We called in while we were waiting for friends to arrive in York. The pizza was really good. Beer was good.

Popped in on way back from York quite late in the evening in search of a bite to eat. This place caught our eye as looked so inviting from the road, and we were absolutely right. The food was delicious and the service by the manager was excellent, very attentive and considerate, also was happy to allow me to charge my phone behind the bar. Am only sorry I don't live close enough to call in more regularly! Will definitely be back

I booked a table for 6 here last Sunday. I had been here in the past and remembered the food was really good. How a place can change. First off we were put on a table for four. 6 of us all crammed up. We had to ask for another table. The Sunday dinner came and we were told the veg would follow. Well it did! One tureen of veg for 6 of us. 1 1/2. Potatoes each. 1/2 a carrot and parsnip each. The couple on the other table had one Tureen of veg between 2 of them. We asked for more veg and it came basically after we had eaten the scraggy amount we had on the plate. And it got even worse, the potatoes arrived cold. We gave up asking for more or a refund. We just thought we would never go back. The Sunday lunch is around £15. So you expect much better. There are other pubs in fulford which I would try before this one. Please don’t suffer the same experience as us. You will be seriously wasting your money. AVOID.

Went here for a meal on our first evening visiting York. Lovely pub, with friendly staff, and a real fire going. Four adults and one child eating, and all of us agreed it was the best home cooked food we'd had in a pub in a very very long time. Everything was home made even the tartae sauce for my fish. When people make such effort they deserve credit, would highly recommend.

A complete gem we discovered quite by serendipity at the start of a short break in York! Super-friendly welcome from our host working behind the bar and some great ales, a lovely log fire and very imaginative menu got things off to a great start. The food was home-cooked by the chef and absolutely superb! I can't remember the last time I saw cassoulet on the menu in this country so it was a no-brainer for me and it was delicious. When we said how much we'd enjoyed our meals the chef came out to express his gratitude which was wonderful. We left with a huge feeling of bonhomie and a very memorable start to our mini-break. Huge thanks to the guys for such a lovely evening and do check this place out because although it may look unassuming when you enter there are great things going on when you get inside.

We arrived In fulford after a long 6 hour journey, this place is right next door, tents outside with bars and a cook in another… all looked like a weird set up but we were so hungry we went in. Ordered food, was ok. Plastic cutlery… food served in disposable trays? All a bit odd but we went with it. Later that eve our family met us it was getting on into the eve, again everyone starving. This time there was 16 of us, we decided to go back as it was close and the could seat us all. They put us Inside this time we were actually allowed inside the pub whereas before we could only eat outside, don’t know why. We all ordered food, the food came out half the portion size it was earlier that day, and one portion of loaded fries did not arrive, we questioned it….. back and forth from the kitchen tent they went….. no fries….. landlady comes out with an attitude, said the meals all arrived, well they hadn’t!! No offer of replacement fries, NOTHING. we’d spent well Over £200 in an hour and they couldn’t even give us the fries we paid for. Very embarrassing to say the least. Landlady was stern, not willing, not nice. All we wanted was fries, they genuinely did not come out of the kitchen, she wouldn’t have it, so a member of out family had no food. So awful. GO TO THE PLOUGH A FEW METRES UP THE ROAD. This I can recommend. Sadly this pub hit rock bottom a while ago and it’s not doing a very good job at getting back up to where it could be.

Great stay over free overnight parking as long as you have a few drinks or even a meal.The meal we had was excellent mussel pot.Black pudding balls to die for.would highly recommend an overnight stay and will definitely make a return visit. Thanks very muchly Tracy

Stayed here for 1 night and had some food and drinks in the pub. Staff were friendly and the food and service was brilliant. Will definitely be returning and highly recommend.

Had a fantastic night, food was absolutely beautiful, very, very welcoming. Many, many thanks. We had booked for 2 nights but had to return home after 1 due to a family crisis. Look forward to returning.

Delicious takeaway. We had the Ultimate Burger, Dirty Ultimate Burger and Chicken Gyros. Excellent service too, easy to order and ready at the time we asked for.

Lockdown eased so we booked a saturday night dinner at The Bay Horse. Like the Sunday lunches it was just fabulous. French Onion soup to die for, followed by seafood linguine for my wife, I had pork belly bites and simply fish and chips. The quality of the food shows through, and needless to say, all were cooked and presented, perfectly. Booked the family in for the Christmas menu next week as that looks amazing. Can't wait.

Even though York has moved into Covid Tier 2, my wife and I decided to go and try The Bay Horse in Fulford again for Sunday Lunch. Last month we went and I raved about the Roast Beef as it was just perfect...this time we both went for the roast Pork. The quality of the food and the way in which the dishes are presented is just superb. For an out of town 'Pub' restaurant, the food on offer here would do justice to a Michelin starred establishment. Needless to say the Pork was perfectly cooked, succulent and topped off with a slice of belly pork and crackling, the dish was a delight. We had wanted to try the French Onion soup for a starter, but they had sold out...I'm not surprised, so we went for the Prawn Cocktail again, we weren't disappointed. For dessert, we chose the Apple and Blueberry Crumble and custard. it's a pity there isn't a 'Sunday Lunch' competition, if there was, The Bay Horse Fulford would be an 'out of sight' winner.

Sunday lunch at the Bay Horse was delicious. The staff were so friendly nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious. I actually can’t wait to go again. Had the most lovely afternoon. Very reasonably priced. Had a lovely log fire burning and the atmosphere was just perfect.

Came expecting a good night with live music and was very disappointed. Paid £10 which included a beer and a German sausage, definitely don’t think it was worth the money. The toilets were disgusting and leaking all over the floor, had to wade through a a puddle to access the toilet. In the marque there were wires trailing in water which was very concerning (definitely didn’t feel safe) . The event was not covid safe, it is law for table service to be in force at pubs now and this did not happen! Would definitely not recommend!

Reservamos esto porque necesitábamos pasar la noche y como es un fin de semana de entrega universitaria a nivel nacional, sabíamos que muchos lugares estaban completos.Vimos este alojamiento en un sitio web de reservas y el sitio web se veía bien, al igual que las críticas. 100 para pasar la noche estaba en el extremo más caro del espectro para todas las visitas a la universidad que hemos hecho. Esto fue un poco molesto, ya que ella ya había verificado la asignación. Le informé que habíamos usado las instalaciones y ella nos pidió que simplemente intercambiáramos las tazas, un poco descuidado teniendo en cuenta las preocupaciones actuales sobre la contaminación. Sin embargo, cuando retiramos el edredón por la mañana para quitar la cama, notamos dos manchas no muy agradables, y también que no había un protector de colchón debajo de la sábana, que creo que debería haber estado allí como una cuestión de rutina.Le habría comunicado estas preocupaciones al gerente por la mañana cuando nos fuimos por la mañana, pero el pub estaba cerrado y no pudimos encontrar a nadie. Entré aquí recientemente con mi pareja y mi hija. Decidí que me apetecía un bocadillo y las ofertas del menú eran tentadoras. Tuve la panceta de cerdo entrante y mi compañero el Thai Muscles. Simplemente perfecto. Si estos entrantes son algo a juzgar por un menú completo, está en orden. Me sorprendió mucho el alto nivel, la calidad y la presentación de la comida, teniendo en cuenta que es comida de pub que pone el listón muy alto. Definitivamente volveremos aquí. Recomendado.

'vegetariano' es una exageración severa. Para un pub, el menú es minúsculo y carece de todos los clásicos de pub que cabría esperar de cualquier establecimiento que se precie. Hay quizás 2 opciones vegetarianas en total y descuida por completo cualquier opción para veganos o niños vegetarianos. El ambiente del pub en sí también es deficiente, no se deje engañar por las amistosas luces de colores del exterior. Habiendo estado dos veces, he visto que o tiene menos vida que mi gato muerto o tiene un evento de mal gusto que atrae a los lugares más indeseables. Debería haber aprendido desde la primera vez que fui y nunca haber regresado. Después de la decepción que trajo este pub, busqué una comida decente para mí y mi familia en otro lugar, y encontré un pub más acogedor con un menú extenso y diverso en The Plough, que está a unos 500 metros por la calle.

Dined with my family and friends here on many occasions tasting brilliant food every time, we have recently been for Sunday Lunch and previously tried the delicious street food at the music event that was running.Friendly atmosphere and a creative use of the outdoor space.

Despite the miserable weather a great start to the weekend of music entertainment at The Bay Horse with excellent performances throughout the evening in the large marquee behind the pub.

En el interior, algunos de los asientos estaban rotos y el lugar parecía descuidado. Alabaría al personal. Fueron muy agradables y serviciales. Sin embargo, no fue una buena experiencia en general. Me gustaría darle al lugar otra oportunidad, pero por ahora hay muchos otros lugares más agradables que podría visitar primero. Lamentablemente, por ahora lo resumiría con una palabra. . . . . . Una comida y bebidas muy agradables. Se lograron las medidas establecidas para asegurarnos de que estábamos a salvo de Covid, pero el equilibrio fue perfecto, por lo que tuvimos una velada muy agradable. La comida era impecable y el ambiente excelente. Enhorabuena al equipo Bay Horse. Te veo pronto.

Our trip to York turned into a bit of a nightmare as we weren't able to leave home until late. Traffic problems meant we were restricted to hotel food which was not the option preferred. A short walk to the bay horse was decided on and we were hopeful of getting a bar meal.ordered drinks from a very nice member of staff and enquired about food availability... "sorry but we stopped at 8"was the reply.our tired faces and rumbling tums must have hit a soft spot because an offer to reopen the kitchen was accepted and we soon tucked into very nice and very filling brisket burgers and spicy fries. We can't thank the very kind staff enough. You made our night.in a cut throat and sometimes sorry works its nice to know there are kind and helpful people still willing to go that extra mile to help....the bay horse will now be our next place to stay. Room was comfortable and clean, although it was a bit cold. The owners were very friendly and welcoming, good food and real ale well kept.Overall a very pleasant stay. I would definitely stay again.

We’ve been charged full price for a meal that we didn’t eat because it was absolutely disgusting! I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone!

Acabo de pasar dos noches en The Bay Horse y todo fue 100% positivo. La bienvenida fue muy agradable. También comí su y las comidas estaban cocinadas a la perfección. El propietario Donna fue muy profesional con una hermosa sonrisa de bienvenida. Ya he reservado para mi próxima estancia. El entretenimiento también fue muy bueno. Lo pasé muy bien y continuaré regresando una y otra vez.

Precioso pub tipo Olde que sirve excelentes bebidas, mis colegas tuvieron la cena del domingo, que no solo se veía muy bien, sino que me aseguraron que era, todo estaba recién preparado, creo que hay un nuevo chef, así que esto será muy popular una vez que se restablezca Sirve la cena entre las 12 y las 3 en este momento.

Nice Atmosphere, a proper pub, Great Staff. Landlord was very professional. All meals very nice. We had Swiss Cheese Burger, Holoumi in Timothy Taylor Landlord Batter and Ribs (48hr), which were outstanding. Live music later in the evening. Cant wait to go back.

Very disappointed - only Timothy Taylor Landlord on offer as an ale - contrary to what is advertised outside this establishment.......

Thought we'ed give the new owner's a chance at lunch time, menu very limited to a couple of courses, burgers or sandwiches, fancied nothing so left, we went elsewhere local. The place was clean and welcoming only one other couple in, for a lunch time that says it all. If the menu is thier standard it will be a long time before we visit again.

this pub has been very sad of late however with a change of management it is now so much cleaner and better. The food is gorgeous and there is a much better choice of drinks including cocktails. The new couple are very pleasant and have some great ideas for the future. I wish them every success and look forward to visiting again.

The Bay Horse, during the last year has struggled against the very successful Plough Inn 3 minutes away. On Wednesday night we popped in for a glass of wine, mainly as The Bay has seating in the sun. I walked in to find new owners and an actual choice of white wines for a change. Talked to the new people and then noticed the specials board with Sea bass on it and guests enjoying mussels which smelled fab so we stayed for a meal. I had the sea bass, which they cooked some samphire for me as i didn't want the salad. Delicious, and my wife had the "Moby dick" Fish,chips, mushy peas and home made tarte sauce. All very good.

Having tried here shortly after the new owners took over and only having 2 lunch choices - sandwich or burger I decided to try again. Still a limited menu but opted for a sandwich. What a disappointment. £6.50 for 2 slices of dry almost stale bread with a scant filling, 7 crisps and a minimal amount of warm, wilted salad leaves! Bring back the decent sized ciabatta rolls, chips and a good portion of salad or reduce your prices to reflect the poor quality!

Great food - Thai mussels in a red sauce starter to share followed by hake x 2 and dessert of sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. Prices ok and service good by friendly people

Booked to stay for one night, after reading recent reviews I rang to check my booking. Was reassured by the new owners there was no problem. Arrived and was welcomed by Donna and family who helped us with our luggage and gave us a choice of room. Room was clean and very comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast was lovely in the dining area which was very pleasant, nothing was too much trouble. Had a drink in the bar before going out to our Hen party, chatting with Donna about their future plans which sound great. Enjoyed our short stay and would not hesitate in staying here again, maybe have a meal next time, thank you.

The Bay Horse has fallen upon sorry times in recent years so it was great to return to see it back in business with new owners - we went down for the ‘soft’ opening on 27 April (you might as well disregard any reviews before then). The owners gave us a great welcome so I’ve taken others back since! I get the sense that the pub will really find its place in the community now, with a good reputation for food as well as drinks and a place to watch football - do give it a try!

New owners so called in over the BH, tried the muscles from the street food tent that were excellent and food to hear owners are looking at developing a new menu to include more sea food. Interior could do with modernising as no real bar area, but the muscles and new food menu will bring me back. Good to have a young couple with a good reputation in an established Fulforf pub making a real go of it.

Este es un pub encantador con un ambiente muy agradable. La comida es fabulosa, las hamburguesas son enormes y muy sabrosas. También tienen 6 habitaciones que son muy espaciosas y huelen muy bien. Donna y Martin han hecho un trabajo increíble al tomar este pub con tan poco tiempo de aviso y definitivamente regresaremos para probar el nuevo menú, que pronto saldrá. Buena suerte

We went for a family pub lunch today and it was delicious! We all had burgers! Great food and the service was friendly and welcoming. Knowing that the pub had a few problems in the past it's clear the new owners have enthusiasm and have put in lots of hard work to start the pub with a new lease of life... We can't wait to see what's to come and will definitely be back soon!!

This was once my go to regular lovely food and friendly pub place. It has recently undertaken new ownership and it is an utter sham. Not one - but every single diner in the pub complained about their Sunday Lunch being cold, undercooked, reheated and burnt Yorkshire’s. Not only have the new owners hoiked the price up from £8 to £13 instead of a carvery it was plated measly portioned rubbish. The new landlady handled the complaints appallingly and then loudly bad mouthed the complainants from the bar. She explained her aspirations of turning it into gastro seafood restaurant from next week. Perhaps you need to change your surroundings and your location first! After 7 years as a loyal customer - that was my last visit. Utterly awful and appalling behaviour from the landlady (note that this wasn’t even to me - I sent back my cold dinner but paid full price to save the hassle!)

Llamado aquí Viernes Santo, bajo nuevo propietario de nuevo. Mucha gente se sentó afuera (día cálido y soleado). Solo 1 pareja más come dentro. Menú muy pequeño solo sobre 8 opciones. No hay opciones baratas. Pedimos 2 fish and chips a las 9. 50 cada uno y 2 bebidas. La comida llegó en unos 15 minutos. Pescado de buen tamaño, pero solo unos 10 trozos cortados a mano, aproximadamente una cucharadita de guisantes y una cucharadita de salsa tártara. Aunque la calidad era buena, el tamaño de la porción para el precio era muy pobre. No hay menú dulce. Nos fuimos todavía con hambre! ! No volveremos aquí para comer! !

We called to Bayhorse on our way to York . We had no idea what it would be like but were not disappointed . Recently taken over the staff gave us a warm welcome . Menu was good and the food , all home made was delicious . Prices were very reasonable . A lovey experience . Good luck with your new venture with food like this you will succeed !!!!

New landlord only a week in already you can smell it’s clean this is one to watch they are very keen and friendly.,when he gets the kitchen up and running it will be even better. The rooms are clean and spacious very comfortable bed .

After been here before and food been delicious I thought I’d try again as was in the area.opted for the 2 steaks for £23.95

If all you want is a beer, fine. If you want to eat, go anywhere but here. On the night we were there, the other patrons were laughing as they ordered Chinese food to be delivered to their hotel. Told us they would never eat here.We learned the hard way.

We picked the Bay Horse because it was the nearest pub to Designer outlet. It's been a few years since we were there and didn't know what to expect. What a lovely surprise !

Stopped overnight for our anniversary. Wasn't too impressed with the booking in service, staff weren't very welcoming and card machine not working. The room and the pub was clean but there was no cups for the tea facilities and our door had a broken handle.

Very lovely warm welcoming from all staff. The room is one of cleanest ever seen. Will deffo be visiting again. Thank you to all the great staff that made our stay great although the weather was a bit crappy. Lovely evening meal spent at side of roaring fire and Christmas tree. Lovely well maintained pub.

Having been to the Bay Horse many times over the past few years for Sunday lunch/carvery our last visit on the 2nd Dec will I am afraid to say will be the last. Two of our party had the beef which was all but inedible being extremely tough to the extent that some could not even be cut through. When the table was cleared on being asked how was the meal I quietly (so as not to be heard by other diners), made my comments and although the lady was very apologetic, which though came across as having been said many times before, did not offer any recompense or even a drink. 'I will take your comments back to the kitchen'.

Mi padre y yo salimos con mi hija el martes y queríamos parar a comer algo antes de que la escuela corriera para los niños más grandes, era justo antes de las 2 de la tarde y estábamos preocupados de que no encontraríamos ningún lugar. En la tabla exterior (como se ve en mi foto), notamos que la comida se servía hasta las 2. A las 30 de la noche, entramos y pedimos dos coques que se vertieron de una botella de plástico (no es que no me haya gustado, es solo que lo esperaría de barril o de una botella de vidrio en un pub). luego pedí que ordenara algo de comida para que le dijeran que habían dejado de servirla. Dije que creía que la comida había terminado a las 2. 30 pm pero la camarera simplemente no dijo nada! Tomamos nuestras bebidas y nos fuimos, no habríamos comprado bebidas si hubiéramos sabido y ciertamente sentimos que era una publicidad falsa, una pena porque la gente comía cuando llegamos y el menú era extenso.

He estado aquí unas cuantas veces y no me ha parecido nada acogedor. Los clientes habituales gruñen y te miran mientras entras. Ambiente muy hostil. El personal del bar te ignora esperando en el bar para que puedan conversar o servir a sus amigos primero. Tuvimos una comida aquí también y la comida no es nada especial. No volveré a ir

Friendly staff who go out of their way to make you feel at home. Open fire in the bar and great food. Staying here for work in york and would definitely recommmend stopping by. Rooms are spotless as is the rest of the premises.

To say AVOID this place to stay in would be being understated in the extreme. There is nothing like a good b&b;, and this is nothing like one. Possibly fine to eat at the pub, but bearing in mind the state of the carpets, cobwebs and leaky ceiling in the bedroom we were allotted, I doubt if this is particularly wise, we didn't. I booked this for one night for a University visit with daughter, and very nearly slept in the car instead. Had we not driven around 300 miles to get there, and arrived quite late in the evening, and had I not paid £80 for the privilege before seeing the room (without breakfast) we would have. Who ever runs the place appears not to own or operate a hoover, the carpet contained more dust and hairs together with unidentifiable detritus than I've knelt on (wish I hadn't dropped an earring...) ever. Cobwebs,single ceiling bulb, bashed furniture and dubious stains by the wardrobe I didn't like to open. The bathroom was clean - though it was hard to appreciate this when thinking about the room,and we didn't risk more than absolutely needed. On checking out there was a very nice male chef who could not have been more of a contrast to the remainder of the 'welcoming' staff, who couldn't crack a smile, even when relieving us of the money on arrival. On the positive side, the beds appeared clean, and we were there for one night and we discovered the Plough Inn in Fulford, which is WONDERFUL. No wonder no one asked us how the room was!

Just had a meal at bay horse and i must say what value for money i had a 10oz rump steak with home made chips home made onion rings and loads of extras and it was priced at 9.95 ...it was superb . .deffinatly worth a visit cooked to perfection

This venue just doesn't make the grade in any sense. It is grubby, the staff are totally slack, and the proprietors have no idea.

Would highly recommend, decent sized and extremely clean room. Welcoming and helpful staff also. Will definitely return.

What a shambolic establishment and staff! After booking a room on 16th July for two nights by telephone for the 27/28th July and accepting they could only offer a family room for the Friday and a different room for the Saturday, this was agreed as not really a problem, price agreed and approx arrival time informed. After a long drive arrived 1930 on the 27th to find they could find no record of booking and had no rooms available. After 30mins and many telephone calls and continuouse flicking of what appeared to be a calender they stated they could not find who took booking but had found a room outside of Leeds for us!They even questioned if I had the right Bay Horse! We stay in area a lot using two well established hotels but they were fully booked so yes had right establishment. What a way to run a business with no recognisable system of recording bookings and by who! So we were left high and dry with a function to attend and no room to stay, fortunately family sofas saved day. As said previously we stay in area a lot and have eaten here before that was mediocre at best. Would give less if able.

Popped in for a meal and drinks after s long drive, we were both very hungry so ordered food my first choice they had ran out of so had the steak.

While staying in York over the weekend , my partner and I visited this place for a evening meal and the food was fantastic and the bar staff was extremely friendly and very helpful .

It was a busy night England were trying to play football against Belgium. The place was busy, staff were very good but the food wasn’t that good; the wood fired Puzza was only have cooked, not just mine but another diner sent his back for the same reason.

this place is a little gem, the staff were really friendly, we were shown up to our room, and we were pleasantly surprised, the room was large and airy with a large en suite bathroom tea and coffee making facilities were there, the room was spotless and the bed was very comfy, the breakfast was freshly cooked and was presented very well, plenty of car parking is available, there is a bus stop just across the road if you don't fancy a long walk, (it takes a good 35 to 40 minutes to get to the city centre, we were going to a function at one of the hotels in york and caught the bus into york ( they run every few minutes) and got a taxi back. overall this is an inexpensive, great place to stay.

Called in for a gin and some food. Good pub food but really tasty. Had the burger and home made chips. The burger was so tasty and meaty. Thick cut chips too. Really lovely burger.

good beer friendly staff, carvery looked busy for a hot day. sore burgers and wood cooked pizza's flying out during match if it hadn't been for a big breakfast would have tried pizza. will try one next time, gather under new management and footie fans all looked like regulars

Decided to give it a go, it was ok, my daughters Kiev was a little dry but the chips were good, I enjoyed the chilli and my wife’s lasagna was ok, it was nice to sit outside in the sun, it’s good to see the place getting busier,

Love coming here to this local. Plenty of parking, seats outside and dog friendly everywhere in and out. The home cooked food is delicious and fresh and the £5 menu is an absolute culinary bargain!

My grandson and I had dinner here one evening whilst staying at a nearby B&B.; Very pleasant pub. Plenty of parking. Attentive and friendly staff. Good and quick service.

We were a party of 4 senior citizens and booked for lunch at this wonderful inn. Absolutely enormous portions - as much veg as you wished and a great choice of tender roast meats. Service was brilliant and they also have a good selection of cask ales. They serve food from noon until 4.00 pm and it is excellent value. All the staff were very friendly and we will return again soon.

Stayed for two nights, room smelt so fresh and was spotlessly clean, warm welcome and surprisingly quiet for a pub and being on a main road, bed comfy, I slept really well and I’m usually a dreadful sleeper, for half the price of most hotels in area you really can’t go wrong booking here, thank you we will be back!

Enjoyed good food at The Bay Horse with an eclectic selection of live music. Great friendly service and more than ample food portions at reasonable prices.

All of my family were greatly impressed with the Sunday carvery; tender beef (other meats available), no less than TEN vegetables to help yourself to! Yorkshire Pudding (perfectly cooked) and choice of two gravies (onion or plain). Really wonderful cooking, you will not be disappointed and certainly not hungry by the time you leave. Nice selection of puddings also, we will definitely be back! Also there are different price ranges for the carvery, adult, OAP, child above 10, child below 10 which makes for good value.

Food was average. Nothing bad about it but nothing amazing. The dining room itself was way too hot and put my husband off his food as he couldn’t cool down. The servers lady made me feel awkward as she watched my dish every piece of food onto my plate.

The staff were really friendly and the carvery was only £8.95 each and for that you get a really generous amount of nice quality meat (pork, turkey or beef when we were there) plus help yourself to a good range of vegetables (cauli cheese, red cabbage, carrots, sprouts!) and yorkshire puddings and choice of potatoes. Great gravy and sauces too, couldn't want more from a pub Sunday lunch!

The food was great and staff very friendly . the stake and ale pie was fantastic. It's a great place to eat or just a drink. The price was very good.

Nothing to shout about all mediocre. Clean enough, staff friendly enough, not overly though sort of take it or leave...

We visited a couple of months ago and it wasn't Good, but after seeing a board outside which said 'early bird meals Monday to Friday 5-7pm two for £8.95' we decided to try again. We went in and looked at the menu on the blackboard inside which stated the same offer in great big letters, and went to order our food . The offer is only Monday to Wednesday. Even though all the boards say Thursday and Friday too!! I recommended they change their false advertising and was told they were busy and were going to do it at some point.

No hay desayuno disponible esta semana, pero no advirtió la noche antes, no es muy acogedor, nos sentimos como una molestia para simplemente llegar. Ni siquiera un hola!

A 10 minuti dal centro di York. Struttura molto carina(old style). Pian terreno offre un pub e camere luminose e piacevoli. In camera offrono thé caffè e cioccolata solubile con biscottini. Manca il phon. Il personale è rigido e distaccato. Nonostante il pagamento effettuato tramite booking arrivati al check in non era pervenuta la transazione. La colazione costa 7,50£ include pane tostato burro e marmellatine, caffè/thé, spremuta d'arancia (che non ci hanno portato) e full english breakfast con fagioli uova bacon salsiccia pomodori funghi e sanguinaccio serviti con due fette di pane immerse in olio di semi iperfritte e insapori che ci sono rimaste indigeste per tutto il giorno. In generale posto consigliato per l'atmosfera magica che offre la città di York.

Stayed here for one night in June 2017Ideally situated as is only a bus ride (no7)From York centre. Ample car park space and not far from motorway to Leeds,shopping outlet or further north/south.Nice big clean room with two single beds, shower and toilet in room as well as tea and coffee facility, can't normally check in till 2pm but let ourselves in at 12pmas room was ready.Breakfast not included which I thought was a bit steep as we paid £70 for the room, ordered food on the night which they serve till 9pm as was reasonably priced and good sized portions.This is a pub though so was noisy till about 1am but this was to be expected.On a whole it's a nice place to stay great location and would/will use again

Took my nephew for a treat and really very disappointing. We went on Friday night which was steak night but as the deal was £22 for 2 meals and we didn't both want the same we decided to choose from the menu. My nephew choose the most expensive mixed grill at £17.25 and I chose a prawn salad. Well after a long wait , at least 15/20 minutes and the bar wasn't that full,the meals arrived. The mixed grill consisted of a very small piece of gammon, 2 sausages a small piece of porkloin and another even smaller piece of gristly steak, which was very well done. Other than that there were frozen garden peas, half a tomato and 3 onion rings. Honestly, the worst ever mixed grill I have ever seen. My prawn salad was ok, but just that. I would not recommend and will not ever return. I would have complained but did not want to spoil the evening with my nephew.

Came for my First trip to York ,Great place for Food,Drink and a bed to rest your head..Chilli con carne managers special was lovely only £6:95 a great portion too with extras Awesome breakfasts too full English all you need for a trip to York great Manager and Staff too ,will be going again definitely 30 mins walk to Races and City centre/train great location

There were two couples in the lounge for a meal, staff managed to make errors on both meals !Very average pub food at best. You are also charged £1 to use your debit card for payment. Seriously ? in this day and age. Leave well alone , very many better places to visit.

This was an ok pub don't get me wrong. But the last time we were here it was EXCELLENT.Shame it isn't quite the same.

A decent menu for proper pub grub. Very good prices for very good food, and an excellent Sunday carvery. Definatly worth trying.
