spend and personal choice. We will definitely return!

Had a lovely evening here on Saturday 26th June. Lovely food and absolutely lovely waiter that served us he couldn’t do enough for us. I should have taken his name but he was bald, and was extremely polite and attentive. He made it a lovely evening for us. Fabulous food and would definitely recommend.

Had a great meal at lunchtime today. Lasagne followed by Apple pie and custard was delicious. They environment indoors felt very covid secure with hand gels,social distanced seating etc. Very attentive staff, throughly enjoyed our visit.

As we were staying overnight at the Premier Inn York – North which has no restaurant we had pre booked online for dinner at 7pm at the next door Vintage Inns Dormouse restaurant, with its indoor and outdoor dining opportunities. The day of our visit was very warm and sunny and the restaurant was very busy with people eating both inside and at the outdoor tables when we arrived but we were shown to a table straight away and an order for drinks (a bottle of white wine and a carafe of water) was taken.The menu offered a good choice of food and drinks and ordered a chicken and mushroom pie with chips and vegetables and a battered fish and chips with peas. For dessert we ordered Peach Melba Tarte Tatin and coffees.All of the food and the drinks when they eventually arrived were very good but the service experience was very disappointing as the restaurant obviously did not have enough staff serving to deal efficiently with the numbers of customers they had accepted. Large amounts of dropped food were visible on the floor nearby where it had been left after tables had been vacated. Despite COVID advice on cleanliness displayed in the gents toilets the hand dryers were not working and no papers towels were available. Overall a mixed experience let down by lack of enough staff to cope with the number of customers booked.

Table booked for a Saturday Tea time in the garden. Family of 3 with a dog. Sun was shining, excellent/friendly staff. Service was spot on and the food was really good. What more could you ask for.

I've always found this place nice, I've visited the Dormouse A few times birthdays, Christmas day and the odd friends letting always goid food well presented well cooked and the staff are very friendly

Work colleagues recommended a trip here and was well worth the visit. We got a table near the fire which made a lovely setting...even if a little warm! Had a lovely main (lamb) which I did think was on the small side at first but by the time I had dessert (apple crumble and custard), I was suitably full. Very impressed with the kids menu. Good portions and choice and my daughter loved her lasagne and garlic bread. Would recommend to others.

Staying at The Premier, we booked The Dormouse for our evening meal. Great food, booked for the following evening too and received great service from Daisy, Pheobe, Francesca and Molly. Lovely food, ample choice, cosy atmosphere and all the relevant covid 19 requirements adhered to.

Apareció hoy después de conducir desde Chesterfield. Vivió en York 16 años, se mudó en enero y no se ha levantado desde entonces debido a la pandemia.Conocí a mi pareja aquí en agosto de 2018 y nos vamos a casar a finales de agosto. Debo decir que visitamos el lirón al menos 3 veces al mes y fuimos anoche por primera vez desde febrero, las comidas fueron mucho mejores que nunca, mi esposo comió la hamburguesa de la casa y dijo que era la mejor hamburguesa que tenía. había tenido en el lirón solo necesitaba una pequeña ensalada o una pequeña olla de ensalada de col para que el plato se viera fabuloso y se tratara de presentación.¿Tuve el pollo snitzzel? Creo que es una nueva versión del viejo pollo de cazador, pero mucho mejor. We celebrated a 70th birthday here in March. There were 8 adults and 4 children. We were served by Marek who was amazing, nothing was too much trouble for him. He was very friendly and attentive. We had 2 people with special dietary requirements. Marek took extra care by checking with the kitchen that the 2 meals didn’t contain diary or gluten. We all really enjoyed our meals, burgers, 3 different roast dinners pork, turkey and vegetarian. A big bonus was they did veggie gravy and the veggie roasties weren’t cooked in animal fat. All the meals were really good sizes including the children’s. We also had a lady who served us drinks and helped bring our meals who was also really pleasant and helpful. We took our own special celebration cake and they hide it for us until it was needed, they sang happy birthday with us and provided plates for everyone. The pub was really busy and had a great atmosphere. Everywhere was really clean and nicely furnished. I cannot praise them all highly enough. The only downside was we messed up paying the bill with a good tip. We phoned to try and pay Marek a tip over the phone but we were told this wouldn’t be possible. So sorry Marek, but we will be back and will leave an extra tip for you.

I come here about once a year - in the hope than a local pub has improved. Sadly, I’ve been disappointed for nearly 20 years. Tonight the indelible lump of unmixed instant mash was passed off as a dumpling and the honey & lemongrass dressing on my side salad tasted extraordinarily like sugary water. I’m not a spring chicken & I know poor food when it’s presented to me. Very poor response & excuse from the kitchen. . Apologise & learn from it - don’t dismiss it as fantasy. Great service from the floor staff spoiled by the arrogance of a kitchen that offers more than it can actually deliver. It is an over-priced, poor offering that really should be so much better than it is. If I feel like coming back in a year - remind me not to.

Menu for a quick sandwich a bit limited however the fish goujon was very nice. The beef brisket on sourdough was average. Service was a it slow but they did have an accident in the kitchen

This is the first time we have been to this pub/restaurant as we live in Manchester, we are staying at the premier inn for the weekend, I must be honest i booked a table online for Friday 6 of March, then I looked at the reviews on trip advisor and then told my husband I was going to cancel as they didn’t have good reviews, when we arrived i said we will give it a chance and have a drink and meal there, we were so glad we did the meal and service was so lovely and our waiter marek, was fantastic and such a lovely person. We would recommend this restaurant so much.

We went yesterday for my birthday lunch. There was just my husband and myself and the place was not particularly busy. I ordered sea bass with spring onion mashed potato and garden peas. I couldn't have the sauce that accompanied the fish because it contained garlic and I have an allergy to that, so had tartare sauce instead. My husband had fishcake, which came with a bit of garnish and new potatoes. We did wait quite a while for meals to arrive but hoped it would be worth waiting for. Unfortunately, we were a tad disappointed. The sea bass was the thinnest, smallest I have ever seen. There were two wafer thin pieces of crispy edged fish, piled up artistically on a very small pile of mashed potato. The peas were randomly scattered round the plate and were cold. My husband's fishcake was ok, but there was only a few new potatoes to accompany it. We decided not to order a dessert as we did not want to be further disappointed. It is all very well having a 'pretty design' to make the food look interesting, but if it is not a decent portion then what is the point? Won't be returning to the Dormouse.

we were in the Doormouse last night and ordered two curries which turned out to be quite poor. But worse than that when the bill came VAT had been added to the menu price. No where on the menu did it say prices were Ex VAT. I think adding 20% to the bill afterwards is discraceful. That said the waitress did agree to remove the VAT when challenged. I have seen another similar comment on trip advisor relating to the Doormouse. The management responded by saying they do not do this. Complete lie they absoulutely do and I have the evidence from last night.

Discounting the alterations ongoing outside - beer/drink selection good, overall atmosphere was nice, service was friendly and prompt. Food ,in our case Sunday roast was probably a 6 out of 10. Good but could do a lot better. Value for money if you can get a discounted offer. Would be good value for money if the main courses were a little better with a little more attention to some details.

First time at this establishment, went for drinks and food. Told to go to restraint section for food only to be told that it was full booked even though there were about six empty table(that we could see), then told to go find a table in the bar where only one table was available (sitting six and there was only two of us). Table had not been cleared from previous customer and remained there approx 25 mins until just before our own food arrived. When food arrived it was tasty but the beef had quite a lot of fat on, portion size small, had to pay extra for second Yorkshire pudding, not good value for money. Place looks nice but felt service was a bit chaotic and would not recommend for people visiting York, better places to eat.

Booked a special meal for four as one of our sons was due to go travelling for a year and it would be our last time together for a while The whole experience was horrendous. I was brought the wrong drink. We waited ages for our starters. After nearly 2 hours at the table and no mains we drives to leave. We did only pay for our drinks and not starters. The chap at the bar said if we had said we should have said we were in a hurry. I don’t call waiting nearly 2 hours being in a hurry. Had eaten there before many time asI usually meet my girlfriends there once a month. I will, however , never step foot in that place again. If you want good service in a timely manner then don’t eat here. I did fill a feedback form in , got a good response in a timely manner. I will however not be going back. They have lost a good customer.

Met a friend here for lunch today and the ambiance was lovely (if not a bit odd smelling when first entering the building), the staff friendly and welcoming and we were seated which was all very nice. We ordered a chicken and camembert sandwich (without the bacon request which was accommodated) and thank goodness this came with fries as the sandwich portion was 'modest'. Now I'm not one to be over-faced and I support the more modest approach to food rather than filling my boots but lets say we definitely had room for pud; delicious rich banoffee pie but at £6.75 portion a tad pricey. Would I come again? Probably but not if I was pretty hungry.

Another visit to the Dormouse, unfortunately not my choice but my Dad's whos birthday it was.The food was decidedly average, small portions some of it not even warm, verging on cold.Service was slow, even though the restaurant wasn't busy and not overly welcoming if I'm honest ( the guy who serves is not included in this , he is about the only professional person in the place)Also having to register my car registration on arrival on a tablet at the bar? I'm not interested in the parking problems the pub may have.I wouldn't anticipate another family birthday celebration meal here, there are far more welcoming places to go.

Have been here several times staying in the Premier Inn next door. Just a Vintage Inn but the decor and ambience is good and the food has always been good quality. Hubby had fish and chips and I just had cheese board - loads of cheese and just what I wanted. Friendly staff and lovely log fire to relax by. Only 1 moan - the seating by the lovely fire is also close to the toilets which unfortunately were very smelly... (pretty sure that wasn’t the case last time we were here)

Had a lovely visit. Very helpful friendly barmaid (think it was a Molly) quick to make our drinks whilst having a laugh. Even recommended some garlic bread as a nibble as we were peckish! Will definitely be returning.

Having had Christmas Dinner at The Dormouse for around 5 years without any problems we booked again as normal for a party of 5 for Christmas Dinner 2018, this time the meal itself was adequate but the service levels were atrocious, some long waits between courses with some people actually leaving before their food was served. I come now to 2019, we thought we would give them another chance as things could not be as bad as the previous year, OH how I was wrong, this time service was quicker but the meal itself was atrocious and not worth the amount charged. The owners had decided to close the bar to drinkers only which made the place lack a busy Christmas atmosphere and it looked like a ghost town.We shall not be booking the Dormouse again.

Visited today for a meal with my other half well a few things that need putting right waiter needs to iron his shirt but was polite now the food I had gammon came with 2eggs as for tripled cooked chips they were frozen chips not fresh so not sure they were tripled cooked no peas come on it needs peas served with it and would have been nice to have had a choice of egg or pineapple partner had cheese board not as stated no camembert but wasnt told crackers were soft but other than that it was a nice enough meal partner enjoyed his belly pork with black pudding mash I would return to try again

I honestly don't know where to start the staff are fabulousLovely pub great hospitality BUT The the food is so hit and miss I can not understand why it can not be of consistan quality.The pate on a plate with 2 slithers of bread looked so unappealing and to be honest there wasn't a lot of it. The main course roast turkey dinner. The roast potatoes, dryBroccoli not cooked and hard Sprouts over done Parsnips could not find one on the plate And who serves Christmas pudding and custard on a dinner plate. I have worked in the food industry for years and I can never understand why the quality changes depending on the day of the week. Just get a decent chief and have constant good quality food. Its not hard xIt's such a shame because the dormouse is a lovely pub.

Just been for our xmas day dinner and the food was lovely, 2 scallops and 1 pate to start. Turkey, rack of lamb and steak for main and the creme brulee, a chocolate dessert and cheese board for dessert. I only have one really small negative and that is the need for chutney on the cheese board. But this really is a small thing. The atmosphere was relaxed. Everybody seemed in great moods. The service was outstanding. The place was warm. Roaring fires. This is the first time we have ever eaten out on xmas day and it is something we will do again.Thanks everybody at the dormouse

We went in for Sunday lunch £27 for 2 Turkey and beef dinner . The food was freezing served on cold plates. It was a absolute joke . We was offered for warm food to be brought out but decided to get a refund . The place needs a Chef.

When we walked in we were greeted by a couple just leaving, they told us not to get a table in the restaurant as it was so cold they had eaten their lunch with coats and scarves on.We first tried a table in the bar area but this was cold and draughty so we asked to move into the restaurant, we were told we could sit where we wanted but one section had been closed off. As we sat down there was a large group of women near us and they too had coats and scarves on and a couple on a table behind also had their coats on.When my father went to the bar to return my mums drink as it was flat he commented on how cold it was to be told there was nothing they could do. When we commented to another member of staff we were told they don't feel it, which they probably don't when they are moving about with Christmas jumpers on. Yes there was a fire burning but the radiators were barely on, my elderly parents were so cold my father's lips were blue.We did order food and when a table nearer the fire became available we moved, as we did the large group of ladies passed us to leave and told us how miserable it had been to be so cold, eating their lunch with their coats on. We had ordered garlic bread to share, fish and chips, hunters chicken and ham and cheese toasted sandwich. We waited 45 minutes for our food to arrive, not sure why as it was 2pm when we gave our order and the pub only had about 8 tables to serve. During this time watching various members of waiting and kitchen staff chatting, on their phones and walking past us with their own lunch to sit in the closed off section. When the food finally arrived that was the final straw the peas and chips with the fish were cold and the sour dough toasted sandwich looked more like Kingsmill 50/50 barley toasted and cold. This isn't the first time we have had a bad experience at this pub but it will be the last as we won't be back, it's such a shame when other pubs in the area that are part of the same group get it so right.

Such a shame as I have been here so many times and it has always been great. Today, sadly, this was not the case. I, along with 5 others had booked a Christmas luncheon get together. We arrived to an exceedingly cold venue. When we passed comment on how cold it was we were told “well there is nothing we can do, the fires are lit and the heating is on”. The fires were indeed lit but had obviously not been lit long and the radiators were nothing more than tepid and remained that way for our entire stay. We, along with a number of other patrons didn’t take our coats off. Our food arrived when we were told to watch the plates as they were very hot. No they weren’t. Our lunches went cold very quickly on tepid plates. The portions were small and really quite tasteless. The Christmas pud was quite good. The service was slow and we were never offered coffees at the end of the meal nor were we offered more drinks during the meal. Don’t think we will go again.

Just returned from Christmas luncheon at the Dormouse along with 5 others, Most disappointed. Many patrons were complaining of feeling cold. We were sat next to a radiator which was tepid at best. We sat throughout the meal with our coats on as did many others throughout the restaurant. We mentioned on 3 occasions that we were cold but were just told that the heating was on full & there was nothing that could be done to warm the place up. We had chosen our courses beforehand. Five of us had Turkey dinners and all six of us had Christmas pudding. The meal was served on tepid plates and therefore the food cooled too quickly to be enjoyable. The Christmas pudding was slightly burnt and crisp on the edges. Also the table was not set correctly. Despite knowing we were all having Christmas pudding there were no spoons included in the place settings & therefore had to request them. Will definitely not frequent here again.

Qué lástima que solía esperar en el Premier Inn de al lado para poder cenar aquí. Cómo un año ha cambiado las cosas, masivamente con poco personal y la comida no fue excelente. Esperamos 45 minutos para que llegara la fuente compartida, estaba bien, aparte del pollo que estaba bien preparado. Nuestros platos terminados se sentaron en la mesa durante otros 30 minutos con las camareras revisando los teléfonos en el punto de pago, lo cual no es genial. Se aclararon cuando preguntamos! ! En la red eléctrica otros 40 minutos y todavía no hay señal de la red, después de preguntarle a la camarera, ella dijo que iban a ser 5 minutos más y nos dio algunas bebidas gratis. La comida llegó y el pollo Hunters había estado bajo la lámpara o la parrilla esperando por algún tiempo que el tocino y el pollo se hubieran secado a una pulgada de su vida. La verdura de mi esposa estaba fría como la piedra que vino con su pastel de pollo. Queríamos postre pero la idea de otra espera nos desanimó y nos fuimos. Poco basura realmente y no vale la pena el dinero que pagamos. . .

Siempre comíamos aquí cuando nos alojábamos al lado en la posada principal, pero hace un par de años nos quedamos para el año nuevo y tuvimos la comida que fue horrible, así que dejamos de comer aquí. Nos reuníamos con la familia, así que fue lo más conveniente, aunque dudamos después de nuestra mala experiencia. Reservamos una mesa pero necesitábamos suficiente espacio para una silla alta y un cochecito. El personal muy amable nos llevó a la mesa y nos preguntó si estaría bien para nosotros, si no, nos encontrarían otra, pero fue perfecto. Dos de nosotros pedimos pescado y papas fritas, uno pidió bistec y pollo y pastel de champiñones, también tuvimos una comida infantil de salchichas y puré. La comida fue perfecta, tuvimos que esperar un poco, pero valió la pena y enviamos platos limpios incluso desde los 2 años. Teníamos postres de Eton mess, crumble de frutas y bayas y crema quemada seguido de cafés. Una tarde encantadora con comida maravillosa. Enhorabuena al gerente bastante nuevo por darle la vuelta al lugar.

Un servicio lento y terrible para lo que debería haber sido un almuerzo familiar los domingos, que duró una hora o una hora y media como máximo. Llegamos diez minutos antes de nuestra reserva y tardó 20 minutos en sentarse. Otros 10 mito reciben un pedido de bebidas, 15 minutos para que lleguen las bebidas, luego se ordenaron los entrantes y tomaron casi una hora. Lo mismo con los platos principales que tomaron más de 90 minutos. La comida en sí está bien, nada sorprendente y no es barato. En total nos sentamos a la 1:20 y tuve que irme a las 3. 30 para una cita previa, dejando parte de mi comida. Mi madre y mi hermana y la comida de la familia terminaron a las 3:45 y se fueron sin postre ni café ya que nuestra anciana madre discapacitada estaba cansada en este momento. Sí, nos ofrecieron una bebida de cortesía a modo de disculpa, pero todos conducían y no los necesitábamos. Sin descuento ni disculpas del gerente y el servidor admitió que tenían demasiadas reservas y que la cocina no podía hacer frente. Solía llevar a mis padres mensualmente antes de que mi padre muriera, no volveré.

Nos alojamos en el Premier Inn al lado de The Dormouse y reservamos una mesa para la cena.El pub estaba muy ocupado con la temporada festiva, así que tuve que estar preparado para esperar un poco.La comida era absolutamente hermosa, cené Turquía y mi marido tenía un plato de carne. Ambos valieron la pena la espera. El personal fue muy atento y amable y accesible.Interior encantador, chimeneas, definitivamente recomendaría una visita.

Esta fue una fiesta de Navidad reservada para 18 personas. No pudieron hacer lo suficiente por nosotros e hicieron una reserva complicada muy fácil. La comida era excelente y, como había muchos vegetarianos y veganos en nuestro grupo, se esforzaron mucho por acomodar a todos.

A group of 12 had a meal on Friday evening, we were booked in for 8pm on the 6th December, we have nothing but praise for the staff. I had placed a pre-order with Hannah on Monday which was executed perfectly.All 12 of us commented on the speed of service and the quality of food.We had many different starters and a selection of different main courses. Everyone commented how nice they all were. We have visited The Dormouse as a weekend away for many years starting 12 years ago!!! This was the best meal and service we have ever had here!Compliments to Chris and the team.Merry Christmas to you all

There were plenty of friendly waiting staff but we had to wait 1¾ hours for our food order, so we left with no food, tired, grumpy. The whole day was then spoilt ! The staff could easily have said - "we don't have enough chefs today, or its a 2 hour wait". But just left us guessing. You need to close the restaurant, sack the slow chef or hirer more and head office need to fix the broken toilets. Its a health hazard and needs reoprting. It seams you haven't learnt anything from the bad reviews on here.Head office should fix this place or close the restaurant.

Having used The Dormouse several times a group of 4 looked forward to the Festive Menu. We arrived 12noon to see hardly anyone else in and immediately felt the place was very cool despite the open fire. We all ordered and although we aren’t criticising the food, on this occasion we were disappointed we were 2.5hrs having our 3 courses. A glass of Shiraz red wine was ‘chilled’ and although I’m no expert I do know red should be at room temperature. In fairness as we left I mentioned this to a member of staff and was told if I’d complained it would have been taken off the bill. Not up to the usual standard on this occasion.

Superb Food, beer tip top and all the staff were brilliant. You could have a laugh with them log fire too 😎

I find it really difficult to understand how it’s taken 45 minutes to make 2 sandwiches and 2 portions of chips the pub isn’t full and we literally were the first people in and people after us have been served before us with hot food orders shocking customer service and shocking time keeping will definitely not be eating again ....... seriously look at the pic lol u slung sum beef in bred then grilled it the bread felt stale n off totally baffled

After reading recent reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect, was was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed a very good Sunday lunch. The service was fine and all the food was served quickly and was very tasty. The restaurant wasn't too busy and had a nice atmosphere. Would definitely go back.

It is a well known local joke - at the end of the road the advert reads "warm welcome" - funny. The staff are miserable, over worked and stressed - and who can blame them! We had to clear our table of dirty plates, glasses and bowls of old food - after 4 journeys to the bar - with no staff in view and long queues for drinks we finally sat down. Unfortunately ...we needed the toilets. Not good. The toilets here are legendary and they didn't fail to revolt today. Two of the ladies loos were blocked, and one of the mens- loo roll strewn around - they are badly maintained and the drains constantly stink. We told the manager and he said he was surprised and had lots of ads out for more staff. Ah that'll be it. But it's not. A one off. No. It's always like this. Always queues, never any staff - a nightmare. My advice - go to the loo before you come here and do not expect speedy service - a warm welcome ....no. A slow, protracted, agonising service - oh yes.

Having visited York for the first time ever, we stayed at the Premier Inn and this place is right across from it. It was a bit unfortunate that the kitchen was being refurbished as we had to go into the city to eat. But the pub is nice and cozy and warm. The staff seemed really nice and welcoming. I had a hair in my pint and it was whisked away quickly and a fresh one made. No questions. Well worth a visit if you are staying in this area. And hopefully the kitchen is refurbished and you get to try the food too

Whilst the Dormouse's interior is enviably beautiful and wonderfully cosy, the speed of service is still problematic. We ordered two calamari starters, one pate' starter and a sticky toffee pudding. One calamari was omitted by the waitress so this caused a delay, but still, couldn't have finished the meal in an hour even at a push. And this is consistently the case. Certainly would love to have business lunches here but know that timing is always a problem. Pity, with so many offices on your doorstep.....
